Madmouse - i'm in waffley mood!

fluffymummy · 05/11/2007 12:29

Morning everyone! (Crikey, afternoon already )!!

Had a good weekend, despite DS1 having a stinking cold and an ongoing tummy bug thing...he's generally being good but had a very 'difficult' day on Saturday. Unfortunately DH has now got the tummy bug too, and after keeping me up all night is now at home in bed....

We had a 'kiddies fireworks party' yesterday afternoon for all our friends with little ones...about 11 kids sub 4, mostly aged between 1-3...half of them were hiding inside in tears after the first rocket, the others absolutely loved it. Hot ribena for the little ones and mulled wine for the adults ...was really funny!! We'd spent the last 2 days talking to DS about 'bangs' and 'pops' and pretty colours, so he found the whole thing unspeakably exciting!!

But I've somehow mullered my right leg/hip - either standing strangely outside or whilst making marmalade in the kitchen last night and now I can barely put any weight on it....is anyone else finding that back/legs/hips etc are getting really achey and uncomfortable?

Fruitful - welcome home!

Amani · 05/11/2007 12:34

Fluffymummy - hope you get well soon. I am always aching somewhere and DH thinks I am on a fast track to being an OAP.

Yes Fluffy - i feel quite disabled some days. Only determines my plans to retire to a warm country though.

I"ve had a bad back for about 6 years though so it's not new feeling achey.

Years ago a physio said to me the only way to really get cured is to completely rest for about a year. Who has a year to rest their back?!!!!

susiemj · 05/11/2007 12:48

Hi Fluffy - sounds like a great party. My hips are really achy too. Have you tried my tennis ball trick I posted last week? I do find it helps.

Amani · 05/11/2007 13:01

lol at back rest for a year? was he serious? surely that would be bad for your back to be in the same position all the time...??

anyone seen mm today?

OP posts:
fluffymummy · 05/11/2007 13:39

I'd forgotten about the tennis ball....will give that a go when I get home...not sure that's something I can do in a busy office

susiemj · 05/11/2007 13:42

LOL fluffy Oh no!

madmouse · 05/11/2007 14:46

everyone gone to sleep early today??

Amani · 05/11/2007 14:59

am here, although going in and out of my office to train the maternity temp up, who is sitting in another office. Bit inconvenient, but that's the least of my worries. She just can't seem to accept the fact that she does things wrong, which is fine as she is still training, but always seems to take it personally.

No mixedmamma today, i cheked the dec thread, if we dont hear tom ill text her....any news from barristermum either? I forget whos away etc?

madmouse · 05/11/2007 15:20

Worryingly also no news from Tripletsnadtwins. What time was the scan? Starting to think it may not be good news

susiemj · 05/11/2007 15:24

I think I'm heading to bed! Have caught DH's stomach bug. It's grey and windy outside. I'm at home and I've cleaned the house already. Bed feels tempting... Hope you all get to curl up soon.

I've got a tour of antenatal ward today. I'm beginning to think this baby is really going to come!

Amani · 05/11/2007 15:35

Heard from MM to say her DS is ill today but she should be back on tomorrow.

Wish I was in bed, reading instead of here...

OP posts:
beller · 05/11/2007 15:39

Amani · 05/11/2007 15:44

I'll be watching a highly intelligent programme aimed at people with greater than average IQ:

American's Next Top Model

OP posts:
beller · 05/11/2007 15:51

oooh thats on at the same time isnt it?

Jenswish · 05/11/2007 16:03

Hey girls,

Anyone heard from tripletsandtwins? Hope she's ok.

Well I've only just got out of bed!! How lazy am I? Off to the docs to get my sicknote for work. Assuming they'll sign me off, I hope so.

We've got kids setting off fireworks already!! It's only 4pm!!

Re: MOvements - Mine are the same, you can feel movement but it definately isn't a kick anymore, feels like the sea is moving in there or something. The only time I get kicked is if I'm lying on my side with my leg up and baby seems good at aiming for said leg!! haha

Anyway off to docs and then I'm joining Amani for America's Next Top Model!! (I'm hooked)

Amani · 05/11/2007 16:06

9mm on LIVING +2. I like to make myself feel better and eat a box of chocolates while watching the programme ...

MrsBiscuit · 05/11/2007 16:32

I'll be watching Top Model too. That and Project Runway are my current TV must-sees. Normally I just Sky+ and watch later because DH doesn't like them, but I'm annoyed with him today so it's his tough luck......

The dates of the antenatal classes have been on the calendar for 3 months now, and he's just informed me that he's got to miss our first session tomorrow night because of work. . I know it's not his fault, but really peed off.

tripletsandtwins · 05/11/2007 16:37

YAY!! IT'S GOOD NEWS!!!!!!! She had been lying awkwardly during my last scan, but is in fact growing beautifully! I'm so relieved Thank you for all your thoughts

Right, now I can catch up with renewed enthusiasm!

I hope you all get the homebirths that you're wishing for.

Awen, did you enjoy the fireworks? Having children is definitely worth all the horrors of pregnancy Hope your sideeffects ease up!

Amani, I'm sorry that your dh wasn't allowed to stay with you & baby after birth; my dh was encouraged to stay at my hospital - I don't think I could have survived without him. It's totally normal to not feel movements quite as strongly around now because there is less space to move Enjoy America's Next Top Model.

Jenswish, I'm terrible with hospitals too...they remind me of bad times. Hopefully, you won't be in for very long. I did that test and it said there was a 47% of a boy and 53% of a girl - I think I may have confused it! LOL. I wouldn't say lazy, just lucky! Good for you

Madmouse, Ignore everyones negative comments, I think there must be a rule somewhere that states that if you do anything that differs slightly from the norm, you must be bombarded by negativeness.

Ayrshirelolo, I hope you are not doing too much

Fruitful, WELCOME HOME! It must be such a relief for you. Nothing like your own bed . You take it easy though!

Sabinar, I hope you had a safe trip to Berlin.

Gingerme, I'm glad that your boys enjoyed halloween; my dts had great fun, although, dt1 would only wear her normal clothes and a mask! I don't usually do halloween, but I was bullied into it this year as dh thought I needed to have some fun with dcs.

Beller, I remember having a baby lodged firmly up my ribs, pushing out my ribcage. Not something I would care to repeat, but I've been feeling some stray feet up there. Enjoy dragon's den!

Susiemj, lovely to see a bit of beany

Fluffymummy, I hope your ds is better soon. Lovely about him being so excited about fireworks.

Re movements, it seems I have a nocturnal and a daytime beany, (That better not continue after they are born!) I can prod beany 2 he kicks back (hard!) and will do that everytime I do so, yet beany 1 just curls up!

Not quite as amazing as MrsMcJnr, but it's the best I can do.

Hope you're all well xxx

madmouse · 05/11/2007 16:40

TripletsandTwins as you can see below I was getting worried. This news MADE MY DAY . Just tell your beanies to take it easy for a bit now yah

susiemj · 05/11/2007 17:23

Fantastic news tripletsandtwins. Well done you!

fluffymummy · 05/11/2007 17:28

Thats fantastic news Tripletsandtwins ...I've been waiting for you to post before I left the office for the day but was beginning to get really worried...!!

Right, off home to look after sick DH (who sounds awful on the phone - also the tummy bug) and poorly DS (cold and tummy bug). Sadly our amazing nanny is going into hospital for an op tomorrow morning so the rest of the week is going to be absolutely chaotic as I try to combine full time work with getting DS between various family members and then home each day for dinner.... How come its always mums that have to organise this?

Aaaanyway, had better head back - sorry if you don't hear much from me this week...I've got GP checkup (instead of midwife) tomorrow, then the 28 week hospital check (actually, I'm 29, but never mind!) on Wednesday - I think that's just another midwife-style appt but with blood tests and stuff as well. Taking Friday off as annual leave to spend with DS and really looking forward to it !

Hugs all round, hope those of you that are well stay well and those of you who are feeling poorly feel better soon...and love and kisses to everyone!!! xxx
