@Lilice yeah, really looking forward to when his clock resets itself, lol. I had breast engorgement, it was bad. It lasted about a week and then normalized. It's best not to do anything if u can manage and baby is latching fine. Definitely do not use a pump as that made it worse for me. Hot shower or warm flannel over boobs could release some of the excess for u.

Re sleeping

Charlotte hated her snuzpod and moses. The first 2 nights she didnt sleep at all and screamed unless being held - we were in pieces. The only place she would settle witout us was her sleepyhead. We spoke with the midwife as know this is a no for overnight, the midwufe said actually shed herself had twins and let them sleep in sleepyheads every night. We had a long chat with each other and the midwife and decided we would rather her be in the sleepyhead in the snuzpod comfy right next to me than on us exhausted which is much more dangerous, and since then shes been a dream. Sleeps solidly between feeds every 3/4 hours and goes straight back down. The mum guilt is real though i felt/feel so bad but speaking to lots of mum friends they do/ have done the same.

Xx

Sorry I have just caught up with this thread.

I had a little boy last Wednesday (16th) ended up in emcs and I wasnt very well afterwards but back home now and feeling a bit more human. Just trying to take things as slowly as possible! He's doing really well, feeding like a dream and sleeps.... Just not for very long at any one time haha.

Emmy2020b · 21/09/2020 15:58

@Lazydaisydaydream Congratulations! I wondered if you’d had your baby! You must have been over your due date by quite a bit? Hope you’re feeling better.

MooseWL · 21/09/2020 16:46

@lazydaisydream ah I was wondering about you too! Glad to hear feeding is going well and take it easy whilst you recover!

I'm trying to sort my hospital bag (I know i know 🤣) did you all take cotton wool for first nappy changes? Seems like a faf and I kinda just want to take sensitive baby wipes. (also have some reusable ones which I'm gonna stick in.) Other than that baby bits (outfits in separate sandwich bags, thanks whoevers idea that was!) and my toiletries are sorted just need to throw some clothes in for me. Hoping my hush joggers come in time as I had to send the first pair back as I didn't listen about sizing down!!

NeuroMama · 21/09/2020 17:08

@MooseWL I've just packed reusable wipes, as that's what we plan to use generally and it seems to fit the role of cotton wool (i.e no 'chemicals')

MooseWL · 21/09/2020 17:13

@neuromama might just take the reusable ones in the out and about bags then! Plus more sturdy than cotton wool! Are you cloth nappying too?

OrDis · 21/09/2020 17:59

I’ve packed a small sample packet of wipes and a packet of cotton wool. I packed the wipes because someone told me they would be a billion times easier for those first merconium poos!

Sunsage · 21/09/2020 18:01

Hello all and congrats to all the mamas! I have been totally awol on this thread but thank you for still including me on the roll call! Baby Arthor was born on 18/09 💙 and he's a dream, I on the other hand am very very sore after abit of an ordeal but he was worth it!!

Hope everybody else waiting delivers soon xxx

Lazydaisydaydream · 21/09/2020 19:41

Yes I was 14 days past my due date. And was definitely ready to not be pregnant anymore haha.

Emmy2020b · 21/09/2020 21:05

@sunsage congratulations 😊
@Lazydaisydaydream Wow 14 days over, that is a long time!
@MooseWL I’ve just got a few cotton pads and some water wipes.

ShiningStarz · 21/09/2020 21:19

Congrats @Lazydaisydaydream 💙

ShiningStarz · 21/09/2020 21:20

Congrats @Sunsage

The boys could be over taking the girls now!!!

ShiningStarz · 21/09/2020 21:21

@MooseWL yep wipes were what I used, the meconium was so sticky, warm water soaked cotton pads would have done but not balls! The poo was hard to get off the skin!

ShiningStarz · 21/09/2020 21:23

TIP - Midwife called today, baby had a bit of a red bum, she recommended metanium, I got it from Boots earlier and put it on her bum and after one application it sorted it right out xx

ShiningStarz · 21/09/2020 21:32

No more visitors in the house for NI!!! Thankfully all the family have been to visit!
Just mad that I can't have people come to our house but I can meet them in a pub or restaurant. Feeling frustrated!

NeuroMama · 21/09/2020 21:54

@MooseWL yes, planning to cloth nappy too. I've packed some cloth and some eco disposables in my hospital bag so I've got options in the immediate aftermath of birth. But hoping to cloth right from the start.

@ShiningStarz the whole pandemic situation is so frustrating. I'm crossing my fingers my local hospital policy isn't changed before I give birth (at the moment I'm super lucky and partners are allowed in for induction and postnatal visits).

Cox2020 · 22/09/2020 02:42

Finally catching up and congratulations to all the new mamas!

After a long wait, 12 days overdue my little boy finally decided to make a very quick arrival after I was induced and was born on 18.09.20 weighing a chunky 9lb 7!

Totally in love and definitely worth the long wait 💙

Sara7455 · 22/09/2020 05:35

Congrats @Cox2020 and @Lazydaisydaydream - you poor things going so overdue!

ShiningStarz · 22/09/2020 05:54

Congrats @Cox2020 💙

Emmy2020b · 22/09/2020 06:10

@Cox2020 Congratulations 😊

LatteLover12 · 22/09/2020 06:55

Ah congratulations @Lazydaisydaydream @Cox2020 and @Sunsage

We've had a good couple of nights here but I'd really like to get him into his crib!

My boobs are still huge & I'm very much looking forward to them settling down!

No visitors or meeting up with anyone for us in the NE either. I'm finding it okay at the minute as I'm still recovering and DP is here. I'm a bit worried about being on my own all day if things haven't improved by next month.

How's everyone else doing? Do we need/want a grads thread?

Emmy2020b · 22/09/2020 07:33

Have my induction booked on Thursday, I’ve not had one before. Can anyone tell me what to expect?

CookieBlue · 22/09/2020 07:59

Congratulations all that have had their babies this week!

We’re doing ok here. Little one is now 6 days old. My milk came in on Sunday and my boobs are like lumps of concrete!! So painful so really hoping that settles down soon. Had a couple of days where I felt really irrational. No tears but just getting annoyed at our cats, annoyed at older DD, annoyed at everything Blush. I don’t think it helped that those were the days where baby slept awful. We had a good night last night with feeds at 10.30pm, 1.30am and then 5.30am. I think that’s the best we’ve managed so far so feeling good today!

We left the house for the first time yesterday for little ones heel prick test and managed to nearly walk out of the door without even a changing bag Grin. Think we’re a little bit rusty after 5 years without a newborn!

MooseWL · 22/09/2020 08:07

Congrats @sunsage and @cox2020 😊
@shiningstarz I thought Boris was going to announce the same for us today (maybe he still will) but instead closing pubs early 🤔🤦‍♀️

@neuromama ah I've got disposable for the hospital then will gradually switch to reusable once home! Despite people knowing my intentions with cloth wipes and nappies I've still ended up being given loads of disposable wipes and nappies so going to use those first. At least I don't have to buy them...

Those of you with bigger babies (mine predicted to be 8lb8 and a long baby!) did they still fit into newborn clothes? I've mostly packed up to 1 month as the newborn stuff looks ridiculously tiny! It's very handy being able to ask people who've already had babies this stuff 😁😘
