Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Battymamma · 31/10/2007 15:59

Do you mean bloomin marvellous? i think they do Elle MacP stuff? Its very nice.

Just spotted that Sainsburys have 75% off all halloween costumes so dd may be saved from the pumpkin outfit if I can find a black cat costume in there. It means leaving early tho but heh ho!

Battymamma · 31/10/2007 16:00

Good to hear from you Neuro - hope you are ok. Good to hear you're enjoying the enforced rest!

beller · 31/10/2007 16:04

susiemj - I meant mothercare..but that looks realy nice...can you buy vouchers for blooming marvelous? Will have to speak to sisters

Hi neuro!! Glad your enjoying your time off..although its sick leave..have you got your energy levels up yet? I also sent you a facebook thingy to add to mine? think i did anyway , although im pretty pants on it..

beller · 31/10/2007 16:05

amani- 2 days isnt long eh! wonder who will pop first!! im hoping babybel makes an appearance bfore xmas..but doubt it...s/he will come when ready!

madmouse · 31/10/2007 16:17

Hi Neuro good to see you

fluffymummy · 31/10/2007 16:31

I just need to excitedly share with everyone the total joy of turning down my first meeting request so far because I'm going to be on maternity leave. Hurrah!

OK, that's totally sad....

MM - sorry you're feeling pants, wish you better soon

Neuro - glad you're feeling a bit less ill and starting to enjoy the time off...thanks for checking in...we've been worried about you

Right, back to work...I've still got 12 weeks to go before my EDD (11 of them at work), so no countdowns for me quite yet...

Neuro · 31/10/2007 16:38

Aw shucks thanks everyone!
i'm fine. Got my feet up. Chilling.
I asked on Dec 08 instead of on here Beller - are you due on 29th Dec too? If so it is same day as me.

madmouse · 31/10/2007 16:38

Oh no fluffymummy that is not sad at all. If it was I would be a very sad person . I use those moments as milestones. But then I only have 4 and a half weeks left at work, of which 3 weeks watching my replacement get to grips with managing my team and my cases, so I get to say it all the time.

susiemj · 31/10/2007 16:40

Figleaves do vouchers and this bra. Blooming Marvellous don't seem to do vouchers.

gingeme · 31/10/2007 17:37

Hi ladies. Thanks for your kind words re dh. Hes home and hes fine. Not even sore though I think thats because of the pain killers hes had.
Im on a thread at the mo about nursing bras and loads of ladies have recomended the Elle McPherson ones. They look so much nicer than the Mothercare ones or Matalan ones I usualy get.
Im not burping so much as the other end I keep saying its the baby coughing

fruitful · 31/10/2007 18:05

Dunno about this bump measuring - they come and check my blood pressure, pulse, and temperature and listen to the baby every single day but noone has ever measured my bump! They do keep telling me that he is breech and I keep telling them that I don't care .

I had a scan this morning; baby is slightly on the big side which is just marvellous. Although (Jenswish! for you) - size estimates from scans can be really inaccurate.

And there is now some doubt about whether I have the placenta accreta thing. Although none of the scans are that accurate so they'll have to plan surgery as though I have it. Gives me some hope that I don't though! The MRI scan (which was horrible - lying on your back in a tunnel for 20 minutes!) was less hopeful.

Anyway, current plan is to have a cs the week before Christmas, when I will be 34 weeks, if I get that far. 7 weeks!

AND ... (very quiet tentative drumroll) I might be going HOME tomorrow! The docs are recommending I stay but they haven't actually got a reason that convinces me, and I get the impression that they are covering their backs. So I might go home for a month and come back at 32 weeks (when things start getting riskier). Can't quite believe it till it happens though - I'm waiting for a doc to appear and say "oh, we forgot to tell you..."

I sleep really well till about 4am and then wake up with achey legs and have to go for a walk. Ooh, I could be in my own bed with dh tomorrow!

I've switched the talk board back to no pages and newest first. But I've also opted out of a load of topics on active convos and it seems to be ignoring that. Have I missed something?

Gingeme, lol at your dream! Good to hear your dh is ok.

susiemj · 31/10/2007 19:34

Oh Gingeme - the other end has been going crazy since the first trimester, so i just take that as normal! I don't even know when they're coming!

Fruitful - great that you might be going home! Fingers crossed.

ayrshirelolo · 31/10/2007 21:24

evening ladies! Happy hallowe'en to you all
Fruitful, hope they let you out soon! Will keep all relevant extremeties crossed for you! Gingeme, hope dh is ok and not feeling too sorry for himself!
Fluffymummy / madmouse, i'm at work for another 6 weeks and 2 days.. and thoroughly enjoyed telling the boss i wouldn't be available for the rota between Christmas and New Year.. one of life's great pleasures!
Had m/wife appointment today, everything fine, asked me to "pop back" in 2 weeks, but only if it suits me! Lovely and novel, i used to live in Glasgow (still work there and commute) and the whole system there is about cost per patient, you only get one scan at 12 wks etc, truly pants!
A wee tip for the heartburn/ acid reflux thing - don't know why it works, but eating fresh pineapple contains some kind of enzyme which encourages the valve at the top of the stomach to tighten up a bit and so it feels better. For some reason tinned fruit doesn't work so it needs to be the fresh stuff. Probably completely psychosomatic (on the spelling!) but it worked for me last time when i got so sick of swigging Gaviscon i'd have tried anything!
I'm well of all of you with only a wee while to go.. think i'm last on the list with due date of 31st Jan... only at 27 weeks tomorrow and it feels like an age till 40 weeks!
I'll still be as big as a bus when you are all sleeping beautifully with gorgeous babies and flat tummies! Oh well, too late now!
Have a lovely spooky night, lolo xx

gingeme · 31/10/2007 22:35

Flat tummies! Your having a laugh surely? i never had one of those bc!
Dh ok. Just had a little look, he had a circumstition aswell. Yuk!!
The hospital havnt phoned since my gd check so looks like Ive got away with not having diabetes
Great news fruitful. Nothing like your own bed is there?
Glad everyones mw appt went well. Ive heard about pineapple helping to start labour but never to help heartburn.
Well off to bed now.
Goodnight see you all about 4 am for a wee xx

beller · 01/11/2007 07:46

Morning all! Up early this morning and in work at 6.30 ...

fluffymummy - I have 17 working days left to go!!!! Woo-hoo...cant wait!

Gingeme - glad your dh is ok! I was up way before 4 am for a wee x

Neuro - Im due 28th dec, so only a day in it! x

Suisiemj - Thanks for info re figleaves xx

Fruitful - Have my fingers crossed that you might be home today!! Why cant the scans show where the placenta is? x

Ayreshirelo - Its great not having to work in between xmas and Ny! Although thats exactly when im due..so not sure if I will have babe in arms or size of 20 turkeys Might seem like a way off for you..but just think you will get a great view into the future..although I know you have been there before xx

Amani · 01/11/2007 08:29

Morning all!

Beller - tried what you suggested, regarding not looking at the clock when I woke up at night - even though I was itching to see the time I forced myself not to.

Anyhow went back to sleep much quicker as I wasn't tossing and turning and stressing about how much sleep time I had left before work - so it does work!

OP posts:
Amani · 01/11/2007 08:43

BTW can anyone help? Getting a really sharp pain on the left hand side of my bump, might this be B-H or stretching pains?

OP posts:
beller · 01/11/2007 08:53

amani - yayyyyyyyy! it really does work...not sure it overrides the pregnancy niggles..but can only help Not sure what your pains are? The BH i have been egtting are not painful and are across the bump, so my guess would be stretching pains? Must admit i have felt like I am stretching at mom

I ordered a swimsuit from blooming marvelous tue,and it came yest...all good so far..but as the rest of their stuff comes up HUGE, i ordered a 10 ( as their small is an 8-10 and they fit!) and its a tad tight around the bum ....going to put up with it though, as i will prob only wear it a handful of times and dont really have time to send it back as only have swimming pool at work gym ...oh well was in the sale..and will hopefully fit after too (its a tankini) Just annoyed they are not consistant with their sizing! (moan over!!! )

sabinar · 01/11/2007 09:13

good morning all,

yay fruitful - that's such good news. Fingers crossed you make it home soon!

well, I have actually go out to work today (rather than working from home), which is a bit of a pain but at least this horrid cold seems to have lifted, so yay for that

we have our first NCT antenatal class this evening. I remember putting them in the calendar ages ago and thinking - wow, that's such a long way away, I bet I'm going to be huge then... and now it's here! Crazy.

hope you all had good sleeps last night and a good day today!

amani - my trick for any weird stretchy pains in the bump now is to roll over the top of my gym ball/birth ball so your knees are on the ground and your head and arms flop over the other side of the ball. Works magic for me.

gingeme · 01/11/2007 10:40

Morning ladies.
Sounds like stretching pains Amani. You feel Braxton Hicks all over your bump.
Are you home yet Fruitful?
Sounds like a great position for giving birth sabiner. I can realy feel my back arching forward as Im walking now. Realy trying to correct it but its comfortable
Can you please remind me of the dates suggested for the next meet up? If I remember rightly one was 29th November? I can make that as dh finnishes work at 2pm.
Anyway thats about it for now.
Have a good day xx

susiemj · 01/11/2007 10:45

Morning all!

A question: Cots. What make are you going to buy? Are there any makes to avoid?

AND. In the books they say the slats have to be a certain distance apart. Do all cots atually conform to this, or do you need to get your ruler out?

Feeling like a creaky old girl this morning. Sympathy to all those with stretches and aches. [hwink] to those feelin' fine.
Sx

susiemj · 01/11/2007 10:46

Hallowenees no longer working!

sabinar · 01/11/2007 10:49

gingerme - I think the other date was the 19th.

it does sound like rather a good position for giving birth, doesn't it? I hadn't thought of that. I certainly find it incredibly comfortable and relaxing, although you can't get much done in that position unfortunately!

eh. I still can't believe it's November already!

fluffymummy · 01/11/2007 10:51

Morning everyone!

Beller - I also tried your not looking at the clock thing..it worked fine the first time I went to the loo (whenever that was ) but I made the mistake of looking at the time at 6.20am...but (to be fair!) it was clearly light outside so I knew there wasn't that much longer to go...! Anyway, I'm going to try to stick at it!

Sabinar - glad you're feeling a bit better hon

Gingeme - delighted to hear your dh is home in one piece, even if he's missing bits ...you'll get used to the 'new look' faster than you think.... The other date we were talking about was 19th in Islington (MixedMama is being the organised one, but I'm pretty certain that's what it was)....any chance you can make that?

Fruitful - amazing news (maybe...)...going to keep fingers crossed for you all day!

Susie - I know exactly what you mean about the other end....I've also been like that since first trimester, with no warning and it's really anti-social

Lolo - yup, its not fair. My EDD is 24th Jan, although I don't expect to see the baby any time before February....so this lot will all be posting about bf-ing, sleep patterns, being massively loved up etc whilst I still feel like a beached whale .

Does anyone know where Cryptlets, Mrs Biscuit & Barristermum have got to?

MixedMama - hope the acid/saliva thing is less awful today?

mixedmama · 01/11/2007 10:59

am back ladies.... gavisconed up last night and slept with four pillows so was almost sitting, but slept from 11.30 until 6.30 so very pleased. Will try the pineapple as well tho as every little helps.

Gingme - I think the dates so far are 19 and 29 november.

Hey to everyone.... i had so much to say but now cant remember any of it.

Batty - did you post something about the date for the meet up yesterday... sure you did but just need to add to my list.... brain like a sieve and being lazy.
