kerioke: hang in there! You're doing amazingly well, and I really do hope your consultant is about not handing your care over properly to someone else while he was away.

DH has been recreating our home network for the 3rd time in a week - and has wiped all the stuff I'd done in the interim. I've told him I'm not doing any more work until he can guarantee I won't have to do it again!

loucee · 03/11/2007 13:57

Claraq - I know everyone has their own views on things like this but personally I managed to enjoy plenty of alcohol around DD's feeds. If you time it right and make sure you're eating a healthy diet with plenty of fluids then no reason why you can't enjoy some adult drinks.

Ambi - no I'm not moving - think it's Lizzer and Suey. I admire them both as well, right now the thought of packing up and moving would do me in!

Ambi · 03/11/2007 14:37

oops soz loucee, yes it's lizzer, d'oh.

claraq · 03/11/2007 15:00

loucee - i agree about having a drink or three while bf; actually more likely to be put off by having to wake up two or more times a night to feed

Amani · 03/11/2007 17:36

Evening ladies
Kerioke - you are so brave coping with everything that's happening and really really hope everything goes how you want it to be. If you do get a moment please let us know how you are getting on hun.

cazzybabs · 03/11/2007 22:25

kerioke - it sounds like hell, but as long as you get a healthy baby it will be all worth it.

Thelady - that is just what dh would do..and he is supopsed to be a computer expert! Mind you he knows a hell of a lot more than me.

Tomorrow I will have less than a calender month (by my dates) - oh my god....no kitchen floor as yet, 1 working kitchen light and dust dust dust and more bloody dust everywhere!

claraq · 04/11/2007 10:42

Mixedmama - saw your message on Telly Addicts about Britz; I agree, thought it was excellent and really thought provoking.

becklesparkler · 04/11/2007 12:13

Kerioke, how are you today? What a tough time you are going through, I hope you get on well tomorrow with the consultants and they agree to let you have Logan. Sounds like he is a good size and doing well. {{{hugs}}} to you.

Wizzska · 04/11/2007 12:23

Kerioke - Hope you're coping, what a trauma! I would be wanting to have the baby asap if I were you too. Hope you can keep your strength up - make sure your consultant looks after you.

Have had a couple of awful nights sleep, and now can feel a cold coming on. Am so busy I don't know if I can cope with a cold and being pg too. 36 weeks now and feel massive. Feel like I've aged 10 years in the last 2 months. Not long to go now. 2 weeks work then ML then baby then Christmas. Can look forward to that.

macdoodle · 04/11/2007 16:59

Kerioke sounds absolutely horrible for you...surely babe is ok to come out now at 34+ weeks espeacially if has steroids on board ...can't imagine it is doing it (or you) much could what with the morphine and stress and pain...poor you...you need to stand up to the consultant whichever one and tell them babe out NOW!!! Good luck to both of you

cazzybabs · 04/11/2007 17:03

Wizzska - I am getting a cold too and ave been in bed all day feeling shit!

Housemum · 04/11/2007 17:41

Kerioke - I have everything crossed for you - it must be awful - hope that you safely deliver Logan soon.

Ambi - we enjoyed the "free" fireworks display at the local community centre - we have a loft conversion and are on a hill so we get a great view over the rooftops!

Mmm - champagne at Christmas - yum! Am I desperate for a drink (preferably without heartburn) or what - I've slipped a half bottle of red wine in my labour bag - actually, that went in there before the sanitary towels or breast pads were even bought!!!

thingamajig · 04/11/2007 18:14

Kerioke, best of luck to you in the morning, and hope that you are feeling better soonest, let us all know, we are thinking of you.

I have changed my name, I was PuppyDogsTails, but there are too many puppies on MN now, and its a bit of a boy name if I'm going to have a girl. What do you all think?

Bouncingturtle · 04/11/2007 18:26

Thingamajig - like the name, though in keeping with your old name and the fact that you are having a girl shouldn't it be Sugarandspice?
Feeling horrid at the moment, tummy ache, feel sick and just generally bleugh... hope I am feeling better tomorrow as I have 3 people to see for 2nd interviews!
Kerioke, good luck for tomorrow!
Housemum - glad to see you have your priorities straight

cazzybabs · 04/11/2007 20:32

OHH have just joinned online DVD rental - so I can enjoy DVDs whilst breatfeeding (no TV!). Am quite excited! Little things pleasing little minds and all that..

mind you we still have 6 episodes of Twin peaks left to watch...zand it all getting a little scary/strange!

Bought nappies and nipple shields yesterday...feel like I ought to be doing something to prepare for the new arrival! Mind you I am not nesting yet so hopefully birth not too immenent. Am praying it doesn't come before the 7th...am crossing my legs and there will be no hanky panky for dh for a while!

buzzybee · 04/11/2007 20:51

Morning all!
Kerioke - don't feel remotely guilty about putting your foot down. Its your body and your baby. Hugs and best wishes for this week.
Well my birthday weekend was relatively calm and uneventful after the dramas of last week. Was just glad to relax and not worry too much.
The scan on Friday went as well as could be expected and gave me some additional comfort that things could yet turn out OK. The sonographer was absolutely lovely and said in her opinion she couldn't see anything really serious that would, for example, necessitate me flying to Auckland to give birth in the unit adjacent to NZ's main heart unit (which had been threatened). Now just have to wait and see what the consultant says this week and also wait for the final results from the amnio.
I also took back some power and put my foot down and said there was no way I was seeing the consultant again who was so negative and unpleasant and I'm pleased to say they've re-booked me with a different one, although means I have to wait until Wed to see him. I feel quite OK about that having had that private scan last Friday.

BTW don't talk to me about fireworks!! It doesn't get dark here now til about 8.30pm and all the neighbours seem to be taking it in turns to have fireworks parties each night just as DD is trying to get to sleep!

insywinsyspider · 04/11/2007 21:29

hello everyone

kerioke - good luck for tomorrow, as everyone said you're not being selfish, Logan sounds like a good weight and I hope your consultant app goes well.

buzzy - same here about fireworks, I had to sit in ds's room for about hour last night as every time a firework went off he'd yelp glad i didn't take him to to any displays, they were all after his bed time so he'd be confused and too tired to cope

hope everyone else is doing ok, 6 wks to go for me and I've started nesting, went up to loft to check on baby stuff in prep for as new sale on sale in case I needed anything and found we have mice they have chewed through car seat and ds's push chair which I was hoping to sell on ebay i'm embarassed to say I just cried, we hadn't budgeted for it, I have no idea how they got in and really could do with out the hassel, everything is in the spare room/baby's room so house feels like an absolute state.... feeling sorry for myself but when I read messages like keriokes I know I need to get a grip i think its the hormones!

off work tomorrow think my MN time is now limited as work is one of the only times I get to surf

macdoodle · 04/11/2007 21:33

Insy mice also ate lots of baby stuff I had in loft ...my house is a tip you can barely open the door to the "baby's room" and the builders are starting next week....also feel totally overwhelmed !

Housemum · 04/11/2007 23:14

Insywinsy - that's awful - we had mice in our garage last year - I went to get a box of next-size-up clothes from DD1 and picked up a gorgeous Monsoon cardi I'd been saving only to find the back of it fall away in my hands. Then I cried when I realised the one and only thing I had of mine as a baby, a flanelette baby nightie, was the shred of white rag in the box, only recognisable by the bit of embroidery that hadn't been chewed.

Is it worth calling the insurance company? I don't know if accidental damage cover includes pest damage? No harm in asking - you may get a new pushchair & car seat. (And if you have already got your new ones, then sell the one the insurance company gets you as BNIB, an "unwanted gift"!)

Bouncingturtle · 05/11/2007 07:02

Well I had a great night . Started vomiting copiously, couldn't keep even water down. Suspect I have food poisoning, as DH has also stsrted throwing up. Feel very wretched this morning, trying to eat a yoghurt just to put something in my stomach!
Don't know what to do as really need to go in this morning for these interviews. Am going to go in later before they start.

Amani · 05/11/2007 08:09

Morning all!

Happy belated birthday buzzy. Good to hear you don't have to fly over to give birth and for being assertive!
Kerioke - all the best for tomorrow.
insy - oh dear about the mice. Try looking on eBay for buggies on a budget.

I'm just holding onto the fact that I'm due next month (even though it's at the end of it) and then I'll have a baby in my arms....

skidaddle · 05/11/2007 08:29

kerioke - best of luck today and hope little Logan's birthday is 5th November - what a cool bday! As everyone else said you are not being remotely selfish - you have been through hell and as you say he is a good weight and will be fine. Please let us know how you get on and will be thinking of you.

bouncing - oh gosh you poor thing - you mustn't go in if you feel awful. Can you postpone the interviews?

I have also been feeling bad - cold, cough, feeling really sick, off my food... just rubbish. As claraq and others say i can't WAIT for Christmas when I can have a glass of wine and feel my normal self but with a bit of sleep deprivation and sore bits thrown in!

Insy - my dd has been like your ds with the fireworks - lots of whimpering and not impressed at all. Hope your dd is more enthusiastic claraq

buzzy - glad the appt went well and it looks like it's good news.

Had to laugh at your description of your DH beckle - that is exactly what my DH is like - not usually a boob man but has been completely transfixed by mine this pg - I keep telling him to make the most of it as they'll be sad little empty sacks for the rest of my life!!

Amani · 05/11/2007 08:32

Skid - forgot to mention my DD was frightened of fireworks, took me ages to settle her to bed as she kept opening her eyes at ever little noise.

claraq · 05/11/2007 09:08

Morning everyone - another one not feeling so great this morning, can feel a cold coming on, must be the time of year.
Skidd - unfortunately dd lasted about 3 minutes with the fireworks before she burst into tears and demanded to be taken home. I let dh take her and had a nice time chatting with the neighbours and drinking mulled wine . Only half a glass - but it made me feel a bit wierd to be honest!

Kerioke - hope everything goes well for you today - look forward to hearing good news about the birth!

Buzzy - glad things seem a little more optimistic for you and good for you for standing up to the consultant. I wish more people would do this - so many of them have God complexes and we tremble before them and do whatever they want. I felt good telling the registrar who saw me last week that I didn't want to be induced and that was that, whatever he said. Luckily for me the midwife who was in the room was nodding away, giving me encouragement - and she is the one I really trust!

skidaddle · 05/11/2007 09:15

Aww your poor dds claraq and amani and glad you stayed and had fun anyway claraq!

completely agree with doctors having God complexes - I remember a girl I knew at uni who was only one year out of her medical training, saying to someone in a discussion, 'I'm sorry but you don't have people's lives in your hands every working day' she was about 23 at the time - God knows what she says nowadays as she is nearly a consultant..
