Can't believe it. Just got my BFP today and by my reckoning baby should be due 1st July.
Is there anyone else out there?

Sorry typing one handed

ExpLEUSIveS · 05/11/2007 13:03

You sneaky secretive woman, Paula. Come on fess up. You are not coming to the Christmas meet-up because you are up the duff... and nothing to do with shopping in Paris.

Congratulations!!

My fingers are tightly crossed for you and this pregnancy.

PS You might have a 4th of July baby... wouldn't that be eciting.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/11/2007 16:42

Actually it means I can't go shopping because my Doctor says I shouldn't fly. It means I an't go to London either. My OB might say something diffrent.

I know wouldn't it be fun. (Starts Singing) Born on the 4th of July!!!!!! Me and Expat could have patriotic babies.

ExpLEUSIveS · 05/11/2007 17:25

Oh no. Paris is cancelled too? Well, maybe we can have post baby summer bash up in Paris or London -- you pick.

You know they sell cute baby clothes at Harrods!!!

Oh oh... don't forget to check out Daisy and Tom -- fab baby clothes there.

sweetkitty · 05/11/2007 17:27

Has anyone else got ms sickness yet? Well I shouldn't say I have ms more like I feel sick all the time and have no appetite whatsoever. Last time the only thing I could face was chips with loads of ketchup and Dairylea sandwiches of all things (don't usually even eat Dairylea) but think it was because they took 30 sceonds to make and 30 seconds to eat. I was only eating to stop feeling hungry if that makes sense?

Don't know if this is it starting (too soon surely) or it's the stomach bug thing?

Am dreading Christmas as I won't be able to face eating lovely Christmas dinner (I was like it with DD1 over Christmas).

Sorry just having a bit of a moan. Haven't told anyone yet but going to a wine and whinge party this Friday will have to tell then.

ExpLEUSIveS · 05/11/2007 17:27

"I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandee.... Born on the fourth of July..."

Come on, sing it....

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll bhave now.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/11/2007 17:28

Thats sounds great!!! I know I hope this little bean makes it cause I love shopping in the kids floor at Harrods!!!!

You'll have to come up here and let me show you around

ExpLEUSIveS · 05/11/2007 17:31

here for the tune.

Oh, yes, I could manage a trip over there. Maybe when you hit the second trimester and you get some energy back... (and the weather improves).

Okay, gotta go. Late for Pizza and beer with the guys from work...

paulaplumpbottom · 05/11/2007 17:36

A beer sounds lovely. Enjoy

Had my first doctors appointment today.

Just chatted about how I was feeling and my lifestyle etc.

Got my copy of Emma's diary and given the number to ring for my mid-wife to arrange an appointment. It will be at the hospital and be approx and Hour and a half long.
Will this be the 12 week appoinment with the scan?

Long story too but since swallowing a 20p as a child I have great trouble swallowing tablets. So now have a prescription for Folic acid syrup. I know ,I know, I feel about 5yrs old!

Hope everyones had a good day today.

Where's the reset button gone? My threads are getting long and I reset them so I know where I read up to in the past!

Pigley as this is your first baby and you have never had any previous compliations you probably won't see anyone else about your pregnancy. It seems a long time away but will be here before you know it

sweetkitty · 05/11/2007 21:37

First GP appointment is a complete letdown IME,
hi I'm pregnant,
oh congratulations date of last period
it was X
oh your due date is Y
thanks
are you taking folic acid
yes
good
do you smoke
no
good
ok then we will book you in with the midwives

and thats it

expatinscotland · 05/11/2007 21:40

they made me submit a pee sample for a lab!

told me i'd at least get more than the 13 week scan you get in Edinburgh.

i've got a choice of homebirth or midwife-led centre at the local hospital.

but there's no consultant-based care except over an hour a way, so the nurse did explain that women who develop complications are looking at a long haul or if they need a csection they are scheduled for 38 weeks there given the distance.

hmm, some decisions to make in the future.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/11/2007 21:47

That sounds potentyially scary

paulaplumpbottom · 05/11/2007 21:49

LOl potentially

expatinscotland · 05/11/2007 21:49

it doesn't bother me.

but im one of those hippy types who is seriously considering homebirth.

sweetkitty · 05/11/2007 21:50

wow expat that sounds a bit mad, what are you thinking? What have your other births been like?

sweetkitty · 05/11/2007 21:50

Homebirth is fab, I had a homebirth with DD2 and it was great (well apart from the horrendous OMG I'm dying type pain).

expatinscotland · 05/11/2007 21:52

first birth was protracted and required forceps solely because of the baby's position - she was back to back and had one hand way up by her head.

second one. i barely got to hospital in time.

she was born about 20 minutes after arrival and hospital was only another 20 mins. away.

expatinscotland · 05/11/2007 21:53

no pain relief for DD2, i was 9cm on arrival and G&A made me soooo ill i couldn't use it.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/11/2007 21:55

Wow, I went natural the first time and swore I would never do it again. 3 times. I'm impressed

expatinscotland · 05/11/2007 21:58

i had to have an epidural for DD1, for the forceps and the back to back position.

but went natural for DD2.

found it far better afterwards than with the epi.

hoping things go well and baby is head down and engages well.

sweetkitty · 05/11/2007 22:00

My DD1 was like that expat, head up by face, tore me to shreds (sorry first timers)

DD2 was 3lbs heavier and a more straight forward birth, being at home was great not at the actual time of labour but afterwards.

Sounds like a homebirth is the way to go for you too expat, oh and you get 2 MWs just for you, don't get that in a hospital. I knew all the MWs who would deliver me and they were all excited as to who would deliver me (homebirths not common here) they would even pop in for a visit when they were on call that night to see how I was and if there was any chance I might be starting. Only thing is here they will only cover 39-42 weeks so if your out of that you have to go to hospital.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/11/2007 22:03

would you have your kids with you expat?
