Seem to consistently be sleeping from 11.30 til 4.30 ( was 3.30 until clocks changed) and then abck to sleep until 8 ish few weeks ago was barely getting any but seems to have settled down.

I think I must be in for another growth spurt as the nausea is back with a vengeance and sick yesterdat so didnt go to nct class felt too groggy.

ANyway working at home hooray although work is hard at the moment.

AM due 28th jan so i will be another one fat and whale like while they are all with lo.

We got our cot from tutti bambini - give them a ring they are so helpful, assemble everything and if you need other things really to good deals.

Amani · 01/11/2007 11:48

Cheers guys for your advice.
feeling a little better now, pain not too bad.
Fluffymummy - I looked at the clock at 6.30am but only done it as it was light and had that feeling it was 'waking up' time anyway. It's trying to resist looking at the clock half way through the night which is hard....

beller · 01/11/2007 11:51

Susiemj - Mine is mammas and pappas, not sure about the specifications

fluffymummy - Glad it worked

Nicky6 - Hope you feel better soon! When does the trial actually start?

Mixedmamma - glad you slept better xx

Not sure where missing people are...barristermum etc? My memory is soooooooooo bad?!

Just been for a swim..and really enjoyed it! Nice to feel weightless....hahah havnt felt like that for a while!

fluffymummy · 01/11/2007 11:59

Ours was kindly donated by our next door neighbours (who we didn't really know at the time, but 2.5 years on love dearly!)...it a mammas & papas one (Amelia, or something?) and its been absolutely brilliant! Helped of course, by not having to invest a few hundred pounds...

For those on a budget - several of our friends bought the Ikea ones and have been perfectly happy with them

Amani · 01/11/2007 12:04

We've got the IKEA cot for DD - the white one with the adjustable base and it was perfectly fine for DD. Also bought a changing table from there for about £18 - brilliant bargin

madmouse · 01/11/2007 12:14

We are planning to buy a cot just before lo outgrows his borrowed moses basket, as we have just no space where we are at the moment. Have my eye on an IKEA one too. Spend little on the cot more on the matress is my philosophy.
We will be moving when the baby will be five months, so too big for moses basket. It will have to be a smallish cot to fit next to my side of the bed. The new house should have room for a nursery! We don't know what house the church will buy for us to live in but three beds is the norm for a curate.

Just got lo to spook one of our admin gals by prodding his feet (I think!!) out of the top of my bump. Despite having nieces and nephews she had never seen anything like it!!

gingeme · 01/11/2007 12:53

Yes were getting the I kea one and also have the I kea changing table.
Right dates for meet up. I can do 1-17th Nov. 23-30 Nov. 2nd-15th Dec. Cor that sounds like dh hardly ever works doesnt it? Thats the joy of working on the underground

MrsBiscuit · 01/11/2007 13:01

Hello

Took the day off yesterday as not been busy at work and don't like being bored; so instead went shopping .
DH wasn't working either so after the success with the Haynes manual I thought I'd try a total immersion technique and dragged him round the nursery section of John Lewis. Cue lots of "do we really need one of those?" and "what the ####'s that for?". So not an unmitigated victory but at least he's waking up to what's going on!

On the cots - I did some research and ended up wanting the Cosatto Olivia bedside cot, so got a good condition one second hand from e-bay. Just need a new mattress and all the bobbins to go with it now.

Jenswish · 01/11/2007 13:48

I went to toysrus last night and bought moses basket, pram and a set of bedding for the moses basket!! Much to the disguist of DP (cost too much money apparently)

Lulubump · 01/11/2007 14:20

Hi all! Gingeme - glad your DH's surgery went well! Mixedmama - congrats on beating the heartburn and managing to sleep
Susiemj -think that all cots now have to meet a certain British Standard, so if your cot is new, it will automatically meet the specs, but if you're getting a second hand one, you might need to get the tape measure out.

Had quite a hectic morning. Went in for some routine blood tests at the health centre, mentioned lulu didn't seem very active today which is unusual, and was then sent off to hospital and hooked up to the foetal heartrate monitor, and they LEFT me on it for TWO HOURS!! . Seemed to think that lulu was too 'sleepy', whatever that means, made me drink cold water to wake her up, and then I was left on my own for the entire time. And after all that water, I was desperate for a wee.

It was supposed to take 20 minutes. Was really ticked off!!! Couldn't even have a proper sleep (although did doze), as they were so crap at placing the doppler that they made me hold it in place with my hand...for TWO HOURS!

Anyway, after all that drama, lulu is perfectly fine. Of course, she started somersaulting madly as soon as the doppler was attached!

Ooooh, and the major drama was the woman in the booth next to me was at 34 weeks, and was having contractions according to the machine, although she said she wasn't feeling them, and they sent her off to labour suite. She was really horrified and kept saying 'You're kidding!! Why can't I go home??'. Was v exciting.

Amani · 01/11/2007 14:35

Lulubump - good to know bean is ok, although about that woman next to you.

OP posts:
madmouse · 01/11/2007 14:37

Hi Lulubump

What a drama. So glad to hear Lulu is ok. They say babies go very quiet when in distress so I guess that is why they wanted to check you out and that may be what they meant with sleepy.

If they are so concerned they could take better care of you though , ridiculous that you were made to hold the Doppler.

No doubt Lulu started somersaulting to show her displeasure at the whole thing .

How many weeks are you? I am 27 and a half and when my babbit decides to somersault he takes my breath away it feels quit forceful!

susiemj · 01/11/2007 14:53

Afternoon all,

Thanks for the great advice about the cots. Knew you'd come up trumps.

That's what I thought about the slat measurement, Gingeme, so don't be Beller. I read somewhere (here maybe?) recently that all the equipment has to pass the came safety tests so you weren't necessarily getting something safer i fyou spent more money. Funny how sometimes your common sense switches off.. Well, mine doea.

Jenswish, well really! What did he expect... fool!

Lulu - glad little lu is ok. Sorry you had to wait so long. What a drama for that woman - 34 weeks. Gulp!

Nicky6 - I was looking at a Tutti Bambini this morning. Liked it. IT had a drawer that you had to pay £50 extra for at Mothercare. Also, spookily. a Cosatto Mrs Biscuit.

Why are Mothecare always such a let down? I really WANT to like them but they just don;t come up to scratch in any way it seems.

Right, more cot hunting!

beller · 01/11/2007 14:55

What an eventful day Lulubump..glad lulu is well though

Not sure if i told you..but i got approached by a women in Brentwood a couple of weeks ago, they are filming a documentory about ideal births etc... I have been speaking to them by email..and they are expressing an interest in having me on the programme...only stumbling block is I said I wouldnt be filmed for the birth! hahaha They have mailed me back again to see if i have had any change of heart on that? Couldnt imagine anything worse than having a film camera in the house as im giving birth! Then how ever many people seeing me in that state/position!! shock]
They did say they wanted to film before 28th, but didnt want to rule me out hahaah anyway..just thught i would share that little snippet!

mixedmama · 01/11/2007 15:04

I love those programmes... just think how many people you would be helping beller

beller · 01/11/2007 15:09

heheh still cant stop laughing!

mixedmama · 01/11/2007 15:12

lulu - sorry yto hear they were rubbish at the hospital. i had to be montiroed a while back and was there for four hours... and the bloody monitors are so rubbish if you move a cm they lose the baby... drove me mad.

susiemj · 01/11/2007 15:16

My DH has been told exactly where HIS video camera will be stuck if he comes anywhere near me with it during birth, let alone a NATIONAL TV company!

I am going to ask a stupid and complicated question about cots. Forgive me.

I want a cot bed with a dropside that i can have right next to mine. On all the ones I've seen (and no I haven't looked at really expensive ones) the dropside doesn;t drop down completely. I can see why this is. HOWEVER my question is: if it's a cotbed, I should be able to just take off one side completely for the time it's right next to my bed, shouldn't I? And then I can put the dropside back on when the babe goes into her own room. Am I missing something?

Amani · 01/11/2007 15:18

OMG Beller - are you really going to go for it?

Good on you if you do, although I don't think it is my cup of tea!

We'll have to keep an eye out for you on the telly - what a way of having your 15 mins of fame!!

OP posts:
beller · 01/11/2007 15:25

amani- nooooooooooo your missing the point!! I said I WOULDNT be filmed for love nor money!! Couldnt think of anything worse!! They just came back to me to see if i had changed my mind...hahahah errr NO!

Susiemj - I would think you could..depending on how big the cot was..and whether the levels were right? I know you can get beds that go along side yours...not sure of the cost..heres a link of an example.armsreach.com/

MrsBiscuit · 01/11/2007 15:33

Susiemj - the cot I bought has one side that drops completely and slides underneath. It's very simple and you can put it up or down as you want. Look at the small pic here Bedside cot

You can also adjust the base to 4 different heights so that it matches your bed height.

LOL at your video camera comment

madmouse · 01/11/2007 15:34

susiemj LOL at what you are planning to do with DHs VHS. Mine is the opposite. Any whiff of a camera and he will abandon me, he hates them with a vengeance. For our wedding day he made clear that I could chose between a groom and a video!!

MrsBiscuit · 01/11/2007 15:40

Sorry Susiemj, being thick - just read that you were after a cotbed. Ignore my comments - they're just about a cot.

susiemj · 01/11/2007 15:41

Thanks Mrs Biscuit - it's a lovely cot, but I'm aiming for a cotbed. You see, I want it all, and I want it now. At least I'm wondering if it's possible....

That armsreach thing looks lovely Beller. But same again: I'm a cheapskate and I want something that does everything. Good point about the bed height though.

Madmouse, my DH was much the same ...until that is, I got a big round baby tummy. Now he keeps sneaking up on me with it, telling me I look beautiful. I do NOT look beautiful. I look like crap. If he did it when I'd had 5 minutes to do my hair and disguise the bags under my eyes I wouldn't mind. He seems always to pick a day when I've had my head down the toilet all afternoon. Can't imagine I look good then. Call me vain, but if I'm going to be immortalised, I want some warning!

madmouse · 01/11/2007 16:39

Teehee Susiemj, I have one advantage over you: DH is training to be a vicar and is on a regular basis filmed while preaching then forced to watch himself so he knows too well what it is like . I think I am really quite safe!
