Hello everyone, hope it's ok to join Smile

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and my app says I'm due on the 26th of August. It's our first baby, so I'm constantly flitting between being on cloud 9 and being utterly terrified! I've booked in with the midwife and I have my scan on the 12th feb. Was really hoping lockdown might have lifted a little by then so we could tell family in person but it looks like it's not to be Sad

Wishing everyone all the best on this crazy journey!

biscuitcat · 27/01/2021 18:14

@Rattycliffe lovely picture! And I suppose a little bonus that you get an extra scan?

lucyrp · 27/01/2021 18:18

Rang the midwife today to chase up my scan but had to leave a message for someone to ring me back. Hope I get a letter tomorrow or a phone call. My hormones are affecting my patience 🤣

Miniheart · 27/01/2021 18:20

Little wriggler! Pleased you had a good scan @Rattycliffe!

Great news @BertieBotts that’s not too long to wait at all!

MrsB2019x · 27/01/2021 19:49

Great scan @Rattycliffe! Lucky you get to have 2 scans 😁

Welcome @Whatshouldbemyusername @Sprockerdilerock ☺️

Hope you get a scan date soon @lucyrp, how many weeks are you now?

HopefulB · 27/01/2021 20:41

Hi @Whatshouldbemyusername and @Sprockerdilerock.

Hope those with n & v have had an easier afternoon?

The bloat is real for me today!
Also massively fed up with sore boobs and replacing bra’s. I bought 2 new one’s for last pregnancy as I went up two cup sizes before I found out about MMC. This time I’ve gone up two cup sizes and a band size.... so they’re not even comfortable! My skin seems so delicate at the mo that it’s getting really sore around the band Confused
And the M&S delivery got delayed (having only ordered from them as I thought it would be click & collect next day). Grrrr.

Rant over. Sorry such a minor thing to be annoyed about!

lucyrp · 27/01/2021 20:45

@MrsB2019x 10+4 today and we're supposed to get our scan letters 2 weeks before the appointment 🥺

Alittlexmasmagic · 27/01/2021 20:50

@HopefulB now sounds like the time to embrace comfort.
Scrap the bras, especially wired ones. I tend to wear crop top types and bralettes, I don't run anywhere so it's not a problem even though I'm around a DD just now. I will put a bra on for special occasions though 😊.
Big knickers, full brief multipack knickers in a size too big. So Unattractive but sooooo comfy.x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 27/01/2021 20:50

@MrsB2019x and @HopefulB thank you so much!

Speaking of bras - I haven’t been too sure when to buy new ones. I’m at 10 weeks and breasts are growing but someone told me to get new bras after week 18 as that’s when they “settle”. Is that true? Where’s the best place to get good maternity bras?

@Sprockerdilerock hey! - my app says 26th august too but I calculated based on my period length and one of the app has changed it to 23rd august. I guess I will wait for my scan on 16th feb to know an EDD Smile

lucyrp · 27/01/2021 20:53

On the bra front I have some big t shirt non wired ones from last pregnancy so going to dig them out soon. I also like the nursing tops that incorporate a support band

Miniheart · 28/01/2021 07:30

@Sprockerdilerock @Whatshouldbemyusername I’m also a first timer and 10 weeks today and according to the apps due 26th Aug although another app said 23rd Aug. Completely resonate with those feelings of excitement and nerves. Having my first private scan tomorrow for a bit of reassurance. Was also really hoping to be able to tell our families face to face in the coming weeks but these restrictions seem never ending!

Thanks for the advice about the bras, I’ve also been unsure of when to buy some new ones as I’m starting to feel uncomfortable. I think crop top / bralettes sound the way forward. Oh and big comfy pants all the way!!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 28/01/2021 07:41

@lucyrp ooh think I’m gonna do bralettes too. Thanks for the tip.

@Miniheart that’s amazing. Yours is just like mine. Congratulations to you and hope the scan goes well today. Keep us posted x

I know what you mean about telling family and friends. Since my scan is 16th feb really hoping by then restrictions have relaxed abit so can atleast tell parents in person!

lucyrp · 28/01/2021 07:57

On the pants front I can't weed anything other than thongs with clothes, I obviously wear big comfy ones for period at home but nope has to be thongs so found some comfy ones with no vpl which are great 👀

@Whatshouldbemyusername I've got loads of halter neck hollister bralletes but they tend to make my neck hurt at the moment as my boobs are getting heavier 🤣

MrsB2019x · 28/01/2021 08:17

Funnily enough was going to ask on here about bras the other day so thank you! 🙌

PurplePansy05 · 28/01/2021 08:37

@Lucyrp Your appointment won't be bang on at 12 weeks though. Plus there are RM delays now, the letter will probably come through shortly. If not, ring the hospital on Monday.

lucyrp · 28/01/2021 08:51

@PurplePansy05 no of course not but I'm 12 weeks next Saturday so was hoping to have had the letter by then. We're supposed to get the letter 2 weeks before hand. The hospital I'm having my scans at is a small cottage hospital so they're not exactly over run with pregnant women there's probably very few that will be going there. I need to know 8 working days before hand too so my OH can have time off work

PurplePansy05 · 28/01/2021 09:01

Ring them up then. Beside, your DH is legally entitled to attend I believe two antenatal appointments with you so his employer should not stop him.

lucyrp · 28/01/2021 09:15

@PurplePansy05 yeah I rang yesterday and left a message so just waiting for a call back. I would have booked another private scan if I knew it was going to take so long 🙈

afictionado · 28/01/2021 09:16

Lovely to see some scan photos on here, so many people are getting over the 12 week mark now! I'm waiting very impatiently for mine which still seems a long time away.

Is anyone else having heartburn? I've had it for a few weeks now whenever I lie down, makes getting to sleep difficult some nights even though I'm constantly exhausted. 🙁 I don't remember it starting this early last time.

Sprockerdilerock · 28/01/2021 09:19

Thanks for the welcomes!

@Whatshouldbemyusername and @Miniheart I got the 22nd of August when I calculated from conception so who knows Grin Weirdly we have a private scan tomorrow too - it's my DHs birthday so I thought it would be a good surprise present Smile

My boobs also havent grown at all, I'm quite flat chested so was really hoping they would - is it normal not to have any soreness/growth at 10 weeks? They just look very veiny lol

Jessicapebbles · 28/01/2021 10:03

@afictionado My heartburn started around 9 weeks, it’s definitely worse in the evenings and unfortunately it’s still sticking around at 13 weeks! I found “Peptac” has been quite helpful although I would check with your pharmacist that you can have it.

I had a phone call from the doctor’s this morning saying I have a water infection - I’ve had a full ache in my lower abdomen but put it down to stretching etc.

Hope everyone is keeping ok, I’m starting to feel less fatigued now and don’t need to nap every day which is an extremely welcome feeling!

WatermelonKisses · 28/01/2021 10:03

My boobs barely shrunk from last time (I breastfed for 14 months) then got pregnant when my baby was 16 months so I'm still in maternity/nursing bras. I bought two new expensive wired bras about a week before I got pregnant, what a waste! Hope they fit me after this baby if I breastfeed again! I really like the H&M maternity/nursing bras which come in a two pack of grey and black for £19.99. They are super comfy.

biscuitcat · 28/01/2021 10:18

Scan this morning was all good, thank goodness! Baby did a little jump but was otherwise very chilled, and so lovely hearing the heartbeat. We had to stop on the way home though so I could pee, was so desperate after filling up on water for the scan 😂

August 2021 - Scans and booking in!
coffeeandrainbows1 · 28/01/2021 10:18

@Sprockerdilerock oh don’t worry I’m flat chested too and with my first I didn’t get some boobs until near the end and then wanted to tear them off after birth when the milk is making them throb 😂 but I’m now 13 weeks and can feel some pressure in my chest sometimes but still have no cleavage 🙈
