Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That's reassuring guys, most of LO's hiccups seem to be felt right down in my pelvic area! Have been getting quite concerned at lack of movements in top of bump, rarely get any above the bellybutton! When I do get hiccups at the top there is usually a round lump sticking out - wonder if that is baby's head?! (have stroked it gently just in case). I am so looking forward to meeting my LO in December!

loucee · 26/10/2007 15:02

Blackcatwiskas - I think that's supposed to be the optimum position for the baby for labour (head down, spine slightly to the right).
My hiccups are also felt low down in pelvis, gives me reassurance the baby is head down.

Not sure on this new look of mumsnet, not very good with remembering what everyone has said and you lose your message if you go forward/back.

Ambi - would you consider trying to turn the baby from breech to avoid the CS?

Curlygirly · 26/10/2007 15:06

Afternoon everyone. Haven't been on here for so very long. Don't have a chance of catching up with what's been going on with everyone. Hope you won't mind me sneaking back in!

Amani · 26/10/2007 15:10

hello curlygirl

dundeemarmalade · 26/10/2007 15:11

all this talk of hiccups has reminded me that i realised the other day that i haven't had hiccups once since i've been pg, and i usually get them quite regularly.
my lo's are usually really low down and sometimes feel, if you'll pardon my frankness, like backwards farts. hilarious, i don't think.

Ambi · 26/10/2007 15:21

I thought that the change to Wizzska was a russian slant on it, but d'uh, that would have been wizzski.

Ambi · 26/10/2007 15:30

I know section is a major operation and I was dead against it at the start, (along with a hippy style idea of perfectly natural delivery) But since it being a possibility, I've pretty much warmed to the idea of knowing when and where (not keen on the waiting for labour to start esp, if it's over the due date - I like to plan) Maybe it's just my way of not being disappointed if I have a cs.

Hiya curlygirly

I like this new MN, didn't at first but the colour free makes it look like I'm reading an email (when my boss walks past) [scive emoticon]

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 15:39

hi curlygirly

ambi - I know what you mean - at least then you would know what was going to happen - waiting and wondering can drive you mad. Think I would always rather a vaginal delivery though, just because of the recovery period with a cs. Good you are resigned to it if it happens though

claraq · 26/10/2007 15:42

Ambi - I had an elective c/s last time so let me know if you have any questions if you do go down that route - including ECV. Please don't feel "disappointed" though if this is what you end up with. Don't forget, probably a quarter to a third of us will end up with a section anyway and an elective is a far better way to go than an emergency!

Btw anyone else noticed the "Moonwatch" in the top right hand corner of their screen. Now what the hell is THAT all about?

claraq · 26/10/2007 15:44

Skidd - how much of your chapter have you written today then? I am feeling slightly smug as have done the washing, kitchen, bathrooms, made some phonecalls, watched a programme I have been meaning to watch for ages and made some more Christmas cards. So feel I can be back on here until I pick up dd in half an hour. Although the computer chair is incredibly uncomfortable and is killing my back...

claraq · 26/10/2007 15:45

Oh and made up a complete Photobox album - they have two for one offers on at the moment if anyone interested.

Ambi · 26/10/2007 15:47

Plus I'd rather have stitches on a cs scar rather than vaginal scar (is that silly?) Thanks claraq, will see how it goes for the next couple of weeks - though if this baby's anything like me, she'll be a stubborn thing!!

Can anyone tell my boss has gone out for a bit? I'm on the wind down anywhoos, I finish next friday [celebrate emoticon]. Hope everyone else is ok tho, Skid - don't envy serious essay writing, I can hardly string 2 sentences together with PG brain.

Amani · 26/10/2007 15:50

Well ladies, am off in a bit. Off loaded some to my maternity cover, but have a feeling she is struggling and is still failing to grasps the basics....

Have a good weekend - might pop on and be nosy...

dundeemarmalade · 26/10/2007 15:53

hurrah hurrah have finished my marking [smug emoticon]. am now off to bed with tea and biscuit to await the lurgy which dh has been suffering from. at least i can sort of be on maternity leave now. phew.

mixedmama · 26/10/2007 15:56

Ambi was just being nosy at your profile... you got married in Maui how lovely. Looks amazing.

Ambi · 26/10/2007 16:02

MM it was fab, feels ages ago now, but only 2 years. Bloody loooong flights (33hrs) but worth it. Def. paradise. have a good weekend Amani.

mixedmama · 26/10/2007 16:18

wow 33 hours!!! i had a fab time at my wedding but sometimes i do wish i had just flitted off and got married in my bikini...

thelady · 26/10/2007 16:33

skidaddle:
The scary version is:
"The Shikimate Pathway: enzymes and antimicrobials"

The non-scary version is: we were trying to develop a new form of antibiotic which would work against pretty much anything that didn't have a backbone. So, it would be an antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic drug. Nice! Shame that 20 years of research, plus mine, didn't solve the problems with getting it to work anywhere except a test tube

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 16:39

Far too many smug emotions there dundee, claraq, ambi...
well to make you all feel better I have written ZERO words of my thesis today (but have done a couple of useful-ish other things)

amani - maybe it's a good thing your cover isn't getting it - will make you all the more valued and irreplaceable?

I was having a little peek at your photos too ambi - looks beautiful - MM maybe I should have got married in a bikini as well - it was still quite warm in September in my inlaws' back garden in Dublin, and I was only 6 months pg then...

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 16:42

(Dr)thelady-

The Shikimate Pathway - sounds like a peruvian terrorist organisation!!

Bet people don't ask you about it at dinner parties! I always find telling people what my thesis is on (which I NEVER do unless asked I hasten to add) stops a conversation dead in its tracks

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 16:46

claraq - can't stop looking at that blardy moon now - it does move doesn't it? Or am I losing it?

mixedmama · 26/10/2007 16:47

I have to ask now Skidaddle... what is it on????

Think I might be having dreams of Irsh accents and Skidaddle in a bikini 6 months preggers now.

mixedmama · 26/10/2007 16:50

Just clicked on the moon as I was intrigued.

Itcame up with a message saying we are now in full moon phase or something.

Ambi · 26/10/2007 16:54

If only I had the figure for a bikini wedding!!! I weigh less now than I did then Shockingly though I've eaten crap the whole way through - will eat better once on mat leave, part of my look after myself plan!!, stolen from MMs PN plan.
