Can't believe it. Just got my BFP today and by my reckoning baby should be due 1st July.
Is there anyone else out there?

hug to icklegem x

I've got my docs appointment this afternoon - at last!
I did another pg test this morning - to check I was still pg. How silly is that?!

I'm feeling better this week - last week I couldn't think past my next sleep, but I must have finished growing all the complicated bits cos I've woken up!

paulaplumpbottom · 27/11/2007 13:53

I think until your GP confirms it, it sometimes doesn't feel real. Thats why you take so many tests

coolkat · 27/11/2007 15:51

Hi Ladies,
I keep getting tummy ache still, I was going to leave going to the doctors but have decided o go and booked an appointment for tomorrow. For some reason I just feel like something bad is going to happen - silly I know. I am hoping that because of my periods being all over the place and tummy pain she might sugest an early scan I know wake up coolkat that won't happen but still no harm at hoping!!

Gosh it sounds like you have all got your hands full with poorly little ones, hope they are better soon. My DD went through stages when she was younger but the news is she seems pretty immune now!

I must make my DH go up in the loft and sort out christmas stuff, I am sure I have paper and cards but if not I need to buy more.
He is on a course this week and I need to speak to him as work have offered me some more hours, do I or don't I?

Breizhette · 27/11/2007 15:54

Icklegem. So sorry. Take care of yourself. xx

DD slept all night last night, but woke up at 5.50am. I guess that's a start...

I am quite annoyed today as I bought a new set of digital scales as my old ones were rubbish, and I found out I was underestimating my weight by a stone!!!!
Basically I haven't lost half of my previous pregnancy weight and I had just started a diet when I found out I was pregnant. Obviously not dieting anymore but I am being very careful about what I eat this time.

sweetkitty · 27/11/2007 16:08

Breizhette - try not to worry about the weight thing, it's not been that long since you had your LO and I can assure with 2 under 2 you WILL lose weight afterwards. I have lost 1 1/2 stone on my pre-pregnancy weight with my first, probably because I don't sit at a desk all day eating anymore.

coolkat - sorry about you tummy ache but better to get these things checked out, saves your sanity if nothing else.

Still feeling rubbish just want to crawl into bed today.

Jodiew79 · 27/11/2007 16:21

Hi guys, just found this thread, any one mind if I join in? I'm due on about 9th July (although dating scan on 18th Dec should confirm this) Have DS 14 months old, bit scared!

I too have been convincing myself it's not real... just because we had unprotected sex when ovulating and my period is 15 days late and I've been feeling tired, hungry, light-headed and nauseous, and have done two positive pregancy tests, it surely doesn't mean I really am pregnant does it??

Have been to the doctor but they didn't ask me to confirm it, just took my word for it. I could be some fantasist!!

(I'm not, just wanted to make that clear. Am merely in denial...)

santascRUMPELedsuit · 27/11/2007 18:26

Oh ICKLEGEM - big massive hugs and kisses. Your GP probably didn't want to test you as your hormone level would have meant you still tested positive - probably didn't want to make you feel worse. Take care of yourself - if you feel all over the place hormonally I'd recommend taking agnus castus (herb) for a while - it will help to regulate your hormones.

COOLKAT - I'd say no to the extra hours - you need to rest and look after yourself. Cooking bean is more important than work - not meaning to sound patronising or anything but the first time I fell pg I was off work for 6 weeks because of the sickness. I'd never been off work so long before and spent loads of time worrying about letting people down - then I miscarried and it puts it all into perspective.

Hi Jodie and Min912 - where are you on the EDD list?

FEB - our house sale fell through today - or has been put back to end of January We have moved already and where our old house is usually sells really quickly but because of the market it has been a nightmare - we will be having a 'careful' Christmas this year!

Got my first Dr appointment tomorrow morning.
Not fussed as they never do anything apart from test and make you go to the midwife. Hope the midwife here is nicer than the one where I used to live - she was sharp and to the point to say the least.

LO is still poorly and was crying out in her sleep last night so a restless sleep for me again - I woke up all sweaty on several occasions too - I get really really HOT when pg! Felt really sick this morning and took until this afternoon before I could function properly. Dissertation due on Friday - I managed to get some done today but will need to work like mad tomorrow when LO is at nursery.

Giant post!
Hope you are all well and managing not to heave too much bleurgh emoticon.xx

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 27/11/2007 18:51

Oh goody - more people with small age gaps to be so we can all panic together.

Hi Jodie

I too am having the same thing - being PG the first time was always on my mind and the first thing I remembered on waking etc and now more often than not I forget. I am geuninely wondering if they will find anything at all when they scan me - other than cakes and cans of coke that is .

Drs appointment next week - I'll be 8 weeks. How many weeks are all you ladies who have had Drs appointments or have them coming up? Am I late going in?

santascRUMPELedsuit · 27/11/2007 18:57

I am 6 weeks now, although my tum looks about 4 months! Iused to be pear shaped but my belly has caught up with my arse! especially at night. I find I am having my main meal at lunch as by evening I am all bloated and don't feel like eating. Well I could squeeze some cake in

My DD is mostly made of cake, diet coke, pickled onions and melon I remember having quite a few McD's milkshakes first time aorund - was horrified to discover a few months ago that they contain about 500 calories!

min912 · 27/11/2007 19:07

Empathy for Santa's 'sharp' midwife - I have refused point blank to see the midwife attached to my local surgery, although she was outwardly mostly sympathetic last time she did come out with the following comments:
1 - telling me a week before my due date when I was HUGE and in great discomfort with SPD that she was four weeks overdue with her first baby
2 - telling me to go for a walk to bring on labour. Hello, with the SPD, it hurt to even get in the car let alone walk anywhere!
3 - after DS was born (epidural and then episiotomy and forceps delivery) she told me I'd had an epidural because I had the gas and air too soon. Too soon?? The contractions were less than 4 mins apart in under 2hrs and - guess what? - quite painful. And gas and air made me feel sick.
4 - This is what clinched it for me - when DS was only 9 days old she told me to only feed him every four hours (he needed 2hrly feeds at this point) and if he cried in between to give him sugared water. I reported her for that one.

Sorry to rant, despite it being well over a year I am (obviously) still annoyed!!

PTIYP - I saw the doctor last week at 5 weeks but only because I couldn't remember what happened at what time last time. She said I'd get a midwife appointment (a different m/w!!) sometime around 8 weeks at my surgery, but looking back at my diary for first pregnancy I didn't get one before until 10/11 weeks.

Chocolate milk is my obsession, although to be honest I am quite partial to it when not pregnant as well!

Question for everyone - is anyone considering a nuchal scan?

santascRUMPELedsuit · 27/11/2007 19:12

MIN912 - I has SPD first time round too. Used a belt but to be honest it helped the SPD a bit but not my IBS! Too squashy.

Not sure about a nuchal scan - do they offer you that if you are an 'older' Mum?

My second midwife in labour was an absolute bitch from hell! She shouted at me and was just horrid. She was practically leaping up and down with glee when I asked for an epideural (eventually) as it mean't she could get shot of me to the medical unit! Even my DH noticed.

EEC · 27/11/2007 19:28

min912 - I'm having a nuchal scan - Have booked in at the fetal med centre in London on 2 Jan. I'm 39, so I guess the risk for me is pretty high. I couldn't get it on NHS though so had to go private.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt - I'm not seeing my doctor at all - just the midwife, when I will be 9 1/2 weeks.

min912 · 27/11/2007 19:29

I had this stretchy tube thing, like a knee support but you step into it and fold it over. Bloody thing would need re-folding about 4 times a day! And I had to take it off if I needed to do a number 2!! And then finally when I got huge it was just too small.

Was planning on purchasing a support belt this time and seeing an osteopath and a personal trainer for specific exercises to help. And not doing breaststroke when swimming.

Did you complain about the midwife??

Nuchal scan you have to pay for in my area (about £65). We had one last time out of first-timer panic and although I am (mostly) more relaxed this time it was a much nicer, more personal experience than the dating scan ('yep, it's a baby, yes it's about the right size, off you go now') and the sonographer seemed genuinely excited for us and enjoyed her job.

Having said that I'm more relaxed, I'm almost 35 so I think I'll have one again for that reason. It was very reassuring actually.

pigleychez · 27/11/2007 19:32

I saw the doctor at 5 weeks and have my first midwife appointment on Dec 18th when I will be 11 weeks.

Hope everyones well

libralady · 27/11/2007 19:36

Welcome Min and anyone else who's new.
I too have my dating scan on 19th December. Saw Dr @ 4 weeks, MW @ 4+5 and I've got my Booking In appt with MW tomorrow - 9 weeks. Scan will be @ 12 weeks based in my dates.
I'm seriously considering the nuchal test as I'm 38. But I've read on other threads that it's not free in all areas. I haven't heard that there is a charge here, my MW just gave me all the literature on it.
I'm absolutely shattered today, but DS has been very trying. Am seriously considering sending him back to Playschool tomorrow. His rash has all but disappeared (just a few spots behind his knees) and I'm sure he's bored being kept at home. Consultant said he could go back on Monday if not running a temp even with rash, but thought his self esteem might take a battering if the other kids picked on him for it.
He went to bed at 5.45 tonight so I'll pay for it in the morning, especially as DH is away.

OP posts:
min912 · 27/11/2007 19:55

Awww sounds grim Libralady! Our DS has had cold + cough + (I think) teething, not helped by us too forcefully shoving calpol down his throat the other night so that he promptly threw it back up (plus dinner, nice, all over DH who then threw up as well!!). He slept through last night but night before was up from 11pm until about 1.45am so today it has been getting to me.

If your small man is definitely down for the night and hubby is away, can you use tonight for yourself?? Have an extra-long bath / watch your favourite film / eat chocolates. Then if he does wake up super-early, at least you'll be a bit refreshed perhaps?

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 27/11/2007 20:09

Oh no - my stomach is still the same shape but my arse and thighs look like I am storing netballs in them. Most attractive. Should my belly be bigger?? Oh rats - now I've set myself off in to worry mode

All midwives should be lovely. Mine was gigantic with orange hair and purple eyes. A rather curious look I remember thinking.

icklegem · 27/11/2007 20:10

Hey ladies,

Just wanted to say thank you for your kind words and messages. Will keep popping by to see how you're all getting on!I'm too nosey

Anyway hopefully be in another "due in" forum soon, who knows?!??

Take care of yourselves and those ickle beans!

Gem xx

Minkus · 27/11/2007 20:15

PTIYPASI are you sure your midwife wasn't really a gruffalo?

sfxmum · 27/11/2007 20:18

hi Icklegem nice to see you thanks for letting us know how you are hugs to you and take care

welcome to Min and Jodie

busy day here catering for dd's social life, I of course have none

not worrying about the weight but last time put on 4st, not again am still 1st heavier than before so will be sensible this time around.
last time I panicked in the last 2months and just stuffed my face

hope you are all well tonight
esp. libralady hope ds recovers soon

cass66 · 27/11/2007 20:23

Aaargh. I feel huge today. only 6 weeks. I have expanded already. I had just lost some weight and was getting fit and enjoying exercising as it helps keep the weight off. and now I'm too queasy and tired to exercise I just feel huge. indulging in my cravings for crackers and butter isn't helping mind. Not sure I'm going to be able to keep this secret for another 6 weeks.

I know this sounds ungrateful with all that is happening to everyone else here.

keep smiling everyone. (have just eaten a plain chocolate bounty.)

Minkus · 27/11/2007 20:26

cass66 I'm with you I feel enormous too! And def not cos of weight gain as I too have been really sick so have lost weight, but just feel so bloated and puffy!

I had a scan today, had one because of bleeding about 10 days ago but things were too small to tell if all was ok or not.

Saw a little weeny heartbeat- tiny but definitely real. So pleased! Can relax a little bit now (year right as if expectant mums ever do) although the 12 weeker is still a few weeks away yet. My midwife had booked me in for the dating scan next Monday but I thought it might be a bit early, I'd only be 9+3, so checked with the sonographer today who just tutted and said that midwives sometimes didn't know what they were doing! Confirms the suspicions I'd had of the one I'm assigned to...

Have a good evening one and all
