@Carefree1 don't feel silly at all! That's exactly what the midwives are there for. I would have called too.

Finally managed to find a position that wasn't on my back but also didn't hurt my hips last night! I had my normal pregnancy pillow which helps me not roll onto my back, then a pillow between my lower legs/feet, and one under my bum/hips. I also tried the band the midwife gave me while we went out shopping yesterday, initially I didn't think it helped as my back was sore getting in and out of the car, but actually afterwards I didn't have much pain at all. Normally I'm wincing getting off the sofa in the evening after any kind of walking!

LyraShaeLilly · 29/03/2021 13:26

@PurplePansy05

Oh I see, I'm not keen on a virtual appointments but let us know how it goes I have yet to be convinced!!

PurplePansy05 · 29/03/2021 13:41

@LyraShaeLilly I will go to a shop anyway (JL or elsewhere) when they reopen before buying anything from JL, I'm doing the virtual appt for the discount xx

PurplePansy05 · 29/03/2021 13:43

@Daffodil21 What's that band of you don't mind me asking pls? I wake up every single night with massive pain in left hip, it's ok in the day but the nights aren't good xx

PurplePansy05 · 29/03/2021 13:50

@Alittlexmasmagic Can I just say a MASSIVE thank you for your Boots/AO recommendation, we have just saved ourselves £150 on our Neff appliances for the new kitchen, AND we have another £50 worth of Boots points to spend on the baby 🙌🙌🙌 Couldn't be happier, thank you SOOOO much!!! xx

Daffodil21 · 29/03/2021 14:11

@PurplePansy05 it's nothing fancy at all - literally just a piece did stretchy fabric but seems to do the job!! I'll attach a pic to this post. I only wear it while walking

@PurplePansy05 glad it was helpful. I know the pain of appliance hunting and every last penny helps. It's a minefield x

Wow @Daffodil21 how very organised!! Good idea. Glad you’ve found a comfortable position!

Lovely scan @BertieBotts xx

HopefulB · 29/03/2021 16:42

Awww, lovely scan @BertieBotts!

I think I’ve ordered every appliance in my last 3 houses from Boots! I hope the points don’t expire!! Have the week off and am busy planning renovation of 2 bathrooms & kitchen prior to little one’s arrival - I may be cutting it a bit fine?!

Crap week for us shed got robbed Tues night, they’ve raided various garages/sheds down the street through the week & came back to us last night. Thankfully they couldn’t cut the new lock or hasp and we’ve only lost a security light this time. Makes me
so cross.

PurplePansy05 · 29/03/2021 17:12

@HopefulB I'm renovating the entire house before his arrival, so I'd say you're alright 🤣 So annoying re the shed, get some extra locks and try not to store anything valuable in there. We've just invested £150 in new garage locks because all of our new furniture and baby stuff will be stored there until the renovation is done.

Great little idea, @Daffodil21! I'd do the same but the wardrobe I bought has two separate rails for baby clothes, so this is how I'll be splitting mine.

@Alittlexmasmagic I can't believe I've missed the Boots trick before with appliances, was just about to buy from AO directly. DH has had the Boots card for 10 years if not longer and he didn't know either 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thanks again.

@BertieBotts That's a really gorgeous shot, bless 🥰 He'll be a beautiful boy xx

Daffodil21 · 29/03/2021 17:32

@PurplePansy05 ours also has two rails but so far we have bought clothes in newborn sizes, first size/up to 1 month, 0-3, 3-6 and 6-9..! I wanted to spread the cost a bit and it didn't make sense to have lots for the earlier stages where I'll be on 90% pay well, for 6 weeks anyway) and then have nothing when I'm on SMP and we'll have to be a bit more careful... there's my justification anyway 😂

lucyrp · 29/03/2021 17:53

I never actually used the wardrobe for hanging any items in only outfits people bought us. Just curious what you ladies will be hanging on your rails?!😃

PurplePansy05 · 29/03/2021 17:53

@Daffodil21 Yeah, I've decided to save up some money and spend on more clothes later because I don't know how big he's going to be at birth and how quickly he'll be growing in the first six months or so, these clothes sizes are a minefield! xx

PurplePansy05 · 29/03/2021 17:55

@lucyrp Only the nice clothes, like sets which I might actually iron. I find it easier to find them if they hang together, I do the same with all my clothes that I either wear together a lot and/or iron them. Saves a lot of time xx

lucyrp · 29/03/2021 17:58

@PurplePansy05 I actually never iron anything and I don't even own a tumble drier either🙈 I only iron shirts or certain pieces right before I wear them🙈 I don't have room for a wardrobe this time but wanted somewhere to hang outfits people buy so doing an open wardrobe with shelving under neath for nappies wipes etc xx

Daffodil21 · 29/03/2021 18:00

@lucyrp to be honest I had the exact same thought 😂 I wasn't actually intending on buying a wardrobe but it was included with a changing unit, £30 for both delivered (they're m&p's too). I bought a nice set of dungarees the other day and two body coats (£4 each in the sale!) so they'll go in there at least! And if nothing else, I could do with some more hanging space!

Do any of you mamma's have any cot advice?

lucyrp · 29/03/2021 18:04

@Daffodil21 nice to have somewhere to hang little outfits! What about cots ?

PurplePansy05 · 29/03/2021 18:06

Oh, I've always ironed lots, all my life. Definitely took after my mum, I like my work clothes ironed, Tshirts, towels...lots actually! I just find they are nicer to wear and it's an opportunity to watch silly TV whilst I'm doing it xx

Daffodil21 · 29/03/2021 18:14

@PurplePansy05 you sound like my mum! She genuinely enjoys ironing! I'm personally not a fan so I've made sure everything is tumble dryable 😂

@lucyrp sorry I wasn't very clear! We were considering a next to me type one, but I'm not so sure now. I'm a bit worried it'll make him really dependant on me, and my DH won't get to bond as much? I'm planning on expressing milk so it won't always have to be me doing the feeds, but this is of course assuming I can BF and express. I also can't seem to find one I like, even though they basically all look the same 😂

lucyrp · 29/03/2021 18:19

@PurplePansy05 I know someone like that too, although I'm not sure any of my friends iron either. I don't have anywhere to store one otherwise I might but then I don't really have time to iron 🙈x

@Daffodil21 ohh! Last time I just had a small swinging crib from mothercare which I'm planning on using this time but I also am being given a snuzpod from a friend to use too. I think we'll use the crib upstairs and the other downstairs! This is the one I have xx

LottSE20 · 29/03/2021 18:33

@lucyrp same, I never iron if I can help it. On the rare occasion I can’t avoid it I’ll iron it just before I wear it. I’m afraid our baby might be a crumpled scruff bag ☺️

I’m impressed how organised you all are - I have bought absolutely nothing!

lucyrp · 29/03/2021 18:36

@LottSE20 I never find our clothes are thay crumpled, I think it just depends on how you dry them doesn't it. My baby will be the same don't worry 🙈 I haven't bought much yet or rather spent much, I've spent about £200 and I've got the cot, drawers and mattress !

PurplePansy05 · 29/03/2021 18:38

@Daffodil21 I am set on Chicco Air. They can be freestanding if you don't want it next to your side of the bed and fold easily for travelling as a travel cot, also come with a travel bag. The sides are see through and allow lots of air flow which I like as well. One side has a zip and come down easily if needed and it has 6 different height settings. I found an offer online: crib with mattress, mattress protector and two fitted bedsheets for £140 and I'll be buying it.

I suppose if you're not planning on BF in the night the next to me is not so useful, you can probably do just with a cot with regulated height settings so your LO can still be close to you in the same room to follow SIDS advice. xx
