Hello everyone. Will you come and join me?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm having a little break from flat pack furniture hell. Am trying to assemble a chest of drawers for the boy's nursery. Got blisters on my fingers from the screwdriver and can hardly type. It's really hard crawling around on the floor to reach different bits. If DH was here I'd pull a girly fit and make him do it but I can't leave it all over the floor all day now I've unpacked it.

bunnybaby - wow that sounds divine - would LOVE a lovely warm pool to climb into every night

Wizzska - can you leave it until your DH can do it - bending over and hammering and screwing is no fun when 9 months pg - why not put your feet up, have a cup of tea and read a good book/watch some rubbish telly?

mememummy · 27/11/2007 12:03

i didnt sleep well either, dh set burgler alarm off this morn at 5 30, then phone rang constantly from 8.

went to lush yest and they do a bathbomb -named sex bomb- which has clary sage in it as well as a few other nice things

babys rooms finished will post some pics later, me and mil painted jungle animals and trees in ther so its quite cool and my fav room in the house.

i feel as tho i hav period pains this morn, dont think it will amount to anythin as ther pretty much constant

Wizzska · 27/11/2007 12:03

I wouldn't mind doing it Skid but the stupid screw fittings don't seem to be the right size. It is very frustrating.

bunnybaby - pool sounds great, we've had to go with pool in box as house isn't big enough but loving my baths in the evening so the idea of having a pool sounds like bliss

thanks skid - I'm relieved he's ok too, i think he was just ill and run down and me being miserable with him wasn't helping, we've also been able to sit down and eat together more in the evening so he eats better and then seems to settle to sleep more easily - maybe its not that maybe the old 'happy mum happy baby' saying is just true!
dh back on sat, then need to hold on a little while longer for him to get over jet lag! when is your due date? hope baby stays put for you too

claraquitebignow · 27/11/2007 12:11

Wizzska - second that, leave it for DH! That's what they are there for isn't it (once they've done their duty with the who's your father then all they are any use for is assembling furniture )

Ambi and Skid - another one here with a bah humbug dh (Skid are you sure we're not married to the same man?). The first Christmas we had with dd I don't think he wanted any decorations at all....last Christmas my family came for the day and he was in a foul mood the whole time. This year I have told him is the last he will be able to get away with being sour-faced about it all; next year dd will probably get it and he's going to have to pretend to be Father Christmas! Don't think he's too amused...

RGPargy · 27/11/2007 12:14

I've got my Birth Pool in a Box set up in the front room (empty, of course!). It'll be my first home birth and my first water birth so i'm really looking forward to it.

We were going to hire a heated pool but it worked out at about £260 for a month's hire which was a bit pricey we thought. I just hope our hot water holds out with the BPIAB! If not, it'll be kettles and saucepans of water to keep the temperature up!

Lots of ladies in our november thread have used birthing pools (in particular Loopymumsy) and swear they are great!

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 12:16

insy - Saturday is the day my baby's allowed to come too (although pref. Sunday to allow our friends to get over their jet lag!). My due date is 11th December - when's yours? Here's hoping we keep them safely inside until then. Come next week I'll be eating pineapples, having sex, downing RLT etc to beat the band!!

wizz - I know those things drive me insane - are you still trying?

meme - that bath thing with clary sage from Lush sounds like a great idea - apparently the clary sage smells completely vile by itself so that might make it a bit more bearable - are you going to try it tonight?

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 12:21

clara at your DH - sounds exactly like mine - I have also threatened him with the dressing up as Santa thing - I do it now just to see his face contort in disgust! Don't think I would actually hold him to it though. I also like to tell him that i'm feeling quite 'Christmassy' every now and again - cue the same face contortions...

Did your walk to the shops make you feel better?

claraquitebignow · 27/11/2007 12:25

Yes thanks a bit - I had a lovely latte and a piece of flapjack in a coffee shop. The flapjack was delic. but possibly a little too heavy as felt a bit sick on the way home . But I think a walk is always good for clearing your head.

Now debating whether to sit and read the paper, do my Christmas cards, have a sleep, watch tv or have lunch.

Can you tell dd is at childminders today!

Like the sound of the clary sage bath bomb. Am thinking of a long walk, followed by a hot curry and some pineapple, then a bit of hanky panky at the weekend (would like to have the baby on Sunday please) so perhaps will get one of those and have it in a bath afterwards!!!

claraquitebignow · 27/11/2007 12:27

Oh yes, very strange, probably stupid question about your waters breaking: what happens if they break while you are having a pee? Would you necessarily notice? And then what if you go and do all the things you are not meant to do afterwards like having sex and a bath full of bubbles (or a clary sage bath bomb!)?

Wizzska · 27/11/2007 12:28

Have managed another drawer - only 6 more drawers to go. Have done two sides but can't get the screws to fit. Am thoroughly peed off with it now so I think I'm going out to the shops to get something nice for lunch.

OP posts:
skidaddle · 27/11/2007 12:42

clara - I have heard about waters breaking when weeing and from what I've heard you do realise what is happening - I suppose a lot more liquid comes out than would be expected? And then continues to leak? And unlikely that you would rush straight from weeing to bath/having sex so you would probably realise? Plus only 10% of labours start with waters breaking so the odds are quite low anyway.

well done wizz - a nice lunch break sound slike a good idea

mememummy · 27/11/2007 12:55

skid, im gonna try it tommorro as its supposed to take a while and im going panto then, am v excited also have pineapple, raspberry leaf tea and will mention sex lol

i feel selfish wanting this baby early but at a predicted 9lb 6 im estimatin 8lb at present at least, and im only little.

im gonna try to deliver standing up as apparently you dont tear as much

claireybraxtonhicks · 27/11/2007 12:57

Wizzska it's not from Argos is it?? I have vowed never to buy flat pack furniture from them again after our bed came without the holes drilled or even marked and our sideboard took dh and my dad over 6 hours to build!
Very jealous of all the nesting. I feel completely wiped out at the moment and can't bring myself to do anything. Have a load of clothes in the machine that I washed this morning but still havent hung out, the kitchen is a tip and the floors really need hoovering-it all just seems too much effort. I know I should be doing it now while dd has her nap but can't summon the energy. So if anyone fancies coming to do my house then please feel free!

tabimum · 27/11/2007 12:57

clara - I think you will know if your waters have broken, even if weeing.

macdoodle - cant remember, but was it you whose baby was breech? I had a little bleed at w/end and ended up being monitored in hospital - all fine - but whilst I was there they did a quick ultrasound, and my breech one has turned - so there is a chance yours will/has too.

now have to decide between elective c-section (due to trauma of previous emergency c-section and desire to never have emergency section again) or VBAC. So many pros and cons for each decision I really cant decide what would be best. DD 19 months old, and DH will not be able to take much (if any) time off after birth, so recovery after c-section could be nightmare (although Mum is close by and will be over every day!), but uncertainty of arrival if VBAC causes me concern - given DH's distance from hospital and inability to get hold of him for hours on end! Any previous experiences/advice welcome!

my friend was on toilet and didnt notice, but within two hours she new, she had a bath after and baby turned out just fine

tabimum · 27/11/2007 12:58

why did that post twice??? !!!!

claireybraxtonhicks · 27/11/2007 12:59

Meme I think there is something in the standing-I delivered dd standing and although her head got stuck and had to be prised out by the mw I only had a couple of small grazes and no tears.

mememummy · 27/11/2007 12:59

dunno, but i read it twice and didnt realise, bad pg brain!!!

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 13:03

tabimum - no experience of cs at all but I would def go for a vbac with a dd to look after and a dh that isn't going to be around much. otherwise how on earth will you be able to not lift anything heavier than a newborn for 6 weeks? however, as I say i have no experience so others' opinions should be given more credence!

clairey - I also can't be bothered with nesting atm - had the whole day off yesterday and didn;t even wash the breakfast dishes

mememummy · 27/11/2007 13:15

its gone quiet now, is every1 havin naps?? or just watchin loose women?

insywinsyspider · 27/11/2007 13:23

tabimum - I'd agree with skid, never had cs either but have an 18 mo and couldn't imagine coping with him, new baby and not being able to drive or lift anything heavier than baby, ds still needs to be lifted into cot, highchair and buggy... if you do decide to have cs just make sure you have lots of support x

skid - due on the 18th, so a little after you, I've just looked at my diary and realised I have hair cut and dentist booked in for beginning of next week, be nice to do them before lo arrives! so basically mid week next week its curry, sex and pineapple time

meme - I'm def going to try and be standing/squating/on all fours for delivery - I was in classic on my back with legs in air position last time and had epsiotomy which worries me now, dh said I kept asking if I could be on all fours and they said ok but then I'd say I was too tired to move, this time I've asked him to basically pick me up and force me on all fours as I obviously wanted to be like that before but couldn't move without help, I just keep thinking about the shape of our bodies and the whole standing thing makes sense

insywinsyspider · 27/11/2007 13:24

meme - no at work, would love to be having a nap! hate loose women with a passion but that could be preferable to being here
