Another sleepless night for me. I've been up since 2:30am again....I'm physically exhausted but just can't sleep through the night.
I think I'm getting increasingly anxious about the 20w scan next week....plus can't feel baby at all and worried that my worrying is harming the baby. I know, it's ridiculous.

We haven't bought anything yet....nothing at all...except for "my daddy is my superhero" baby romper that I want to surprise DH with after the 20w scan 🤞🏼

A very kind friend has offered to lend me her co-sleeper crib, pram and breast pump! Really sweet offer.

Carefree1 · 16/03/2021 09:26

Wow, some of you ladies are so organised! I’ve not bought anything yet - not even a fancy tummy rub moisturiser. I’m just scared to have anything in the house if doesn’t go well at 20 week scan. I think after that point, I’ll start looking.

Sorry you’re not sleeping well @Dia12. I have a paint by numbers app on my phone and it seems to help ground me and clear my mind again to get back off to sleep. Sounds bizarre, but works for me.

Good luck to those having scans today xx

HangryDoughnut · 16/03/2021 10:07

Haven't bought anything over here either, my DD is only 20 months so I've still got all her things to reuse. I think the only thing we'll need is another cot really!
When my DD was born we were in the middle of renovating a house and I had 1 small kirby box of things for her.. I think I only had 1 pack of nappies!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ I wouldn't recommend being as disorganised as me but it's easy enough to get things as and when you need them.

HopefulB · 16/03/2021 11:36

Morning all!

Sorry you’re not sleeping well @Dia12. Last night I actually slept better, than the last few nights! OH says it’s ‘cos he wedged me in place!!

I met @Champson at the JR Pre appointments, this morning - hope all went well & you’re happier with this consultant!

All is well with us, 16weeks mark ticked off! LO was VERY active, we had a thumbs up, then sucking thumb, hand behind head & lots of kicking, all whilst hanging around upside down! Bump has definitely made a full on appearance in last 2 days too, so all very exciting!!!

Also feeling very proud as I managed not to get off the bike on the hill to the hospital! So just the 20weeks scan to go to say I cycled to all my appointments!! (I know I will have to get off and push the hill next time as today was at max recommended heart rate)

lucyrp · 16/03/2021 12:20

@HopefulB oh did you have a scan at 16 weeks?

wimbler · 16/03/2021 12:41

@MrsB2019x no we are keeping the sex of the baby a surprise. we did for our first as well. If my husband had his way he would find out but the compromise is that he is the one to tell me what we had when she came out!

Champson · 16/03/2021 12:47

MUCH happier, thanks @HopefulB for the lovely welcome to Oxford :) Yeah, such a big difference between here and Stoke Mandeville. Unbelievable!!

So all good here - three heartbeats, three good sizes, and.... they THINK it's three girls! 😮 DH not too impressed 😂

So I'm now 💖💖💖until told otherwise at 20 week scan in 3 weeks' time!

Champson · 16/03/2021 12:49

And congrats @HopefulB - so so glad your outcome was good today!!

MrsB2019x · 16/03/2021 12:56

Congratulations @HopefulB and @Champson! How lovely you could meet in person too ☺️

HopefulB · 16/03/2021 13:21

@lucyrp, yes, the RMC team here have been really supportive, and when I emailed my specialist nurse after 12weeks scan I said I was anxious about waiting to 20weeks due to my risk factor for late miscarriage/stillbirth and she said she could book me in for a 16week scan with her.

That’s it now- discharged from RMC, with a promise to send a photo when LO arrives!
Next step will be to ‘meet’ my Consultant at 20 week telemedicine appointment.

@Champson, so glad you had a positive experience too! OMG to 3 girls!!

lucyrp · 16/03/2021 13:24

@HopefulB oh that's helpful! I've really been struggling sleeping these last couple of weeks and think it's because of the anxious wait for 20 week scan. Its been 6 weeks since I saw them last 🥺 terrified of going for my next one

HopefulB · 16/03/2021 13:36

Completely get that @lucyrp, although this time my anxieties had eased a little as bump appeared at the weekend and I figured if babies growing that’s a good sign! How many weeks to your next scan?

Whatshouldbemyusername · 16/03/2021 13:43

Congratulations @Champson - three girls 🥰🥰🥰 and so lovely that you and @HopefulB met in person! Aaaw. Congrats to you too @HopefulB x

@Dia12 im not sleeping too well either so I understand how you're feeling. I try nap in the day if I can but this week is manic at work. I've got deadlines after deadlines all the way till Friday. Been taking working lunches too!x

Everyone with their scans this week - all will be well ♥️x

lucyrp · 16/03/2021 13:43

@HopefulB yes I have a blossoming bump but it doesn't seem to have changed since about 14 weeks for me so still worry about that. My next one is on the 30th🥺

Carefree1 · 16/03/2021 14:06

Aww congratulations @Champson & @HopefulB glad both your appointments went well!

I’m not sure if I’m feeling any movement or not. I feel like I almost get a twitch or spasm somewhere between my belly button and knicker line 🤷‍♀️ Xx

Dia12 · 16/03/2021 14:10

Awww that sounds lovely @HopefulB - looks like little one is at home in there with hands behind the head 💕
And how nice you got to meet each other @Champson - congrats on your wonderful three 💖💖💖.....DH will have his hands full.

Don't know how you're managing that busy schedule @Whatshouldbemyusername. I can barely function. Hope you get to put your feet up this weekend.

The paint by numbers sounds relaxing, thanks for the suggestion @Carefree1 x

Daffodil21 · 16/03/2021 14:59

Is anyone feeling a little nervous about everything opening up in the summer, just before we're all due?

It's sort of just suddenly hit me that we'll have a newborn when the country has just opened up and who knows what infection rates will be...

I'm not going to sit here and overly worry about it because that won't help, and we don't really know what will happen, but ridiculously the realisation has just hit me!!

Carefree1 · 16/03/2021 15:08

@Dia12 the paint by numbers is a little random, but I find it helps. Same with just colouring for me xx

MrsB2019x · 16/03/2021 15:19

@Carefree1 I’m spending a lot of time doing colouring by numbers too, it’s so relaxing! I love that I don’t have the stress of picking out colours, what goes well together etc 😂

Is anyone else finding they are having to eat 2/3 hourly? My portion sizes at lunch/dinner are smaller now but I’m needing to snack more to stop getting too hungry and feeling sick. Gonna be the size of a small house by the end of this 🐷

Magik01 · 16/03/2021 17:39

@Champson huge congratulations, three girls is so so wonderful!!

@Carefree1 I’ve been feeling movement since this week, and it’s certainly movement and I would describe it as feeling like a twitch deep inside below my bellybutton above my pelvic bone sort of area! I think it sounds like your having movement!

ElonaWise · 16/03/2021 17:50

Sorry if I have missed a number of chats here, I don't get notifications. Loving reading what you have all bought. I got the Kally pillow and OH MY GOD it's good. Feeling a bit better about being single and pregnant now I have it.

I have a question about the coronavirus vaccine. Are you getting it when pregnant and breast feeding?

HopefulB · 16/03/2021 18:05

@Daffodil21, the way I see it is when everything opens up & people start failing to social distance/ care as much, we will be beyond 28weeks, so I will only be doing essential journeys/sticking to rule of 6 and meeting outside only/ going to the outdoor pool if it opens. I have no intention of putting myself at any increased risk, and due to lifestyle can quiet easily become a hermit for the last 12weeks!

Once the LO arrives I will be hoping to be vaccinated ASAP and then if I manage to breastfeed, hoping that confers some immunity to LO. However as it will be summer I’ll just try and arrange things outside to minimise risks.

@ElonaWise, as above I am hoping to breastfeed & be vaccinated at that point. I would only get vaccine in pregnancy if I thought is couldn’t minimise risk of infection, and I I was doing so I would get it in second trimester so that I was covered for third trimester when mum/baby are more likely to get unwell if infected.

Daffodil21 · 16/03/2021 18:06

@ElonaWise definitely not when pregnant, and I'm hoping there's enough research by then to show it's ok for breastfeeding

LyraShaeLilly · 16/03/2021 18:09

@ElonaWise

I recently stated that I would wait until I was 20 weeks to have the vaccine as I am NHS. But after speaking to my MW I have changed my mind. I have been given desk duties so my risk isn't massive and I don't have any other health conditions, so for me I am not getting it until baby is safely here. I will be getting it when or if BF.

@Daffodil21 I am so excited for everything to open up and not to have a lockdown baby!! I will still be taking precautions but will be also making the most of it. remember by the summer nearly every adult will be vaccinated which will keep cases low despite all the mixing. And cases were really low last summer anyway and we had no vaccine!!

@Champson
3 girls, how lovely, I'm secretly hoping for a girl!!! I have been reading articles on gender disappointment and after picking the girls name and boys name I know deep down I am happy with a healthy baby. Is this a thing for anyone else, I feel so guilty having a gender preference so have done lots of reading to understand it.

Daffodil21 · 16/03/2021 18:21

@LyraShaeLilly yeah I'm so thankful that things will be opening up in time, I just hope cases continue to lower!

If I am totally honest, after all we've been through to get here I really didn't mind if we were having a boy or a girl (we're having a boy), but if I never end up having a girl I have to say I will be disappointed..! I always hoped for one of each, and then maybe a third which I wouldn't mind either way, but we'll see what happens..!
