Thanks Awen!

Will have a good look online tomorrow night when DH is out at the footy

cazzybabs · 30/10/2007 22:49

My belly button hurts...and ti looks funny! Its popped out - I am a bit screamish about it! I am a big freak with a wierd belly button!!! Roll on Dec...

becklespookle · 30/10/2007 23:52

Just popping my head in to say hi! Nothing much to add but loads of admiration for you Lizzer (and you other ladies moving - just the thought... )
Busy day today topped off with DS1's parent's evening. His teacher is very pleased with him, he is very good at Maths, Science and French (he's 7.5!) and his reading age is now 5 months ahead of his chronological age [very proud Mummy emocion]. So proud of his reading as 6 months ago he was slightly behind.
Haven't done my bags yet but will prob use rucksack for me and changing bag for baby stuff. I also think that Always pads are the best - you can get the extra long ones too now which are fab and will hopefully save me having to wear 2 at night!
MW appt tomorrow, hopefully I will get to see a nice one!

buzzybee · 31/10/2007 05:18

What a week!!! I can't quite believe it still. Hospital midwife rang around 3.30pm today to let me know the amnio did not show Downs Syndrome. While that's great news we still have to face the issue of probable heart defect and bowel blockage. I have another appointment for next Monday at the hospital where I expect they will drain more fluid and then have another look at the scan which should be easier with less obstructing fluid. The OB spent about 15 mins looking at the heart on Monday but was unable to zoom in close because of the fluid.

Also, the test results today were only a "fish" test - the definitive results take another 2 weeks. But these further results relate to other very rare conditions like Edwards Syndrome, not Downs, so fingers crossed that will be all OK.

Thanks so much again for all your support. Yay for Mumsnet!!

Am also feeling quite a bit more comfortable with less fluid and hopefully this will even more the case after next Monday. Also LO's kicks feel much stronger - quite weird, realise I'd got used to feeling her kick only through loads of fluid.

Bouncingturtleskulls · 31/10/2007 07:25

Hello everyone!
Buzzybee - well at least you have some positive news, let's hope that the bowel/heart defects turn out to be not so serious.
Did you ever come across a lady called PurpleLostPrincess? Her lo was born early with similar problems, but AFAIK, baby is doing really well. Might be worth looking for her and having a chat?
I've written to my boss & HR manager to ask to bring my m/l forward due to the amount of stress I'm under. Am concerned that if I keep being subjected to such stress there is a risk of going into premature labour. When I was upset on Monday, felt as though could hardly breathe and my tummy muscles felt tight and sore as well. So very worried. Been okay since, but I just can't afford another episode like that. Should here today.
Raspberry Leaf Tea - I'm pretty sure someone said on here from about 36 weeks.

insywinsyspider · 31/10/2007 07:49

good for you bouncingturtle, sounds like a really good idea

buzzy - still sounds like you have a wait to find out exactly whats going on but its very positive how they can pick up these things early. Draining of fluid sounds scarey, glad its made you more comfortable

cazzybabes - belly buttons are weird aren't they, I hate the way I can see mine through my top, bizarely a bloke at work asked me if my belly button was connected to the baby's now ??!! some people just never paid attention in biology did they!

Amani · 31/10/2007 08:17

Morning all,

How are you all today? Half way through the week until Friday!!!

Lizzer - good luck with the mover

Loucee - I wasn't keen on the hospital maternity pads as they had no sticky bit on the bottom of it to keep it stuck on your knickers! The first time I used it, it felt like it was going to slide out when I walked.

Cazzybabes - My belly button has a dark patch around it now..

Beckle - good news about your DS progress. You must be a proud mummy

buzzybee - have my fingers crossed for you hun.

Bouncing - defo important to put your health first and leave early for that important rest and 'me' time before the baby is born

Anyone else's wedding ring beginning to feel tight??

Can you believe that from tomorrow we can say we are 'due next month'!

loucee · 31/10/2007 08:33

Morning

Amani - I was sharing that thought just now when I was making a bowl of sweets up for the trick or treaters later on, I feel much happier being able to say to anyone who asks when the baby is due "next month"!!!!!!!!
My rings are very tight too, have stopped wearing my engagement and eternity ring. My watch is also tight on so I only wear it in the mornings.

Buzzybee - excellent news that the results rule out downs. I hope the scan goes well next week and that they can give you a much better idea of what your wee one has.

I'm sorry I always seem to complain about something but this morning woke up with awful stomach ache and have had a funny tummy ever since. I hope it's just a passing thing as remember I had that when I went into labour with DD

Amani · 31/10/2007 08:46

Loucee - with this pregnancy I see to have developed a bit of a sensitive stomach and find that I have sickness etc more often then when I was not pregnant.

skidaddle · 31/10/2007 08:55

Morning all,

buzzybee - great that it is good news so-far and fingers crossed for you with the next round of tests. This must be such a rollercoaster for you - you sound like you are doing brilliantly

beckle - well done to your ds1 with his reading and everything else. I used to test children's reading ages as part of my research and I know how stressful it can be for the parents. Hope he's feeling very proud of himself!

Lizzer - good luck with the move and look forward to hearing from you when you're all settled in (and thank you for letting us know , otherwise we might have started to panic!)

bouncing - quite right to start trying to take it easy and yes, RLT is from 36 wks

Hi dazed and bambino - ages since you've been on

skidaddle · 31/10/2007 08:56

loucee - yes me too - I have had quite a few bad tummy attacks this time round - sometimes have suspected that I'm going into early labour as the cramps feel similar... lying down my side and resting usually helps - if you can

loucee · 31/10/2007 09:47

that's reassuring for me Amani and Skidaddle, it made me panic a little and has motivated me to really try and get the house ship shape before the weekend (in that I mean the piles of washing put away, general junk sorted out etc, not a show home by any stretch of the imagination!).

Beckle, too right to be proud mummy, your DS has done really well.

Beanstermummy · 31/10/2007 10:58

Hi Guys

Not been around for ages I know - hope things are all ok with you all.

We'' I'm now completely finished at work thank God and intend to spend the next week or so trying to get over nasty chest infection I've had for the last week or so - on the mend though already.

Realised this morning that as my due date is 30th Nov it is now less than a calendar month until Button should pop out!! How scary is that - can't belive just how quickly the last 7 months have gone from when Caz10 (I think) first started this thread?

Anyway - hope everyone out there is haveing a good time of it - only draw back with not being at work is that I'm not on line all day so less chances to catch up and post hello's to folks.

Until later then

skidaddle · 31/10/2007 10:59

loucee - was your DD early? You never know it could be the beginnings... at least we know that our babies will be OK if born now

You best get cleaning, just in case...

skidaddle · 31/10/2007 11:01

hi beanster! hope your chest infection gets better soon and at you having finished work. Saying that, although I am officially at work, I have just spent the last hour on the phone to my mum and am now off to have coffee and biscuits so I'm not suffereing too much!

loucee · 31/10/2007 11:27

Skidaddle - your work loads sounds fab today . DD was 3 days late so I don't think this one will be early even though everyone tells me I look 9 months pregnant (oh how I am SOOO used to that now! Wait til I get bigger thats what I reply now!).

Not long for your now Beanster, hope you get over the infection soon, so frustrating not being able to take many remedies whilst pregnant

Amani · 31/10/2007 11:33

Get well soon Beanster. So fed up with work and people trying to get me to EVERYTHING before I go...

Amani · 31/10/2007 11:34

They don't seem to want to leave anything for my mat cover to do...

skidaddle · 31/10/2007 11:41

that's really unfair of them amani - stand your ground

Amani · 31/10/2007 11:52

Well I'm telling people I'll do it when I can - hard training someone AND doing your own work..

If I have 12 chocolate bars for lunch it's not my fault....

becklespookle · 31/10/2007 11:55

Thanks for all your congrats for DS1! I am very proud of him as he is obviously trying hard to improve - 6 months ago he was behind his age for reading .
I seem to have a lot of funny tummies too Loucee and seem to remember getting more towards the end with the DSs too. I had 2 people (who I know quite well too) ask me yesterday if I was sure it was not twins (sigh). I need a T-Shirt with 'there's only one' or something written on it!

Had MW this morning and she was quite nice. I had to ask for heartbeat check and for her to check baby's position (quite that at 32 weeks they don't automatically check actually). Baby was head down this morning (yay!) and am measuring about half a week ahead now (was 1 1/2 ahead last time) although took her a few times with the tape measure to get a measurement!

becklespookle · 31/10/2007 12:02

Oh, I asked about my iron levels today and they are 8.7 and should be at least 10. The MW seemed fairly concerned and told me to make sure I took the tablets etc. Does anyone know what affects anaemia has on the baby? I don't want to google as it usually makes me panic!

skidaddle · 31/10/2007 12:02

that's good news beckle that you're not measuring very big anymore - wouldn't a little 7lb-er be nice?

I get the 'are you sure it isn't twins?' all the time too. It is always immediately followed by, 'oh it's just because you're so slim' which is their way of trying to make up for calling me huge - maybe they should just keep it buttoned in the first place!!

Beanstermummy · 31/10/2007 12:03

Amani I just spent the last few days before I finished sorting things out I felt needed doing - tying up lose ends etc - if it helps do a handover to do list - I found simply writing the bullet points down as a status check helped me realise what I needed to finish and what actions etc could be handed over - whether they like it or not!

DD has skippe doff to nursery today dressed as a scary spider - how cute - still llike the pumpkin from last year though - jsut made me realise how much she has grown up in a year though

Loucee - what's with the not allowed menthol thing either - I knew about alcohol, cheese, pate, shellfish (ie everything yummy in the world) but no-on ever mentioned life's necessities such as Lemsip flu plus!! Hot Ribena and tuna mayo sarnies have been the fave recently - more so though due to the fact I'm at home and it would involve far too much effort to get dressed and go to the shop for chocolate!!!! Have made appointment for haircut tomorrow though (about time as it's been over a year!! - blessed with never getting split ends) - decided enough was enough though! Anyone else got plans for soemthing for themselves before bumps arrive? thnking of massage/manicure - the works but can't really justify cost - mind yoyu - birthday in 2 weeks so could possibly wangle it that way - ............

skidaddle · 31/10/2007 12:06

beckle - that is quite low. I have low iron generally and have been anaemic quite a lot in the past (pre pg as well as during) - as far as I know it won't affect your baby but will make you feel run down, tired and prone to fainting. Last time my iron levels were around 8 when I went into labour and they made me go into hospital for the birth (was planning a homebirth) but not quite sure why low iron would mean they wanted you in hospital (I had other probs as well so it might not have been to do with the iron) -

Not sure how helpful that was! Hopefully someone else will know a bit more than me..
