Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bettymamma · 07/11/2007 13:51

lulubump - just spoke to professor type here and they said cocodamol has codeine in it -here's their email:

Paracetamol is not known to be harmful when used during pregnancy. However, the safety of codeine has not been established. If codeine is used in the third trimester it may cause withdrawal symptoms in the baby after birth. As a result, this medicine should be used with caution during pregnancy, and only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs any potential risk to the infant.

I'd prob try to get a 2nd opinion from another gp. Bloomin gps!

Jenswish · 07/11/2007 13:54

MW at the hospital said you can have co-codamol! (2nd opinion for you)

mixedmama · 07/11/2007 13:56

Beller has Wednesdays off now until Mat leave.

Jenwish - glad you are planning to seek advice. Absolutely disgusting. At my last place we had a woman who was constantly off work and done f all when she was there and I think they sort of forced her into taking redundancy or soemthing.... every allegation they made was true but she sued them and she won. have you got all the transcripts and everything. Also you could try posting in employment on here (if you feel like actually posting details) as there are loads of people who know what they are talking about. for you.

LilyLoo · 07/11/2007 13:58

Jenswish repiled on your other thread

LuckySalem · 07/11/2007 15:34

It's still me "Jenswish" but I'm not wishing anymore so I thought I'd change the name

fluffymummy · 07/11/2007 15:43

good afternoon all! far too much has been happening today for me to do a proper catch up, but:

for all the ladies who aren't feeling too good...esp those with infections...big 'get well hugs' at all of you!

for jenswish, but try to stay chilled hun - you sound like you're doing the most amazing job of dealing with all this beep beep beep job stuff so far

I've just got back from the hospital, from my 28 week (I'm 29 already but they miscounted!) MW checkup. Quite amused by the 'shared care' thing falling down a bit - they were surprised I had come in so close to seeing GP for my regular check, but I pointed out that when they made the appt at 15 weeks they didn't say 'oh, and you don't need to do both if they overlap'! Anyway, I needed to have the blood tests done and my GP practise doesn't do those anymore

Actually, I just need to share how happy I am about my choice of hospital ! Last time I gave birth at the Royal Free (NW London) and had a terrible experience, both with regard to ante-natal care (they were just too busy/stressed to deal with people nicely) and during the labour itself (truly awful!!!!!).

So this time I'm going to University College Hospital - DH wanted to go private until we realised quite how stupidly expensive that was!!...feel I've really been proven right today: I turned up on time, but on the wrong day, for my MW appointment. Based on my Royal Free experiences I had lunch, a litre of water and a thick book, expecting at least a 2 hour wait. Instead of which they really nicely saw me anyway, despite me getting my dates wrong...within 5 minutes of my arriving!!! I just couldn't believe it!!! And they were so so so so nice . Hurrah!!!

OK, that was a million times longer than I meant to ramble on, but I'm now back in the office and no-one here would be very excited about that so I had to share it with you lovely ladies!!

Love to all, Fluffy xxxx

PS My sister is a doctor finishing up her GP track stuff at the moment and tells me that they regularly prescrible co-codamol to pregnant patients in A&E etc...so probably ok to take a few in moderation. She says not 8 a day if possible as the codeine tends to leave you constipared...

LuckySalem · 07/11/2007 15:46

Wow!! Fluffy - Mega catch up!

I'm impressed by your hospital, I never get that treatment. (was at docs for an hour the other day haha)

MrsMcJnr · 07/11/2007 15:56

Attempting to catch up now

Hey Madmouse I was reading about those mats for under the sheets in case your waters break ? saw them in the NCT catalogue may have to get one. Re bras, I was a 32E and am now 36G and I always buy all my bras from Bravissimo (they are online too) I have 2 very comfy Royce sleep bras from there at the mo and I am going to get measured for nursing bras at 33 weeks which is probably too early but the shop that I want to get measured at is in a different city from the one I usually work in) Glad all went well at the MW this week at my appointment my blood pressure was much lower it has been really high.

Tripletsandtwins ? that?s wonderful news I am so, so pleased what?s this about being in your 20s? My DH isn?t into poker or gambling ? he?s a Scotsman after all!

Nicky6 hello thanks for your compliments on my posts really hope the murder trial doesn?t run on!! Hope you managed to escape from the conference to see your brothers my DH?s English team is Man Utd. Did you enjoy the fireworks? I love them too how was the AN class?

Susiemj ? take it easy hon! I find full rolls such an effort! hope you are feeling better after the tummy bug.

Hey Jenswish/Luckysalem ? how awful about work! Are you ok? That?s worrying about your DP not being allowed to stay with you if it?s a night birth I know my DH is not able to sleep on the ward like they can at some hospitals but I think he can stay as long as he wants and that visiting hours don?t apply to him ? must check that though will try your sex predictor at home sorry the GP was mean (most of them are in my experience!) a course in January sounds VERY optimistic hon!

Awen ? (and clllleeeeeeecnnnnchhhhhhhh! Keep forgetting! ) Re bras all my day bras are wired (as I said above, I?m a 36G at the mo, 32E pre pg) and I have been assured that if they fit properly ? i.e. the wires don?t dig into the soft bits but rest on the bone then there is no risk of damaging milk ducts or getting mastitis. Do you think it is varicose veins ?down below? that are making you ache? I?m getting swelling in my face and fingers and often wake up with pins and needles in my fingers ? ankles and feet seem ok though. Glad all was well at the MW, it hurts when they are rough doesn?t it, mine was rough this time!

Sabinar ? thanks for your post on my slings thread ? I shall check those out your job sounds interesting thanks also for your advice on the NCT. I decided to book into those too they are at my local hospital so I expect that there will be local ladies there, the cost was £120 so not as bad as I expected so we decided to totally go over the top and go to all the classes the active birth one is after the NCT ones end so it?ll be a good focus on the birth itself I guess (bet I end up with an emergency section under a general now!) One of my pals on the TTC Graduate thread has just had her baby boy at home ? she had a great experience you sound very chirpy! I?m impressed that you are still flying; I?ve refused to fly any more!

Amani ? sounds like you are nesting sorry to hear your DH got sent away after the last birth ? just when you wanted him around too hope the bad tummy is better. I am finding that my baby kicks to the inside more than the out at the moment. Sorry to hear about the infection

Ayreshirelolo the M8 is so much fun isn?t it!? we must have crossed as we would have been going the other way! Your Sat night sounded exhausting! I had a tiring but excellent weekend with my sisters and two nephews

Fruitful so pleased to hear that you are now home!! Take it easy now!

Lilyloo LOL at your birth prep I am so tempted to try a homebirth hearing all you say but I think with my blood issues I should just accept that the hospital is the safest place for me and Beanie

Hey Gingeme how is DH after the op? hope you had a lovely birthday and some nice pressies! I must get my stuff on to eBay too we have lots of furniture in anticipation of the Spain move. Good luck with your sales and the purchases! I have been really successful lately got loads of things at good prices!

Lots of you are getting lots of rib action my beanie is nowhere near my ribs ? or not that I can feel ? it is currently head down, body to left but it does change to centre and to the right but no other positions really.

Neuro hope you are still taking it easy. Lovely to distinguish body parts, I can?t yet!

Hey Fluffy the party sounded great we had similar here ?DNephew1 (4) loved the noise and the colours but DN2 (18 months) cried throughout! Hope everyone in your house is better and that the leg/hip is better. I feel I am slowing down I have to say, the 45min walk to and from the MW was quite an effort on Monday. Sounds like you?ve got a mad week, take it easy!

Mixedmama ? hope your DS is feeling better now

Beller used to like Dragon?s Den but kind of went off it a bit! I think the dragons are a bit sarky sometimes! How was your day off? Was the injection sore? Nathan sits on the couch with me too, much more comfy! Did you get a chair? I still really want one but DSIL has forgotten she wanted to buy us something I think how was the AN class?

MrsBiscuit my DH would never let me watch those programmes when he?s in the house! I can understand why you are P?d off, you want the support at your first AN class at least

Lulubump ? ball does sound a bit low ? I?m 5ft6 and I think mine is just a standard one but I think my bum is higher than my hips on it. My weight is rocketing now too that?s 19 ½ pounds now. MW told me on Monday that 20 pounds was the average but I wasn?t sure if she meant up to this stage or overall! Sorry you had such a bad night, are you feeling better?

Hello KatyT

Hey Bettymamma ? thanks for missing me! You are the only one who did Hope your DD is better now. LOL about the Spooks virus, not nice! There is no way that I am telling my DH that you can drive with contractions!!! I hate driving and am already trying to convince DH that I am too pregnant to drive!

LuckySalem · 07/11/2007 16:05

Wow MrsMc!! You're good at these aren't you..
We all missed you!

susiemj · 07/11/2007 16:07

Hi Lucky - very for you. Seems like a bit of a coincidence that they give you the push just before maternity leave to me. Well done for your attitude - you go get 'em.

Fluffy - glad you're getting good care now. I'm a big fan of the NHS but whenever they get something wromg it is always about communication between departments and paperwork!

Amani - hope you enjoyed your sleep

Bettymama - got you, got you. Pain in the bum about your desk. They could've waited!

Lulu - I'm sure fluffy's right but when I had to take cocodamol it totally knocked me out so you might prefer paracetamol anyway I think. i know cocodamol is related to the opiate family - it made me so dreamy. Might be really good occasionally if you continue to have trouble with sleep. Wishing you a good night's sleep tonight.

Hello to Awen, Nicky, Lilyloo and MrsMc!

mixedmama · 07/11/2007 16:07

fluffy - I had DS at UCH and was only round the corner to Royal Free. All in all it was a good experience.

Bettymamma · 07/11/2007 16:11

Good to have you back MrsMcJnr - missed you

ps - i've put on 20 pounds - i thought that was quite average by this stage - well i was hoping it was.

I wasn't meaning to scare anyone about co-codamol. Just reported back what the professor here at Imperial College said.

Fluffymummy - your hospital sounds brilliant. Very reassuring for you.

mixedmama · 07/11/2007 16:13

I missed you MrsMcJnr....

Neuro · 07/11/2007 16:14

Hi you lot!
I am glued to Seasons 1 and 2 Sopranos at the moment..hence my absence! And i've been busy trying to go through all banking stuff and biills as i'm moving out of my flat in just over a month. Phew there is so much to do. Havne't even done any hospital bags... got lists of what to buy though! Mmmmmm I sound like someone on here!
I'm off to Devon this weekend with a car full of stuff so i can break my move into two goes.
Keep having lots of dreams about labour and when a pink gooey thing is placed on my chest. BRING IT ON!
It's really not that far now is it?
Can't wait to log in here and watch everyone popping off - and read the post natal messages.
Mixedmama and other London ladies, i'll be up in town from 24/25th Nov til about the 5th so look forward to meeting up.
Must go, Tony Soprano's just strangling someone...
xxxxx

mixedmama · 07/11/2007 16:18

MrsMcJnr · 07/11/2007 16:37

Thanks ladies

madmouse · 07/11/2007 16:39

Missed you too MrsMcJnr

Don't spend too much on those mats. Boots own brand only cost a few quid.In the tasteful operation-theatre-green packaging that all their maternity stuff comes in

fluffymummy · 07/11/2007 16:42

Hey MM - there's an outside chance I could attend 2, but even though my Livingstone trip was cancelled I now have a new trip to Glasgow in my diary for 26/27th , so it might depend a bit on energy levels by the end of the week!!

MrsMc - we all missed you...don't you dare go all on us!

MM - thanks for reassurance on UCH...if I'd known you and Bettymama were around there I'd have tried to meet up for a coffee today...maybe next time...I'm back in on the 13th Dec! Where are you have the next one?

xx

fluffymummy · 07/11/2007 16:43

Oops...forgot to wave frantically at Neuro!!!!

Amani · 07/11/2007 17:51

Wow Mrs McJnr - well done on the catch up!
Neuro - all the best with your move
Thanks Susie - feeling really refreshed after nap
LuckySalam - nice name change but i still think of you as Jenwish

Really proud of DD this afternoon she went all the way upstairs and downstairs by herself Should make life easier afer LO is born as I don't need to worry about folloiwng her on the stairs.

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 07/11/2007 17:55

It's my cats names!! Haha, feel free to know me as Jenswish but I didn't want to be wishing anymore so thought I'd add the cats names instead. hahaha

katyt1 · 07/11/2007 19:26

that would make me borisbarney (or barneyboris, hmm).
bad news re work, stay calm and stick it to em!

i might be able to make the 29th....have to check with dh, see whether he's up for babysitting.

mrsmc - def missed your posts, the only way i can keep up with everyone!

ds in bed......first time...will check in a min, insisted on taking milk to bed first time for that too, so will expect milk all over the place in about 5 mins...

ayrshirelolo · 07/11/2007 20:19

Hello ladies!
Awesome catch up post as ever MrsMcJ... and fluffy is right, we all missed you!
Jen/Luckysalem what a total &$*£?# about the job, i can only echo what everyone else has said, a HR person told me last time i was up the duff that "when you're pregnant you're fireproof..." so go get em gal! Think you might be a bit optimistic with the timing, but i'm all for career changes, i went back to uni at 32, my dh went for the first time at 40 and my sis has just finished another career change at 39... it's never too late and totally worth it, i LOVE my job even though i moan about it!
Lulu, hope you feel better soon! As Susi says, cocodamol is an opiate, which is why you might have withdrawal probs etc if you took them constantly in the 3rd trimester but if you need one to get to sleep don't stress, bump will be fine! (so says the addiction / drug specialist team i have access to at work) I had some prescribed after dd's birth though, and dh described them as my "stupid tablets" coz i did find myself being a dozy mare when i'd taken one...
Amani, hope you're better soon, and i'm about the stairs thing.. dd can go up no problem but still has no real concept of going down in any kind of safe fashion, launching herself off top step isn't really a properly thought out strategy!. Oh well, we'll keep working on it!
Sorry this is a bit of an epic, hope you/we all get a good night's sleep (ha ha!!) i had a bizarre dream about a giant fish last night... what the f## did THAT mean????
take care people... i'm due last i think (31st Jan) and even i'm 28 weeks tomorrow... defo last trimester now! Isn't it exciting?!?
lolo xx

MamaMaiasaura · 07/11/2007 21:11

MrsMcJnr - we all missed you LOTS!! Amazing catch up therebtw
Amsame bra size as you atm. Am trying to get hold of ANita underwired nursing bra in H cup. Think the pain is bony (pelvic)had similar with ds and ended up in a corset thing. Isnt too bad atm.

Am knackered so being crap at posting on here. Sounds like we are all hitting a tired stage. xx

gingeme · 07/11/2007 22:00

Evening ladies. Had a busy day with ds3. His cough is so much worse bless him. Just has worn him out. Put him to bed as usual at 7.15. He woke at 8 after being sick in his bed which was in his hair and all over his bed. Dh gave him a quick shower while I changed his bed. Hes fast asleep now and alot cooler. Just hope the rest of the night is ok.
Just out of curiosity what have you all got so far in way of stuff for after baby? I had a count up today. I have 4 packs of cotton wool pleast, 4 packs of Tesco first born nappies, 6 packs of Always night time sani towels. 3 boxes of Tesco breast pads. Getting there now.
Re meet up mixedmamma will let you know about the 19th as Dh is getting his sick note from his doc tommorrow and hes going to see if he can wangle another week off
