Hi Gingeme - You've reminded me of something I've been meaning to post on here which I was told at my antenatal class - which is that 'always' aren't ideal for after the birth. Apparently if you have stitches, the chemical in the always reacts with the stitches meaning that they dissolve too soon. Sorry if this spoils your packing but it might be worth checking this with your midwife?

beller · 08/11/2007 08:33

Morning everyone!

Mixedmamma and Jenwish - good luck for you career changes!! xx
Jenwish - I was up in North Wales a couple of weeks ago..my nan/aunt etc live not far from you in Gresford! Will have to pop in and say Hi next time im up! Cant believe they have fired you!!!! Definately get to the citizen advice...they are are VERY thin ice i think? Good luck xx

Amani -Hope you feel better! How long will you have to wait until results? xx

Susiemj - Im tried too..getting up at 5.40 is really beginning to take its toll now..I slept from 3.30 - 5 yest on my day off...lush! xx

Nicky6 - Rest up when you can....eek to possible finishing in the middle of jan! x

Bettymamma - A move for 2 weeks seems pointless? Make sure they move the stuff and you just move yourself xx

Lulubump - on the pregnancy section the other day people were talking about co-codomol,and that plenty of them had taken it. I do know you can get hooked on Codeine, but i think you have to take more than a couple each day for that to happen?

Madmouse - Deep breaths xx

Fluffymummy - Yay for good hospital visit! xx

Mrmcjnr - Yes the B12 injection really hurts, but getting used to it now..have had them evry 8 weeks for 3 years Havnt got the chair yet? Willdo at some point though, I was too lazy yesturday! Ante natal class was good..some really nice people there, and had quite a laugh.

Neuro - I LOVE Soprano's....Have wathced them all....was final series last week... .

Ayreshirlolo - haha to weird dream with the fish!! Mine are still up there, but have got used to them too now.

Gingme - Hope DS is feelibg better today ? xx

HAd midwife appt yest too...went well...she said she could feel the baby easily...still head down..with its back over to my rhs, so it is babybels bum under my ribs! Oh well s/he must be comfy! HAd glucose in my urine again..but the prick test thingy came up at 4.1..so thats ok, but she did tell me to try and cut down on sugary things...only have a small bit of chocolate a day . Babybels HB was 152ish..and BP was fine. 33weeks tomorrow!!! Eeeek, next time I go she will book in an appt to come round to the house with the bag of tricks!.....All seems very real now!
Hope everyone is feeling ok outside infections and tiredness...Must admit when the AN teacher was showing us th epics last ngiht of our bodies at 35 weeks pregnant, no wonder we have so many niggles....our stomachs are somewhere behind out breast bone, and the babys whole weight alonside the placenta/fluid etc is on top od the bladder!
Waves to everyone xxxxxxxxxx

Amani · 08/11/2007 08:45

Morning all!
Just popping into say 'hello' on my first full day of resting recommended by the docs.

Beller - been told to call today for results, so will buzz this afternoon. Love your Mrs McJnr style catch up! How hard is it going to be to cut down on the sweet food? Got to admit I've started on the mince pies - had 3 yesterday!

Ginge - Hope DS gets well soon.

Can anyone remember when it is ok to use wipes on newborns?

OP posts:
beller · 08/11/2007 09:07

oops was a bit long
Fingers crossed for the reuslts!xx

mixedmama · 08/11/2007 09:15

Morning all,

Beller - glad you had a good day off.

Amani - I took cotton wool to the hospital and the MW asked me why I didnt bring wipes, so I guess it is ok from the beginning, just depends on how you feel about it.

Gingeme - sorry DS is ill. My DS seems to be on the mend now, just a cough. Must be something going round.

Re; meet up
I have just realised that i cant make 19 Nov as I am on the late shift at work so wont finish till 7.00, but can still make 29 Nov.

Hey to everyone else.

Naetha · 08/11/2007 09:36

Morning all, sorry I haven't been in touch for so long - been madly busy at work and knackered at home!

Can't believe I'm nearly 33 weeks already, everything's moving so fast. We're still in the stages of trying to do up the spare room / nursery, but we've got a set timetable to finish it (have it decorated by 2nd December) and my mum's coming up to help hang wallpaper and do the finishing. My stepdad is coming to fit the kitchen on Sunday as well - he'll be here for 2 weeks which will be a bit odd to be honest (me and DH don't like sharing our house with anyone lol!) but it will be nice to have a functioning kitchen at the end of it

Had a MW appointment yesterday which flagged up high blood pressure which is a little worrying - I'm going back in a week to be tested again, and hopefully it will have come down, otherwise I may have to be induced early. My vitamin b12 levels came back as within normal range, but only just - it should be between 200 and 600, and it was 212, so they're going to keep an eye on it over the next few months.

Also started my baby shopping in earnest - Sainsbury's have got most baby stuff on half price at the moment (baby shampoos, baby wipes, sudacrem etc) so I've made a bulk buy - they've also got Felix posh catfood half price so we've bought £50 worth of that as well!

Other than that, the only thing I've bought is a Mei Tai sling, which is yet to arrive from the US. ALso thinking of getting a coorie sling, but undecided as yet! Still waiting on some good offers to get the Quinny Buzz, otherwise we'll get it straight after the birth.

How is everyone else's preparation going? I still need to get my hospital bag ready lol!

beller · 08/11/2007 10:20

mixedmamma- if its easy for everyone to make the 29h, i dont mind stepping out of this meet, as Novemeber is really busy for me with changing over of clinets..so dont seem to have any "nights in" at mom...?

NAetha - Well done with the shopping!! I still havnt packed an emergency bag either....must sort it out to be fair...as if i go into labour before 37 weeks, i would have to go to hospital anyway! Apart from that, im good to go x

madmouse · 08/11/2007 10:23

Morning all

Another bad night. Dh still coughing. I asked him to take some more cough medicine, he said he was too tired!! Poor thing, but me too. So off he went. But since falling pregnant I can be wide awake for hours in the middle of the night so it took forever to get back to sleep.

Ayreshirelolo, you may be last but only just, I am due the 30th.

As far as shopping is concerned I still need a pushchair (Phil and Teds, hoping for sales) and a changing mat. Everything else has been bought or borrowed. Oh, and a bigger fleece. I am wearing my old size 14 when cycling but the seams make alarming sounds when I do up the zip .

Amani keep up the easy stuff.

Naetha sounds like you need to join Amani on the sofa, watch that blood pressure

Hello to everyone else!!

mixedmama · 08/11/2007 10:55

Madmouse.... well done for still cycling.

MrsBiscuit · 08/11/2007 10:57

Hello

MW appt this morning which meant a lie-in so feeling much more refreshed. Lots of dreams last night, including one where I won Americas Next Top Model .

Everything fine at MW: baby has its head pointing downwards, heartbeat fine and no probs with protein/sugar. I'm going to celebrate with a kitkat.

Amani, hope you feel better today.

Gingeme, Naetha, madmouse - you're making me feel very slow with my shopping. I'm doing it in dribs and drabs and still only have the car seat/travel system, cot and a night light. . I have lots of lists though .

Beller - I was astonished by the AN pictures of our squashed lungs, stomach and bladder. No wonder I'm breathless, full of burps and constantly peeing .

Luckysalem - at your work. What a nightmare. Hope you're okay.

madmouse · 08/11/2007 11:07

MrsB enjoy your kitkat, glad your mw appt went so well. Sounds like you and baby are getting ready for D-Day!(is that or ?)

gingeme · 08/11/2007 11:09

Morning ladies.
Neatha why have you bought your baby cat food?
ds seems much better today. Just his rotten cough hanging on
susuiemj I have always used always and they seem to have had no affect on my stitches. I tried using maternity towels with my last ds but they didnt seem nearly as absorbant.
Not alot doing today. Have a good day all xx

MrsBiscuit · 08/11/2007 11:14

Just had a juicy chocolate muffin, instead of the kitkat. We have a lovely lady who comes round with a trolley full of goodies each morning, and it's sooo hard to resist .

DH took a photo of me and the bump this morning. I am officially a heffalump , but for once, I really don't care

Gingeme - glad ds is feeling better x

Neuro · 08/11/2007 12:08

Hello hello

Def count me in for the 29th MixedMama - aww shame Beller can't come. Where will she be?! Beller? Re arrange your plans please!

I am glued to my tv/dvd watching Sopranos Season 2. It's go briilliant.

And i've finished off Heroes Season 1. I cried! No, i sobbed, i was so moved. What a big wuss. I hardly ever cry and now i just cry over tv prorammes. The telly is my friend though!

I"m doing my hosp bag this weekend, so anyone got any shopping tips? Any good offers on anywhere for gigantic hideious sanitary towels with wings and legs...etc etc

xxxx

mixedmama · 08/11/2007 12:17

99p for 10 in superdrug....

naetha posted about half price stuff at sainsburys.

beller is at Take That I believe

fluffymummy · 08/11/2007 12:27

Lots of people made me buy really large bulky old-fashioned pads last time and I found them really uncomfortable (and quite unabsorbent as well...)

Must admit that the ones I most liked were the Always heavy flow night time pads (which had sticky strips but no wings, I think)...although I've just seen Susiemj's note, so now not too sure what to think!!

Must say, I had a huuuuuge number of stitches and the pads didn't make any difference...so maybe that's worth investigating a bit further? Guess it could just be a bit of an 'antenatal myth'? Maybe?

Breast pads are great - the disposable ones - I always bought the really cheap ones from Boots and M/care but a friend gave me her Johnsons ones and they were sooooo much nicer - so maybe worth the extra pennies there

Still not got as far as thinking about hospital bags and stuff for baby...still trying to get the builders to finish up so we can get ds1 out of the nursery, but really want to focus on getting his new room right even though we are going to have to do a bit of nursery redecoration as well....

madmouse · 08/11/2007 12:28

Neuro

£1 for 10 in Boots. No legs though. Maybe feathers, or would that tickle to much? Sorry, gingeme put me in a silly mood with the cat food question .

gingeme · 08/11/2007 12:34

He he thats good to hear madmouse

mixedmama · 08/11/2007 12:34

fluffy - do they do turkish tea at the end of the meal... if so i can be persuaded... haha

i didnt mind the mat towels and had to wear two... but i think this time i will switch to always quite soon after.

fluffymummy · 08/11/2007 12:40

Bump doing strange wiggly things today...not sure how much it likes the budget forecasting stuff. Actually feeling a bit sick...might have caught DH's bug but I really hope now.

MM - not sure about the tea, but probably..we were going to go to Mem and Laz but I haven't made a reservation yet...check out www.memlaz.com/

Ugh, another stressy nanny-less day. MIL is looking after DS but she also has icky tummy bug virus thing...so he's been passed from her to my mum and back again the last few days and been watching far too much CBeebies as a result. Oh, and he's got a stinking cold so is quite out of sorts anyway....so today (now, in fact!), I'm going to spend my lunch break driving to MILs to give DS his lunch and put him to bed (he refused to go for MIL yesterday and then went into meltdown at my mums at 5pm cos he was so overtired ....great. Oh the joys and guilt of being a working mum...

mixedmama · 08/11/2007 12:44

I had a look at them the other day and they are Turks so the tea can swing it.

mixedmama · 08/11/2007 12:44
Wink
Naetha · 08/11/2007 13:16

The Johnson's breast pads are also on half price in Sainsbury's at the moment (no I'm not on commission - honest!) so I bought a pack, but I'm also going to get some Lily Padz, as they look really good. www.bloomingmarvellous.co.uk/product.aspx?CategoryID=bf-essentials&ProductID=81572&language=en-GB

Btw, this seems a bit odd, but my boobs have been leaking loads recently, but last night there was some blood coming out as well. Is this normal?
