Happy Birthday Bettymama... Amani dont think you missed it i think someone was just being very good at remembering....

susiemj · 12/11/2007 11:04

Just popping in to say good morning.

at the Christmas present buying! Although in fact you are all completely right. I'm not exactly going to feel like it in December, am I?

Had a lovely weekend- a friend came to stay all the way from London - 450 miles! - she wanted to see my enormous tummy. She used to work for Sony so she showed us how to use the video camera we've had since our wedding but never quite got round to... Just in time for baby!

We went out for lucnh in a Spanish delicatessan in town where I can eat precisely ONE thing at the moment as it's all unpasteurised / uncooked / fresh mayonnaise. It was a huge achievement for me as have been housebound etc (as you know). And who should I see there? My brand new shiny doctor who has only had my word for it so far that I've been ill for 6 months. How ill did I look? Not at all. And it must have looked as if I were breaking every dietary guideline for preggers people. V. embarrassing.

Enjoying food was FABULOUS though. First time in months... I still seem to be geting better (though collapsed yesterday exhausted. LOL at 'are we having naps?', madmouse! Am I having much else? No!)

Angechica - LOL at dog and birth ball!
Luckysalem - sounds like BH to me.

Blows kisses to everyone - off to make soup!

fluffymummy · 12/11/2007 11:19

Bettymama - happy birthday!

Lulubump....grrr!! I want to know all the gory SIL details NOW!!! Please don't make us wait!!

MM - thanks hun, you're a star! Ds is 26 months and we knew he would enjoy it as he loved Singapore zoo at 18 months and Whipsnade at about 20, but were quite at how much he took in yesterday, as he didn't always look that interested. When he was lying in bed last night he was telling his toys all about the different animals, and how the tiger was lying near the window and there weren't any elephants and the gorillas were eating lunch...we were standing outside his door giggling for ages!

Bettymamma · 12/11/2007 11:19

My god - how did you remember it was birthday!! Even my RL friends forgot. Thank you very much.

Am at work today so it feels like any other day but I did have a very nice home made card from my dd and my dh bought me a lovely coat (which i can't do up cos of the bump but quote the lady in M&S - you won't be pregnant forever!)

susiemj - enjoying food lovely. I've been craving and eating caesar salads till they come out of my ears - completely ignorant of the fact that parmesan cheese in unpasteurised. Whoops.

Thankyou and hello Mixedmama, Amani and lulubump.

Lulubump - happy birthday to you too! Didn't realise. Sounds a good weekend away. I didn't like the sound of that cocodamol. Happy the pain has gone away by its own accord. Do you sleep with a pillow between your knees? Silly question - but its helped stop any hip pains I've been getting. Bouncing def helps too. Weird how exercising the muscles makes them click into place?!

Amani - sorry about the bad sleep. Thought of you Sat night. Ate all the wrong things as a birthday treat and was writhing about in agony at 1am till 3am with indigestion. Really bad. I feel for you!

Fluffymummy - well done with the bed. My turn this weekend with dd. Wish me luck.

Mixedmama - baby shower! I'm jealous. That's really thoughtful. I should drop some major hints i think.

Gingeme - have fun xmas shopping. Internet shopping all the way for me.

Right better work - they've moved my desk near to where the CEO can see. Great! speak later.xx

ps - am celebrating birthday this evening with a tour of the hospital's maternity ward. HOw fun!?

Amani · 12/11/2007 11:52

Fluffy - your DS sounds soooo cute.

Bettymama - yes still suffering from this awful insomnia (can I call it that?). I've read 1 and half novels in the last week when I've been awake at some ridiclous hour.

hi all, happy birthday bettymama

fluffy, ds is just coming up to 18months, so far the bed has mostly gone well, he fell out last night so there were tears but settled quickly again. the bad part is the daytime nap, he used to go down beautifully after lunch, not a peep, now he's out running around his room for about an hour. 2 days ago we gave up and he had no nap, yest i was depressed at the thought of no more naps so decided to shut the living room door and ignore him... anyway he slept/was quiet for over 2 hrs but we have no idea what he was up to. think he might have slept on the floor?!?! trying again now so will see what happens...good luck with everyone else moving dcs to a bed.

re zoo, took ds to london zoo about 12months, bit to young, now i think he would love it. but i was disappointed at no elephants too good for the eles, bad for me! thinking of trying colchester zoo next, anyone been there?

i'm feeling down today too, was in tears this morning at the though of dh going back to work, just generally exhausted and down, hoping some daytime naps (if ds allows) will cheer me up a bit.

christmas - must start doing something, tho did get the decorations down! mostly cos dh said he didn't want to be going up and down all the time and i wanted the baby stuff down. don't worry not putting them up or anything anytime soon!
tho i did buy a light up snowglobe from M&S (totally frivolous purchase but dh didn't seem to mind ) and ds loves that when it gets dark, makes up for lack of fireworks!

right, must eat food, and lie down to try and sleep, maybe shd invest in earplugs so can't hear ds running around? or is that bad parenting, hmm....

LilyLoo · 12/11/2007 12:17

Happy Birthday bm

Bettymamma · 12/11/2007 12:18

I think thats absolutely fine parenting! I tend to go into the kitchen and shut the kitchen door so I can't hear the protests at nap time. I'm sure I will have a similar problem with the nap. They do quite mad if they don't sleep though don't they?? Oh help - how do we do this with 2? Wheres gingeme and tripletsandtwins!

beller · 12/11/2007 12:26

Oh my God..have just been catching up on here..and i think there has been some sort of explosion in London! Just looked out of the window.and there is a HUGE plume of smoke...think coming from the canary wharf..or stratford area?!?! Hope everyone is ok..not sure what has caused it yet

fluffymummy · 12/11/2007 12:34

katyts1 - I'm not sure if ds has properly figured out yet that he can actually get out of bed if he wants to and isn't in the mood to sleep. I mean, I know he knows how to get in and out of bed, but I think it just hasn't occurred to him that nothing can make him stay there now! Not sure how long that will last ...a friend moved her ds into a bed around the same age and said it took about 2 weeks for the penny to drop!

Definitely not bad parenting to close the door and ignore the noise if you know that they're fine and the noise is just complaining rather than anything being wrong - and the room is toddler-safe, of course ...earplugs sound perfectly reasonable

Btw, there are lots of 'big' animals at Whipsnade, which is pretty close to London, depending on where you live. There definitely used to be elephants at LZ, I can rememeber them from when I was little, but I wasn't heartbroken to see that they had gone as they never looked very happy in that tiny amount of space

mixedmama · 12/11/2007 12:35

Beller - I cant see anything here and just checked the BBC and Sky websites and nothing... am going to actually look out of the window now. We would have heard it tho wouldnt we???

mixedmama · 12/11/2007 12:36

DS has been in his bed since about 17 months and we havent had too many probs,... I do have to put him to sleep for his naps and then move him, lovely to hear him get up in the morning and totter into our room tho.

Amani · 12/11/2007 12:36

checked bbc - it just says large plume of smoke seen rising from fire in eastlondon -more soon.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 12/11/2007 12:41

Am checking again....

beller · 12/11/2007 12:42

mixedmama · 12/11/2007 12:46

Looks like it is part of the olympic site apparently so a colleague tells me.

beller · 12/11/2007 12:47

well think TV are saying either hackney or stratford...either way will be an interesting journey home...hope there arnt too many peopl involved!

MrsBiscuit · 12/11/2007 12:49

Happy Birthday Bettymama

Nicky6 - good luck with the trial. Keeping fingers crossed for an early outcome.

Katyt1 - how are you feeling today? I think that these patches of being up and down are normal, and hoping will pass soon. Must be hormones

Lulubump - are you back from your meeting yet? Want to know what's happening with SIL...

Susiemj - first on my list of 'Things I'm going to stuff my face with once the baby's born' is jamon serrano. I love the stuff. It must have been torture looking at a menu of yummy Spanish food and not being able to indulge.

beller · 12/11/2007 12:54

Nicky6 - Yayyy for winning the NY ticket..just think of al that fab shopping! Good luck with the trial x

sabinar · 12/11/2007 12:58

more birthday wishes for BettyMama from me

apparently it's just a fire at the Olympic site and nothing to worry about, no one hurt and nothing explosive.

I'm also looking forward to the update from Lulubump re: SIL... hurry up! (I guess I could busy myself with something productive but that would be a bit proactive)

MW appt. went well - BP, weeing on a stick, heartbeat etc. all good and it seems that LO is currently in the perfect position... wonder if that will last! (please say yes!)

Lots of talking about preparation for birth etc... makes me start to realise that we really are starting to get close now! DH was saying that he'll be quite happy when this whole pregnancy and birth palaver is all over... personally, I'm in no rush.... once that's over then I've got a baby to look after! V exciting but also v scary!

katyt1 · 12/11/2007 13:01

mrs B, def hormones, since just reading your post brings tears to my eyes, so i think i am on a majorly sensitive thing at the mo. ds not napping isn't helping. tho dh has just phoned and said he would try to be home for teatime & bathtime tonight, thanks goodness. poor bloke doesn't know what to do with a tearful pg wife!
hope he can make it home from ldn with this fire, coud mess around with the trains big time....

whipsnade worth a try too i guess.
i never saw the eles in LZ but the giraffes looked sad enough so glad they moved the bigger animals.
spent lots of time in africa seeing animals in the wild so i find zoos a bit tricky to enjoy anyway, only going for ds.

fluffy - i know others have said that about their dc not realising they can climb out, unfortunately for me ds realised straight away, boo

beller · 12/11/2007 13:01

ooh forgot to say..went to a lovely remembrance day parade in Brentwood yest....was soooooo emotional..I burt into tears before the parade when i saw 4 old people sat on a bench! Then when the veterans came rouns i started again...then when they played the last post..i was off again...Was a great service though x

MrsBiscuit · 12/11/2007 13:20

Beller - me too - sad at Remembrance Parade, that is. DH was laying a wreath and I was trying to think of happy mental images so that I wouldn't cry.. That and praying he wouldn't slip over on the cobbles

Lulubump · 12/11/2007 13:23

I'm back - meetings finally over, so here's the update on SIL:

She's really been on my other SIL's case lately (her younger sister), for no apparent reason, and keeps ranting on and on about how she is so irresponsible. I have been PMSL - she doesn't see the irony in her saying her sis is irresponsible for clubbing very weekend at the age of 21 (personally, think that's totally to be expected), when she is going through an unplanned pregnancy with a married man!!!!

She has now gone all huffy and said her younger sis is being a cow, and so she's not going to tell her about her pregnancy. LOL - like THAT news is some kind of reward for good behaviour????

Makes me wonder even more if she really is pg at all!

Amani · 12/11/2007 13:31

she's not pregnant - attention seeking
