Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

@MrsTD88 Aw how lovely. I'm glad she's being so understanding. Definitely take her up on the lie down offer if you need it! Yeah telling people makes it feel real doesn't it. I can't remember who have you told so far?

Tbh nothing helps for long. I've got tictacs but that's short term. I had a crisp sandwich earlier 😂 I just really fancied it. But feeling sick still. Made it through the work Zoom catch up! It was very casual anyway, just a chat to see each other really. I'm mostly in mute because of my son squealing in the background and watching duggee lol. I just want this week to hurry up!!! I need to know!! 🙈🤞🏻🌈

@Pancakes7 we haven't told anyone else at all apart from My Director today and my husband had to tell his Director in advance of our scan on 24th. It was so strange talking about it so openly earlier, making me really excited to tell more people. We want our daughter to be the first to know in the family, she is going to be so happy.

I had a crisp sandwich last night! Oh that's good you got through your Zoom, it is so difficult putting a face on when you feel rubbish isn't it. I find wearing a mask makes me feel really sick, can't bear to have one on for very long. I hope you feel better soon and hoping the next week goes in really quickly for you!

PumpkinEverything · 05/03/2021 13:39

I read that some people get sickness at 8 weeks @Firevie and I was a bit scared, but still nothing!

@MrsTD88 thank you, that’s reassuring to know it disappeared for you! Aw that was nice of her to say that about resting too 😊 and it’s good she’ll keep it a secret.

Hope you start to feel a bit better @Pancakes7 good idea on the crisp sandwich! I loooove them and now really fancy one 😂

I’m feeling a bit happier today that it’s Friday, but also a bit panicked as I’ve realised this time 48 hours I’ll have had my scan 😳 and I know tomorrow will disappear so fast as Saturdays always do!

JRH4622 · 05/03/2021 13:56

Has anyone noticed that they have twinges, niggles in your lower stomach? I have googled it and it says that Relaxin and your growing uterus can feel like pulling and stretching as early as 5wks.
Just checking because I have had them a lot!

Firevie · 05/03/2021 14:10

Omg you ladies have made me want a crisp sandwich now. It will be a chilli wave Dorito crisp sandwich LOL
@PumpkinEverything and @MrsTD88 thanks for the reassurance re sore / painful boobs coming and going. I’m gonna try and stop stressing over it. Xxx

PumpkinEverything · 05/03/2021 14:42

I had that quite a bit @JRH4622 mine felt like very mild period cramps from like 4-7 weeks, and then it turned into like a tugging stretching feeling that wasn’t sore, but felt weird.

@Firevie good choice! I’m going to have to hunt through our crisp box to see which suitable ones we have 😂
I’m a bin again today and can’t figure out if I’m hungry or just bored 🙈 had a bowl of special k for breakfast, then two slices of sourdough with poached eggs for lunch, and then I’ve just ate a bag of crisps and then two chocolate digestives straight after. Still feel like I need more and trying to figure out what I want next 🙈I saw a bowl of coco pops on someone’s Instagram and now I want those even though we don’t have any 😂

PumpkinEverything · 05/03/2021 14:57

I haven’t suffered really, but I’ve just read this in a book and wanted to share incase anyone needs some more tips. Maybe helpful for you @Pancakes7 😊

JRH4622 · 05/03/2021 15:01

@PumpkinEverything Thank you, I haven't felt it in my previous pregnancies...I'm taking that as a win!
After all your talk of food I'm starving again! I never fancy much in a morning even though I'm hungry but in an afternoon I want to eat everything!
@Pancakes7 ginger helps me!

Pancakes7 · 05/03/2021 15:02

@Firevie @PumpkinEverything uh oh what have I started! 😂 mine was a classic ready salted walkers as they help with the nausea a bit too. But yours sounds interesting @Firevie
Thanks for the tips @PumpkinEverything I hate ginger... everyone kept telling me to eat ginger biscuits when I was pregnant with my son but I can't stand it. The other list carrots, avocado etc might be helpful. I just have to force myself to eat them 🙈 feeling like nothing sounds tasty atm.

My nausea isn't great. I've started kale, spinach, banana, mango and apple juice smoothies. A cup of each in the blender and I find it helps the tiredness, nausea and getting some fruit / veg as I'm very much all about the beige food still.

Pancakes7 · 05/03/2021 15:29

@smarty4 That's good, very healthy. I don't think I could stomach that tbh.

Feeling so tired now I could fall asleep. I need time to hurry up so dh gets home. I need sleep!!

PumpkinEverything · 05/03/2021 15:49

Same @JRH4622 😊 definitely don’t remember this before either as the cramps worried me slightly, but taking it all as a good thing now as they’ve never been painful!

@Pancakes7 hopefully some of them help! I was just flicking through and spotted it so thought I’d sent it on as I’ve never heard of some of them for nausea before.

That sounds so tasty @smarty4 ! Love the sound of apple juice in it 😊

Pancakes7 · 05/03/2021 15:59

@PumpkinEverything What book/magazine is that in? I've added some actimel to our shopping as figure they'll be easy to drink and they have Vitamin B6 🤞🏻 I've also added cheese strings and a mini egg yoghurt! 😂

Crisp sandwich sounds so good with loads of butter!!
I'm still off food especially in the mornings but get hunger pains around meal times quite high up in my stomach, so it's a bit confusing! Mostly eating fruit. Cant face dairy which is annoying as it's calcium I need.
Always ready for bed by 9/9.30pm and even sometimes crawl into bed during the day to relax or have a wee 15 min shut eye - dont tell my boss haha. It was only really one day I felt tiredness like a hangover. Time going slowly but cant imagine having to be in an office/converse with colleagues or have other kids to deal with feeling this way. Hope everyone keeps well and staying positive :)

JRH4622 · 05/03/2021 16:03

@PumpkinEverything yeah mine aren't painful, just a little achy!
@smarty4 now I want apple juice!!
My partner gives me a green smoothie every day....he feels like it is the only thing that he can do! He is the worrier!

JRH4622 · 05/03/2021 16:14

@HereWeGoooo nice to meet you on here! I am having cheeky naps too!
I'm exactly the same, struggle in a morning even though I'm hungry but then afternoons are better!

MrsF111 · 05/03/2021 16:43

Hi everyone, I recognise some of the names on here from ttc threads Smile my scan is next week and the nerves have really hit me know. I had a mmc last summer and I’m so terrified of going to the scan and hearing the same news Sad. I’ve felt tired and sick on and off but never thrown up. I keep worrying I’ve made up the symptoms in my heads! That the tiredness is actually just lockdown getting to me and my trousers not fitting is actually just because I’ve eaten way too much and not exercised much since getting my BFP. I didn’t have an early scan because that’s how I found out about the MMC, had a scan at 6 weeks followed by 3 others so that took me right up to the 12 week mark with zero signs of a MC, I had to take medical management at that point. Sorry to ramble on just wanted to talk to people who understand what this is like

PumpkinEverything · 05/03/2021 16:53

@Pancakes7 it was a book I bought called the whole 9 months 😊 has lots of healthy recipes in it too (which I haven’t tried yet, but hope to soon!) good idea on the actimel! They’re tasty too 😊

@MrsF111 I’ve had the same thoughts and can come up with lots of excuses too 😊 how far along are you now? Sorry to ask and bring it up, but can I ask if last time everything looked fine at all your scans last time with baby measuring as normal each time?

JRH4622 · 05/03/2021 17:03

@MrsF111 Hey! Lovely to meet you on here!! I know that feeling of not wanting a scan feels like, I am not having a scan before 8wks because I don't want to activate the stress monster inside me! Ive had 3 MCs and I'm 5+2 today (the days go so fast but then so slow when you count them!)
Keep smiling, hopefully this week flies for you....I will be thinking of you!

Bellabubble · 05/03/2021 17:32

@JRH4622 I have had the occasional twinges along the way - I’m hopefully 10+5 today (3rd pregnancy and the furthest I have got so far) I do remember having them in the other 2 last year as well. Nothing painful, just twinges etc. I’m 36 (37 in the next couple of months!) I tend to overthink things and wondered after my second mc if my oh and I had a potential genetic incompatibility - I find genetics fascinating but my brain has a hard time understanding it!

MrsF111 · 05/03/2021 17:43

@PumpkinEverything I’m 10 weeks 2 days if I go on ovulation, nearly 12 weeks if I go on lmp, I have long cycles! The scans last time I had at what I thought was 8 weeks and was measuring 6.5 weeks with no heartbeat, it was my first cycle off the pill so had no idea about my cycle lengths but actually now I have had a few more months off the week and a half difference matches up to my cycle length, so look about the right size but no heart beat Sad then scan two there was a bit of growth but still no heart beat, scan 3 no growth and they scheduled me in for 2 weeks later to have a final scan and take the medication, in some ways it helped knowing so early on it was likely to end badly but having those 4 scans was terrible, and I also felt like the people scanning me just didn’t care, it was torture for me but I was just another statistic to them. I’ve got to a different hospital this time as I just could cope with it again and the care so far has been worlds apart, so kind and caring, asking how I’m coping mental and just recognising how hard it.

@JRH4622 hi! Sorry to hear about your 3 losses. I know exactly what you mean about time going fast and slow. When I got my bfp it felt like a lifetime away to get to my scan, looking back it’s gone SO quickly!

Firevie · 05/03/2021 17:53

What are we all having for dinner this evening, ladies? I’m getting OH to make his yummy chicken biryani with raita (yoghurt with spices cucumber spring onions and tomatoes). Cannot wait! Xxx

PumpkinEverything · 05/03/2021 18:02

Thanks for sharing @MrsF111 😊 sorry you had to go through all that, as that sounds really horrible and drawn out. Glad you’re getting better support this time as I think that’s so important! It’s good you know what you should be because of tracking so that when you go for your scan and potentially measure a week behind you’ll know that makes sense! What day is it? There’s quite a few girls here with scans next week!

@Firevie I’m having the dinner I didn’t want last night, which is a hello fresh meal of chermoula spiced halloumi with bulgar wheat and chickpea tabbolueh. I like all of these things normally, and I’m obsessed with halloumi, but I’m again struggling at the thought of eating it 😂😂 I actually really want a subway but I’m trying to not even say that to my husband as he’s so easily persuaded for takeaways!
I think I’m so bad. Since my last post about food (where I ate a bag of crisps and two chocolate digestives since lunch time) I’ve also ate 3 Lindt and about 20 pringles. I have a sneaky suspicion my subconscious is telling me to keep eating junk food so I don’t have to eat my real dinner 😂😂👀

Firevie · 05/03/2021 18:06

@PumpkinEverything lol I love your food diaries though I think you ladies are a bad influence on me 🤦🏽‍♀️ As I keep jumping on your bandwagons haha! We hardly have takeaways but obv did this week and I’m craving a Belgian waffle with chocolate and strawberries from this lovely dessert place but I shall resist lol! @PumpkinEverything I didn’t realise you had bad nausea. I don’t even have that so can’t blame the snacking on anything other than myself lol xxx

Pancakes7 · 05/03/2021 18:09

@Firevie I'm having a cheese pizza as I think I can handle it 🙈 I don't really fancy anything tbh but I think I might feel better temporarily if I eat something. Luckily dh is home finally! He's going to do bath & bed with our son so I can just lie down. Such a relief!
