You're absolutely not being ridiculous!! 2 nights and mixing in a large group weeks before due date would make me super nervous.
On balance, hopefully covid rates would be far less by then, you'll be close-ish to a hospital....but of course risk will be higher in third trimester. Perhaps you can go just for the day?
It's a real tricky one. Definitely follow any advice from your consultant and hopefully your family can support your decision. x

Can you wait and see how you feel about the wedding or do you need to book rooms etc?

For a bad back you need to stick to slings or carriers which are ergonomic. So avoid the baby Björn or the generic buckle type carriers which hang all the weight off your shoulders as these will put a lot of strain on your back. Something that transfers weight to your hips like an ergonomic Buckie carrier or any kind of wrap or something that you tie like mei Tai type are ok (wide straps prob best) these spread the weight out more evenly so it isn't putting strain on your back. And avoid one shoulder carriers like ring slings and anything that lets the baby face outwards.

The reason I liked the stretchy wrap is that you can tie it before you put the baby in. Then you just put them in and out. So easy. I never got the hang of woven wraps or anything that you have to tighten around them while holding them in place, I just found it so tricky to do. I like with the stretchy one that you can take as long as you need to get it right while they're happily somewhere else. It always felt such a stress trying to position them, tighten, secure all while they are wailing because they have been moved and don't feel secure in the new place yet!

LyraShaeLilly · 19/03/2021 23:30

I've already booked and paid for the room as the wedding has been moved twice already.

I don't think I have any other option than to keep the booking and see nearer the time!!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 20/03/2021 01:42

Hello ladies.

It's been a manic week work wise. Was working 11 hour shifts all week and @Dia12 I am shattered. So shattered that I can't sleep now.

Also - I'm finally moving this weekend. Yay 😁. Very excited but also just very exhausted. I went for my first walk this week for 45 minutes but noticed I'm getting abit Slower.

Hope all of you are well and have a great weekend with your families, babies and bumps ♥️x

lucyrp · 20/03/2021 05:53

I have been awake since around 1:49am. Awake and then asleep then awake again 😫 I can manage to sleep fine until midnight ish so have been going to bed around 8 to geg a good 4/5 hours in

We are going away for the weekend when I'm about 32 weeks in the middle of June for a break which I think is going to be fine

Jessicapebbles · 20/03/2021 05:54

Morning guys!
If anyone if a cloth nappy user, I’m selling the last few bits on ebay so feel free to have a look. jespea-7589

MrsB2019x · 20/03/2021 09:31

Hope the move goes well @Whatshouldbemyusername!

wimbler · 20/03/2021 09:47

@BertieBotts interesting what you say about the baby bjorn carrier. We have the baby bjorn one carrier which I never had any problems with. it's got a really wide hip belt and a newborn insert type setting and we used this until our daughter was around 1. Do you mean the older style baby bjorn ones, they're more the crotch dangler ones?

Dia12 · 20/03/2021 10:16

Really hope you find some time to unwind @Whatshouldbemyusername, sounds pretty full on. Good luck with the house move! Once you're in your new place, make time to rest.
Hope you can manage to get your sleep routine sorted too @lucyrp.
We'll all be pros at sleepless nights with babies xx

I'm taking zita west supplements for 2nd trimester and noticed that the calcium and magnesium content is quite low so have started topping it up with separate calcium and magnesium supplements. Is anyone else taking these too?

LaceyMermaid · 20/03/2021 10:39

@BertieBotts I have 3 boys and honestly I love it! I found it easier to have all the same and was more than happy to have a fourth this time too. There’s no right or wrong way to feel but I just wanted to reassure you I have loved it (they are 12,16 and 17 now so I have experienced it all now!)

I had a carrier with my second but it hurt my back, was 16 years ago now though. I do like the idea of one though.

I’ve had to stop exercise as my pelvic pain is too bad, I had it in my second pregnancy too but not my third. I had only been going for long walks anyway but it’s got to the point where I am struggling to walk afterwards now. Hoping it will get better.
Interesting chat about the vaccine, I’m currently isolating as after one week back at school (teacher) my bubble has burst and we have covid cases. Really scary that I’ve been in the same room as it and even more scary that my work weren’t happy for me to isolate as I hadn’t been in contact with the people (eg within 2 metres) but I had been in the same room all week. Luckily track and trace said I had to isolate which I’m relieved about as there’s been more cases since.

lucyrp · 20/03/2021 10:44

@Dia12 being completely honest I'm not taking anything at all. I only took the folic until week 12 then stopped that and haven't taken anything since.

HopefulB · 20/03/2021 10:48

Morning all!
Just really enjoyed my bodybalance class, lots of tight bits so no wonder my back was feeling it a bit beforehand!

@LyraShaeLilly is any of the wedding outdoors? That would make a big difference for me. If it was an outdoor reception for a close family wedding & I had no other risk factors, I think I’d be ok with the 100 odd people, and would ensure I had my maternity notes and knew the closest hospital & the route there. Most of the covid concerns seem to be around Pre-term birth and by 37weeks, this wouldn’t be such and issue. Also when the pandemic started I think we knew so little about transmission that if you were COVID positive on admission to labour ward you may have been denied skin to skin contact, however RCOG now state this should be offered as normal.
It would definitely be worth reading through the full RCOG guidance to see how you feel about the risks after being filling informed.

The other thing to consider is ‘long COVID’ lots have colleagues have really struggled with fatigue post infection - even relatively mild infections, and this would be very hard with a new baby!

If you don’t feel you can go, I’d have an early
Conversation with bride & Groom, explain your anxieties - but also from their perspective that you understand they’ve had a rubbish time rearranging, that you’ll be really sad to miss the event, you wouldn’t like to detract attention from them if you went into labour on their big day/ wouldn’t want to cause anxiety in family if you did pick up the infection in pregnancy. You could suggest a time for a video call with them on the day so you still get to see the bride & pass On good wishes? Or ceremony may be able to be live streamed?

LyraShaeLilly · 20/03/2021 11:36

@HopefulB

Thats some really good points, the ceremony and reception is indoors but as it's summer I could spend most of the mingling bits outside!!

BertieBotts · 20/03/2021 11:58

@wimbler yes, the older ones. The new one is ergonomic like the Ergo, Tula, Boba etc :) that's why I think their reputation is somewhat undeserved! But the older style of carrier won't be comfortable for as long.

PurplePansy05 · 20/03/2021 16:00

Good luck with the move @Whatshouldbemyusername! I hope it goes well for you. Make sure not to push yourself with unpacking everything asap, things csn wait. Don't oveerstimate your energy right now, from experience! 💐

I am in bed, exhausted right now. DH had his covid vaccine, he's not even 40 yet but I think I've mentioned before he has a heart defect, so we suspect this is why he got invited so early. He had the Oxford-Astra Zeneca one and he is completely wiped out. I had to rush around doing everything for the last few days because he's just unable to do anything, bless him. That horrible broken feeling as if flu was about to begin, you know. He's a bit better today, but I'm just totally exhausted now after all the cooking, cleaning, picking things up, deliveries, looking after our pets on my own etc. He was tossing and turning and I woke up at 2am, then just got up at 6am and cracked on. I am proud of myself, I did my hip and back exercises and the Kegel ones today 😊 Then I just sat down in silence with a cuppa looking at our garden, it was blissful. But now I have no energy left whatsoever after a busy day. Off to have a nap and then we're cheering on Wales tonight!!! Even got some alcohol-free beers for the occasion, Cymru Am Byth!💪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Hope everyone is having a good weekend! xx

MrsB2019x · 20/03/2021 20:46

@PurplePansy05 Your poor DH, and poor you too! Most people I know who have had the Oxford one have been wiped out in one way or another. 100% worth it though! Glad you can relax tonight, we’re watching Wales v France too

For whatever reason over the last day or 2 the scanxiety over the 20 week scan is creeping in. It’s not til 31st so got a bit of a wait but I’m convinced we’re going to get there and something is wrong. Movement isn’t strong or consistent yet so I have no reassurance from that ☹️ Not even 100% convinced that what I’m feeling is movement! Probably being silly but can’t help but worry

lucyrp · 20/03/2021 20:52

@MrsB2019x mines on the 30th so I think it's actually really close! Only 9 days for me. Get the scanxiety though. My movement isn't consistent either and OH hasn't felt it yet either so I'm convinced I'm making it up in my head !

MrsB2019x · 21/03/2021 04:32

Waking up at 4am because I’m hungry is a new low for me 😂🥱

HopefulB · 21/03/2021 07:01

@MrsB2019x how about 5am because the dog is whimpering to go out because she has defeated the fox proof food bin, stolen a pork bone and now needs to 💩 So much to the start of her sleeping downstairs!

lucyrp · 21/03/2021 07:16

Yaaay I finally had a good nights sleep, only woke once from memory and that was because my OH got up to go to the loo then went back to sleep fine and woke at 6😁

MrsB2019x · 21/03/2021 08:45

Oh @HopefulB noooo! 😖

Carefree1 · 21/03/2021 09:56

Oh no @HopefulB not the best wake up call!

I had a private scan on Friday and found out we’re having a baby girl 💗. Was such a relief to see that she’s doing well. Hopefully the 1st April rolls around quickly for my NHS one!

Hope everyone’s having a lovely weekend xx

CountryGirl84 · 21/03/2021 10:31

Congrats @HopefulB lovely to find out you’re having a girl! 🥰

I saw the midwife last week and she located the heartbeat with the Doppler so it was a relief knowing baby’s doing well! I’m going to try waiting for the 20week one when we’ll find out the sex. Feels so far away though!

MrsB2019x · 21/03/2021 10:42

Congratulations @Carefree1 how lovely! 💖

CountryGirl84 · 21/03/2021 10:55

Sorry I meant @Carefree1 ! Gosh pregnancy brain is really kicking in! 🤦‍♀️
