@WolfMother326 Oh bless you, I would find that so hard!! Stress is also a huge trigger factor for me.

Great news on the new meds! I’m currently on Azathioprine. Although pregnancy has put me in a lovely remission!

HopefulB · 08/04/2021 18:09

Massively feeling the hunger here! OH thinks it’s funny as he’s always had a really fast metabolism, can’t put weight on and gets hangry if we’re late with a meal, where as unless I was exercising i can’t say I ever felt ravenously hungry and have really struggled to lose weight I put on when I had a long commute. Now I have the same metabolism as him, so he’s convinced the little one will be like him! (I hope so as I wouldn’t wish weight worries on anyone).

I am eating loads & still only the same weight as booking after losing 2kg in first trimester!

@WolfMother326 oh I eat the food, even if I don’t like it. I had the mentality eat what I what I can for the first 14 weeks but I figured only eating cake wasn’t going to go well long term. I just hope it doesn’t make me sick. I’m eating mash and bland mushy stuff but I’m trying to be balanced, well as balanced as I can. Thank you- I have the maternity helpline, I’ll see what the private physio says and maybe call. My midwife said maternity helpline after 20 weeks and I must have asked at 19 weeks ish. Glad your pain is getting better, hope it clears entirely for you. I honestly didn’t realise pregnancy involved so many aches and pains 😂

@Daffodil21 I have my first appointment on Monday! She couldn’t see me in lockdown but we zoomed and she recommended some exercises and put me on to the physio. Am glad your midwife did the referral for you... mine sort of said, well what do you expect, you’re pregnant.

How is everyone doing this evening? Still hungry?! I’ve had an omelette for dinner (it was horrible lol) and am about to have a magnum followed by gaviscon probably..!!!

lucyrp · 08/04/2021 19:22

I feel very naughty tonight, we popped to see OH parents and ended up having a Burger King for tea 😬😬

Daffodil21 · 08/04/2021 19:24

@Inmypjsagain hope it helps on Monday! Sorry your midwife didn't do a proper referral for you and dismissed it as 'one of those things'.

The heartburn struggle is so real!!!

LottSE20 · 08/04/2021 20:16

20w scan today, all looked good! Only thing is I have a low placenta so they want to scan me again at 36w to check it’s not covering the cervix

Just out of interest, how easy is it to reach your midwives? We had a triage line for emergencies but otherwise there’s just an email and I don’t really feel encouraged to raise any issues in between appointments. Is that pretty standard?

Aug 2021 - half way there!
lucyrp · 08/04/2021 20:25

@LottSE20 I have a 24/7 triage line I have to ring to get through to a local hospital who then put me through to the midwife led unit I'm with. Are you sure it's not the same with you ? Although saying that the one I was with is very difficult to reach even if you leave a message they don't ring back ever. The new one I'm with you normally get through straight away.

HopefulB · 08/04/2021 20:35

@LottSE20 my named community midwife only works 1 day a week at the GPS! So for none urgent stuff it’s pretty hard to get hold of them. For urgent worries I had access to EPAU to 16weeks and MAU from 16weeks.

I’m torn at the mo as the hormones seem to have triggered an old ankle injury and I don’t really know if I should ask for midwife referral to physio, or just sort out one myself? And if I should see a women’s specific one, or if an MSK physio would be happy to treat me whilst pregnant....

Alittlexmasmagic · 08/04/2021 20:41

@HopefulB I have my MW work mobile number for non urgent stuff. Previous pregnancies I could call the community MWs office. Try Googling to see if there's a number for that xx

LottSE20 · 08/04/2021 20:48

@lucyrp I’m not sure, I’ve never called it as it said for emergencies only!

lucyrp · 08/04/2021 21:58

Omg I just rolled over in bed and something in my stomach felt like an elastic band snapping it felt horrible 😬 probably from twisting too much but baby has been moving since. Not sure what happened 😬

lucyrp · 09/04/2021 07:52

Does anyone know if you have to book your 25 week appointment yourself like the 16 week or do they send you a letter or call you to make it ?

BertieBotts · 09/04/2021 08:27

I get this elastic band twang sensation all the time. It must be the baby kicking a nerve or something? Feels so weird like he grabbed my skin and pulled or something. This one seems to do it much more than the other two did.

biscuitcat · 09/04/2021 08:33

@lucyrp I did need to book my 25 week, but my 16 week was done automatically, which makes me think that it's dependent on trust?

@LottSE20 we have a 24 hour emergency triage line plus an 8-4 non-emergency line. They both seem to be quite good, though I think they're very busy as the two times I called I've very much felt like they want to get me off the phone as quickly as possible to move onto the next one!

I was feeling very guilty last night, I was trying to sleep and the baby was moving so much that I just couldn't, plus the movements were making me feel a bit sick - I felt so bad not liking something that really is a good thing as it shows they're healthy 😩

Caz1226 · 09/04/2021 09:18

@lucyrp hello I have seen my midwife twice now and on my last appointment ( I was around 18 weeks) she booked in my 25 week appointment there and then for me
Not too sure if it’s different for other people
Xx

lucyrp · 09/04/2021 09:22

@biscuitcat yes it must be. I didn't even get told I had to book my 16 week one myself I found out from someone else 🙈

@Caz1226 okay! I think it might be to do with the fact I've swapped midwife units and the midwife that will be seeing me doesn't start until the end of April, but I will be 25 weeks on 3rd May so not sure how that will work 🙈xx

wimbler · 09/04/2021 09:38

my midwife called me to book in my 25 week appointment although with this being my second baby I didn't think I would have this one but I'm booked in anyway. I'm expecting my 28 week one will be skipped though. Hate that you have less appointments with your second baby!

I was given a card with the pregnancy advice line on it which covers my most local 5 hospitals. I've never had to use it and I have my midwife's work mobile number too for non urgent texts.

I had my whooping cough vaccine on Tuesday. My arm is still a bit achy!

LyraShaeLilly · 09/04/2021 11:13

So Im really confused about baby bedding, I have a waterproof mattress for the cot that baby will use from 6 months but do I need one for the bedside crib and pram? We will be using the pram for day time naps.

wimbler · 09/04/2021 12:21

@LyraShaeLilly we had one for the snuz pod - definitely worth getting to protect the mattress. One tip I've seen is to layer a couple of sheets with muslins in between so if there is a sick /wee/poo incident in the night you strip off the first sheet and muslin and then there is another set underneath. No need to faff about with changing the sheets in the middle of the night. We didn't bother for the pram but we covered the mattress of the pram in a large muslin. Our pram (uppababy vista) also came with a washable mattress cover and liner that zips out or the bassinet but it wasn't waterproof as far as I can remember

lucyrp · 09/04/2021 13:19

@LyraShaeLilly do you mean waterproof mattress protector ??

@wimbler it's annoying isn't it! I touched on it the other day and it's like they think oh well you've done it all before you know what you're doing but that's not really the case sometimes!

BertieBotts · 09/04/2021 13:21

We actually found a standard pillowcase fit the pram mattress perfectly so didn't actually bother getting any sheets for it! DS2 wasn't sick a lot and only tended to have nappy leaks overnight so I didn't need a waterproof one for that.

LyraShaeLilly · 09/04/2021 15:43

Yes I mean a protector, it all adds up this bedding!!

lucyrp · 09/04/2021 16:31

@LyraShaeLilly I don't think I'm going to bother for mine yet, the mattress i have bought has got a cover that zips off and you can throw in the wash and the surface is wipable. As for the crib I won't get one for that I don't think as I didn't have one last time just sheets

wimbler · 09/04/2021 17:08

@lucyrp oh I couldn't live without one on her cot. It's saved the mattress numerous times, especially during a nasty stomach bug!

lucyrp · 09/04/2021 17:10

@wimbler I don't think I ever used one with DS in his cot !
