@lucyrp hot water bottle maybe?x

lucyrp · 13/03/2021 17:55

@MrsB2019x I feel over balanced already too. Getting anything from high up sends me wobbling!

@Daffodil21 will do! So far it's been paracetamol and a hot water bottle for me!

@Whatshouldbemyusername yes they're my saviours at the moment !

MrsB2019x · 13/03/2021 18:04

DH has just come home from the shop with a bunch of flowers as an early Mother’s Day present from bump 🥰 so cute!

Alittlexmasmagic · 13/03/2021 20:34

@Whatshouldbemyusername I just wear multipack cotton granny knickers a size or two up when my usual knickers become problematic. They're fab post C-Section as well as the waistband is so high up x

If I buy a pram with carrycot that is suitable for over night sleeping, would that be ok for baby to nap in during the day when I am downstairs?

We have snuz pod for upstairs, and I just don't want to be buying another one for downstairs, feel the pram would be sufficient if it's suitable for sleeping, but I just read a case in Australia about a baby dying when sleeping in a pram!

It's the silver cross wave travel system i am thinking of getting?

MrsB2019x · 13/03/2021 23:14

@LyraShaeLilly That’s what I’m planning to do with ours, seems mad to get another sleep vesssl!

MrsB2019x · 13/03/2021 23:14

lucyrp · 14/03/2021 18:48

I think baby has been very active tonight so trying to get OH to feel it and he's getting annoyed because he can't and now I'm even questioning if I can feel them at all 🥺

HopefulB · 14/03/2021 20:24

Evening all, hope everyone’s has a relaxing weekend- it’s been quiet on here.

Scan on Tuesday & MW Thursday for me this week. Anyone else with a scan this week?

wimbler · 14/03/2021 21:19

@DressyGerbera I would really recommended the positive birth company digital pack. It’s about £40 but is a series of online videos you can watch anytime, downloadable mp3s and notes. I loved it with my first and will be re watching this time round.

Carefree1 · 14/03/2021 21:41

Evening ladies, hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.

@HopefulB, exciting week for you. I also have a private scan on Friday. A shorter working week is what’s motivating me for tomorrow x

PurplePansy05 · 14/03/2021 22:54

Happy Mother's Day, mummies to be 💐 DH got me a personalised card from the bump, lush 💙

So I had a slightly adventurous Mother's Day, ended up at the Obstetrics Assessment Unit because my dog has accidentally bounced off my bump today, a complete freak accident that unfolded in a split second as he's normally very good and I'm careful, but it's easily done - I was super relaxed and he got spooked by a sudden noise, bless him. Luckily it wasn't a full on pounce with all of his weight. Anyway, lesson learnt that we have to be even more careful. The little one is fine, I listened to his heartbeat and got checked over by a really kind midwife. Then spent the whole afternoon studying for an exta course I'm doing this week. I'm exhausted now.

Is everyone buying the big stuff now, like cribs, prams, car seats etc.? I wasn't planning on buying anything before say 25 weeks, I want to wait for the 20 week scan, then pop to the shops once they reopen and then knowing me I'll take a fortnight to decide by the time I weigh up all the options...do you think that's too late? Not to mention nursery furniture which will have to wait till June but I bought cushions and wall art already xx

coffeeandrainbows1 · 14/03/2021 22:55

Is anyone else not feeling anything yet?! I’m 20 weeks now but I’m so sure my private scan lady said I had an anterior placenta! I don’t have my nhs scan until I’m 22 weeks 😞 but I’ll be asking to check. I’ve felt tiny little kicks maybe (feels like a tiny tap on my belly) but probably only a handful of times! Getting crazy/paranoid/overthinking/impatient and seeing others saying they’re wide awake from being kicked so I’m hoping it’s not just me at this point! 😂

Champson · 14/03/2021 23:07

@coffeeandrainbows1 I haven’t felt a thing yet and there’s three in there! I’m not very observant about my body in general, but was hoping to feel something by now. I’m 17 weeks today - scan on Tuesday also same as @HopefulB and at same hospital!!! So a bit (very) nervous and excited all the same.

So lovely all the DHs being so cute on Mother’s Day! Mine called his mum tonight and she wished me a happy one through him on the phone and he was like “OH YEAH!! Hadn’t realised” 🙄

Also went for a walk with a neighbour today and it ended up being 2 hours!!!!! I was so knackered- spent the entire day on the sofa after that!

coffeeandrainbows1 · 14/03/2021 23:21

@Champson oh wow really! How fantastic is that!! My pelvis just shivered for you and the weight of three babas 😂 I remember how much my little boy hurt kicking but it took us 6 years and losing two babies to get here so I’m being impatient and desperately wanting to be kept awake by feet to the ribs 😂 hopefully we’ll start to feel more soon!

Dia12 · 15/03/2021 05:24

Having the most awful time sleeping, another night of being wide awake after 2:30am. I thought I'd sleep through the night as I'm running on such little sleep and had an exhausting weekend. It's so frustrating.

I was woken by a strange feeling of my whole lower abdomen/ uterus contacting and it felt so real I don't think I dreamt it. I was lying on my back so quickly changed positions. Anyway got me super paranoid that something is wrong. It can't have been kicks as I've not been feeling anything otherwise and it felt quite strong. Nothing since 🤷🏻‍♀️

lucyrp · 15/03/2021 06:07

My OH didn't get me anything from the bump even though I thought he might. I then showed him all the cards people on insta who are expecting had and he said he thought it was weird him getting me something from them because they're inside me and not him even though I got him a Valentine's Day card from bump and he loved it 🙄 my sleep is getting worse too I find after midnight around 2/3 ish I start rolling backwards and forwards between each side and have to lie on my back for a short period between each side but am worrying I'm falling asleep on my bacj too much but honestly can't get comfy any other way.
Exciting for all who have scans! Mines still 2 weeks away 🥺

Smurf123 · 15/03/2021 06:54

@coffeeandrainbows1 im 19+4 with an anterior placenta too and I haven't felt anything yet either.. Apposite been getting worried about it so glad to hear I'm not the only one!

LyraShaeLilly · 15/03/2021 07:50

Do they tell you if placenta is anterior at 20 week or 12 week scan? They haven't said anything about my placenta?

BertieBotts · 15/03/2021 07:51

@LyraShaeLilly Sleep safety in prams depends on whether it's lie flat or not. If you have a completely flat carrycot with no straps around the baby and it's exactly like a bed then it's fine for them to sleep there. Some are even rated for overnight sleeping (if they aren't then you should always have baby in view so you can see if their face gets obstructed).

It's a problem for babies to sleep in containers such as car seats and pushchair seats that aren't completely flat, the risk is that their heads fall onto their chest , or the baby slides down into a slumped position, which compresses the airways, which can cause suffocation. This is called positional asphyxiation. It's also a risk with those nest type things like Sleepyhead, so I'd recommend if you're planning to use anything like that for naps to read up about positional asphyxiation and how to spot the signs. Otherwise just keep all their sleep surfaces firm and flat (follow the SIDS prevention guidance) and they should be good :) When they get too big for the carrycot, a lie flat pushchair seat is fine but make sure the straps are snug around them so they can't slip out of place.

@PurplePansy05 25 weeks sounds fine, don't worry! Most people do that shopping somewhere between 25-30 weeks ish. You only need to allow 6-8 weeks for delivery if you're ordering your pram/travel system from a proper shop as they don't keep them in stock. Same for nursery furniture generally. If you're buying online or a smaller model or somewhere like Ikea then they may well have it in stock so you can get away with even later. But you'll have plenty of time to decide. I think it's sensible to wait until after 20 weeks, partially in case you prefer to get gendered colours, but partially in case there's any bad news - you can just be a lot more relaxed after 20 weeks. However I always like being prepared and doing early research Blush

@lucyrp Don't worry, it's much easier to feel from inside than outside for a while so it's normal he wouldn't be able to feel what you do straight away :)

BertieBotts · 15/03/2021 07:52

You can ask about the placenta if you want, they don't always mention it.
