I am so tickled to start this thread! I have just found out today that I am pregnant with no. 2 after 8mths of trying. My DH doesn't want me to tell anyone yet but you guys are alright I reckon!

DS is 21mths. I am in Sydney and while v excited having a baby in Australia will be a new experience for me as I had the last one in Germany. This time I am over 35, so there are all the questions about tests etc. Also DS was 5 weeks early, but was trying to get out from about 25 weeks, so I spent three weeks in hospital and the rest of the pregnancy on medication. I hope I can avoid any complications during pregnancy this time.

So who else is out there expecting a July baby?

I NEVER seem to be able to find this thread the normal way, I always have so do a cunning search.

Sorry to hear your news AussieSim but glad you're coping.

We (or I rather) went for a scan on Monday. Bub is completely fine, with a spiffy heartbeat and everything. It even looks a bit like a baby!

I THINK my due date is now 1 July, but I can't work the babycentre calculator properly as I am computer and maths illeterate.

Re the early scans and heart problems-ds was scanned quite a bit (they're quite trigger happy with scans round here, although they will not give you photos). Anyway, he was born with a heart murmer. It didn't go away for ages. Makes me think.

However it was completely "innocent" and my mum mentioned after he was born "oh yes, you have that, and your brother, and your father has one too"-you'd have thought someone would have told me...

Ah I'm sure its fine.

Doctor won't refer me to midwives til appt after scan and due to appt shortage thats not til 11 weeks. I was thinking about the nuchal fold, so not sure what to do here.

Welcome all new people.

Maybe someone more organised than me should do an honour roll of our due dates....hopeful

OzJo · 28/11/2004 00:45

MerglMergle, ring the midwives and explain, you don't want to end up not able to have the nuchal fold because they can't fit you in. It's worth nagging them about.
I'm stressed out this week, turns out the vague viral thing Dd has had is slapped cheek syndrome, she was covered in a rash the other morning, so whisked her off to the Drs, who said this was what it was...and it's a bit dodgy with pregnant women. Apparently most adults have immunity to it as it's such a common childhood thing ( that they only really started to diagnose 10 years ago) but if I don't have immunity there's a small chance the baby could get it via the placenta, then an even smaller chance of it causing miscarriage,or some hideous thing called fetal hydrops, which kills the baby anyway...Oh joy...I know the statistics are really slim that there'll be anything wrong, but I didn't sleep well last night. Had a blood test today to check if I've got immunity to it, should know by next weds or thurs. Fingers crossed

AussieSim · 28/11/2004 07:49

Thinking of you OzJo. I went to enrol my DS in a new day care centre last week and they had a notice on the door about slapped cheek, but I didn't think about it too much as I was just popping into the office to drop of our form - sounds like I probably should have been more cautious.

Bagpuss30 · 29/11/2004 10:58

Oh, Piffle, I am so very sorry to hear your news. Wishing you all the best xx.

BabyDot · 29/11/2004 10:59

Piffle,

so sad to hear your news! would you mind me asking how you knew?

It is just I have been having a really bad pain on the right hand side and doc says nothing to worry about, but I don't think you can say that to an expecting mother.

If it is too painfull to talk about I completely understand and send you lots of love for a speedy recover. Take care x

Bagpuss30 · 29/11/2004 11:12

BabyDot, just in case Piff isn't about, you can go to you local EPU at the hospital and have a scan or blood test done if you are worried. My GP sent me there a few weeks ago as I had bleeding which is one of the signs. I had a blood test to check HGC levels and the doctor said that given how high they were I would have had to be in a lot of pain if it was ectopic (which i wasn't) and so he was satisfied that I was OK and told me to come back as usual for my 12 week scan. HTH and good luck.

Sallie · 29/11/2004 13:57

Piffle - so sorry to hear your sad news . Good to hear you are now at home - take good care of yourself and allow yourself plenty of time to get over what you have just been through.

BabyDot · 29/11/2004 14:13

bagpuss30,

Thanks for the reply I have a scan booked on Wednesday to determine how far gone I am. So by the scan they would be able to see if it was ectopic?

Thanks so much for your advice, are you getting any pain down below? The only way to describe it is period pains really.

I know I worry too much!

Piffleoffagus · 29/11/2004 15:05

tanks girls...
fyi the pain was over the ovary, intense, passout, screaming agony pain.
also some spotting the day before
I was 5w 3days,ectopics that lodge in the tube are usually known by 6 wks hth and yes pulling pains down below were both feature of two prev pregs..
good luck and I am doing ok

piff xxx

MommyD · 29/11/2004 15:25

Aussiesim you are like amazing Geordie on the ttc board - how do you keep up with all the details?!
Anyway is great to see it all written out like that !
I am 8 weeks this weekend coming and have a scan on Friday as have had some bleeding and pain . Saw a wee heartbeat on scan last Friday - was amazing !
Still seem to be in shock with all this though - it's taking so long to sink in as it happened so fast!!
Hoping you are all well

Hello everyone.

I've been over on the June thread for the last few weeks but I had an early scan yesterday and found out I'm due on the 6th July.

I originally thought I'd be due on 30th June so I've been one of the last people on that thread - am looking forward to being one of the first on this thread!!!

Morning sickness seems to have passed for me thank god!!!

I've alread got a dd who is 4 years old.

dinosaur · 30/11/2004 10:57

Piffle, I hope nobody minds me gatecrashing this thread but I just wanted to say how sorry I am to see this sad news.

All the best,

Dinosaur

lovinit · 30/11/2004 11:52

Dear All ... Congrats to all on the thread and huge hugs to Aussiesim, Piffie and Hester. I have been following the thread for a while but did have been dying to join but wanted to make sure that all was OK first .....

IT IS ! Had a scan, saw the heartbeat, and I am due on 20th JULY !

Was very nervous at first as I had been bleeding and my older sister recently had a 12 wk scan and found that the embryo sac was empty.

We are hugely lucky as we have a beautiful 14 month DD and this one is almost our "honeymoon baby"!

JanH · 30/11/2004 13:11
