@PurplePansy05 Sorry your conversation about an ELCS didn't go well. As I understand it, you are able to request one for whatever reason and you have the right to be heard. Your midwife should refer you to the perinatal mental health team who should listen to your concerns. might be worth asking for a referral at your next appointment? Or maybe your GP can refer you? I know that if a consultant isn't prepared to offer you an ELCS based on your reasons, they must refer you to another consultant. Most cases I've heard about of women wanting an ELCS get their wish, it just takes a bit of hoop jumping to get there.

In any event, I'd highly recommend the positive birthing company digital pack. It explains in depth about what happens to the body when giving birth and why certain things can happen. I ended up with an ELCS but the pack was still hugely informative and valuable.

sorry this post was meant for @LyraShaeLilly !!!

biscuitcat · 10/02/2021 15:58

@PurplePansy05 I've signed up for NCT too - wanted to get in early as there's only one course in a convenient location for me! I've had so many conflicting thoughts about birth - part of me wants to go all earth mother and have a totally intervention free natural birth, I am Woman, Hear Me Roar type thing 😂 but then also, I keep wondering about an epidural as surely if I can avoid pain then that makes sense? I know I'd like to avoid a section, but only as I live in the country and can't walk anywhere so it would be a pain not to be able to drive!

@WolfMother326 I've found the same! Nausea seems to have just gone (hope it lasts!) and I enjoyed eating salad again the other night, it's been making me gag for weeks. I've even slept though a couple of times without waking for a wee. I want a bump now as otherwise it all feels fake!

lucyrp · 10/02/2021 16:47

@WolfMother326 I only wanted carbs and the plainest boringest food for the first 6 weeks and I hated vegetables when normally I'm a really healthy eater ! I've heard thag with your second you can feel them as early as 16 weeks which is exciting! Of course all dependant but let's hope 😂

Alittlexmasmagic · 10/02/2021 17:17

@WolfMother326 I'm also starting to crave veg & salad again. Still loving a bit of beige though. Upgraded from Pom-Bear crisps to Skips though 😂

Bought a Kallo pillow so can't wait for it to arrive. DH bless him has offered to sleep on the couch tonight to see if having more space will help me sleep xx

LyraShaeLilly · 10/02/2021 17:40

Thank you ladies, you've been very helpful I had to take myself for a walk on my lunch as I was getting so worked up.

Need to sign up to a course I think will have a look at whats available near me!!

lucyrp · 10/02/2021 18:03

Slices of cucumber is my thing at the moment🤤

BertieBotts · 10/02/2021 18:08

I still don't know what I want to eat although I'm not being turned off my everything.

However my poor DH still smells disgusting to me and if he wears a t-shirt for two days in a row I am gagging from the other side of the room!

After I thought I felt kicks at 12 weeks I've had nothing really except an occasional hmm, was that something? But then I usually fart so I think it's just wind :o

I can feel my womb above my public bone now.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 10/02/2021 18:23

I was craving white bread today as I have been eating healthy most days. Was so excited. Toasted two slices, buttered and added some cheese. Had about 4 bites and got sick 🤢

@BertieBotts I have really bad wind issues at this point too and like you can feel my uterus just above my pubic bone too! Counting days to my scan now x

MrsB2019x · 10/02/2021 18:26

I really enjoyed some sweetcorn the other day so hoping the end of beige food only is in sight here too! I’m still mostly beige but peppering in some returning foods here and there

@Alittlexmasmagic Salt and vinegar squares are the crisp of choice here atm 😂 although Skips do sound good!

lucyrp · 10/02/2021 19:03

My belly has got really hard and sticks out quite a bit below my belly button now. Its pretty solid so expecting it to progress from here. I still hate grayed cheese atm. Managed to eat cheese cubes but not grated 😂

Alittlexmasmagic · 10/02/2021 19:26

@BertieBotts I'm normally not too bad with smells but this evening DS's potty contents totally turned my stomach. Then DH came in stinking of hypochlorite, I hate it at the best of times but tonight 🤢 x

PurplePansy05 · 10/02/2021 20:14

Oh @MrsB2019x the thought of sweetcorn has just turned my stomach 🤢 and I've only just said I'm feeling normal...I usually love sweetcorn too! 🤣

I am so glad some of you mentioned your uterus moving up, I think this is what's been happening with mine too but I'm really struggling to identify this feeling tbh 😳

I'm having faggots & mash with peas for dinner tonight, DH is cooking tonight. We had to work a bit longer so yet to have it, what a highlight 😄 xx

biscuitcat · 11/02/2021 09:29

How is everyone this morning?

I slept with my Kally pillow for the first time last night, I might love it more than my husband! Best sleep in weeks - I usually toss and turn something horrid but apparently didn't last night and I feel so refreshed!

Alittlexmasmagic · 11/02/2021 09:39

Morning!
I slept alone last night and feel so much better for it. Poor DH was freezing in the night though so feeling kinda guilty.
Endocrine team have just called and upped my LevoThyroxine dose a little which is good to know it's under control.
Can't wait for my pilllow to arrive x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 11/02/2021 09:43

Good morning all- didn’t sleep well. However I woke up at 5. Exercised for 40 minutes Made a nice warm breakfast burrito with red bell peppers and mushrooms and cheese! Working now feeling really fresh...for now 😊

@biscuitcat it’s a good thing you wrote about the pillow. I was looking into getting one and wanted to know how this is. Although it does look like it does take up abit of room. Thanks for updating us. It is on my list.

However does anyone have any other recommendations of a pillow that doesn’t take up so much room but does provide awesome support?

wimbler · 11/02/2021 10:08

I've got the bbhugme pillow which is expensive but so worth it in my opinion! It's very long but as its sausage shaped I just have it on my side and it doesn't encroach on the bed too much. It's really comfy and moulds to the shape you need it to. can't say it's improving my sleep at all but I am far far more comfortable. I had the dreamgenii last time which was rubbish in comparison

PurplePansy05 · 11/02/2021 10:14

@biscuitcat I feel the same about mine 🤣 DH sleeps half the night with me and half downstairs to cuddle the cats, so I sleep even better 😄 They used to come for snuggles to us in the night, but we're trying to change the routine a bit before the baby arrives, hopefully they'll adjust 😊 There's no chance of the dog leaving my side, but he's tucked in next to our bed nicely 😊 xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 11/02/2021 10:45

@wimbler definitely saw the bbhugme. It’s pricey but the reviews are all 5*. Thanks for telling me about it.

Can you also use the bbhugme as a nursing pillow too when baby is here?

You could definitely use it as a nursing pillow - it's quite large so I'm not sure I would want to lug it around the house but keeping it in bed would be useful. it could support your back and go around you to support the baby if that makes sense?! I kept a pillow between my legs for about 6 months after giving birth as it was so comfortable so I'll probably just use it for nighttime feeds. I have a smaller breastfeeding pillow from my first which I used a lot (the u shaped ones)

MrsB2019x · 11/02/2021 11:19

@Whatshouldbemyusername I envy your productivity!

@biscuitcat That made me chuckle 😂 I’m looking into the Kally, how much space does it take up? We have a super king bed but apparently I hog most of it as it is 👀

Woke up nauseous again this morning, getting so over this 😒

Alittlexmasmagic · 11/02/2021 11:28

@MrsB2019x in theory a good pillow will keep you in one position and stop you bed hogging. That's my defence and I'm sticking to it 😁 despite only being in a double at the mome x

PurplePansy05 · 11/02/2021 11:39

@MrsB2019x The whole point of Kally is to stay fairly snuggled up and supported within its shape so I doubt you'll take that much space tbh. In a king size I'd say it will take less than half of the bed, it take about half a double bed xx

biscuitcat · 11/02/2021 12:14

@MrsB2019x we have a king size (a super king sounds amazing! Would love one of those but our bed and mattress are quite new so sadly can't justify it 😢), and I'd agree with @PurplePansy05, it takes up less than half - there was plenty of space for both of us so I'd have thought in a super king you'd be just fine. It does make having a cuddle more difficult but still doable

Whatshouldbemyusername · 11/02/2021 13:26

@wimbler ah that makes sense. Will probably do that too and get a feeding pillow for the living room. Thank you! I wonder if the bbhugme has any discount codes too?

@PurplePansy05 thank you for letting us know about Kally pillow too. I’d rather get something that I know people are comfy using like this or the bbhugme.

@MrsB2019x my love it’s one of those days. Although I know the drop will be coming in a couple of hours. Just feel it already!
