We had to pay at an NHS hospital, it was £3 for one or 2 for £5. I got two & had to pay by card so it could be contactless

BertieBotts · 09/02/2021 11:58

Aww thanks everyone. He is 2.5 now so those pictures are a bit old but just wanted to show some younger baby outfits that can be unisex without being bland :) I know the plainer, more traditional stuff is to some people's taste as well but not mine.

I am itching to get all the teeny clothes out and sort them.

I had to pay for pics at NHS hospitals with my first DC. Some they only accept exact change as well! Although contactless does sound more likely these days.

Yay Champson how exciting to see all 3! I suppose reducing would reduce the risks, and if you were struggling with the thought of 3 it might be an idea, but defo a shock to have it sprung on you! I felt similarly when I got pregnant with DS1 and I was only 19, it was everyone's first reaction "Well you could have an abortion you know" I know but I don't want to Confused :(

I don't want to jinx it but DS2 seems to finally (and very suddenly!) be sleeping through the night. It seems that once he decides to do something, he does it. He's slept through every night since Thursday, despite never ever doing it before since he was born! The only night he woke up was when his nappy leaked right through his pyjamas.

I'm in Cardiff, had to pay £5 for scan photos and they don't accept cards 🤣 Covid measures for you lol. So I'm bringing cash to my 20 week appointment, they said it will be fine if I pay then.

Lovely scans, ladies, and more positive scan news all, that's what I love to hear 😊❤ Hope everyone is feeling good today, @Alittlexmasmagic I hope it was just a one-off sickness for you!

@Miniheart I'm in a double bed too (we're buying a bigger one for the new house) and it takes half of the space. My DH is medium-size and he's still ok with it.

So I told work and everyone was delighted. I was also halfway through being recruited for a new job (externally) and my potential new employer will wait for my return from maternity, they're not planning to look for anyone else and they appreciated my honesty. Today I feel like it's my little victory after years of hard work and being underestimated in a male-dominated industry. Long may this continue, things are changing for better and I'm a big believer that we have to be firm and fair when looking after our interests, it does eventually pay off ❤ xx

Jessicapebbles · 09/02/2021 12:44

Yes mine was an NHS hospital, I paid £10 for 3 photos at my 12 week scan ☺️ It was the same with my daughter 3 years ago too x

lucyrp · 09/02/2021 12:49

That's really odd I thought it was a welsh thing! I had my scans with DS in an English hospital and had to pay £5 for each picture and I think the cardboard frames were extra! This time I went to our local hospital in wales and I got two pictures for free !

I also told my boss yesterday and was so worried but her reply was "wooo congratulations! So pleased for you" so I'm so much more chilled out now 😅

Carefree1 · 09/02/2021 13:33

Aww wow some lovely scan photos and news 🥰. Can’t wait to see more!

I had to pay for photos, it was £7 per set of 2 and paid by contactless only.

I’m so pleased for your works reactions @PurplePansy05, glad your new employer is waiting too! & to @lucyrp what an amazing boss 😊. I’m really nervous to tell work, I work in a male dominated industry, both company and client side. But, I don’t want to leave it too late and want to ensure that my replacement for my client is a great fit xc

Whatshouldbemyusername · 09/02/2021 15:53

Great news work related for everyone. I work in the civil service and am due to move departments so didn’t want to tell my current department that I’m 🤰🏽 but got really bad morning (all day sickness) in week 10 that had to call in sick for 3 days so had to tell them. I’m still undergoing internal checks from the new department but realistically by the time I move I will have to tell them as I bet it will be around week 20 anyways!x

MrsB2019x · 09/02/2021 17:23

@ame88 Lovely scan! You must be really relieved ☺️

@WolfMother326 Usually our hospital charge for scan pictures but because you have to use a machine to prepay they closed it off and we got them for free. We got 3 pictures ☺️

DeusEx · 09/02/2021 17:41

@Whatshouldbemyusername same ref civil service and moving departments! I’m currently in the middle of the HR argument about whether I move before or after maternity leave begins - I am VERY keen for clarity as a departmental move also means a country move, and I can only actually fly for another three and a half to four months...!

Totally fine to start with a new department when 20 weeks pregnant - you’ll have a good few months to bed in. Good luck with the new job :)

DeusEx · 09/02/2021 17:43

I know the civil service are supposed to be really good for maternity leave and everything else, but working out when to tell line manager and then deal with the guilt of feeling you’re letting people down by being away (in my case, ending my current job early) is something I’m really struggling with Confused

WatermelonKisses · 09/02/2021 18:51

I'm in Scotland and didn't have to pay for pics, I got about 7 as well but she did say she was giving me extra and not to tell anyone 😂 we get free prescriptions too so not sure if it's linked to that.

ame88 · 09/02/2021 19:35

Soooo relieved! I feel like I can breathe again

Miniheart · 09/02/2021 19:45

My scan appointment letter says to bring my camera/phone into the appointment as we won’t be offered any scan prints and can’t even pay for them 🙁

Champson · 09/02/2021 20:05

Thank you @BertieBotts - I can’t believe people said that to you!!! Like how rude can people be? So weird they stick their noses in particularly when it comes to pregnancy and kids.

biscuitcat · 09/02/2021 20:18

@ame88 what a lovely scan, and I hope the wait is less stressful for you now - it'll be amazing seeing how much baby changes between now and the NHS scan!

@Smallbean27 mine was the same as yours, usually have to pay from a machine but because of covid she printed off 6 for us for free!

@Miniheart oh no, you must feel so disappointed - what a shame. I wonder why they can't print them off for you, I thought the machines had a printing capability (though admittedly that's based only on my very limited looking during scans)

HopefulB · 09/02/2021 20:42

Nice scan pics and good news on people telling work. I’m getting anxious about scan. Now 11+5 by LMP, and no appointment, plus I know that there weren’t any last week & they were meant to call and let me know when resolved. Only 9 working days left as an option before too late for nuchal/combined. Presumably I’d have had a call if they were going to squeeze me in tmrw, so can make that 8 Confused

They don’t seem to answer the phone, so have emailed today, and also contacted private provider as a back up.

Opalfruits2 · 10/02/2021 06:11

Hope you get through to them. 12 weeks seemed like such a loooooong time to wait to see baby anyway.
I would’ve thought it’d be this week, for the genetic testing!! Hugs Star

MrsB2019x · 10/02/2021 07:03

Full of pregnant wrath this morning as new next door neighbors woke me up at 3:30 having VERY loud sex. 😡😡

lucyrp · 10/02/2021 07:28

We announced on social media last night and got a lot of love but woken up this morning feeling a little bit sad that it's not just our little secret anymore ... am I weird 🙈😭 emotional wreck lol

Whatshouldbemyusername · 10/02/2021 07:34

@MrsB2019x eek. A nap on the cards for you today x

@lucyrp aaaw. It’s just the pregnancy hormones I think. Congratulations on the announcement.

Hope everyone is well and has a good day today x

MrsB2019x · 10/02/2021 07:39

Aww how lovely @lucyrp 🥰 I can see what you mean though! We have told friends and close family but haven’t done an announcement on social media yet, I think part of me enjoys holding it quite close too!

lucyrp · 10/02/2021 07:42

@Whatshouldbemyusername I'm feeling very emotional today so definitely 🙈

@MrsB2019x yeah we started to tell more family after our scan Monday, I've wanted to do a social media announcement because I never did with my first as I was so young I thought i would be judged. So wanted to be proud of it this time especially as it took us so long. I also wanted to be the one to put it out there and not people finding out and asking me from other people if you get me 🙈

LyraShaeLilly · 10/02/2021 07:43

I completed my booking appt yesterday 2 weeks delayed because of the snow.

Does anybody know If you as the patient are allowed to write in your maternity notes? There was a conversation that was not resolved yesterday and I just want to document that it happened?

PurplePansy05 · 10/02/2021 08:16

@LyraShaeLilly I would add a page with this in or a post it note, just ask next time if you can add it in. I actually wrote in mine because my MW put the wrong emergency next of kin telephone no (she put mine in, not DH's), so I thought it was justified. She also put a slightly wrong date and details of my prior history which I've crossed out and amended, but I didn't add anything in terms of our discussions etc. In fact mine are barely documented tbh, there's not that much in there IMO. But do take the note, you'll feel calmer. xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 10/02/2021 08:33

@LyraShaeLilly they're your notes, so they can't really stop you. If you're concerned, just treasury tag a new page in. It's always better to write stuff down rather than have it forgotten. Is it anything we can help with? x
