Thought I'd start a new thread

claraq - i agree with you and mixedmama, there isn't any age just when its right for you - I met dh at school, we've been together for 9 yrs now, married for 3 and been very lucky that we've 'grown' together, it either happens that way you grow together or apart, I think that can happen at any point in your life

mm - isn't it awkward when someone says a name that your just not sure about! I'm sure I never say the right thing!

insywinsyspider · 01/11/2007 16:06

claraq - the beauty of the antenatal thread - it seems any topic goes

loucee · 01/11/2007 18:48

Re the relationships - I also agree with what you're saying. Sometimes I wonder if I would be with DH now if I had met him when I was a bit older than when I did (I was 19 he was 24 - that was 11 yrs ago) just because you do grow as a couple and compromise along the way (I don't mean that in a way that I don't love him or have gone off him or anything!)
My sister divorced at 25 then met someone at 32, married at 34, first baby at 35.

buzzybee · 01/11/2007 19:44

Claraq - there's hope yet!! I guess my (biased) view is based on the fact that I'm pretty sure I'd still be with e-H (who I met when I was 28) even tho he had lots of flaws, whereas if I met him now I'm not at all sure I would have married him (the story of our separation is long and I won't bore you here). Also have met and dated quite a few men over the last 4 years and somehow have always seen their downsides. Actually not quite true - one called off the relationship, but four I called off.

Insy - I like Finch/Finn/Flynn! My friend had baby boy on 30 Oct called Micah Cole which I think is pretty cool too. For some reason I'm a huge fan of traditional girls names like Isobel and Emily but quite keen on less trad boys names, go figure.

Have decided to go back and have a private scan done today of heart and bowel so don't have to wait til Monday. They won't be draining fluid so view may still not be good, but would be comforted by a second opinion - wish me luck!!

Claraq - I had a VBAC last time and am hoping for another - I even had to be induced last time and was OK, I know some people try to scare you by saying you wouldn't cope with an induced labour but it worked for me. Although it was a long time since previous section, don't know how much difference that makes, or if you have already waited a couple of years then have all the changes in your body happened that are going to? Maybe someone has more medcal knowledge on here!

And relationships come out of the blue at whatever age - best not to go looking for them IMO. Ex H & I met at 20 & 18 respectively - we got married because there didn't seem to be a reason not to, but ended up growing apart. The couple 2 doors down from me now met at that age and have been together 20+ years. I met DH when I was in late 20s, he's 2 years younger - am very very happy and in the sort of relationship I always imagined when I was at school dreaming of being married with nice house & kids [vomit emoticon!!!] The house would be a lot nicer if I got off my a**e and tidied up right now but DH is in Manchester overnight and I am taking the chance to hog the computer while eldest is at Scouts!

insywinsyspider · 01/11/2007 21:02

buzzy - glad you like the name, dh is thinking about it because he could be Fin, can't find a good name as a middle name and I need to 'sell' him a complete name... also working on Noah and Casper, if its a girl it'll def be Mathilda but I'm having second thoughts about Claire as a middle name
good decision about scan, I hope they are able to tell you what you need to know, let us know x

bambino - glad massage was good, I'm asking for spa vouchers for xmas on the grounds 3 months post birth it'll be great to get pampered!

cazzy - i have sore hips and pelvis too, not long to go now tho

loucee · 02/11/2007 07:53

morning

Insy, good idea to ask for spa vouchers - some of my family and friends were at a loss as to what to get me for birthday/anniversary/Christmas after DD so I got a lot of shop and beauty vouchers and it was so lovely thinking "oh I think I'll have a pedicure next week" or a facial etc, especially once my mat leave money had stopped

I'm worried the wee one has gone breech, woke up with a huge hard lump in the top middle of my bump, didn't want to press too hard but it felt like a head - anyone else breech at this stage?

Yay it's Friday again, Suey is this your first full weeekend in your new home? I hope Lizzer's move it going smoothly.

Amani · 02/11/2007 08:18

Morning all

MM - hopefully he will pick one of those three!
Buzzybee - all the best with your scan. Let us know howit goes.
Cazzy - i left work early yesterday as I was getting strong B-H contractions - ouch
Bambin - at pampering - think I need some 'me' time too.
Loucee - my baby is breech still (am 31 week) when I saw m/w on Tuesday she said to wait until 36 weeks before it is a concern.

loucee · 02/11/2007 08:29

Amani - oh that's good then that I needn't worry yet. Just seems so tight in there as it is so if baby is breech then turns I bet it's going to hurt! I'm 34wks on Monday but have MW apt week today

Good luck with the scan Buzzy, I think you're absolutely right to get a 2nd opinion

Amani · 02/11/2007 08:42

Loucee - oh yes it does feel very tight under the rib cage sometimes and can feel the kicks quite deep in my pelvis too, right near my bladder which gives a strange tickly sensation!

skidaddle · 02/11/2007 09:19

Morning everyone,

amani - I love the name Nael - hope your DH comes round to it! Sami and Daniyal are also nice though so he will have a nice name whatever

buzzy - good luck with the scan

loucee I think my baby turnd at around 34 weeks and I really felt it! It was like a huge big gloop and my whole belly shuddered!! So it's definitely possible.

Insy - great names, esp. Mathilda - very cool

re relationships - I sort of agree with claraq although I do know of lots of successful r'ships which started when both parties were quite young. For me it was important to meet someone who had 'been around the block' first (and my God my DH has certainly done that ) - that way you are with someone who has had lots of relationships, had lots of different experiences etc and so when they decide they want to be with you (and vice-versa), you know they have something to compare it with IYKWIM.

I was completely in love with a bf I had at university when I was 19-21 and he was lovely but I just wasn't ready to commit to him because I hadn't really seen what else the world had to offer. Now I know that you don't get much better than him but I couldn't have known that at the time. Ah well...

dundeemarmalade · 02/11/2007 09:57

hello.
have just taken delivery of latest order from mothercare- bigger jeans , two nighties (still not convinced i'll want to wear them), paper pants and mattress protectors. eeek.

Loucee- mine has been transverse, oblique and was breech at last appt. (31 wks) but mw said not to worry (ha ha ha). have no idea which way up niblet is currently sitting, but have been doing knee-chest/all fours when I have time/energy just in case. i know what you mean about it feeling pretty tight now. i can understand how it can turn from side to side, but doing a full-on somersault sounds painful for both of us!

re. relationships- was a naughty naughty girl in my yoof, and actually met dh the week after had heart utterly broken by as-good-as-married man (we did the honourable thing and nothing happened) while I was trying to finish yet another going-nowhere relationship. so when i met dh i was totally not looking for anything, which seems to have been quite important to us getting together. you never know what or who is going to turn up, although i can see that as lives get more stable this can be less true.

NBheebieGeebies · 02/11/2007 10:07

Oooh hello everyone.
A brand new thread and love the title

Sooo on wednesday i'm 37 weeks. I plan to get some clary sage. Anyone know how it works and have you ever used it?
Never tried it with the other 2 but since they were both late, I quite fancy trying some things to get baby moving.
Midwifes coming next week too to bring all the HB stuff.
Excited

I think we've decided on the name Rowan too. Not like me and dh to agree on a name so early lol.

skidaddle · 02/11/2007 10:11

dundee - I couldn't believe I was going to wear a nightie either and they are sooo ugly but they are brilliant for when you're in hospital and I think pyjamas would be really uncomfortable for a week or so because of bruising/possible tearing.

Hope your baby turns head down soon - plenty of time

skidaddle · 02/11/2007 10:13

NBheebies - never heard of clary sage - what's it supposed to do?

Anyone started perineal massage yet? Apparently some new research showed it does reduce tearing but in first time mums only (us second timers are probably so stretched the baby just plops out )

becklesparkler · 02/11/2007 10:16

Hi everyone! Nice new thread!
3littlebears - scary to have your baby that early! I am still not really prepared at all for it so hope mine doesn't decide to come early! Hope your little boy is doing well and congratulations too
Loucee, am 32 weeks now but my LO still often flips over and is breech, usually late at night. Is the same as you describe, a lump sticking out of the top of the bump. MWs here are not concerned about baby position at this stage - she only checked the other day because I asked her!
Pecka, we are very nearly date buddies, you are due the day before me so the same as Macdoodle! Think we may share a name though! I am still persevering with the prescribed iron tablets at the moment, the tummy seems to be settling down a bit now. Am a bit annoyed though as I looked at my 12 week blood test results and I was only just within the 'normal' range for red blood count then! Also they divide the red blood count into 3 and one of those was already low at that point. No wonder I have felt so tired this pg, I was probably anaemic from around 14 weeks! Can't believe they didn't look at the results and suggest I took some iron a bit earlier!
Fifi, really glad the transfusions are making a difference to you!
Buzzy, good luck for your scan today, hopefully they will get a good view!

becklesparkler · 02/11/2007 10:17

Skiddadle, wouldn't exactly say DS2 'plopped' out! Only grazed with him though, no stitches...

mixedmama · 02/11/2007 11:25

Morning all,

love the new name beckle.

not much to report my end but just popping my head in.

seems like we are doing well and not too much going on.

buzzy - good luck with the scan... think second opinion is def good idea.

BurrrrrrrrrrningNbg · 02/11/2007 11:50

My midwife has just popped round with a book on OFP, bless her.

I asked her about the Clary Sage and its meant to bring on contractions.

Apparently you can either burn it or have it massaged on to you.
I'm going for both at the same time whilst sniffing it too lol

suey2 · 02/11/2007 11:52

yep, have started perineal massage (ouch). Must get round to buying front-opening nightshirt and nursing tops for hospital.
Really knackered today- very frustrating not being able to hoik all the heavy unpacking- but still think i am overdoing it. I almost want to go into labour early so that DH will stop working (7 days a week at the mo) and start helping. Och well, he gets paid by the hour.

suey2 · 02/11/2007 11:54

oh, and whoever has a lump in the middle and worry that he has turned- i get that loads and saw MW yesterday- still head down. I reckon it's his bum

loucee · 02/11/2007 12:34

Oh Suey, you've given me hope then! Poor wee soul if that's his/her bum, they take after me if that's the case!

Amani · 02/11/2007 12:55

Someone just bought their 'brand new' 2 week old baby into work - so cute.... - I want one of those now!!!

Actually am quite surprised that she came in this early - it took me 2 months to get out and about on my own...
