Perhaps it'll be ok after hallowe'en?

Blackcatswizzskas · 28/10/2007 09:34

Buzzy and all you others with uncomfortable nights, I'm the same. I bought a memory foam topper for our bed hoping it would help. It has made it worse. I've hardly slept since putting it on on Friday. Today I'm a walking wreck, and the extra hour was lost on me, it was an extra hour of torture. Every muscle aches. This morning I took the darned thing off again and hopefully I'll sleep tonight. I hope I will be able to use it after LO is born and my body goes back to normal-ish.

cazzybabs · 28/10/2007 09:41

ha - it had better be

(else I may not pay the plumbers)

thelady · 28/10/2007 10:43

Cazzy - the noise can be because the valve is on the 'wrong' side of the radiator - return and not flow IIRC. Total PITA and I'm not sure what you do other than growl at it and turn it up/down until it stops. Our last flat had every single radiator plumbed in backwards and the noise was horrible.

macdoodle - I filled in a paper MA form and sent it in with my MAT1B more than a month ago. I've heard nothing, and am getting a little twitchy, but my accountant said that they would have all the tax etc. forms, and what they used to calc what you were due was your 'voluntary' NI contributions.

macdoodle · 28/10/2007 11:39

Oh god the lady I hope it doesn't take that long am leavig in 6 weeks yipeeee - will still be taking my profit share but will have to subsidise my replacement (who costs more than I draw from the partnership)..we do get some government help to cover her but not nearly enough so am depending on the MA to cushion the blow so at least will end up with half my usual drawings yikes ...might end up owing the partnership money ...that would be bloody great

claireybee · 28/10/2007 14:11

I also have painful hips-mainly the left one cos when i was pregnant with dd i was religious about sleeping on my left side and it hadn't yet recovered before i got pregnant again. Then i found that sleeping with a thick duvet under the sheet helped slightly, but didn't make a huge difference. i also find my shoulders ache when i lie on the same side for too long, but not as much as my hips.

I dug out my nhs pregnancy book last night cos i suddenly got excited about having a baby! Getting close now... In one way i can't wait but at the same time I wish I had more time to enjoy the pregnancy cos I know i'll miss it afterwards (and dh is adamant there will be no more )

cazzybabs · 28/10/2007 14:38

I am a bit sad too about not much longer to be pregnant...mind you as the dds were in fine form in the car today I was thinking OMG 3 of them!!!!!!!!!

WEnt for a walk in the woods today which was lovely, although a little wet and windy. But now am tired. AND back to work tomorrow

thelady · 28/10/2007 15:42

Going to phone the benefits people on Monday - they processed the other forms fast enough so I want some reassurance! I sent everything Special Delivery too, so no excuses about not receiving the stuff.

I'm jealous of the drawings BTW - we've had nothing from this partnership for 3 years (as expected) and just as we're starting to break even we need to fund a replacement for me. Poor DH is exhausted as he's doing an awful lot of what I'd normally be responsible for.

Blackcatswizzskas · 28/10/2007 16:09

I don't think I'll miss being pregnant at all. I'll miss the peace and quiet of it being just me and DH, but I'm sure I'll love having a little boy around. Am getting pretty fed up with being up the duff actually. I hate aching all the time and feeling really cumbersome. Our old photos keep flashing up on our computer screen and I look at old pictures of myself being active and thin and it feels like I'll never be like that again.

macdoodle · 28/10/2007 16:18

I hate being pregnant hated it last time hate it this time....my body is not mine out of control tired sick no energy ugh...only good part is the little thing you end up with at the end....any other 2nd/3rd (or more)timers getting terrified of the actual birth again....am starting to remember and think oh shit it really hurt
My business slightly different to yours thelady, in that although I am self employed we are government paid although my partners do NOt ahve to let me continue to draw my profit share (so am grateful) however I think they know if they didn't I would more likely not go back ......we have been together 4-5 years now and have quite a good successful partnership so to keep all of us happy....just hope my replacement doesn't cost us tooo much or I will be skint and the partners will not be happy

loucee · 28/10/2007 19:55

Hi everyone

Aches and pains - I'm getting them too, find staying in bed horrible some nights but have found a very warm bath just before bed is really helping to relax my muscles.
Macdoodle - yes I was getting more and more nervous about birth but have started reading a hypnobirthing book (was going to do the course as well but have had to drop out as DH couldn't attend 2 of the 4 classes and it was nearly £300) and although it doesn't teach you self hypnosis it does keep re-inforcing the fact that our bodies were designed to do this.. have babies. I find it quite a positive read which is helping to put put my fears to the back of my mind.

Had a really horrible sharp tearing pain in the top left of my bump this afternoon, DD was really upset so picked her up then twisted round to get a tissue - I hope it's just a pulled muscle but panicked me a little.

33 wks tomorrow - yay!!! I'm really excited and although I have enjoyed being pregnant I wont miss being pregnant.

Insy - are you around? I opened the P&T fully to show MIL but now I've strapped it and zipped it back up the top bit (the bit that is like a lip when it's in doubles mode with a newborn) doesn't look right... any tips?!

insywinsyspider · 28/10/2007 20:27

evening - well i couldn't post till i'd turned the format back to something I understood - when did that happen?

loucee - no idea about the P&T, I'm yet to take mine down like that, I found the zips at the side too a while to loosen up, I've just pointed out one with a newborn in to my mum rather than faff with it - sounds like I should get some practise

claraq - i heard somewhere that the moon cycle can have something to do with when babies are born, someone somewhere did some research to see if babies are statisically more likely to be born around a full moon... not sure the outcome, maybe I'll google it at work tomorrow

just got rid of in-laws (long weekend!) and am resisting the urge to rearrange the lounge - anyone else getting relly p*ssed off with their house, everything seems dirty and cluttered in mine (obviously that excludes suey and lizzer who are moving!)

as for sleeping - after my massage on friday (thanks for tip buzzy as massage person had no idea about pg and just looked scared when I came in, she was probably worried I'd have the baby there and then) I slept like a log, no such luck last night back to norm and ds obviously didn't appreciate the 'extra' hour in bed this morning!

back to work tomorrow last 4 day week 5 wks left before ML

becklespookle · 28/10/2007 20:57

Hi all, hope you have had a good weekend. I too have been suffering with the lack of sleep thing . SPD seems to be giving me pain again and is particularly sore at night. Have fallen twice this weekend too, not far as both times I had squatted down to get something and then lost my balance and ended up on my bum! Highly embarrassing and undignified (did it today in the cinema trying to get some pick-n-mix sweets . DS1 said "don't worry Mum, I'll get the low ones for you" - bless him!).
On the plus side I am loving feeling baby-bits poking out of my belly. When I was in bed last night baby had turned breech so I could feel (and see) its head poking out, I was just resting my hand on it and I felt a little movement by it which I think was baby's hand up by its face! Makes me feel all emotional, am soo looking forward to meeting this LO in December! Very of those of you with 5 weeks or less to go!
Thelady, I am not self employed but did need to do the MA form as I do not get mat pay from work (don't earn enough). I took mine into local benefits office and they told me there was a bit of a delay at the moment with processing the forms, about 9 weeks! Don't know if that is just for my area but definitely worth chasing yours up! Only put mine in a week ago as work took their time giving me the SMP1 form I needed (grr) so baby could well be here before they sort it out!
Macdoodle, am definitely worrying about the birth - I can still remember the pain with DS2 and can't say I am looking forward to it! Worry too that this one will be really big and get stuck or something (DS1 did a bit), most people I know who have had 3 babies say the 3rd was considerably larger than the others!

loucee · 28/10/2007 22:15

Thanks anyway Incy My inlaws were also round today for lunch and the place was a mess when they left! Our house needs a good thorough clean too, hoping to get that done week after next. My favourite product at the moment is the Magic Eraser! I take a chunk of it and go round all the white bits in the house (window ledges, seals, doors, skirting etc) and everywhere looks really good afterwoods but for minimum effort!

Beckle - oh yes had forgotten the bit about each baby getting larger. DD was 7lbs 4oz so hopefully this one wont be too much bigger.
DD was back to back and have been reading lots of posts about this on here, hope this one isn't b2b but sounds like it might be the shape of my womb that makes the baby like this.

Totally forgotten my pelvic floors this weekend, must do more next wk!

buzzybee · 29/10/2007 04:31

Sorry ladies, this is not a happy post don't read on if you don't feel up to it.

Had my consult today and the consultant (same one as last time and just as bad) is pretty sure the reason I have excess amniotic fluid is a blockage in the bowel. She also thinks she can see a heart defect which wasn't picked up at the earlier scans. The long and the short is that these are clsssic signs of Down's Syndrome. I had the amnio today - partly to confirm this and partly to drain off some of the fluid to make me more comfortable and should find out the result on Wed.
I'm feeling reasonably philosophical about it - I have known after all for a while that there was a risk. TBH I'm more scared about the heart/bowel issues.
Luckily my lovely MW came with me and I will call her tonight for another chat. However, while I'm sure she will offer support I don't believe she's ever experienced this situation.
Apparently I should go back in about 2 weeks and they will drain more fluid as that is likely to be an ongoing problem. They still want me to have a natural labour and to go full term etc. But I will also see a paedeatric surgeon before she's born to get a better idea of what to expect. Its not likely she'd need surgery immmediately but will likely go into the neonatal unit for observation.

Bouncingturtleskulls · 29/10/2007 06:52

Oh Buzzy . What a worry for you! Have you spoken to anyone on the SN boards? There are lots of mum's on their who have DS kids, and had to go through the worries of discovering heart and other defects, so they may be able to give you some useful advice on what to expect, plus positive outcomes as well.
We're all here for you anyway {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

insywinsyspider · 29/10/2007 08:01

hi buzzy - sorry to hear your news even though the mw may not have a clue I hope it helps to have someone to talk it through with and as bouncingturtle says the SN message board may help and we're all here to listen x

Amani · 29/10/2007 08:12

Morning all

Cazzybabes/beckle - what an amazing experience with baby poking like that. LO kicks really hard sometimes and I can see my whole tummy moving (more like wobbling though)

Buzzy - am having the same problem as you, can't lie on my back and it feels so uncomfortable lying on my side....Just read your posting regarding the hospital appointment. > Agree with Councing about looking at the SN board and speaking to someone knowledgeable who maybe to offer support and advice.

Amani · 29/10/2007 08:12

Councing=Bouncing

skidaddle · 29/10/2007 08:22

Oh buzzy
Sounds like you are being really positive about it though which is fantastic for you and your baby. How sure are they that it's Down's and did they give you any more info about the bowel and heart? Hopefully the bowel and heart problems will be relatively minor and can be put right.

How are you feeling now that you've had time to digest the info? Great that your mw is so supportive and hope you can surround yourself with other supportive people while it's all sinking in. Going onto the sn boards here is a great idea, and I'm sure there are organisations near you that can help too. And of course we are all here too.

((((hugs))))

loucee · 29/10/2007 08:57

Buzzy, I'm sorry you've received this news and that you've had to go through the amnio etc, I hope the midwife can give you good support and most importantly be there for you until you have the results. As skidaddle says we are all here for you and I'd like to do everything I can to help you through this time.
You're a strong woman and your baby is very lucky to have you as their mum.

fifisworld · 29/10/2007 09:22

Buzzy, sorry your going through this
We are all hear to help/listen if you need anything.

Hope everyone else is ok
I had my second iron infusion on friday but they didnt get my blood results back in time to see if my levels had risen from last time i went, so i wont know anything until i go this week. I still dont feel any different though.

6 weeks to go ds2 will be out
It's quite sad to think i wont be pg again as this is our last one, but i wont miss the uncomfortablness

claraq · 29/10/2007 09:27

Oh Buzzy this must be such a worrying time, not knowing exactly what it going on. I know you have been thinking about d/s for a while so hopefully you will be ready for whatever the outcome. And whatever that outcome is, you will still have a beautiful baby girl.

claraq · 29/10/2007 09:29

fifi - sorry the iron transfusions (?) don't seem to be making any difference. It must be nice to have a date though, something to focus on. I certainly found this easier last time.
I know what you mean about missing being pregnant. Although I feel soooo uncomfortable most of the time and can't wait to meet the baby now, I will certainly miss this very special time when it is just me and the baby. And we're not planning any more either, which makes it harder, thinking I will never feel these little life-confirming kicks inside me again.
Oh oh I'm getting emotional now.

skidaddle · 29/10/2007 09:50

hello everyone else

beckle/caazybabs - i have been getting that recently too - could almost grab the baby's hand/foot he sticks it out so much. Have been having a few probs with DH though as I just CAN'T be having sex when i can actually SEE my baby's hand poking out. I know it is usually the man who gets freaked out by 'doing it with an audience' but it just seems wrong!

macdoodle and other 2nd timers - I have been told that the agony of childbirth comes flooding back very vividly a few days or weeks before you go into labour. I have been completely fine about it this time (minus one little blip) and am just waiting for it all to come back to me. As far as I remember it didn;t really hurt that much and was fine so I know I'll be in for a bit of a rude awakening...

claraq- how come you're not having anymore if you feel so sad that this is the last time you'll be pg?
