@LatteLover12 hopefully you won’t be sore too much longer. Glad DP was there to help overnight at least!

@ShiningStarz that sounds great! Hopefully you’ll enjoy it when the time comes, blankets and a buggy raincover for baby a must in November! Most of them love being outside pushed about in the buggy and watching mummy jump around

HugeAgeGap · 08/10/2020 07:17

@WillowT I was exactly the same. I got one nipple super cracked and sore, so I just breastfed off the other, then the sore one got really rock hard full of milk so I expressed off that using the haaka suction cup everytime i breastfed the Other side and carried on like that until it was better, it only took about 48hrs before the cracks healed enough to latch on again.

I fed the expressed milk as top ups as she lost weight anyway. That worked really well for me and I didn't feel a failure at all so anything u can do to carry on I think it's amazing :-)

HugeAgeGap · 08/10/2020 07:23

@MooseWL it sounds like your doing brilliantly! When we went in for the weigh ins we would literally feed and/or do the top up just before going in so that she was at her heaviest! So it's worth trying to coordinate that together today if u can 😂

It does sound similar situation to me in that we just needed more support with a better latch etc. I don't think baby was getting the fatty milk from the back of the breast because she latch wasn't deep enough, once we sorted that out, then my nipples healed, we could feed more often and she started putting the weight on again, it just took me time to realise what I was doing, how often to feed and getting a good latch. You've got the determination to make it work so hang in there and I really you can nail this :-)

MooseWL · 08/10/2020 09:04

@shiningstarz I'd just started actually enjoying running (after years of giving up on and off) and going regularly and being able to run a parkrun none stop before getting pregnant. Did a bit in first trimester but was too sick to do much, really looking forward to getting back to that and yoga, though it feels a long way off atm!
@sara7455 it's so good you're getting out and doing things can't wait to be at that stage!
@lattelover12 I often wake my partner for one of the night nappy changes too!

Anyone who had a vaginal birth how is your healing? My labial stitches seem to have healed well and my horrific haemorrhoids (sorry tmi but reality 💁‍♀️) are getting better but I'm still struggling to sit down comfortably as I have pain in my lower back. I know your coccyx can get really bruised in labour but sometimes I can feel it popping/clicking too,I've read that sometimes you can actually damage the bone. Has anyone else had this kinda pain? This baby better not have literally broken my ass🤣🤣

ShiningStarz · 08/10/2020 09:09

@MooseWL that's great to hear. Hopefully once we are all healed and ready to get back to exercise we can help to motivate each other. It's my birthday in March and I'll be 39!! Eeek would love to be able to get into a pre pregnancy dress! Maybe be able to bring down those boxes of pre pregnancy from the attic including all High heels haha !!! We moved in lockdown and I was pregnant so thought best than rather unpack boxes we just fired them into attic !! Hope your little one doing good today at weigh in xx

ShiningStarz · 08/10/2020 09:10

@Sara7455 I brought the pump to bed and ma aged to get 5 mins on one boob! Need to master holding her and the expresser :)
Thanks for your encouragement x

Sara7455 · 08/10/2020 09:12

@MooseWL it’s definitely a game changer when you get there. In a bit of an odd place as he’s 16weeks but only 5corrected to when he should have been born so I’m all healed and we’re in a bit of a routine so I’m happy getting out a few times a week but he’s still like a month old baby in terms of general development. He’s definitely the tiniest baby in all our classes!

Sara7455 · 08/10/2020 09:16

@ShiningStarz that’s great, well done! You sound so determined I’m sure you’ll get there! It’s a bit fiddly working out pumping and baby holding but doable.

WillowT · 08/10/2020 09:17

@MooseWL I had a vaginal birth with stitches (from cut). Unfortunately I have an infection now but my bruising and swelling have def gone down (I'm day 12) however my coccyx still is bruised and uncomfortable when I sit for too long (which is often due to feeding or baby asleep on me at night!)

WillowT · 08/10/2020 09:54

@HugeAgeGap thanks for the tips. I spoke to my nct breastfeeding counsellor and I'm going to have to express with a pump for a bit as she thinks I have mastitis. Just quickly bought a pump online to pick up later then she'll discuss my plan of action about using it. I really hope it helps and that I can go back to breast feeding but at least now I'll have the option to give my little breast milk from bottle

OrDis · 08/10/2020 10:39

@MooseWL I was just going to ask about healing! My episiotomy seems to be doing fine, but there is so much skin around my labia that is still red raw and stingy. It’s a bit weepy too but not smelly or anything. The midwife checked it all yesterday and said the episiotomy looks fine but my skin looks raw still- she said air it out as much as possible. I plucked up the courage to look today with a mirror and it is not a pretty sight!!!

I also have the pain in my coxyx which is bothering me a lot. It’s so hard to sit on it, feels so bruised. Midwife recommended seeing a physio if it isn't healing as it might be slightly dislocated or something. I honestly think this is worse pain than the stitches.

MooseWL · 08/10/2020 15:41

Yeay he's put on 60g in a day and the midwife seems happy with that so they're leaving me alone until Monday. I feel much happier now

@willowT @OrDis Oh glad it's fairly normal then (not glad we're all uncomfortable!) . The midwife told me today I can take ibuprofen as well as paracetamol if needed to ease the pain. Agreed it's actually worse than the stitches and makes the night feeds horrible. I'm using my pregnancy pillow as a donut to sit on to make it more bearable but i really would like to be able to get rid of the huge pillow at some point!

Sara7455 · 08/10/2020 16:40

@MooseWL yay that’s amazing!! Excellent news

WillowT · 08/10/2020 18:11

@MooseWL that's great news! Can relax over the weekend now :)

I ended up buying an electric pump today and expressed 70ml in 15 mins from my engorged breast. Going to keep going but it felt comfortable expressing. Been recommended to pump for 5 mins then see if little one can latch and continue so I don't overproduce milk which won't help with the problem

OrDis · 08/10/2020 20:42

Yay @MooseWL great news!

ChipsAreLife · 09/10/2020 14:21

Please don't beat yourself up over how you feed your baby. It isn't worth it in the long run.

I'm still exclusively pumping its working well for us but I've just ordered the Elvie pump as I'm going to have to return to work next month and will make laptop working much easier whilst I express. I don't really want to go back but My business is really busy (which is great) and my DH is in events so his work still mainly on hold so he can look after bub. It'll only be a day a week to start too.

@ShiningStarz make sure you're drinking and eating! Esp if you're pumping as BF. I know it's so hard when you have a koala baby. Have you got a sling/carrier? I pop the baby in there so I can get stuff done and he always nods off!

Dont worry about weight for now it's really so soon and not the time to beat yourself up. I'm a similar weight to you but I find I'm cracking sugar to make up for the lack of sleep!!!

ShiningStarz · 09/10/2020 21:42

Hey @ChipsAreLife I have a omni carrier but need to figure out how to use it!! Will figure it out this weekend. Thanks n hope your well xx

OrDis · 10/10/2020 10:10

Anyone else getting the sweats? I keep going really hot and sweaty- especially at night. Have read it can be normal but it’s frustrating as it’s waking me up in the small amount if hours where DD is actually sleeping. I checked my temp and it’s slightly above my normal but not an actual temp IYSWIM.

Margo34 · 10/10/2020 10:27

@OrDis yes mad night sweats here! I usually get cold so had a massive panic that we'd put the heating on too high for baby girl and she'd be overheating hugely if I was too. Took some late night reassuring from DH that it was just me and baby is fine! I think it's just excess water weight from pregnancy leaving us with hindsight. My wedding rings are close to fitting again!

WillowT · 10/10/2020 12:01

@OrDis @Margo34 me too! Ended up having a shower in the middle of the night! Never had that before. I'm in antibiotics at the moment but think it's post natal sweating rather than fever from my infection

CookieBlue · 10/10/2020 12:24

@OrDis every night I’m waking up dripping with sweat! It’s horrible. I remember having the same with my DD though so I know it doesn’t last long x

I'm starting to research baby monitors, would like a smart one so we can both access camera on mobile phones. Anyone bought and could recommend? Thanks x
