@ShiningStarz yeah had a sweep on Monday at 40+5. She said I'm 1cm dilated. She thinks a second sweep will kick it off which I'm having tomorrow and an induction has been booked for Monday.

Starting to get uncomfortable now

ShiningStarz · 09/09/2020 11:59

Brilliant!! @Roxy8203 I hope the second sweep starts it all off naturally for you 🤞if not at least you know when you will be induced :)

glasha87 · 09/09/2020 12:04

@OrDis only for you mentioned it, I would have never have thought of bump balancing - how handy (bit of a disaster if she started wriggling at the wrong time mind)!
I don’t have asthma but I can imagine how pregnancy - so late in the day - would aggravate it, everything’s so squished in there I often find breathing difficult! 🙈

@Sara7455, he’s such a handsome chap! Congratulations and well done him.

Booked in for my section at 7:30am on Monday morning. I really hope everything goes okay. Getting a bit anxious now, just hope she is well.

What are the visitor policies in your hospitals?
DP is only allowed in the the caesarean and recovery room and then it’s a strict no visitor policy after that. So it’ll be just me and her. It’ll be lovely for us to bond, I’m sure but so sad for DP. They said they usually keep people in for the day of the section + 3 (all going well) but it is possible to go home on the Wednesday too, if I feel up for it 🤞🏻

ShiningStarz · 09/09/2020 12:15

@glasha87 I hope the policy isn't too strict where I am going but I won't know until we actually get checked in and enquire. I think the COVID cases being on the rise has probably meant some restrictions are back in place again 😒 although like you say good bonding time for you and baby xx

OrDis · 09/09/2020 12:21

Heard back from the doc and she suspects it’s just the baby squishing everything thats making my asthma worse, but she’s prescribed me a different inhaler which is both preventer and long-acting reliever so hopefully I won’t need to take my blue one so much. The blue reliever makes baby go hyper which isn't great when your trying to sleep lol!

glasha87 · 09/09/2020 12:26

@ShiningStarz, it’s strange that they haven’t armed us with this information beforehand, perhaps they don’t want us to worry until they have to. Hopefully it’s different for you, but if not, lots of time for you and your little person - I guess we must try and frame it as positively as possible 💕
It seems to be a nationwide thing here (Ireland) and there’s been quite an uproar about it over the last few days - as undoubtedly it’s negatively impacting all the Dads involved, and mums too. It’s a real balancing act. As the midwife said to me this morning, they don’t really know the affect Covid has on babies, so must do all they can to lessen it - naturally this has now set me off worrying more above Covid 🙈🙉
I think I need to plan out my next few days so I have less time to worry about things, lots of distractions! 😂🙈 Best of luck today 💕

glasha87 · 09/09/2020 12:27

@OrDis glad it’s just that. Again, even without asthma breathing is a struggle, so I can only imagine!

Emmy2020 · 09/09/2020 12:28

@ShiningStarz Haha that made me laugh! That is very organised!
I’d totally be the same, I’d probably end up calling them this afternoon to see what’s happening, I’m so impatient!

Emmy2020 · 09/09/2020 12:30

@Roxy8203 Hopefully it’ll happen soon for you! 🤞

ShiningStarz · 09/09/2020 12:30

@glasha87 I haven't really asked as I know it just changes from day to day. I'm going to Ulster hospital and just decided that what will be will be and no point in trying to find out until we need to. I had my Covid test yesterday and I'm sure they are waiting for the results before they call me!! 💜💗

Sara7455 · 09/09/2020 12:56

@ShiningStarz the results are normally back in a few hours so they should have them already. Hope they call you soon! Are you nil by mouth? That was the worst for me waiting for my section. It kept getting delayed so they ended up not letting me eat for nearly 24hours - I was starving!!

ShiningStarz · 09/09/2020 13:33

Hi @Sara7455 yeah I'd say they have the results by now.
The first stage is pessary for 24hrs. I can eat ok.
Still haven't heard anything, I'm going to get lunch and go for a walk and then fingers crossed :)

Sara7455 · 09/09/2020 13:36

@ShiningStarz that’s alright then! Fingers crossed they call soon!!

ChipsAreLife · 09/09/2020 14:12

@Sara7455 ah he's so gorgeous!! He really was early wasnt he. You're both troopers 🥰

@ShiningStarz good luck!!! How frustrating to be sat waiting. Is it because they need a bed free?

@glasha87 that's brilliant they keep you in for that long! I was kicked out after 24 hours. DH had an hour in recovery but couldn't visit.

Good luck to everyone I've been thinking of you all. Just been having some feeding issues and after constantly harassing midwives someone's finally bothered to check his little mouth and realise he's got tongue tie. My nipples are torn to shreds so I've had to stop feeding and am expressing, but having to use some formula as I can't keep up with his demand! Going private to get sorted so hopefully in week when nipples have healed he'll be back on it!

@MooseWL you remind me of a friend who whilst heavily pregnant at party was getting asked about her bag. She said 'oh this fucking hospital bag. Let me tell you about the bag. Nothing in here helped me during that ordeal last time so what's the point?' 😂😂😂 she's a consultant in the NHS 😅

@Roxy8203 hope that sweep gets you going tomorrow 🤞🤞

ShiningStarz · 09/09/2020 14:15

Yep @ChipsAreLife I think it's a combo of the bed and the COVID result!! Just laying on the sofa waiting!!! 🤞

ShiningStarz · 09/09/2020 14:16

@ChipsAreLife glad you persevered and got the tongue tie diagnosis!! You poor thing, I hope you heal quickly x

Roxy8203 · 09/09/2020 15:04

Thanks ladies. Been for a walk and going to get on the ball for a bit to try and shake him out.

My hospital maternity ward have a Facebook page and update on covid restrictions there. I'm allowed one visitor a day for one hour and they have to book in, that includes my other half so doesn't look like I'll be getting any other visitors if I have to stay in

MooseWL · 09/09/2020 15:20

@chipsarelife I like that reasoning 😂 I feel like everyone else is very bothered by my hospital bag. I'm honestly a very light packer and very good at last minute packing, plus I know where everything is. I'm not even 38 weeks until Friday be fiiine 😉😂

@roxy8203 how far along will you be when your induction is? 🤞🏻things get moving before.

How's everyone's head engagement? I was told at 36+4 head wasn't engaged yet and I don't feel like it's changed. Would I feel it?

@shiningstarz ahh how frustrating to be waiting around! Hope they call you today!
And that the works are nearly done!

ShiningStarz · 09/09/2020 15:22

Oh gosh @Roxy8203 that sounds crap but you'll be home before you know it!!

I phoned them and they are ringing me back in the next couple hours to tell me if there's a bed for me tonight!! 🙏🙏

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 09/09/2020 15:26

Ah here is the group! I’ve been looking for it without any success!!
We had our planned section yesterday - all went ok though was a rough one for both me and baby (not the calm planned Section experiment I had hoped for!) Hoping to possibly be able to come home tonight though they just doing some more checks on baby girl.

liquoricecravings · 09/09/2020 15:34

@MooseWL I didn't feel the head engage, but the kicks started to be on the same side each time which showed he/she had moved down. My bump dropped further down with the weight shifting lower into my pelvis too. Rotating your hips standing up or on all fours might encourage the baby to move (I did some pregnancy yoga and they were two of the positions we did. The instructor said it could help with positioning).

My midwife appointment went well and I'm going back next Wednesday to most likely have a sweep. I'm bouncing on my ball and will go for a walk soon. I'm hoping this baby comes naturally before then!

liquoricecravings · 09/09/2020 15:35

Congratulations @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee! I hope your recovery goes well and you can get some home comforts soon x

Roxy8203 · 09/09/2020 15:41

@MooseWL I will be 40+12 on the induction day. She said they book it at 12 days past to give 2 days for it to work so the baby is born before 42 weeks. So I still have 5 days to shake this baby out on his own terms.

OrDis · 09/09/2020 15:45

Congratulations @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee!! Glad you and baby girl are well, sorry it wasn't the calm experience you hoped for but glad you are both safe

glasha87 · 09/09/2020 16:36

Congratulations @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee, I hope all is okay now.

@MooseWL, my little one has apparently been engaged for a while and it did coincide with greater difficulty moving in and out of bed. I really felt like there was a head at the top of my pelvis 🙈 She was so engaged today that the OB had to scan to ensure the head was engaged as she couldn’t feel it. The pelvic sensation isn’t constant, just if I’ve been lying in one position too long or overly active.

To echo @liquoricecravings I think my already low carrying bump became even lower.

@Roxy8203, that’s what I was presuming was policy here: The approach in Ireland seems overly severe.

@ShiningStarz, you are so patient! Hopefully things will get rolling today. How far gone are you?

@ChipsAreLife, your posts are so reassuring. It’s great to here from someone who has been through it that keeping us in for that amount of time is good. I do hope to get home on the Wednesday but it is comforting to know the support is there if needed too.

I’ve heard great things about private lactation consultants. Things have come so far since I had DD1 - I hadn’t a clue what I was doing and my nipples were so sore but somehow we managed for six months 🙈
Colostrum is pretty low on the ground still so I’ve accepted that I may need to supplement but will be doing lots of time on the breast if so. Best of luck with it all. I’ve heard of people reestablishing feeding after quite some time so I’m sure it will be successful ❤️
