@LyraShaeLilly I've had mine done already. It's fine as long as it's done properly so at a hairdressers although if you normally get the same colour it might not take the same whilst pregnant. I will continue to have mine done throughout

MrsB2019x · 23/03/2021 10:26

@LyraShaeLilly I dyed all of my hair a couple of weeks ago, from what I’ve read it’s fine, you just might react differently to the dye.

I have come to the conclusion that I’m never going to sleep properly again 😩 so over waking up every 1.5/2 hours!

Caz1226 · 23/03/2021 10:46

Hi everyone
Just curious I’m 19 weeks today and my appetite is ridiculous
I feel like throughout the day I’m just constantly hungry- I lost a stone in weight in early pregnancy due to HG and I haven’t put much back on really and I’m trying to have healthy meals and snacks but I just can’t seem to curb it in the day
Is anyone else similar? Xx

PurplePansy05 · 23/03/2021 11:31

I had my hair done last week (the perks of hairdressers being allowed to open in Wales, yay! 😁). SO happy I had it done. My hairdresser requested that I pop in for a patch test before due to being pregnant. I had bleach & colour (highlights) and toner and it was all fine. It's ok to do it in pregnancy, just worth checking before if you don't have an allergic reaction to bleach/dye, things may change in pregnancy in that regard xx

PurplePansy05 · 23/03/2021 11:35

Congratulations on your new job @WolfMother326! I'm so glad to read again on this thread that the current and future employers' attitudes have been supportive to all of us so far, such a welcome change. Finally! xx

MrsB2019x · 23/03/2021 11:39

@Caz1226 Yep, after having bugger all appetite in the first trimester I am constantly starving now! I was downstairs eating a bowl of cereal at 4:30am the other day because I woke up so hungry 🙄

Congratulations on the new job @WolfMother326 🥳

WolfMother326 · 23/03/2021 11:41

Thanks @PurplePansy05 and @MrsB2019x - and yes, it is a relief not to be treated appallingly and see attitudes hopefully changing a bit (at least in my field in the university sector, where historically they haven't been good or supportive to women).

biscuitcat · 23/03/2021 11:56

@WolfMother326 I'm feeling very lucky with my job - I started a new one in September on a one year contract but that was made permanent so I have maternity plus work to go back to! I was training for the previous 3 years and teaching before that, and luckily all of that has counted for continuous service so I've even got the enhanced maternity pay. So glad to hear yours has gone well too, it does feel quite nerve wracking telling an employer.

I had my 20 week scan this morning and all looking healthy 🥰 though baby was being stubborn and we had to go for a walk and have a hot chocolate to get them into the right position! Pleased that we managed to keep the sex a surprise too, no accidental reveals 💛

LyraShaeLilly · 23/03/2021 12:38

Thanks all

I still don't have my full appetite back, still have nausea, just about to do the food shop and its soo hard to meal plan as I don't fancy anything!!

lucyrp · 23/03/2021 13:00

@Caz1226 yep I honestly can't stop eating. Never been a breakfast person but I eat like 3/4 things for breakfast e.g this morning had some special K, a yoghurt, a banana and a piece of toast. I then have to snack small meals until tea time otherwise I'm ravenous between meals. I also lost a stone between week 6 and 12.

PurplePansy05 · 23/03/2021 13:07

I'm more hungry than ever now too. Exactly the same as you @lucyrp, every morning there's porridge with fruit or bran flakes with fruit and greek yoghurt. Then a banana. Then a blueberry cereal bar. This might see me through till lunch but I'm hungry by 12.00. Then a compulsory apple after lunch. A slice of homemade loaf at 3-4pm. I try to eat healthy lunches and homemade dinners. I also try to make sure I drink more water and orange juice every day. Someone suggested orange juice with bits before - thank you!! This and prunes have helped my digestive system so much! xx

lucyrp · 23/03/2021 13:10

@PurplePansy05 exactly how I am. Have to snack all day otherwise I get that deep hungry feeling I've mentioned before. Although like you say trying to make sure my snacks are fruit etc or healthyish and now we're moving into nicer weather I've found myself eating more salad etc anyway.

Smurf123 · 23/03/2021 13:34

I'm constantly snacking atm.. Which makes a big difference from the early weeks where I could barely eat anything.

For those of you who have felt movement...Once you started feeling it have you felt it every day??
I'm 20+5 and do have an anterior placenta but I was sure I felt movements Saturday and Sunday.. One or 2 yesterday but then nothing really today.. Can't help but worry a bit.

lucyrp · 23/03/2021 13:39

@Smurf123 I had thought I'd started to feel a pattern as they were moving in the morning at about 6:30 and then at about 8:30pm every day but sometimes it's stronger than others and I'm like umm was that them or was I just imagining it. Like today at about 11 I think I felt something but not entirely sure

wimbler · 23/03/2021 14:44

@Smurf123 there is definitely a pattern in my movements. I'm 21 weeks but this is my second so I started feeling movements much earlier this time round. Baby usually gets excited after I eat or drink and I always feel them move on the sofa in the evening. My first was pretty much the same. I have a slightly anterior placenta (on the left side) this time round and I definitely feel the baby on the right far more regularly

Inmypjsagain · 23/03/2021 15:21

Hi ladies, hope everyone is doing well!

@WolfMother326 congratulations on the job! 😊

Good to hear people’s appetites returning to normal. I’m still eating what I can, nausea and vomiting is still strong with me (I’m 20 weeks now! So unfair, it should have ended by now?!) so I’m still eating what I can. I still can’t tolerate vegetables- sight or smell!

Movements- I had a few days of definite pattern of mornings and evenings but that’s stopped in the last few days. (Im anterior placenta) I have my scan on Friday... I think I’d normally be worried but my bump has made an appearance now, which makes me less nervous. A lot of my jeans aren’t doing up now so I bought a maternity pair. Must admit I don’t really like the body changes, I just feel like I’m gaining weight, which I know is a human growing in me but my instinct is to go for a run. Was a little surprised at how dismayed I was that my trousers didn’t do up, made me wonder if I’ll ever wear them again. No stretch marks yet. I’ve gone up to a J cup now, sure my boobs will be stretch marked soon... I know it’s silly to worry but I do wonder what my body is to look like after this? I can see I’ve lost my waist, my back seems to have got fatter, my boobs will surely just end up being empty sacks. .. pregnancy is much harder than I thought it would be in a lot of ways (caveat to say I’m so thankful for the pregnancy and my body is being so clever, but the changes are hard!)

Inmypjsagain · 23/03/2021 15:22

Ok that post ended up much longer than I thought! Sorry for the moan!

Alsh · 23/03/2021 16:22

Hi everyone! I hope everyone's well and enjoying the sunny days! Just wanted to ask if you had blood pressure and urine test done on your 16th week appointment with midwife? Or is it all by telephone now (due to covid19)? Thanks 😊

BertieBotts · 23/03/2021 16:38

I feel movement every day now, but I didn't every day when it first appeared.

Inmypjsagain · 23/03/2021 16:40

Hi @Alsh my 16 week appointment was over the telephone, as are my next 2 appointments so I’m not sure when these tests will done 🙈 some of the ladies on here did meet with a midwife and heard heartbeats so hopefully they can let you know :)

Daffodil21 · 23/03/2021 16:56

Hi @Alsh yes, I had my blood pressure taken and she said 'did you bring a urine sample with you' but I hadn't because I didn't know I needed to! She said I could just do it at my 22 week app though.

@Inmypjsagain every time I look in the mirror I am both horrified and in disbelief that my body is growing a human. I did not expect my thighs to be massive, I didn't expect the amount of stretch marks I have and where they are (thighs, bum and boobs) etc, and this is only the halfway point. I especially didn't expect all that to happen before 20 weeks, but I know a lot of it is to do with the medication I was taking to help support this pregnancy so 🤷‍♀️ so don't worry, you're not alone in feeling a little uncomfortable with what you see!

Sorry to all those feeling sick still, I really feel for you!

@lucyrp lovely hear you've also found MN super supportive, but sorry you had a MMC. I've also found a friend for life on here, it's funny how you can 'meet' people online!

Inmypjsagain · 23/03/2021 17:31

@Daffodil21 it’s odd, isn’t it? It’s so conflicting because on the one hand is terrifying and the other amazing! Stretch marks are such a nuisance aren’t they, I’ve been using mama mio body wash and body butters but I think the fact I’ve not get any yet is pure fluke! Are you on medication for the duration of the pregnancy? Anyway I should just focus on what’s happening inside and worry less about appearance! xx

Daffodil21 · 23/03/2021 17:41

@Inmypjsagain I've been using stretch mark cream but it's clearly not doing any good! I stopped taking the steroids a few weeks ago and I've reduced the progesterone dose and due to come off it tomorrow, so hoping my weight gain will be a bit steadier now! Yeah I've sort of given up caring how I look now! Not a lot I can do about it!! As you say, just focus on the inside!

Inmypjsagain · 23/03/2021 17:51

@Daffodil21 yeah, as you say steady gain! I think it was said 1lb a week? I haven’t weighed myself for ages now as I don’t want to know! I think maybe going to the scan and seeing the baby looking bigger might also make me feel a bit better!
I think the stretch mark are genetic, am sure I’ll be joining you soon with that! Hopefully when the babies are here we’ll forget about all the body stuff (though I am intrigued what my boobs are going to end up looking like!)

Smallbean27 · 23/03/2021 17:54

@Alsh my 16w was face to face, they didn't do heartbeat though, said that would be at the next one x
