mummyofaprincess · 20/11/2007 19:39

awww im glad everything went well for you paranoidmummy I think i will feel the same on thursday as my scan isnt until after 2oclock.
My 12 week scan was at 9am so didn`t really have much time to worry about it, as i had to get DD ready etc

paranoidmummy · 20/11/2007 19:44

vs - happy anniversary i find it very scary when i think of being in labour with ds - seems like it wasn't v long ago and is now over 4 years! time flies as i get older!

i know what u mean about diff bumps - mine looks like a beer belly i think - all hard and pointed out. bulbous comes to mind!!!u agree with dh tho, he thinks it a boy. i was pos its a girl but as time goes by i'm not so sure... either way as long as its healthy i'm happy. cliche but true.

thank you mummyofaprincess. i'm sure yours will be wonderful too. so so exciting to see the lo

mummyofaprincess · 20/11/2007 20:06

I really cant wait At my 12 week scan the LO didnt move much at all, where as DD at the 12 week scan was jumping kicking etc
Im hoping this time the LO will be very active and doesnt cross its legs like DD did, we had no choice but to have a suprise last time but i really want to know what im having this time and so does DP. DP thinks this ones going to be a boy but im not sure i`m either way.

gemprincess · 20/11/2007 21:06

Just want to say thankyou for all the information on vbac's... Will print it and take it. Going to stay strong, my 1st section was due to severe PET and hellp, My second was due to position of baby and 3rd i was given no choice though all was well..Now i know i do have choices.

gemprincess · 20/11/2007 21:16

Happy Birthday scorpio and congrats on your scan PM..

scampmum · 21/11/2007 08:57

Morning all! Congrats on the scan, PM, what a relief!

DH felt the baby kick last night! Suddenly went mental (have only been feeling it properly for a couple of days) and he got loads of movement. Makes me suspect it's another (Daddy's) girl.

Literally EVERYONE thought I was having a boy last time based on the shape of my bump. They were wrong.

DD did her first poo in the potty this morning! I wasn't there but I got a jubilant message from DH as I was eating my breakfast at my desk. Am so ridiculously proud of her.

lemonaid · 21/11/2007 09:10

My bump is exactly the same as last time, but (assuming scan was right) two differently sexed babies.

Soph73 · 21/11/2007 09:11

Morning all. So pleased for you paranoid & glad everything went well. scampmum - aahhh, what a big girl your DD is I´m still not really feeling any movement so am still winding myself up. DH keeps telling me not to worry but I just can´t help myself. I keep looking at my tummy & willing it to move

Soph73 · 21/11/2007 09:12

My bump is completely different this time. This bump looks as though it starts just under my boobs and goes all the way down & round, whereas with DS it stuck out like paranoid´s does, so it´s got to be a girl

TLSM · 21/11/2007 10:10

Hi All Well I have been having a bit of a time of it lately! last Wednesday i had another slight blled so was sent to the EPU and had another scan the baby looks fine and they cant see a reason for the bleed they think it could be stress because so much crap is going on at work! I have then worked right through the weekend as had a show on the DS started being ill on Saturday night so not only working but having to look after him at night as DH is useless at 3 in the morning! turns out he has a ear and chest infection bless him I have had to take today off work as have run out of people to look after him and I was meant to be going to the England match so double

On a positive note nice to see everyones scans are going well. Good luck to everyone over the next couple of days as it seems there are loads I have my 16 week check with my midwife on Monday (will be 18+2) so hopefully that will go well then next Sunday its my dads birthday and on the Monday we are taking DS to Harrods to see father Christmas and put the decs up oh i love the fun up to christmas

VictorianSqualor · 21/11/2007 11:10

oh TLSM, I know how horrible bleeds can be hopefully all will be well, you've come so far!

Last night I felt baby moving TONS, and got all emotional, when I was pg witgh DS I knew that the relationship was on it's last legs, and was sure I wasn't going to have any more kids, ever. I cried the night before I had my CS feeling his kicks thinking it was the last time I would ever feel them, but it wasn't

I was laying on the sofa and just kept grinning every time I felt a kick, it's like this wonderful little secret I have, that even when I tell someone, it still can't really be shared, I'm sure you all know kind of what I mean!

Soph73 · 21/11/2007 11:53

tlsm - sorry to hear that you´ve been having a stressy time. At least you got to see lo wiggling about vs - know exactly what you mean, it´s something that can´t be explained, especially to people who haven´t had babies.

Soph73 · 21/11/2007 11:55

On a completely different note - my shoes have just broken and this is only the 3rd time I´ve worn them so am very I´m now having to waft my cheesey feet round the Library to the great delight of the Sixth Form Ha, serves 'em right

V1KK1M · 21/11/2007 12:25

Soph - I don't think I have really felt anything either and I am 21 weeks today so I really wouldn't worry.

I am getting slightly impatient now but there is nothing I can do about it

I'm slightly concerned I will never feel it and I don't know if I am going to bond with my bump if I don't ever believe there is a baby inside (even though I've seen the scans)!

Soph73 · 21/11/2007 12:30

Oh don´t worry you´ll bond OK. We both know we´re bound to feel something soon It´s just really frustrating waiting to feel a proper kick. Although I´ll be wingeing soon enough I´m sure

VictorianSqualor · 21/11/2007 12:43

V1KK1M, one thing I must say is the bump and the baby will probably NEVER have connection in your head, so don't worry about the bonding with bump, it almost seems conincedence that the bump disappears (well starts to) the day the baby arrives!!!

I don't think I felt my first baby til about 22weeks, and even then not enough to know it was definitely baby, the science behind this is the size of your uterus, those of us who have already had babies, our uterus' have already been bigger, so get bigger easier, and quicker, therefore touch our abdomen wall earlier than first-timers. When you uterus is sufficient size to touch your abdomen wall, that is when you will feel baby, you have no real sense of feeling in your uterus the feeling is in the abdo wall so until it touches there ain't nothing gonna happen!!(once it does you'll feel it tons, don't worry)

lemonaid · 21/11/2007 13:02

I was rather startled to discover on Monday that I have an anterior placenta this time, which will be muffling the movements. Which given I felt first flutters at 14 weeks makes me wonder when on earth I would have felt them with a posterior placenta...

EllieG · 21/11/2007 13:23

I always wondered why second timers felt it more - thanks for the info VS.
What is an anterior placenta?

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 21/11/2007 13:27

IIRC anterior placenta is on the front of your uterus, the belly side, rather than on the back of the uterus and in your actual back, iyswim, so the baby would be felt less when the placenta was between the baby and your abdo wall.

EllieG · 21/11/2007 13:28

Ah, thank you. I have a feeling that the feelings might be muffled in my case because of a thick layer of flab though!
Off to have some cake now.

OP posts:
lemonaid · 21/11/2007 13:29

It's when the placenta attaches at the front (i.e. on the belly side of the uterus rather than the back side). It makes it slightly more difficult to feel the baby or pick up the heartbeat, but AFAIK is otherwise of no medical sugnificance at all, although the majority of placentas are posterior (i.e. on the back side of the uterus).

One completely different thing you may hear of that is medically significant is placenta praevia -- this is when the placenta attaches very low down, close to or covering the cervix. That can be dangerous, can lead to complications, and will normally require a c-section if it doesn't resolve itself, but normally a placenta that is low-lying early on will migrate upwards out of the danger zone as a pregnancy progresses.

TheMaskedPoster · 21/11/2007 13:39

TLSM - hope you are feeling better and trying to manage to relax etc ... also we are off to Harrods next Wednesday to see Santa (because he is the 'real one' of course ) - and I can't wait either ... love all the Christmas cheer etc.

Excellent news on your scan PM! Mine is tomorrow and just want everything to be ok etc.

Hope all are well

xx

A mint Aero is green, so that counts as a vegetable, right?

EllieG · 21/11/2007 13:46

Hurray! Someone else who knows food rules. Yes, anything green counts as a vegetable.

I know I´m just stressing because this is my 2nd pregnancy and keep thinking that I should be feeling proper kicks now (am 19 wks). However, am also covered in a thick layer of fat so maybe that has something to do with it lemonaid - great concept
