ChinaSurprise · 28/11/2007 11:37

Deb are you there? What did you do at the spa you went to a few weeks ago? It seems almost everything is out of bounds...

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 28/11/2007 12:38

I had mt scan and baby was sleeping in an wakward position so I barely saw it. Cervix length is very good so that's a real positive. The dr told me again that DP should be treated for thrush to avoid reinfection as mine isn't clearing up I told him again that it really wasn't a problem as dp isn't allowed near me and he seemed very concerned for dp and asked how he was coping! I told him I didn't care as I was suffering too! I came out of him room laughing but really didn't want to explain why to my mum.. I have to go back in two weeks.

josey · 28/11/2007 12:44

Sorry dont want to upset you or anything China just want you to be careful only saying as I care and would hate anything to happen. I know the overheating thing you can monitor but the baby can overheat before you would get symptoms and like my namesake said infection is a risk, do they do pregnancy massages, I had one with DD and it was amazing I actually went in a trace and met my baby I new it was a girl from then and I got her name.( I sound a bit mad saying that but it was so unreal)

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 28/11/2007 12:46

I've also heard that jacuzzi's are out of bounds in pregnancy. You can still have a lovely day re;axing in the pool.

debinaustria · 28/11/2007 12:51

HI everyone

Well I've had my scan and all seemed well, measuring 13 weeks, but no photo today - Baby wasn't co-operative though, he wanted to do the Nuchal fold measurement , sent me off for 15 minutes, prodded me about again but still couldn't get it. So I'm going back again on Friday. Is nuchal fold automatically done in the UK now? So I've come back feeling disappointed about having to go back and no photo, instead of being so happy that everything is still OK with baby. Can I blame it on the hormones? I had a bag of crisps, a Mcdonalds milkshake and fruit pie on the way home, got home, was sick( no surprise there)and I've just been asleep on the settee.

Hope your scans go well today

China - I swam a lot at the spa, snored on a water bed and ate good food.I could have gone in to one of the cooler saunas but it's mixed naked here which is usually OK but I didn't fancy it.

Don't worry guys. I'm just so utterly sick of this job and so looking forward to the spa this evening - I had it in my head that it would be ok as long as I was careful. But I didn't know the baby could overheat before you. Ah well. Better safe than sorry.
I can't have a massage today as the waiting list is enormo but I'll book one for after Xmas, and it will be nice to sit in the pool and look at the stars. I've got five days off after today so I'm not exactly hard done by!
Oh, and josey, I know what you mean re going into a trance during massage - and it makes sense that you'd be able to make a really deep connection with the child inside you if you were in the right frame of mind. My dad's a shiatsu massage practitioner so I am pretty open minded about stuff like that (am sooo getting a massage off him at Xmas!).
Anyway, enough - life could be a LOT worse!
G43 - I'm very glad to hear your scan went well and looking forward to hearing the rest of the other scan results later today.
Pip pip!
Chinax

ChinaSurprise · 28/11/2007 13:04

Deb - thanks for the info. I'm going to drop by the spa at lunchtime and sound them out.
Sorry to hear your scan wasn't everything you hoped for, but hopefully Friday will yield better results for you.
Boo about the sicking up too - when does your MS normally wear off?

GardenAngel4 · 28/11/2007 13:35

Hello Ladies,

debs glad your scan was okay...I have two weeks TWO WEEKS!!! to wait. sophiewd when is yours (mine's 14th).

Am starting to feel quite down now about not feeling pregnant AT ALL. I can even fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans which I tried on randomly last night...I keep looking at myself sideways and seeing if I have a tummy or not

DH keeps telling me there is 'nothing we can do about it till the scan' - not helping.

Would I bleed if it hadn't survived? Sorry to be down...

xx

GardenAngel4 · 28/11/2007 13:37

debs I have to pay £200 if I want nuchal fold. Hope you feel better.

katyjo · 28/11/2007 13:57

Hi everyone,

Sorry your scans weren't as good as you had hoped, at least you get to go again on friday debs!

China I'm sure the spa will be great even if you just soak in the atmosphere and relax. I have to say I didn't know about the risk of infection, but I did go in hot tubs while pregnant with ds just no longer than 10 mins.
The massage sounds a much better idea though, I had a few facials while pregnant as well which were fantastic! Enjoy yourself!

Everything going well with me, sickness seems to have passed, but I have a bit of a cold and not sleeping very well so knackered, but there always seems so much to do I never seem to get to bed early, have to try again tonight.

xxx

ktpie · 28/11/2007 14:17

GardenAngel I feel the same as you at the moment, keep checking my tummy to see if it has got bigger (it has but as my DH points out that is just fat from all the biscuits!) Until about two weeks ago I was feeling queasy all the time and although I'm glad this has passed at least it made me feel pregnant, now my only real symptom is feeling really tired.
I haven't got a scan date yet, 2 to 3 weeks I've been told, can't come fast enough, just so that I know either way!

makecakesnotwar · 28/11/2007 14:20

Debs- I got nuchal tests as standard- I was sent to Kings (live in Bromley) where they are doing some big research thing....think I just lucked out on the postcade lottery.

Rolf I think you will find I am considerably larger than you...recently moved up to size 16, so will have to work jolly hard post-pip to get down again. My dad's wife today informed me that after you have a baby you stop giving a shit about your size, so that's my back-up plan. Have been in maternity gear since week 10, when I couldn't do anything up...bought it all on Ebay.

China hope you enjoy spa. Last time I went to one, just before I got pregnant, I was asked if I was pregnant as there were facilities I couldn't use....to be quite frank though, just sitting in a spa atmosphere would do me...all calming and stuff.

ALL- hope things are OK. Today is my birthday and I have chronic headache and chronic backache...bloody typical. Woke last night convinced things were going wrong as back was so bad...they aren't arethey??? Any helpful hints and tips from you professional mums????

debinaustria · 28/11/2007 14:32

makecakes HAPPY BIRTHDAY
What were the results of your test if you don't mind me asking?
Did you strain yourself yesterday doing anything to cause your backache?

emotionalwreck · 28/11/2007 14:35

Hi Guys,

not been around for eons it seems, but had my 12 week scan on saturday and I'm still bang on for my due date of 5th June. And there's just the one little tike growing in there (phew).

Only downer is I've got glucose and ketones in my wee - had gestational diabetes with last pregnancy so know what to expect, but didn't have it this early last time, and was looking forward to some scrummy christmas pud! Due to have a glucose tolerance test on Tuesday.... watch this space.

Good luck for all thopse of you yet to have your scans!

makecakesnotwar · 28/11/2007 14:46

Fingers crossed emotional Glad the scan went OK.

Debs- combination of scan and blood test reults put my risk at 1 in 11418....didn't do anything energetic yesterday... have had backache on and off but now getting stronger. Suppose it might just be the payback for getting away with relatively little ms!!

sophiewd · 28/11/2007 14:54

GA4 - mines on 13th, not nice being the last girls in June and having to wait.

Still shocked about Nuchal Fold scan, matter of course at in our area.

Upsidedowncake · 28/11/2007 15:20

I'll be with you on Thursday 13, Sophie. It seems a long way away but it'll go really quickly.

Babybond do private scans for £150.

aberdeenhiker · 28/11/2007 15:29

Debs & going4three, glad the scans went well - even if you didn't get the views you wanted!

makecakesnotwar - I had backpain with my last pregnancy and it's already starting again (although it's never too bad, more of an annoyance than a huge problem) so I would say it's normal (is that a or a ? I'm not sure). I've also had lots of cramps lately and I think it's from my uterus moving up in my belly.

Josie57 · 28/11/2007 15:39

Hi Aberdeen, I've also had some cramps lately. Not too painful and quite short lived but still scared me, especially after the bleed I had a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know that it might be my uterus moving - that makes me feel so much better .

Does anyone have a scan next week? I'm having my scan on Wednesday and they do the nuchal fold here in Kent for free which is good news - especially as my midwife informed me that I only have a 1:348 chance of downs - that sounded like pretty scary odds to me so will look forward to the nuchal scan and blood tests.

aberdeenhiker · 28/11/2007 15:44

I had much worse cramps in my first pregnancy - a couple times I was doubled up in pain - and it was all fine so I'm much more relaxed this time around (and I had bleeding the first time too).

I ended up with my scan three weeks ago (at 10 weeks) which I thought would be great (yeah! earlier scan!) but now I'm starting to get worried again. Can't wait to hear the heartbeat on the doppler!

makecakesnotwar · 28/11/2007 16:14

Aberdeen- pleased to hear that backache normal- I'm also getting the cramps that you mentioned....could it be the upward movement of baby? I am nearly 14 weeks....thank God some people here have been through this before. Despite having looked after babies and children for years, pregnancy is entirely new to me and I haven't the first clue what I am doing!

Josie- where in Kent are you....am in Bromley, which I suppose is barely classed as Kent.

PiggyPenguin · 28/11/2007 16:15

Hello everyone, had my scan and everything seems to be fine. Such a relief to actually see that tiny body with its heart busy beating, and also to be reassured that there is only one passenger in there!

Only a dating scan so fairly quick but previously only had twenty week scan so this was a lovely extra. Also the sonographer was a trainee so took 5 photos by mistake which was a stroke of luck!

Now have the nuchal fold on friday but we have had to pay privately for that (150 quid). i feel that I will be able to relax and enjoy it now though as at least I now know the bean is there and ok.

debinaustria · 28/11/2007 16:29

sybil - glad your scan went well, so that's 2 of us having the nuchal on friday

Josie57 · 28/11/2007 16:33

Makescakes - I'm in East Kent down in Deal so we are part of the East Coast Primary Healthcare Trust.

This is my second pregnancy and whilst some things are the same others are different.

Take home message - there is always something to worry about!

Rolf · 28/11/2007 17:06

ktpie and GardenAngel - I'm feeling the same way. I have such a bad cold and am so exhausted that I suspect that is masking any pregnancy symptoms.

I've got my scan date - 18 December. It's ages away isn't it? There is no clinical reason to try to bring it forward, I'm just getting all worked up about it. I'm seeing hte consultant to I guess that holds things up a bit too.

In answer to your question, Gardenangel - yes, it is possible that the pregnancy is over but without any symptoms BUT the odds at this stage are very much in our favour. And also at this stage our hormones are going through more changes so it's quite normal that we feel differently.

Sorry you are both worried but at the same time it's a comfort to know that I'm not alone.
