Hello all - new thread here!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ToastAddict · 14/11/2007 20:47

Bainmarie - government changed nut advice really recently ie since I've been pregnant - they now say there is no reason to avoid it.

You only had to avoid it before if you or baby's father have asthma, eczema or hayfever, I think.

All I know is, I have hayfever, so avoided everything peanutty. And have decided to continue avoiding "just in case", but that is based on nothing scientific, I just don't want to risk it and can cope without a peanut for a few more months. Hate peanut butter!! I know, I'm a freak

Oh god, I don't know, just googled it to try and be more useful, and found this and this So maybe I'm doing completely the wrong thing. Think I'll try and look into it more tomorrow (bath is about to overflow right now!!!) May have to stuff myself with peanuts for the next 5 months to compensate for all those I've avoided!!

Denny185 · 14/11/2007 20:59

Doing a grand job lemonaid, much appretiated (think that might be spelt wrong).

Mmmm nuts, wish you lot would stop talking about food making me hungry again.

Anyway had my bath, in PJs just kicked dog out in the garden, DH on late shift so Im going to bed with a cup of tea (decaf) to watch Im a celebrity - sad wench that i am.

gemprincess · 14/11/2007 21:08

Thankyou lemonaid.. sorry to be a pain!!

ToastAddict · 14/11/2007 21:16

Oh god.
Just had bath. About to get in, looked down.
Can't see my feet

That can't be right......

Piccalilli2 · 14/11/2007 21:23

Toastaddict, I haven't seen my feet for a while now. And yesterday I had to get dh to do up my shoes cos I just couldn't seem to get past my bump to reach them. At this rate I will be completely helpless by the time I'm 7 mths pregnant

ToastAddict · 14/11/2007 21:25

Have been deliberating today on where I would like to go on holiday for my birthday - end of Feb

Now think I may not actually be able to get through front door

lemonaid · 14/11/2007 21:26

I can remember from last time that in the last couple of months if you drop something you have to lower yourself to the floor to pick it up -- and then you ask yourself "Hmm, is there anything else I can do while I'm down here?" because the thought of manouevering yourself up and down repeatedly is just toooo much...

scampmum · 14/11/2007 21:40

Hello all, I'm back. (Anyone miss me?) Took about an hour to catch up so I'm not leaving it that long again.

So far have had

11 week scan (too young for nuchal, told doc I had a long cycle but didn't mind as got to see little one again at...)
12 week scan

Nothing else owing to moving house and having to change surgery, new surgery being SO sh1t that they've lost my registration form (good thing there's no, like, intensely personal information on there...)

Used TotsBots with DD until kept not getting them back from nursery and it was too stressful and didn't want to start having negative feelings about them. Went back into them but then DP got sore bum and immediately caught chickenpox and got it SO badly on her bottom that I nearly died of guilt. Main reason for TB was (Nappy Lady and) drying time as didn't want to use tumble dryer. No complaints (and like tots bots wraps best, plus motherease velcro/aplix) apart from that you need to buy trousers at least a size big. It's honestly, honestly no more hassle than disposables. Take 10 secs to hang out. Bit gross putting them in machine but so is emptying a disp nappy bin if you have one of those twisty ones.

Re weight, was all smug and not putting much on (prob because losing all muscle as was definitely looking fatter) then put on 6lb in last ten days! erm, growth spurt...?

Used Baby Bjorn for ever (long walks is how I dealt with colicky baby and ditched weight) but it did knacker my back a bit, although I was also a terribly slouchy BFer (BF till 9 months, Baby Bjorn till maybe 7/8?) so might have been that too. Planning to use BB and buggy next time as am super stingy.

My friend had a little girl today - 12 hour labour and only gas and air, no stitches, sounded great this afternoon - that's for all you first-timers! Oh, and she had two cups of raspberry leaf tea (on her due date, yesterday) and her waters broke 2 hours later.

Have had an f-ing awful two days at work but it's amazing how getting home to DD makes me forget it all in an instant.

Not feeling much, although have been panicking about stomach cramps. Think being high risk DS is affecting me for the first time as am more worried about late-stage mc than I would otherwise be.

scampmum · 14/11/2007 21:47

And the main reason for that post was to say that I'm 29. Forgot to finish the bit about surgery, too - made appointment, left work to come back home and go to it and they first had no record, then told me the clinic had been cancelled but (because they had lost my form) they had no number to call me on. Went back to work and wrote desperate letter to old GP asking them to take me back.

PS who was it who shares my birthday (28th March?) Soph73? I am finishing work the day before - did till 37 last week and really regretted it so stopping at 36 except that's my 30th so (naturally) going the day before.

Haven't told work yet as we get bonuses in Jan and they are deciding them around now - it's getting really obvious now, though, so I might tell them tomorrow.

scampmum · 14/11/2007 21:49

FFS - worked till 37 weeks last TIME.

Oh, and we just moved house and I'm SO delighted I don't have to bend down to get to the fridge anymore! May have been the only reason I managed to keep the weight gain to 30lb last time - couldn't get down to the bloody fridge.

chipmonkey · 14/11/2007 22:51

Who said I was 33? Thanks very much, delighted and all but I am 38!

Sheds75 · 15/11/2007 08:33

Excellent new list

I'm not that big at the moment but I tried explaining to my DP last night he would soon have to start doing up my shoes etc.... not sure he is looking forward to that

eva07 · 15/11/2007 09:12

want a pizza now for breakfast after reading all these posts
I'm 28 at the moment but will be 29 when LO arrives.
We decided not to ask about the sex at the next scan (Dec. 06th) and everyone tells me I will be having a girl but I have this feeling for a few weeks now that it will be a boy (seems to be really fashionable for april babies... )

someone else still feeling nauseous all the time or is it just me?

Soph73 · 15/11/2007 09:37

Morning all! Toastaddict - you never feel grown up (at least I don´t) you just suddenly realise you are Yep scampmum my birthday is on the 28th March.

Soph73 · 15/11/2007 09:37

DH and I have miraculously come to an agreement on names for lo - Sam if it´s a boy and Amy if it´s a girl. However, just realised that I forgot to tell him I like April but I doubt he will

Peachy · 15/11/2007 09:44

We have a sam (well a Samuel but nobody calls him that except me), and April was one of our girly choices too LOL (although we had decided on Taya-Rose). We're down to 4 boys names so far- although there's a good chance it will end up being none of them LOL!

Soph73 · 15/11/2007 09:46

Do you particularly say it when he´s naughty? My brother´s name is Ben and he only ever got called Benjamin when he was naughty

Peachy · 15/11/2007 09:50

Nah, when he's naughty he is known as 'Sam the Spam'

Soph73 · 15/11/2007 09:58

LOL DS is 'Tom the Terror'

MassiveMollyfloss · 15/11/2007 10:04

denny185, did you find the first time that the weight went on regardless of what you ate or were you eating a lot? I have a very healthy appetite and am not holding back but think I'm still being fairly reasonable (sort of) yet the pounds are really piling on! In case I sound like I'm neurotic about my weight, I'm not, just more curious really. I almost find it amusing that I'm becoming rather round but I'm so happy to be pregnant I don't mind! If anything I'm rather proud of my new curves

bainmarie-my doctor told me it is ok eat peanuts just don't go 'nuts' and eat massive amounts and even then it would only really matter if there us a history of allergies. That said there was someone on this thread or another one who warned us all not to go near peanuts as her child has an allergy to peanuts and it's a terrible thing to live with....

Is anyone else getting weird bouts of nausea? Morning sickness stopped a few weeks ago for me but once in a while I'll get really nautious (like 5 mins ago), then throw up and am fine a couple of mins later... this time it was eating a banana that made me throw up... very weird...

eva07 · 15/11/2007 10:18

molly: yep. ate 2 tangerines yesterday and 5 minutes later I huged the toilet.
saturday it was just plain spaghetti without sauce or anything that made me run.
and afterwards I'm always craving Haribo

Peachy · 15/11/2007 10:23

I'm geting bouts of MS again too- annoying. Not toos evere this time though thankfully.

The peanuts link doesn't stand in research any more, so unless you do have that history there's no reason to feel guilty (mind, all aprents of kids with any form of SN do anyway), if I am out and need a snack I may very rarely ahve some cashews (twice so far this pg), but otherwise i just eat normal food and dont check for nuts, but equally dont go looking for them either. A genuinely nut free diet is extremely ahrd to maintain- esp. if you're dairy and gluten free as this household is in different measure.

paranoidmummy · 15/11/2007 11:04

lol peachy at your earlier post! Me, paranoid??? never, not me. Is it def def fine then? its only a cold sauce, like mayo consistency? i do make it sound so appealing!

With ref to nuts i haven't been eating them purposefully but if i fancy something that contains them i will have them, eg satay mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

any one have any scans today?

i'm so jealous of u all having names, we have agreed on a girl's (kind of). every time we start talking about a boy's my dh comes up with ridiculous suggestions so i have given up!!!

paranoidmummy · 15/11/2007 11:05

ps. i quite often feel sicky too but it seems to pass normally. also starting to get acid throat and heart burn a bit
