neuro - sounds like you are, effectively, sick and should be at home. as far as i understand it (and i'm no medic) anaemia = not enough red blood cells = not enough oxygen getting in to your system, so don't push yourself! i've been on the floradix for several weeks now, twice a day. it took a few days to kick in but i no longer have to peel myself of the floor/bed/sofa.

insywinsyspider · 22/10/2007 12:47

neuro - I know what you mean about misplaced guilt, I couldn't take time off from work when I wasn't getting any sleep and had a dreadful cold as I felt to guilty but not enough iron is a different matter, it sounds like you are ill enough to justify it, I agree with suey its worth giving mw a call - then at least if she tells you to rest you don't have to make decision about not being at work
hope tablets kick in soon

Amani · 22/10/2007 12:53

Neuro - agree with the others about whether should you be at work if you are feeling exhausted.

Can't believe how many messages spring up on a week day! Am laughing at all the poo stories, with my DD I was in labour for about 35 hours and must have told them every 10 mins that I really needed a poo because I was so scared of doing it by accident. And after I had her I burst into tears and said I really do need a poo now and they told me it was my placenta coming out. Frankly I don;t know if I did one or not!

claireybee · 22/10/2007 13:03

Dundee, I think we slightly recapture it when as new mothers we tell everyone about our dc's poo. I remember thinking it was perfectly acceptable to discuss dd's explosive newborn poos!

Neuro, I think you need to take time off and rest before you get any worse. A couple of days rest could make all the difference.

I think hormones are kicking in-have started posting on the AIBU threads-normally i'm too scared to say anything in case i get shouted at. Don't think i've put anything too controversial but still...

Loucee · 22/10/2007 13:06

Hi everyone

MM - yes how crap that you were left to deal with clearing up the pieces, good on you for handling it the way you did

Neuro - the iron tablets should work quite quickly, make sure you eat enough veg and drink water though as they can make you constipated.

Skidaddle - LOL at your DD and the poo conversation

I've got a Coorie and it was brilliant for DD but yes the downside is that it doesn't fit DH so he mostly used the Babybjorn sling. That suited us as I mostly needed a sling so that DD was more lying down and could easily bfeed in. A ring sling is a similar design but adjusts for different builds so maybe that would be an alternative?

I'm 32 wks today, each week in the 30s seems so much more significant than the other weeks, I guess it's because it's really sinking in!

mixedmama · 22/10/2007 13:08

I post there all the time.... they are fun.

Neuro - you are ill hun, take the time off.

insywinsyspider · 22/10/2007 13:08

lol claireybee - I remember having one conversation just after ds was born about how much he farted! no one had ever told me that - you're right it was perfectly acceptable to discuss it

mixedmama · 22/10/2007 13:10

Ohhh I am 30 weeks this week. Makes it all seem rather imminent - coupled with the fact that i feel like this little one is going to come early.... constantly feel like i am going to go into labour... madness

Wizzska · 22/10/2007 13:23

MM - I'm 34 weeks today!!

mixedmama · 22/10/2007 13:30

It is like the home straight now isnt it.

Amani · 22/10/2007 13:31

Am 30+1 today.....roll on 30th Dec!!

becklespookle · 22/10/2007 13:33

Hi all!
Neuro, I have been put on iron tablets too, (started them Friday, still feel exhausted today though), I think they take a few days to kick in. In the meantime a few days off would not hurt you!
MM at the temp agency! Poor you and that poor temp too.

I don't think I did a poo during labour, with both boys I got a very upset stomach a few days before labour began which I think was my body's way of 'clearing out' and preparing for the birth! Don't remember post-birth poo being that awful either but did keep a jug in the bathroom and poured lukewarm water on my bits during and after weeing, really stopped the stinging of stitches.

becklespookle · 22/10/2007 13:34

30+4, Dec 27th still feels like such a long way off at the moment though!

Wizzska · 22/10/2007 13:41

My temp started today so I'm not able to post as much. It does seem more real now. I feel absolutely massive at the moment, but luckily I feel quite healthy and energised - although it does take it out of me if I have to trudge round the shops or something.

Neuro- poor you regarding your iron levels. I'd definately take a day off. You must remember you have to look after yourself. There's no point pushing yourself too hard and then being too exhausted when faced with labour and a new baby. There really are more important things than work at the moment. Just think of all the people who skive work for hangovers. Hopefully your iron supplements will kick in and make you feel brand new soon.

skidaddle · 22/10/2007 13:41

32+6 - it's nice to see it written down

fifisworld · 22/10/2007 13:44

Im 32 weeks tomorrow, its scary isnt it, especially as i know im going in at 38 1/2 weeks for my c/s, so i know i wont be going over my due date.
Im going to start sorting my hospital bag soon as well, but ive got everything washed and ready for baby.

suey2 · 22/10/2007 13:51

33+4. anyone getting a lot of nausea?

OP posts:
mixedmama · 22/10/2007 13:54

Just been sick actually suey. very annoyed.

Amani · 22/10/2007 13:56

no sickness but the movements are still quite painful.

There is a spot under my right rib cage, and everytime the baby moves/pokes in that region it really hurts!

Anyone else getting painful/really uncomfortable movement?

suey2 · 22/10/2007 13:56

poor you MM. i am trying not to- have just had a glass of milk- tends to be kill or cure for me. all i had was a slice of carrot cake and a cup of tea FGS

OP posts:
suey2 · 22/10/2007 13:58

yes amani, there is one spot on my ribs on the right that is exquisitely tender and occasionally LO gives it a real belt- makes me cry out in pain

Neuro · 22/10/2007 14:02

Aw Mixedmama that's horrid. Poor you. Hugs.

Well in desperation I've just been for a burger in Bella Pasta which is minutes from my office. I got back and asked my boss if i could just work a half day tomomorrow and explained the anaemia/palpitations/constant breathlessness (i know what to expect if i ever climb a mountain) - this is horrible. Anyway he hummed and ha'd and finally said yes. But because he's made an issue of it i think i'll just stay off for next couple of days and rest and claim it as sick. Sod him. I feel like i'm sort of drowning from the breathlessness it is so weird.

Sorry to go on about it and thanks for your support x

mixedmama · 22/10/2007 14:03

me too amani... my spot is just a little under my left breast and actually feels very bruised at times.

i have a feelig this little one is going to be much more of a handful than DS1

Neuro · 22/10/2007 14:03

And yes, last night the baby was moving in a way that felt like it's foot was pushing right on my bladder. I went to the loo 4 times in space of 15 minutes.

I'VE HAD ENOUGH NOW. WANT TO GET OFF THE ROUNDABOUT!
