mixedmama · 26/10/2007 16:57

am off. have a nice weekend everyone.

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 16:58

Oh MM I can't even bear to tell you what it's on, it's so boring

I imagine I would have looked something like this had I chosen a bikini as a wedding dress (with maybe a little bit of a bigger bump) just to help your dream along...

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 17:02

(not really)

Ambi · 26/10/2007 17:07

Nice Skid - that's how I reckon I'll look when I leave the hospital!!!

Ambi · 26/10/2007 17:07

If only.....

thelady · 26/10/2007 20:39

skidaddle - all research is boring if you're the one doing it!

Bouncingturtleskulls · 27/10/2007 09:51

Morning everyone!
Hope you are all well and have lots of exciting things planned for the weekend! The Ceilidh was lots of fun! But no I didn't get up to dance!

As to urine samples, I keep a little plastic bowl in the bathroom cabinet especially for this, much easier than peeing into a little tube!
MM - I used to have toric monthly lens, had terrible trouble with them, difficulty getting them in and then not being able to line them up properly. Still planning on laser surgery one day!

thelady · 27/10/2007 11:53

New lenses for astigmatism are, apparently, weighted so they settle into the correct angle in your eye - I have an aunt and uncle who swear by them.

Blackcatswizzskas · 27/10/2007 12:09

Morning all.

Terrible sleep last night, have got absolutely no energy to do anything today. Am going to make a steak pie tonight and get some spatone or floradix and try to get my iron levels up a bit. I think I'll have a rest this afternoon and watch the horse racing , might put a couple of bets on.

Bouncingturtleskulls · 27/10/2007 12:58

Well I had the first good nights sleep in ages, probably because I was so utterly exhausted after a long week that I could barely see straight!
Starting to feel tired again now though....

Curlygirly · 27/10/2007 13:04

Afternoon all.
Stuck here at work for another hour and it is so boring. Only 2 more weeks to go. Yay!

Blackcat - is spatone a liquid? Took Floradix in last pregnancy but it was foul. Am taking iron tablets this time but they are useless.

mixedmama · 27/10/2007 13:13

Hey ladies,

Yeah the optician was telling me about the corrective lenses, might give them a go.

Skid.. I look lke that all the time dont you know.

Blackcatswizzskas · 27/10/2007 14:20

Yes Curly - its a liquid. It isn't as strong in flavour as floradix. I've just had a sachet in some orange juice and it doesn't have a very strong taste although they do warn you on the packet that you might taste it a bit.

Caz10 · 27/10/2007 15:59

I can vouch for laser surgery - amazing!! having said that it was a terrifying and quite painful experience and I am still scared I'll go blind in 10yrs time! But all worth it so far!

Had a v bizarre experience last night, baby was kicking so hard out into the palm of my hand I'm sure I could have grabbed it's little foot if I'd tried! 1st time I've really been aware of an actual body part as opposed to just random squirming and kicking!

Also met an adorable 8wk old who was so contented and breast feeding with no effort like a wee angel...has given me hope that I can do this!

macdoodle · 27/10/2007 21:27

Quick question for those self employed mums (Suey?)...just filled the MA form in online .and though it is a big long bloody form as far as I can see if I have been paying self emplyed NI contributions, they only need the form and my MatB1 cert ..is this right do they not need any tax returns etc?? Assumably they have records of tax paid etc..Can it not be submitted electronically does it need to be printed out and sent off??
Or am I being pregnant brain dense??

cazzybabs · 27/10/2007 21:53

Oh god - I can't cope with the new format to MN 0 I kept reading the 1st page and wondering why no-one had posted anything for ages! AHH pregnancy brain...

I am back from a week with my parents - back to dust and dirt and lack of working power sockets. The plumbers have mostly finished (except the radiator in our room is soooo noisey - a real odd noise I have never heard before), the electrians have just made a mess (as far as I can tell, although we do know have a couple of working sockets and lights upstairs) and the builders have knocked down walls and put of steel beams and a new door.

My god I am feeling fat - went bowling today and looked in the full lengh mirror in the ladies toilets and my thighs seem to have tripled in size . Baby has been very active - sometimes it is quite paninful when it moves. Only 5 weeks to go - horrah. Mind you I am quite grateful I haven't started my maternity leave yet as can be at work and aviod the builders/plumbers/electrians.

Ohh held my freinds monster 7 week old baby - I WANT ONE!!!!! (especially if its a blue one - mond you as long as it is healthy I won't complain and I don't tear I won't complain!).

buzzybee · 28/10/2007 01:43

Anyone else have this problem - if I lean forward its really uncomfortable, but if I lean back I start feeling sick/faint which I know is the weight pushing on some sort of artery or something?

At night I can't lie on my back due to above-mentioned faint-ness problem but if I lie on my sides I get really sore hips (even with a pillow under the bump).

Help!!!!! I've still got 8 weeks to go... those of you due early Dec! I read that 37 weeks is considered full term from a baby development perspective so am really hoping she pops out at 37+1....

SarahPT · 28/10/2007 08:34

Hi Buzzybee
I'm having the same fun sleeping
Currently have about 5 pillows under my head otherwise I get heartburn but lying in one place for too long gives me a sore right hip, whether I lie on my back or my right or my left side.
Wedge cushion (about a tenner from m/care) under bump has helped a bit
And pillows between my knees if I lie on my side also helps but all in all it still amounts to a rubbish night's sleep
So much for that extra hours sleep last night !

Bouncingturtleskulls · 28/10/2007 08:47

Yes sore hips due to sleeping on side seems to be quite common!
So very tired too!
CAzzy - is it a knocking noise coming from your radiator? If so it may be trapped air and it will need to be bled.
IKWYM re: other people's babies, I'll hopefully be seeing my friend's next week and he'll be 7 weeks old I get sooo excited when I see babies, espcially ickle tiny ones!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 28/10/2007 08:50

Hey everyone

I had to just pop on here as Im watching baby tales on discovery and getting seriously emotional.

WE HAVE BABIES IN OUR BELLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just cant wait {sob}

Think Im mega emotional as my eldest turned EIGHT on friday - cant believe it was so long ago I was in this position with her and DS, my youngest starts staying for school dinners next week.

I'm an emotional mess!!

SarahPT · 28/10/2007 08:53

Ooh - while we're sort of on the DIY subject - has anyone used a self-adhesive wallpaper border and had problems with it staying up.
We were really chuffed on friday as got jellybean jungle (lollipop lane) border for nursery which went on fine and made room actually look like a nursery but now the %&*% thing won't stay stuck to the wall.
Anyone got any tips?

cazzybabs · 28/10/2007 09:20

Bouncingturtleskulls - yes from radiator as far as I can tell, although its more rattling than knocking and it doesn't feel like it has air in it - ie it is hot all the way to top...but I will bled it and see what happens...

claraq · 28/10/2007 09:28

Good sunday morning everyone - the weather here in the South West is horrific; DH taken DD swimming and I have to start getting lunch ready for some friends who are coming in about three hours time (hurrah for the extra hour today!).

SarahPT - sorry can't help, we never did the wallpaper thing with dd and this poor baby doesn't even have a room of its own at the moment - it'll be in with us and then stuck in the spare room until we decide if we are moving abroad or not. I am so not a DIY person I don't even have any suggestions for you!

Caz10 - I had the same feeling as you with the baby's bodypart the other day - it really brought it home to me that there is a little baby in there and not just bad wind or something! I think I have finally got to the part of my pregnancy when I am so desperate to get the baby out that even the thought of childbirth has stopped scaring me (as much).

Buzzybee - I have been uncomfortble for weeks - haven't been able to sleep on my back for at least two months. And when I sleep on my side with a pillow wedged under my leg I get cramp and wake up probably 4-5 times a night. But as you say, when you only have LESS THAN 5 WEEKS TO GO it makes it all a lot easier!

I had a horrendous dream last night that I had the baby by c/s, my husband decided not to come to the birth (!) and then was disappointed when it was a girl, and then the nurses took the baby away and wouldn't bring it back or tell me where it was - I was desperate to feed her and they kept telling me they were too busy to get her for me..... Woke up quite upset by it.

LOL at all the talk of getting married in a bikini. I got married next to the sea in Jamaica wearing shorts - but as I was 4 months pregnant at the time definitely wouldn't have done it in a bikini....

claraq · 28/10/2007 09:29

Cazzybabs - sounds like maybe your radiator is haunted?

cazzybabs · 28/10/2007 09:30

It worked fine till we got our new boiler!!!!! It keeps waking me up - I am not impressed...ghosts or not.
