mixedmama · 06/11/2007 15:31

AWEN - I just read your thread about the monkey. Made me cry. So sweet. Definitely the right decision.

madmouse · 06/11/2007 15:31

So how many of you are off on maternity leave after 30 November like me? There must be quite a few of us? Am I the earliest to go at 31 weeks? I am so lucky I can take a year out, no mortgage to pay (sorry, not meant as a boast). Admiration for those soldiering on. My secretary is due about 10 days after me and plans to work until 38 weeks . I could never drag my sorry *ss in for so long!

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 15:33

35 weeks is enough for me. Thoroughly had enough.

madmouse · 06/11/2007 15:38

MixedMama you sound thoroughly fed up. You have an awful lot on your plate and work does not seem terribly supportive. I can imagine you are counting the days.

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 15:42

I think it is also to do with the mind numbing nature of the job and the fact I am only temping here, so I dont really have much to be motivated for work wise IYSWIM.

Bettymamma · 06/11/2007 15:43

What story about the monkey, where where??

MM - will you be ok not handing the MATB1 form with the other stuff. I got a right telling off for giving it in at 30 weeks from my hr lady??

Madmouse - I'm also off the week starting 26th Nov. Will be 35wks like Mixedmama. Am 32wks now and have seriously had enough. Not just the tiredness but the CONTINUOUS comments on how large I am - yawn. Like they've never seen a pregnant woman before. Well some of them probably haven't actually. Social delinquents - meooow! I hope you leave your secretary with 10 days of doing nothing! I don't think you're the earliest - am sure there are a couple already on leave i think.

ps - where is MrsMcJ these days. And Amani - is she on the dec thread. I mean to go on there now and then and then forget. I guess being due on new yrs eve puts me on the cusp!

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:02

Ahh Bettymama due date buddy.

Amani was on this morning. Will text her and find out where she is.

I am temping so applying for maternity allowance which is liek benefits from job centre. Yeah, they will prob write to me and tell me I forgot to send it then i will have to send it etc etc.

Awen posted a thread in Parenting called "rod for my own back2 or something similar.

madmouse · 06/11/2007 16:07

Bettymama - my secretary will need to support my replacement until she goes off herself. I never give her much work (I can type twice as fast as I can dictate) so I hope he is the same. She will enjoy mothering him anyway. We have a new area manager and she is already calling her sweetie and feeding her lunch. Irrepressible woman, I am going to miss her.We are planning a meet-up as soon as the babies are born. Hers brown mine pink, will make a lovely picture .

Bettymamma · 06/11/2007 16:14

Oh just been reading through our thread over past week.

Drinking curfew for dp's/dh's when you are due. This is quite bad - but I did discover you can drive in between contractions if your dh has had a bit to drink. I wouldn't recommend it - and it does mean pulling over when they occur. But it is possible. DH has NEVER been allowed to forget that though...

beller · 06/11/2007 16:15

Awen - Glad your midwife appt went well xx

Madmouse - im off from 30th Nov too, ill be 36 weeks..and 1st week of Dec is holiday, then mat leave!

I am just back from lunch....hehehe got my own back..although I have eaten sooooo much i feel HUGE. Went to Rhodes 24 (gary rhodes rest) and the food was delicious....just need to get home and on the sofa now!
Im off tom, so will speak thus xxxxxxxxx

Bettymamma · 06/11/2007 16:16

oh tell us what you ate Beller - tell us tell us!

fluffymummy · 06/11/2007 16:20

Ooh so of all of you...and seriously rethinking my current plan, which is to work right up to 39.5 weeks.

Is that foolish? Not sure.

Will I regret not having some time off before grape arrives? Most certainly

But....

Will I be climbing the walls with boredom if grape does the same as its older brother and declines to make an appearance until forced to do so at 42 weeks? Most definitely !!

Aaargh, what to do? What to do?

beller · 06/11/2007 16:24

Beetymamma - i had...pea soup with poached egg (naughty i know)and bacon toast, then rib eye beef with guiness cottage pie (sounds weird but was lush), then wam chocolate pudding.....(beller explodes)...
was soooooo yummy!

Fluffymummy - I was thinking the same..would I be bored..but getting up at 5.30 and travelling is becomming harder..so have no choice really? My sister dosnt work and my dad is round the corner..so hoping to have some play mates ..that and get taping some films for sky+ ! xx

Jenswish · 06/11/2007 16:29

Fluffy - You probably will be climbing the walls with boredom if the baby is late, BUT what if the baby is early?

I'm off from now till baby due and I'm bored already (but better than being stressed at work) I've got plenty that needs doing but not much I can do myself.

We need to decorate the nursery (will it be safe for me to wallpaper cos that will pass a day or 2.

Jenswish · 06/11/2007 16:33

Was thinking I could do a course in January. Do you think I'm nuts? Will I have time?

Bettymamma · 06/11/2007 16:36

oh beller that sounds NICCCEEEE.

You won't get bored on maternity leave - you'll sleep and its xmas!

Fluffymummy - you might get more rest at work if you have ds at home! I'm officially working until week 40 but have saved alot of holiday. DD came early last time but who knows this time!!

Bettymamma · 06/11/2007 16:39

Depends what kind of course Jenswish - like a 2 day thing?? Something like a foreign language or ccokery - not anything too physical I hope!

Bettymamma · 06/11/2007 16:39

ccokery - sorry that sounds dodgy!!?

Jenswish · 06/11/2007 16:41

I dont know what type of course yet, I want a new career.

Jenswish · 06/11/2007 16:42

I dont know what type of course yet, I want a new career. Any ideas?

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:44

Beller - i go Tower 24 for coffee sometimes as it is just round the corner to work...

Jenwish - i think you are being a little optimistic, I would give it a little while.

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:44

What is your career at the moment?

What do you like? Good at?

Motivation?

Jenswish · 06/11/2007 16:48

my motivation will always be animals (although I would like to be a MW)

I work as a mortgage underwriter at the moment although I have no qualifications in this, just experience and knowledge.

Probably am nuts, but hey.... I gotta keep my mind occupied.

madmouse · 06/11/2007 16:53

Jenswish

You could spend some time working out how you can become a midwife. Now you have the space to do it. As far as I know there is a shortage and you could well be eligible for an NHS bursary and childcare facilities.

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:53

Is training to be a MW not an option??? I know it takes sometime but if it is something you would really like to do...
