Thank you @Miniheart 😊 This will soon be a lovely thread full of beautiful scans! Xx

@PurplePansy05

I've been looking for this!! 😊 Hi all!

My rainbow baby Purple says hi too, measuring ahead now, 10+6 💜🌈

I had my NIPT Panorama done privately and they offer a complimentary scan beforehand. The baby was so lively, swimming from one wall of my uterus to another! Incredible! I can't wait to get the results and then the 12 week scan, big milestones. I keep thinking it's a boy after this scan and my friends who know I'm expecting also said they think it's a boy 💜🌈 I just love watching him on the screen! Xx

Amazing 💕💕💕
Alittlexmasmagic · 22/01/2021 08:57

@PurplePansy05 beautiful photo xx

PurplePansy05 · 22/01/2021 11:10

Thank you both @ame88 @alittlexmasmagic 😊 💜

How is everyone feeling today? xx

Thisisbananas3 · 22/01/2021 11:12

@lucyrp welcome :) congratulations! So good to see these positive scan stories!

@PurplePansy05 what an amazing scan!!! It’s so clear!!! You really have a very mini human in there 🥰 is it a gut feeling telling you it’s a boy? Or have you got a clue from the scan?!!

Happy Friday everyone, very much looking forward to not having to work this weekend. Sleep has been challenging this week! My Fitbit tells me I got 4 hours last night so I should feel more awake today! I also keep feeling these strange bubbles in my stomach which I’m sure must be wind, can’t wait for this bloat to be gone!

PurplePansy05 · 22/01/2021 11:17

@Thisisbananas3 Thank you 😊 Well, I read this very silly skull theory online and on MN and this points towards my baby being a boy. But it's probably all a lie 🤣

I have no gut feeling at all, but randomly I have always referred to "him" in my thoughts and I've slipped up with male pronouns when speaking to DH too. I don't know why! And yesterday two of my friends (both mums to boys) said they think it's a boy too.

Panorama test results will tell us what sex the baby is, this is going to be a fun discovery, especially if it's a girl 🤣

LBunz · 22/01/2021 11:29

Excellent scan Purple! So beautiful!!!!!

Does anyone have any tips on how to curb this morning sickness? It's underlying all day, I'm constantly on the verge of retching and if I think too much about it I will retch. I gave the dog some dried sprats this morning while doing some training and almost puked in the garden which wasn't the smartest idea! Luckily not much actual vomiting but finding meal planning / food in general difficult. I don't think I can survive on crumpets, salt and vinegar pringles and oranges.

Alittlexmasmagic · 22/01/2021 11:41

@PurplePansy05 I'm team yellow all the way.
Gut feeling was that DS was a boy from early on, I thought there is no way a baby that gave me so much gas could be anything other than his fathers son 😂.
I also felt like the twins would be boys, purely because I felt designed to be a mum to boys. I still feel like that but starting to think this baby might be a girl 🤔. DH thinks girl.x

Jessicapebbles · 22/01/2021 11:42

Hi guys! I had my 12 week scan this morning and baby is doing very well. Had to eat some chocolate and wiggle lots to wake him/her up.

August 2021 - Scans and booking in!
biscuitcat · 22/01/2021 11:43

@PurplePansy05 gorgeous scan! It must have been lovely seeing him/her bouncing around 🥰

I'm feeling ok today, but then I usually do in the mornings. It's beautiful here, clear and cold and sunny, and that's helping too. Can't wait for the end of the day though, I need a weekend, just a shame it's only two days!

PurplePansy05 · 22/01/2021 11:43

@LBunz Thanks!

Ice lollies all the way for me. Also cream crackers and water with ice and lemon. These three tend to settle my tummy very quickly.

If you're actually hungry then I still recommend my holy grail sandwich, plain white bread, plain full fat Philadelphia and ready salted Walkers. This is my favourite thing in the world, although it's recently evolved to white toast, Philadelphia and Marmite. Delight! How far along are you now? I'm 11 weeks today and slowly better and more adventurous with food xx

PurplePansy05 · 22/01/2021 11:46

Thank you @biscuitcat 😊 It was brilliant to watch, honestly!

Beautiful scan too @Jessicapebbles, congratulations 😊💝 xx

PurplePansy05 · 22/01/2021 11:47

from early on, I thought there is no way a baby that gave me so much gas could be anything other than his fathers son

I can really relate to this @Alittlexmasmagic 🙈

BertieBotts · 22/01/2021 11:53

I've been looking at skull theory too :o I usually think it's a load of rubbish but oh well, it's a bit of fun isn't it!

My scan pic looks like girl from that. DS2's looks like a boy. I can't find DS1's any more.

LBunz · 22/01/2021 11:53

@PurplePansy05 ooooh ice lollies are an excellent shout, thank you!

I'm about 10 weeks, so hopefully it will pass I'm just worried I'm eating so few veggies. White bread, lurpak and pickled onion space raiders are keeping me going right now Grin

@Jessicapebbles lovely scan!! Much deserved chocolate. It's so lovely seeing all the scans coming in now.

winnie3838 · 22/01/2021 12:15

Aw lovely to see these scan pictures - congrats! Do they normally tell you the sex at the 20week scan?

I am pretty much at the end of my first trimester now - did anyone else make it through with no sickness? I'm feeling very lucky. Between around weeks 6-9 i felt queasy a few times but not to the point where i couldn't eat my meals as normal or was sick. No cravings or food/smell aversions either!

The worst part of the first trimester for me was the toilet trips in the night 😩At the worst point it was 5 times a night. The last week has been so much better though, only going 1- 2 times a night now thank goodness.

Miniheart · 22/01/2021 12:20

Ahh @Jessicapebbles such a lovely scan photo! You must be so pleased.

I resonate with all the nausea... comes in waves. On off sleep and strange eating habits. I just feel a bit bleurgh today... lacking in motivation.

Does anyone else feel a bit conflicted about whether to get the covid vaccine? It seems in one breath we are being told that trials weren’t carried out on pregnant people so the research isn’t there yet so we should be cautious, but then the actual vaccine people are saying that if we work in a priority group we should still take it but consult with GP / midwife before. My midwife says it’s a personal choice. I feel like at the moment there just isn’t and maybe there can’t be a clear stance and it’s tricky to know what to do!

BertieBotts · 22/01/2021 12:30

I don't think it's likely to cause harm to a developing foetus but of course you don't know.

I am quite glad in some ways the decision has been taken from me as I have been stopped working rather than have to take the risk/choice.

They do usually tell you the sex at the 20 week scan yes :) If you want to know, and if baby is cooperating and not at an awkward angle! Apparently you can see it from about 14/16 weeks but not really earlier.

Thisisbananas3 · 22/01/2021 12:36

@PurplePansy05 oh I’ve read the skull and nub theory too, there’s a thread where the user gets most of the correct so you never know! Will be interested if it is a boy or girl! When do you get your test results?

@LBunz oh I feel for you. I can’t suggest anything that curbs it, but things that I am able to eat that dont set it off are soft foods- croissants, bagels, hot cross buns, bananas, porridge, weetabix. Ice lollies are great to try and get that horrid taste out your mouth and give you some water. Don’t worry about not eating greens- just eat what you can! Your baby will take all the good stuff from what you are eating, just do what you can to get through! I found flat lemonade is a drink I could tolerate as water just makes me sick. I also constantly wear sea bands and have been prescribed medication. The medicine is great for stopping the vomiting but doesn’t get rid of the nausea, plus it makes me so drowsy!

@Jessicapebbles gorgeous scan!!!!!! 🥰

I really envy those of you with no sickness! Though I have barely peed (dehydration from sickness I think! )so no night trips for me fortunately! Swings and roundabouts?

As to the vaccine- I’m not sure. I’m working from home but do need to meet clients but my risk is lower than people having to go into the office. I think my gut is to not take it but then I wouldn’t call myself vulnerable.

biscuitcat · 22/01/2021 12:36

@Jessicapebbles lovely pic from you too! (And a nice bonus that you got chocolate too!)

I've been quite nauseous which has been unpleasant, but not every day. I had about a week off recently and thought it was gone for good but sadly not! I've also thrown up in my mouth quite a few times (sorry, tmi!) but not had big throw ups. I don't quite know how that ranks with a sort of average level of morning sickness. Ginger beer helped for me (but ginger tea didn't for some reason), and nibbling plain crackers or anything salty.

I think if I had the option I probably would take the vaccine. I'm not frontline healthcare so not a priority group, but I think I might have the opportunity to go on a waiting list for if there are any leftover doses at the end of the day at some point - I'll ask the midwife when I see her about that I think

Jessicapebbles · 22/01/2021 12:46

@biscuitcat @Thisisbananas3 @LBunz @Miniheart @PurplePansy05 Thank you ☺️ The chocolate was a bonus!

Is anyone else on here having a surprise gender baby?

Xx

Magik01 · 22/01/2021 12:48

I’ve got a private scan tomorrow which I should be 11 weeks Grin Excited and nervous at the same time.

Also my sickness seems to be subsiding so that’s good but constantly need to pee. Blush

Beautiful scans everyone who have posted!

LBunz · 22/01/2021 12:57

@Thisisbananas3 it's funny isn't it, most of the things you mentioned are a total no go for me Grin I tried porridge a few days ago but the texture was an absolutely 'nope' moment! I have been chugging cold water like it's going out of fashion so night time toilet trips are a bugger (especially with a dog who thinks its morning / playtime any time we get out of bed Grin)

I'm unlikely to be offered vaccine I think due to not working / not at risk etc, but I too am undecided. I keep reading both pro and cons. If it wasn't pregnant I would 100% get it however.

@Jessicapebbles we're not finding out sex. Never really wanted to, although I do keep seeing gendered clothing and thinking awww maybe we should, but it's usually a fleeting hormonal thought more than anything haha.

My skin has started going haywire though, not sure if it's hormones but the spots on my chin are atrocious.

PurplePansy05 · 22/01/2021 13:04

@Thisisbananas3 The results can take up to 2 weeks, I should have them just before/after my 12 week scan which is what I was aiming for. Sometimes they can be inconclusive if not enough of the baby's DNA has been detected in the sample but in such case they just take another sample. Sex might be known anyway from the original sample, I don't think you need as much to detect it as in case of assessing the risk of certain developmental issues.

I was firmly in the camp of not finding out the sex and so was my DH but after everything we've been through, we know that we genuinely do not care about the sex, just about a good pregnancy and a healthy baby, so we didn't mind finding out. 😊 Xx

Happy Friday everyone!
Loving these scan pics 💕
My eating has progressed past plain carbs! I had tomatoes for breakfast (albeit on toast!) then apples (albeit dipped in peanut butter!) but it's better than what I have been eating 😂
I have my booking in scan over the phone at 3.30 so looking forward to that!
