Hi everyone.

Dare I start an October thread!?!

Anyone got a positive result for October? It’s early I know.

Got mine this morning on a FRER at 8 DPO. The line was surprisingly strong. Just feels to good to be true. 🥰 period isn’t due until Monday 25th. So very early days.

If all goes well I am due 03/10/21.

This is my first pregnancy.
Look forward to everyone sharing their journey/stories.

I rang my GP in the end today. No appointments until March WTF.

She is going to call me back tomorrow.

@LJZRBB that's crazy!

Think I am going to wait to book in as supposed to be moving house in a few weeks so no point booking in with current GP and then having to change I guess.

How's everyone doing? I'm over analysing every symptom/lack of symptom. Hate this stage of pregnancy, so anxiety inducing!

Is anyone thinking of going for an early reassurance scan? I was thinking of booking one for 8 weeks maybe

littlelionroars · 26/01/2021 09:46

@LJZRBB I can't believe they can't book you in until March? What about your 12 week scan then, surely you have to have your appointment first.

I just called my GP and they said to wait until I was 6 weeks along and then call back. Then the midwife will call me to arrange an appointment when I am between 8 & 10 weeks.

@heidihii I have booked an early reassurance scan for when I am 7 weeks. I had one when I was expecting my DS and it really put my mind at ease. 12 weeks is a long time to wait for a first scan!

LJZRBB · 26/01/2021 12:30

@littlelionroars @heidihii okay now I have a booking in 17th feb in the next village as it was my surgery which couldn’t do until March.

Yes I think I will book a scan. I was going to do it the other day for 8 weeks and they asked for my midwife info which I don’t have!? Arghh 😩

@heidihii yes if your moving far I guess what would be a waste of time.

Hi friends, I hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I got my BFP yesterday at 11 DPO. Expected due date is 6 Oct 21. I'm feeling ok - vomited last night, slightly swollen and sore boobs, postnasal drip... I am feeling quite anxious about this pregnancy because I had a MC at 5 weeks in September 2021. I've been trying to manifest only positive thoughts. I am an Aussie and moved to the UK about 1.5 years ago. I was a bit upset when I called the GP surgery this morning; the receptionist was quite rude, asking why I wanted to book an appointment with a GP if I am pregnant. I explained I'm new here and I don't know the procedure, so she told me to send a referral to the early pregnancy unit. I did so, and they've said they will write to me with an appointment within 14 days. I feel a bit anxious because I bled (like a period) with my first pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage, and got my BFP after... when I went to the early pregnancy unit, they were unable to locate a pregnancy at all ... I really hope this one is ok. Sending you all lots of love and baby dust xo

littlelionroars · 26/01/2021 19:28

@LJZRBB Glad you got it sorted! I'm sure they will still scan you without the midwife info, a lot of people go for early scans before booking appointments. You could always give your GPS details?

@Jpan Hi! Congratulations - I'm so sorry to hear about your previous miscarriage. Fingers crossed this pregnancy goes smoothly for you. I am from South Africa originally (but have been here for 13 years), so I know the challenges of adapting to life in a new country. X

LJZRBB · 26/01/2021 19:49

@littlelionroars scan booked for 7+3 😀 3 weeks on Friday. I can just about manage the wait I think.

@Jpan welcome! Gosh being sick already? I hope that kicks in for me soon. I have eaten so much chocolate over the last 5 days! It is very confusing the process. I was sure I had to self refer via my hospitals website but I rang my GPS just in case and she gave me a booking in for 17/02.

OP posts:
Jpan · 26/01/2021 19:57

@littlelionroars - Thank you so much! Fingers crossed it does. How is yours going? I saw that you've booked something called a reassurance scan. Is it possible to book something in privately? The e-mail from the hospital said that the first consultation with the midwife (the date of which is yet to be confirmed) will not include an ultrasound. I really feel like I would need some reassurance with an ultrasound.

@LJZRBB - Yes! First pregnancy, had no symptoms. But last night, only time I vomited whilst trying to clear my throat of this wretched post nasal drip or whatever on earth it is. But I am otherwise feeling fine - no nausea or anything. Have you had any symptoms? Good luck for the 17th! :)

LJZRBB · 26/01/2021 20:34

@Jpan none at all. In fact my lack of usual pms symptoms made me think I should test. My boobs hurt a tiny bit, nothing like usual. Oh and my husband was getting on my nerves today that might not be pregnancy related however 😂

OP posts:
littlelionroars · 26/01/2021 20:41

@Jpan So far so good! I've not had many symptoms other than sore boobs, being a bit bloated and a few cramps every now and again.

Yes, the reassurance scan I've booked is private. There are loads of options of private scan companies you can go to. If you google "reassurance scan near me" it should come up with some options in your area.

The NHS actually only does 2 ultrasounds during your entire pregnancy at 12 and 20 weeks. (Unless there are complications in which case they will scan as often as necessary.) Because of this some of woman choose to have private scans before, in between and after the standard NHS ones.

In my first pregnancy I did a early one at 7 weeks and a 4D one at about 30 weeks.

It's a very personal choice though and it can get quite expensive if you go for a lot of them.

Jpan · 26/01/2021 21:11

@LJZRBB - I've heard those with minimal symptoms are lucky (as reassuring as symptoms can be!). Smile

@littlelionroars - Thank you so much. Your explanation was so helpful. I will probably do what you did and will look up the reassurance scan. Many thanks Smile

Moonstone12 · 27/01/2021 07:36

Hi guys. Tentatively waving hello. Got my BFP this morning. Very early days as period not due for 6 more days! God I love a FRER test 🤣

This will Be baby number 5 for me. My youngest is almost 9 months. Eeeek!

LJZRBB · 27/01/2021 09:10

@Moonstone12 wow!!! That’s a handful. Tentative congratulations! I felt like that got my BPF Friday. Period was due Monday. It’s now Wednesday with no sign 🤞 x

OP posts:
littlelionroars · 27/01/2021 10:29

@Moonstone12 Congrats! Baby No.5, wow. Here I am worrying how I am going to handle 2. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

@LJZRBB My period was due on Sunday and I haven't had any sign of it either. I've been testing every other day and the line is getting progressively darker. So that's reassuring me for the moment. Lol.

LJZRBB · 28/01/2021 12:24

Opinions please!? 😩 I got this test this morning. Lovely and dark I was happy with it. However I have literally just started spotting.

My period is only 3 days late. So not really out of the chemical pregnant risk zone yet

😭

Busybee93 · 28/01/2021 13:30

@LJZRBB that looks like a strong line. If it was chemical I wouldn't expect it to be as dark? Can you call EPU?

Also, can I please be added to the FB group Smiletentatively excited - 5 weeks after an early miscarriage in October. Anxious isn't even the word.

LJZRBB · 28/01/2021 13:35

@Busybee93 welcome ! We don’t have a Facebook group over here, there is one on the other October 2021 in the pregnancy board I think.

Yes your right. I need to chill out.

OP posts:
LJZRBB · 28/01/2021 13:37

I would need a GP referral for the EPU. I don’t want to bother them just yet.

OP posts:
LauEli · 28/01/2021 13:45

@Busybee93 there is another thread called October 2021 babies, we have a Facebook group too if you can find that thread 😊

Busybee93 · 28/01/2021 13:55

Thank you @LauEli

@LJZRBB yes, best way is to call your GP - that's where it works where I am. They'll usually refer you. Out of hours I've had to call 111 who then referred me straight to the hospital to rule out anything sinister (with my last pregnancy) but that only tends to happen if there is blood and pain. I'm sure it's all fine x

LJZRBB · 29/01/2021 12:30

@Busybee93 thank you. I’m not worried today. Had a decent line on a IC and I think I feel a bit sick. Or I’ve eaten too much?

OP posts:
Jpan · 29/01/2021 14:01

@LJZRBB Glad to hear you're feeling better SmileSmileSmile... Gosh, first time being pregnant and the days are dragging! This will be LONG!

LJZRBB · 29/01/2021 14:09

@Jpan does seem like forever ago I got my positive. It was only last Friday ha.

3 weeks today until my early scan. I was tempted to bring it forward a week. But I would be so disappointed if there isn’t a lot to see? In case I have got my dates wrong? Would end up worrying me more.

OP posts:
Jpan · 29/01/2021 14:33

@LJZRBB - It feels so long Sad. Sorry if you have already mentioned this but have you booked your reassurance scan privately at 7 weeks? Was the waiting list long? I'm thinking to book it in now as well... totally agree about not bringing it forward.

LJZRBB · 29/01/2021 15:05

@Jpan yeah I’ll be 7+3. Erm no it wasn’t. But If you only want a evening or weekend there wasn’t a great choice for the specific week if that makes sense!

I did not want to pay the £30 non refundable deposit in case I’m not pregnant by then.... 🥺 I really need to stop thinking like this, truth be told I read MN too much.
