Hi all

Mixedmama, sorry about the row and bad night.

LuckySalem in my experience (refugee clients) Jobcentre s*cks. CAB is your best bet, the sooner you can get there the better. Compensation is well and good but it will take at least months to get any so not much help now.

Beller - counting days with you. Also have bum in my right rib and occassionally something under my right rib and then I can only get comfy with my arms behind my head until he moves it. Silly babbit, has a whole womb, what is so good about that spot!?

Managed to trip on the office front steps and landed on my knee this morning so now it hurts. Baby paranoia kicked in (silly I know) but soon enough the baby kicked in too .

Anyone else watched the mummy diaries on C4 last night. I sobbed my way through it. My mum first had cancer when I was 13 and died ten years later, combined with hormones and impending motherhood, oh dear, floodgates. DH came in shortly after and I had to say straight away that nothing was wrong and told him what I had watched. He knew enough then . Slept surprisingly well after.

Sorry for the ramble. Hope everyone will have a good day.

MamaMaiasaura · 09/11/2007 11:20

MOnring all. Sorry to see that lots of you didnt sleep well last night.

I managed to get through with only 2 trips to the loo. Totady was the day i could have major lie in as ds at his dads and dp at work..... Nextdoor started drilling typical!

Planning a relaxing day as been busy last few days and fingers and feet swelling up very quickly.

Weired dreams last night about the flood warning and that i wasstuck in flood with 2 day old baby (who was 9lb 12oz at birth! lol) He could also walk and talk. PMSL. These dreams are very strange.

Re the massage thing, DP isnt at all touchy feely, which i find hard as i am very much the other way. He doesnt stroke or anything very often. Broahced it with him last night as with baby he will need to learn how to sooth and wind etc. His dad wasnt very affectionate tho. When we went to see him with ds1 he said ds1 was too big for cuddles as my ds1 is very cuddley with me. I told ds1 to take no notice. Does explain DP's relctance to be cuddled at times tho.

beller · 09/11/2007 11:26

mixedmamma- sorry about your row...good news about being sahm though...hope it all gets sorted xx

Madmouse - I know...also when s/he then stretchs..i have a weird feeling from rib to pelvis! all very strange...cant wait to meet the little fellow now though

Awen - Hope the swelling goes down...its hard re- un touchy feely hubbie...when they have been one way for so long..hard to change isnt it?! Enjoy your relaxing day xx

mixedmama · 09/11/2007 11:44

Awen long bath with music blarin.

madmouse · 09/11/2007 11:55

Beller, I so know what you mean. If I push on my right rib I feel my bladder (and a very annoyed baby (he is rather territorial )

Amani · 09/11/2007 12:02

Madmouse - I saw that programme briefly, but couldn't bring myself to watch all of it as I found it to emotional.

MM - will you be ok living with BIL?

mixedmama · 09/11/2007 12:22

He is just such a pompous ass Amani... and rude to his (older) brother as well and brings random girls home but doesnt let them leave the bedroom "out of respect" (my foot). Answers the door to either of us and just walks away no social skills whatsoever... we dont like each other but to hius own bro.

Amani · 09/11/2007 12:25

MM - if that's the case, how are you going to all live together?

MrsMcJnr · 09/11/2007 12:28

Hey ladies how are you all? Work has been so busy (and I spent yesterday afternoon at my 30 week physio class) and I am suffering withdrawal symptoms from speaking to you all. I?ve been feeling a bit lonely and scared and ill informed and I think it?s because I haven?t been talking to you lot much!

The physio class was great; only 8 of us and the physio herself was wonderful. The subject matter was a bit of an eye opener though and it made me realise that I know nothing at all about labour most of the other ladies, though all due around the same time as me, knew more ? mostly because their AN classes had begun but I realised I didn?t have a clue about the signs of going into labour (apart from the obvious waters breaking, contractions and painful ones at that), what the stages were, how long they lasted and how long contractions lasted for, how long you were likely to push for etc! felt so clueless did a bit of work on breathing and relaxation, on positions for labour, on massage during labour, prep and aftercare of pelvic floors etc (and clllllllllleeeeeeeeeeennnnchhhh! and we discussed and learnt about TENS machines which was useful. As it was a small class, we talked a lot about our own fears and most ladies felt the same as me, how do you assert yourself when you are told by a professional to get on your back?! Some of the ladies I?d seen before at other things (luckily, DH?s ex wasn?t there) and a couple of them are going to be doing the NCT classes with me too which is nice. A few of us swooped numbers ? new buddies

My dress has arrived for the christening on Sunday I don?t look the vision of elegance I was hoping to be but I do like it but why oh why do things have to be so low cut ? Now I have to go and hunt for some kind of camisole at lunch and it will show lines on the back of the dress this is the dress I got, though once worn and for ½ price on eBay www.isabellaoliver.com/io/Shop?DSP=30100&PCR=2:100:1020&IID=DR60 mine?s in Indigo.

I?ll now attempt to catch up with you all???.

Amani · 09/11/2007 12:34

Mrs McJnr - good to hear you had a chance to talk about the important aspects of labour and also meeting new people. Your dress is lovely by the way! .

Spoke to doc today to say all results were fine, just to keep taking medication to clear up UTI infection. Thank goodness for that..!

Beller - having another look at slings on ebay. Did you purchase the one from Bright Sparks in the end?

mixedmama · 09/11/2007 12:37

amani - i just dont really know. i just cant understand why he wont go.

mixedmama · 09/11/2007 12:39

MrsMcjnr - that is a lovely dress... something like i would buy. you will look lovely.

LuckySalem · 09/11/2007 12:41

Hi everyone,

Feeling better today. Am pretty sure I get SMP now and am going to demand it when we pop to jobcentre tomorrow.
Have just sent a letter of appeal to work (nervous about the meeting as it would have to be with the next person up and he is a scary b***d) will be taking a union rep with me.
Watching who's line is it anyway and waiting for Bones tonight!! NEW SERIES WOOHOO!!

Sorry I haven't been able to read all the posts, just skimed through. Thanks to all who helped.

And I too have been getting painful pelvic times but not constantly, must be partly cos of the way I'm sitting, lying etc.

Me and DP have decided I can be SAHM (apart from working maybe a couple of days a week so we have spare spending fun money) so I am going to learn how to cook and be a cleaning goddess!! :-)

Will have to try and persuade him that I need massages now!! haha

Amani · 09/11/2007 12:43

All the best with your appeal luckysalem - let us know how it goes.
MM - gosh don't know what to say other than good luck with it all and I hope you and your family will be ok with BIL.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 09/11/2007 12:47

LuckySalem - pleased you seem positive this morning. I think they made a big mistake picking on a pregnant woman, I reckon they are going to be kicking themsleves. Congrats on the SAHM decision.

gingeme · 09/11/2007 12:47

Afternoon ladies. Yes beller the little fellas been moving loads this morning
Lovely dress mrsmcjnr
Awen boys are so cuddly anyway at any age. My nephews, age 18 and 20 and both over 6 foot tall always give me great big cuddles when I see them. My boys all love there cuddles too.
madmouse are you ok after your fall?
mixedmamma has peace been assumed yet? Can be very stressful especialy if your not sleeping too well either. Things have been short here too for a while between dh and I. Lack of sleep, ever growing bump and him being sore after his op plus poorly dc none of which help.
Well I hope things are brighter over the weekend. Were going out for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday. Have a good weekend all xx

mixedmama · 09/11/2007 12:51

Have to say Gingeme we werent actually arguing, he was for the first time ever actually acknowledging my concerns, so we are at peace but still really upset about it all.

I am going to meet a friend for lunch to have a real life rant so will hopefully be in a better mood and not highjack with my moodiness.

Thx ladies.

susiemj · 09/11/2007 13:10

Afternoon all!

Ayreshire - that's very inspiring about the retraining. It's made me feel optimisitc about my translation plans. I'm trying to brush up my Spanish at the moment as it's not up to scratch. The friend who owns a company is breathing down my neck about taking on work - which is good - but tbh I couldn't be less focused on learning at the moment. Can't even remember whta I do know half the time. Anyone else ONLY interested in baby things and TV? Tiredness I think..

Awen - As you can tell I'm with you on the tired thing.

Naetha - that's exciting about the decorating. Hope the blood pressure goes down. Good luck with shopping this weekend!

Madmouse - Hope DH's cough - and your sleep - is better.

Mrs Biscuit - Well done for midwife visit

Hello Neuro and Amani!

LuckySalem, it's been said before but I'm sure there are laws about this sort of thing! It's a disgrace. I'm sure you can fight especially your work. Good luck with it.

Angechica - I'm pretty disappointed with my antnatal classes too. I can get a lot of the information they give through books. I wanted help with things like breathing but they say they don't do it because people feel silly. Silly people!

Gingeme - for DH. Hope he's feeling better.

Beller - well done for going to the swimming pool. DH has hinted for me but even though I love swimming I really can't see myself doing it. Probably be good for back pain though? 12 days to go - 11 now! Fab.

Mixedmama - that sucks. really sorry about row and awful BIL. Time for some strategic weepy pregnant woman behaviour?

MrsMc - love the dress. I'm sure you look smashing. Classes sound good. Don;t worry about feeling you don't know stuff. I've been to most of my antenatal calsses now and I'm sure when the time comes I'll forget everything and be desperately wondering what to do.

Awen - sorry for swelling. Baths sound good.

We've had a day of deliveries - cotbed/ sofa/ kiddicare bulkbuy and our house is now looking very small! I can't help wishing for an extra foot of width in our living room. It'll be cotbed building tonight!

I don't know about the always / stitches thing - just passing on what I was told. In my limited experience every midwife tells you something different about all aspects of pregnancy. My new midwife wouldn't put my SPD on my notes because she said it was not important enough. My other MW sent me to physiotherapy etc...

Bub seems to be doing somersaults trying to get comfy. I think she's trying to get her head down but doesn't like it when she gets there. Midwife is coming over for check up soon.. fingers crossed.

See you later!

susiemj · 09/11/2007 13:14

O! Sorry about fall madmouse - hope knee is better.

Forgot to say - we bought pram yesterday - a Hauck Infinity in chocolate brown and cream (something of a preoccupation here?). I wasn;t sure about it but woman in the shop owns one and she should know - DH really liked it too. I liked the heavier ones, but they both assured me that I'd really like the lightness of the Hauck when I've been pushing it a while.

Anyone heard the superstition about not putting the pram wheels in the house until the baby's born?

LuckySalem · 09/11/2007 13:18

Yeh I've heard of that one. Mine is at my nain's house at the moment and although we'll go to set it up at hers, it's not coming here till baby arrives (no matter how stupid it seems)

sabinar · 09/11/2007 13:20

hello everyone,

so, my pressing question for the day is that, if you get to sleep into 10am (yay!) what is the earliest time you can reasonably go have an afternoon nap?

I'm completely stuffed after spending most of this week at a conference that turned out to be a lot of hard work... got off the plane in time to go straight to our second NCT antenatal class (which was great).

Fortunately my calendar is looking rather quiet next week which I'd usually be panicking about, but which I'm actually really happy about! I might even be able to squeeze a haircut in for the first time since... eh, I can't even remember.

I won't even pretend to be able to have caught up with all your chatter this week but hope you're all feeling well.

I'm starting to feel as though we should have more baby stuff organised than we do now, so perhaps I'll try to do some more of that next week as well.

Meanwhile, I think I'll do a few more things and then see about that afternoon nap ;)

beller · 09/11/2007 13:21

Mrsmcjnr - Love the dress! Does it not matter how you "wrap" it...still comes down low? Hope you find a camisole

Amani - havnt bought it yet, but that was still the one i was thinking of..but havnt "tried" any..so not sure?

Mixedmamma- Cant imagine living with someon i really didnt like/get on with....hope you ind a solution?! xx

Luckysalem - good luck with the metting....if the guy gets really scary....just think he shites just like the rest of us!

Susiemj - I asked the midwife if they got dizzy when head down seems an awful long time to be upside down ! xx

AngelKG77 · 09/11/2007 13:26

Hello ladies!!! Must admit I've been lurking for a week or two you all seem lovely...just thought I should introduce myself & say hi. I'm due Jan. 21 with DD #1 and am over the moon about it!!! (Other than the aches and pains and 3 trips per night to the loo... ) DH and I just moved over to Glasgow in late September from NYC - (I'm American, he's Scottish...our poor confused children-to-be...Mommy/Mummy..the debate continues...) Anyway, hope you're all having a happy Friday!!!

susiemj · 09/11/2007 13:34

Hello Angel K! Welcome.

BTW MrsMc - I've got a black maternity camisole (well, it looks a bit like a vest TBH) in M+S maternity. It's only £8 and it's very soft. I'm addicted to mine.

LuckySalem · 09/11/2007 13:35

Welcome Angel K!! - Congrats!!
