Morning!

Yes, I am also sick of my house! At the moment we have piles of junk everywhere. Have a sideboard in living room and 3 out of 5 drawers are stuffed with dh's work stuff(from his old job)-most of which he hasn't even looked at since we moved. I've now threatened him to sort through it or I will-and that means most of it will go!
DD's room is a tip and her clothes and toys are already overtaking it so god knows how we are going to fit all the baby stuff in there too. It's really stressing me but it's a bit too daunting to undertake. Really need to get a move on though otherwise we'll still be living in a disorganised pit when baby gets here.

Am making lists at the moment, so far i have (this is my list of lists!):
Things to do around house
Things I need from my parent's loft for baby
Xmas Card list
Xmas pressie list
Birth announcements list
Names list (so far this one is still pretty much empty-eek).

Like someone else said earlier, I have forgotten to factor xmas into our budget. Lucky dh will get his first (bigger) paycheck from new job at end of november so we should be able to use that-we were planning on saving the difference so we'll be able to buy a house sometime but will have to use some of the first months for xmas instead.

Amani - they give you some drug to relax your tummy (which is very wierd - it means you really can see every little bump and squirm the baby makes as it is as if you had no tummy muscles!), then hook you up to a monitor as they need to make sure the baby is not in distress throughout the procedure. Then the consultant will basically get hold of the baby through your stomach and literally try to force it to turn! We got half way with dd and then she ducked under the consultant's hands to get back into her preferred position. After trying both ways - and me in agony - they agreed she wasn't going to turn. Others I know though have had a better time of it and their babies turned relatively easily.
Btw you have to go in with hospital bag and be prepared for an emergency c/s in case the baby does get distressed.

Amani · 30/10/2007 10:53

yikes! that's sounds a little scary.

Amani · 30/10/2007 10:53

In that case I'll be cleaning all the skirting boards to help the LO turn.

mixedmama · 30/10/2007 11:09

Morning everyone...

Insy thanks for that will take a look.

Everything pretty much the same my end.... meant to say our LO is head down but keep forgetting to say when we discuss it.

Not much to say so will loiter for a bit.

insywinsyspider · 30/10/2007 12:28

well its quite on here today - I've just spilt orange juice on my bump on a white top so will look properly stupid for the rest of the day

nothing happening here at all - this is the first day when i thought i don't think I can do this job for 5 more weeks and can't believe I have 7 (or 9!) more weeks to go - so tired.... how on earth do i cope with 2?? ds is waking it at exactly 5.50am since he was ill, can't work out how to retrain him to 7am again!

mixedmama · 30/10/2007 12:43

My Ds has taken to waking up about 4.00 (today) 5.00 am. I think because we have ahd soem early mornings. I am just going to wait till mat leave (30 Nove woo hoo) and then get on with getting him into a good routine for baby etc.

mixedmama · 30/10/2007 12:44

oh and i consistently spill stuff on white tops

Ambi · 30/10/2007 12:53

Ouch turning the baby sounds horrible, I hope it doesn't come to that, starting to worry I don't have my bag packed yet, 34 days to go now . Countdown on til friday though...M/L

insywinsyspider · 30/10/2007 13:05

just marked in my diary to pack my hosp bag at 36 wks... hope thats plenty of time

mm - I'm not sure I'd make it till end of nov to train him, its hard now can't imagine I'll have any energy left by then!

Amani · 30/10/2007 13:13

I've nearly packed my hospital bag - just a few bits and bobs to buy and I've got to remember to put my glasses, a few toiletries and snacks before I leave for the hospital. I've taped put a huge note on my bag to remind me what goes in last minute so I don't forget.

MM - why don't you try putting your DS to sleep later - maybe he might wake up later??

lol at insy and clumsyness - sounds like something I would do...!

Imawurzelthatlookslikeapumpkin · 30/10/2007 13:15

Got my next appt on 5th. I am the right length for my dates apparently. So thats good.
Hows yours going awen?
What type of bag do i need to pack everything into?
A normal going away weekend bag? Do i need a seperate one for baby?
Clueless!!!!
How about a mini suitcase on wheels?

skidaddle · 30/10/2007 13:20

at ambi's ML!!

Decided last night after another wave of awful cramps, feeling sick and crying I was so tired that i am being ridiculous with what I am expecting of myself (leave house before 7am and back for 6pm on working days, walk 4 miles a day to and from work at high speed)- that together with DD waking up 4 or 5 times a night because she's teething, of course I'm knackered. So have decided to take it a bit easier, get in for 9ish, if I feel tired I will just go home - can't believe it's taken me that long to realise something so obvious [dense cow emotion]

sympathies insy and MM with your dss' early waking too

caz10 - that's exactly the sort of thing I do - watch a tragic documentary and then get myself all upset - it is so so rare though - hope you're feeling better

hi housemum and everyone else

FrankAwenstein · 30/10/2007 13:21

Baby is doing well. Had scan last monday and he was estimated as 3 1/2 lb then. Slightly larger than average but not as big as ds1 was at same stage. Re hopsital bags I got this at weekend. Is perfect as larger case for stay (not huge, hand luggage size), middle one as labour bag and little one for toiletries.

here

nappyaddict · 30/10/2007 13:26

i know i shouldn't really do this but does anyone need any baby stuff still cos i've got tonnes!!

skidaddle · 30/10/2007 13:27

imawurzel - i'm just using an old hold-all, baby stuff and me stuff all in together

mixedmama · 30/10/2007 13:47

Amani - he has only started doing this since we got up early for a week because we had mega early starts. He just comes into our bed and goes back to sleep and I am awake anyway. He seems to have slipped back into going to sleep about 8.30 - 9.00 now anyway, wouldnt want him up later than that really.

Problem is our flat is tiny so as soon as DH gets up for work or whatever DS gets up, am thinking of shutting his door, he can open it, but it is a heavy fire door so dont wnat him to hurt himself or anything, plus who knows what he might get up to when he wakes up.

I finished my hospital bag at the weekend... just need to add night clothes, but still wearing them so difficult. All ready to go tho.

Imawurzelthatlookslikeapumpkin · 30/10/2007 13:52

I've got a hold all type bag i can use.
And a bit of a smaller one that i use for hand luggage on planes, i'll prob use thatt for baby stuff. Ooh, thats if all nappies, wipes, lotion, clothes etc fit in.
Is that about it for baby stuff to take?
How many nappies do you reckon?
We don't live far from hospital so DH could always come back and get anything we've missed.
Need a check list of stuff to take!!Me and bubs.

Amani · 30/10/2007 13:55

Gosh skid - how do you manage to walk 4 miles a day??
Imawuzel - I've got a medium sized rolly suitcase which is just right for all my stuff and LO.

Anyone else who is working finding that people are pushing more in your direction with a 'If you can just do this before you go on maternity leave?' I've got just over 5 weeks still to go and it's started.

My work still expect me to be able to do tonnes!! I work in a spar shop and it's crazy what they expect me to still be able to do!!
I have started saying no, cant do that, and grab someone else to do it.
But i don't want others to start getting irate with me.

mixedmama · 30/10/2007 13:58

since i do nothing anyway no one at work has bothered me... altho something funny happened yesterday -

a strange woman i have never seen before stopped me int he corridor to ask how far gone i was. she was a very large woman and i was a bit flummoxed as to why this stranger stopped me turns out she is preg also but i hadnt noticed.

Amani · 30/10/2007 14:01
