I am so tickled to start this thread! I have just found out today that I am pregnant with no. 2 after 8mths of trying. My DH doesn't want me to tell anyone yet but you guys are alright I reckon!

DS is 21mths. I am in Sydney and while v excited having a baby in Australia will be a new experience for me as I had the last one in Germany. This time I am over 35, so there are all the questions about tests etc. Also DS was 5 weeks early, but was trying to get out from about 25 weeks, so I spent three weeks in hospital and the rest of the pregnancy on medication. I hope I can avoid any complications during pregnancy this time.

So who else is out there expecting a July baby?

Fingers crossed AussieSim, congratulations hester, hello everyone else. I find it hard to keep track of everyone, so shan't even try. I'm crap at names at the best of times, now I have no brain at all and am becoming a positive hazzard. Keep losing things that are right in front of my face, am being so vacant at work I'm sure someone will work it out. Anyone else lost their brain?

Cosybear · 12/11/2004 18:45

Hello !
This is quiet today !
How is everyone doing ?
I was at doctor today for the first time and he's sending away a urine test on Monday - even though i've done 6 tests now altogether!!!
How's everyone feeling ?
I've had cramping which has eased off today - will be 5 weeks tomorrow - why do they count the weeks from the first day of your last period ? Should it not be 2 weeks less than that ?
I'm feeling bloated but not much other symptoms apart from the boob soreness - enjoying my food though - savoury thing s more than sweet which is not usual for me !!

Take care
xxx

hoxtonchick · 12/11/2004 19:20

i feel identical to you cosybear ! a bit bloated, sore boobs & starving hungry all the time. pretty tired too. dp says i'm being nightmare girl, he hasn't seen anything yet.... i had a couple of days of cramps earlier this week, but nothing today. roll on the next 34 weeks....

hester, we don't live in hoxton anymore, but just up the road in london fields. maybe we could have a mini meet up sometime?

I think my due date's 10 July, GP said 30 June (she wasn't listening to me when I explained about my 38 day cycles). I guess my 1st scan will reveal the truth.

how are you feeling aussiesim?

hester · 13/11/2004 09:39

Morning all. Having felt elated but unreal for the last few days, this morning feel a little low and anxious. probably down to very little sleep over the last few nights - keep waking up at 4am in a state of high excitement and not going back to sleep. This has got to stop!

Other than that, main problem is complete inability to focus on work, with some huge deadlines looming. How do you think, "Hi boss, sorry I haven't done anything for the last week, I'm too busy daydreaming about the pip in my tummy" would go down?

Plus unremitting nausea and dizziness. At the moment it's brilliant to have symptoms - such a novelty! I'm sure that will wear off pretty quick.

Hoxtonchick - would love to meet up. Am currently working between Aldgate and Whitechapel. Are you CAT-able?

When does everyone else plan to tell people in RL? I'm thinking of telling over the next week those half dozen people who really supported me through ttc, or whom I would want to support me through a mc (please, god, no). Then my close family around 6-8 weeks. And everyone else, including work, after Christmas at around 12 weeks. Does that sound sensible? Mind you, at the moment I keep having to stop myself telling taxi drivers, the newsagent, canteen staff... fear there may be a lot of premature blurting going on.

AussieSim · 13/11/2004 09:43

I'm feeling a little more patient about making it to my next appt to hear how my twins are doing. I am still nauseous and with all the action in the bathroom I have lost 1.5kg in the last week. I saw a GP today and we will do some tests as she doesn't think it is related to my pregnancy. She says the weight loss and illness shouldn't affect my babies.

I really hate not being able to eat anything more tasty than a dry biscuit, food is usually one of lifes small pleasures. I am trying to carry on life as normal but it is hard to focus. My DH is being wonderful and my DS is as cute as ever. Thanks for asking

PS: I like the due date calculator at babyzone.com which takes into account the normal length of your cycle.

glad you are feeling more positive aussiesim, i hope you feel physically better soon too.

hester, that would be lovely, i am defintely cat-able!

i got my first appointment through today - ds & i will be at the antenatal clinic next wednesday (good timing, not one of the days i work). the leaflet said i'd get a scan, but i don't believe them as i'll only be 6.5 weeks. everything changes when you have diabetes... last time i had about 20 scans.

i'm finding myself getting pretty stressed at the moment. so happy to be pregnant, but the whole blood sugar thing is quite intensive, there isn't a whole lot of time for sitting daydreaming. and already i'm worrying that i was a lot more careful when i was pregnant with ds. arrrrrrggggh. dp is being sweet, but also saying i've lost 50 points off my iq. the cheek!

sorry to waffle on to you all

OzJo · 14/11/2004 03:00

Due date July 2nd, though I checked ny due date on the babyzone.com calander...I could be due June 30th !!! My cycle was about 26 days...so I could be gatecrashing the thread. I am also confused as to why they date you from first day last period, surely it would be roughly 2 weeks later? First scan should date things more accurately. Looking forward to that.
I haven't told anyone much, bar a couple of distant mates that were birthing buddies last time round. Main exception being my Mum, She's having treatment for breast cancer so it's really given her a lift. We'll tell everyone else around Christmas as that'll be about 12 weeks. It's tricky getting round the not drinking thing...only so many courses of antibiotics a girl can take !

hester · 15/11/2004 07:43

I'm sorry to have to put this horrible post on this lovely thread, but I didn't want to just leave without telling you why. I am miscarrying.

No bleeding yet, but my HCG levels are falling fast so it is only a matter of time. Words can't describe how I feel: at 40, and stil trying for my first, it feels a very cruel blow. And yet, even though I haven't stopped crying since Saturday night, I'm still glad I got pg, even for that short time. Those five days were magical!

I do wish you all so much luck with your pregnancies. Much love and hugs.

hoxtonchick · 15/11/2004 08:09

hester, i posted on your other thread, but just to say again, i'm thinking of you & am so sorry. xxxxxxxxx

Cosybear · 15/11/2004 15:33

Hester - so sad to read your news , hope you can stay strong, thinking of you .

fells · 15/11/2004 17:16

I have just done pregnancy test and it is positive. My last period was on 11th October so I assume I am only just pregnant. Is it the case that even the faintest line on these kits can mean it is positive? The line was very obviously there but lighter than the control line. I suppose I just can't believe it. I have been convinced that my period would be coming at any minute as I have had slight lower abdominal pain for the last few days not unlike before a period. What's worrying me is that I have just been on a hen weekend and drunk and smoked (I'm one of those sad occasional smokers!) like a trooper I was so convinced my period was about to begin. What damage could I have done? I am healthy in every other aspect and obviously not a drop of alcohol or a cigarette will pass my lips from this moment on. I don't really feel any different yet, although when I come to think about it I have had a strange watery feeling in my mouth like when you're about to be sick - is this normal? When will the sore boobs and nausea kick in? I think I'm just convinced it'll all go wrong as it's taken nearly a year to get to this point.

CharBell · 15/11/2004 18:46

Fells - don't worry. It all sounds completely normal. I wouldn't worry about the fags and the booze. Just don't do it again! As for the nausea and boobs, can start any time but you really don't want it soon! My Clear Blue pregnancy test was very feint but has proved to be correct. Good luck.

merryberry · 15/11/2004 21:04

Hester, also thinking of you and wishing you a full recovery, with love, xx

AussieSim · 15/11/2004 21:52

Dear Hester, I am so sorry to hear your news and so glad that you are looking on the bright side that it is possible to fall pregnant. Are you seeing a fertility specialist? Given this experience they might have some ideas about how to help it from happening next time. A friend of mine was helped by being referred to an endicrinologist to hold on to her pregnancy. Good Luck.

Dear Fells, every pregnancy is different - I wasn't sick at all with DS but had sore boobs and it is the other way around with this one. Welcome aboard!

One week to go till my next scan. I have named my twins dib and dob and talk to them every day telling them how much I would like to meet them both - it is all I can do.

Just to report baby Anteater due 17th July. Sorry about your news hester, sad time. We lost one last year, which is how I came accross Mumsnet..

Kiml71 · 15/11/2004 23:20

Hi all! Can I join you? I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby after months of trying. I fell straight away with my first so I was sarting to get a little worried. Got an aching tummy at the moment and sore boobs but nothing else. My due date is 23rd July 2005

AussieSim · 17/11/2004 07:23

Hi Kim and Anteater. Welcome aboard and congratulations. I guess our club will be complet in about a week or so.

I am still feeling quite crook, only 6 sleeps till I find out about my twins. I am actually starting to feel quite positive about them making it, as I couldn't be experiencing such strong symptoms so early for just one little bean. A friend leant me a twins book today and it had a story about a woman who was told in a very early scan that she had one unviable embryo and one healthy one, only to find out at a later scan that both were thriving. I hope that will be my story too.

Oh lord, sometimes strange things sink in. I am planning to tell my mum and best friend this weekend, and am hunting for the words - i thought about this morning but nothing's come to mind. everyone is going to have such an opinion with me being 36 and holding such a tough job and putting my doctorate on hold. sigh give me strength.

anyway, off out to buy flowers, for the hell of it.

hanlie · 17/11/2004 16:07

Hey all,
What a gift to stumble onto this website! I am 6 weeks pregnant with my first and due mid July 2005. Arrived in England only 6 months ago and all family + friends back home in South Africa. Very excited but at times overwhelmed and scared to death. Miss my support system..... but now that I have found this, I will be a regular visitor. Congrats to all the Mums-to-be!

hoxtonchick · 17/11/2004 17:07

Just back from my booking in appointment. Had a scan (internal. yuck, but not as bad as I thought it might be) & saw a heartbeat . I really am pregnant! Had got my dates exactly right, they measured me as 6+3, due date 10th July. I saw so many people - midwife, obstetrician, scanner (she was lovely), diabetes nurse, diabetologist. We were there for 3.5 hours. ds was an absolute star. I am v. v. v. happy but totally overwhelmed - burst into tears on the midwife. dp didn't come with me as we weren't sure what was going to happen but we're waiting for him to get home soon so we can all just chill out. Oh yes, & I had to have 10 tubes of blood taken which took 3 attempts. Owwwww. Nuchal scan booked for 13 weeks.

Hello to all the new people on this thread.

kid · 17/11/2004 19:30

owww, poor you! Did they leave any blood behind for you?! Good little DS for being a star (it doesn't suprise me though!) was he wearing dry clothes!!! So you did have a scan then!

OzJo · 19/11/2004 02:12

Congtulations all newly discovered pregnant people, this website is an excellent support. I love the no bullshit approach with advice and comments. Anyone suffering a supersensitive nose? I work on a psych ward, and we had to get a woman into the shower that the ambulance drivers had classified a biohazard she smelt so bad...that was tough, plus I'm picking up smells no one else seems to notice...Also very hungry and tired. Better go, the small child is stiring...
