Ah well thelady, if he is only that much behind you then by the time bubs appears he should be ready to go!

Had a bit of an immac disaster today...bit horrified by the forest downstairs so thought i'd give the immac a go rather than risking cutting myself to shreds with a razor. The gravity or standing up seems to have caused the immac to spread somewhat so have removed rather more than was anticipating and am left with a rather patchy mohican. Have a consultant appointment on wednesday and have never had one before so not sure what it entails...really hoping no examination is required or I'll be VERY embarrassed!

thelady · 13/10/2007 14:07

Claireybee: welcome to the immac disaster club. Try lying in the bath with legs up on the sides and having it run down and disappear an area you hadn't intended touching at all . And I wasn't even pregnant at the time!

Beanstermummy · 13/10/2007 16:03

LOL at immac stories - just the smell makes me avoid it. I've gone for that razor with the built in shaving gell block thingy - can just sort of vaguely swish away and no cuts so far - must admit DH has had to assist at least once though - did last time so no too bad - sorry - bit TMI there

Currently doing my usual sitting in Rugby club car park while DH runs around in the mud and DD sleeps in car seat - but, by some very strange miracle my brain went into overdrive before we set off and I chucked my laptop in - hence posting!! Company one I add with 3G card thingy for mobile working - bless them for the forethought to let me post on MN while not tied to a desk

Items for note today

pelvic Floor exercises chocolate
and of course
Come on England against the French tonight (I know I live in Scotland but with a Welsh Mum and English Dad get to support Wales and England still Don't think DH will be though!!

Bouncingturtleskulls · 13/10/2007 16:25

I still shave my legs okay, but DH has to prune the lady garden now
Though I really struggled to clip my toesnails this morning!!

cazzybabs · 13/10/2007 16:33

I am lying in bed feeling crap - vertical is not good! I think my morning sickness is back and I have a runny nose. I think it it my body's way of saying rest...but god I have so much to do...

and was out baby sitting tonight so could watch the rubgy (we don't have a TV) - now dh is goi g to have to go.

suey2 · 13/10/2007 16:35

thank god my toenails seem to have stopped growing after a huge spurt- that would definitely have to be a DH job now!
One thing that is very disconcerting is the farting at night, in my sleep, waking up DH. This is now almost a nightly occurence He is being very good about it and is hapy to blame the peanut.
Belly button keeps trying to be an outie but isn't there yet. Mmmm who said chocolate? Might have to pop down the shops...

macdoodle · 13/10/2007 16:38

Get the toenails thing - really struggled with boots and socks this morning - time for a trip for some comfy slip ons - yuk I ALWAYS wear heels being a short arse feel half dressed but time for comfy flat slip ons

Bouncingturtleskulls · 13/10/2007 17:38

Yes I've been feeling sick on and off for the last few days as well cazzy...

Oops!!

thelady · 13/10/2007 18:26

Well, I think those of us watching the Scotland football game had a better deal than those watching the England game.... Not an intact fingernail in the house/pub!

Bouncingturtle: sorry to hear you're feeling rotten - hope it's a passing problem.

On the basis that my blood glucose levels have been nice and steady I went and bought (and scoffed) a Yorkie Bar. I needed chocolate, and Wispas haven't made it to the Borders yet. Probably by 2020 . That was after munching home-made cottage pie (yes, potato again! )for lunch.

Housemum · 13/10/2007 19:27

Please stop talking about chocolate - we have none in the house! (Even checked in The Teenager's bedroom as she's out at a friends ) I desperately want it, but it gives me heartburn - it's like those Vic Reeves Muller yoghurt adverts they used to have - you can't have pleasure without pain or something like that .

Actually, most food gives me heartburn at the mo - pregnancy is the only time I can face drinking milk, as it relieves the heartburn (though not for long).

11 weeks to go - still no idea where I am going to keep any baby stuff as DD2's room is chocker. I just can't find anything to get rid of! Think baby's clothes will be in a cardboard box at this rate...

workingmummy · 13/10/2007 21:06

It's not chocolate for me, it's just carbs... carbs, carbs and more carbs... seems like I need them as fuel just to keep going!

has anyone else got so much movement from the Bump that it's actually uncomfortable? I THINK she may have turned around from breach on Thursday night as it was actually painful, and my stomach does seem to be a different shape, but can't be sure... don't remember this from first time around?

insywinsyspider · 13/10/2007 21:12

evening - not chocolate for me much just any type of food! I'm going to be huge

workingmum - yes baby very uncomfortable, I can't work out which way up it is, we also have hiccups (rythmic little flutters) now which is really annoying... good that your baby may have turned tho, hopefully mw will confirm at your next app

hope everyone else having a good weekend

mixedmama - where are you?

buzzybee · 14/10/2007 06:21

Have made a pact not to eat carbs after 6pm as they seem to make me feel VERY uncomfortable. Craving dairy which is good if doesn't bring on the heartburn - didn't know that!

Apart from a 30 min walk today seem to have spent most of the weekend sleeping...

suey2 · 14/10/2007 09:34

same workingmummy- i am now finding that there is no way i can sleep through when he starts to get a jiggle on. occasional 'i need to pee NOW' kicks/ punches too. And eating tolerance much reduced- actually started seeing starts when out with friends for dinner on friday- had to splash some cold water on my face- thought i would actually be sick!
Off to see some pals for lunch today who have just had a baby- be really interested to hear how they got on. The wife is a real hippy (vegetarian, yogi etc.) and i am sure would have wanted the full natural experience. However- an email from the husband suggested that he found 22 hours of labour really tough to witness!
I am trying to persuade DH that he doesn't need to be there throughout whereas he feels obliged to be there. he is squeamish and likely to get very uncomfortable if he is witnessing my pain without being able to do anything- is everyone having their DPs there?

buzzybee · 14/10/2007 09:42

Hey Suey. No, but then I'm in a different situation! A (girl) friend has offered to be a birth partner but I think I'll just have the midwife.
Last time my then DH was there throughout but more to provide company through the early stages of labour since after I had the pethidine shot he had a nap and I dozed for about 5 hours. It must have been quite hard on him as those early stages went from 11pm to 8am so he was struggling to stay awake. I did find it quite nice from him to provide a bit of massage tho.
Looking back I'd compare those early stages to having a stomach bug - you feel pretty terrible and it nice to have someone else being sympathtic but at the same time it doesn't really make a lot of difference to your ability to cope with it. I spent a lot of that time in the bath anyway.
I think he wanted to be there tho and I wouldn't have wanted to deny him that. And he was very encouraging through the second stage, cried when she came out etc.

Hello! Yep understand what you mean about baby being uncomfortable. I had an awful stitch like pain in my right side yesterday.
However went swimming today for first time in ages - ahh absolute bliss just floating around weightless! Felt wonderfully relaxed and free from pain, having been suffering from chronic back ache and pain in my right hip for weeks! Just very tired now. If you haven't been definitely recommend it!

Housemum · 14/10/2007 14:15

Suey2 - to be honest, I don't actually remember wanting DH to do much other than be there - I don't like being fussed over, and I was quite happy playing with the buttons on my TENS machine (and later on taking lungfuls of gas & air!) The midwife was into classic motorbikes, and I remember the two of them having a good old chat about that! But DH said that the moment she was born was the most amazing thing he had ever seen, and it certainly didn't make hime feel odd, or put him off me, or anything like that. Does that help at all?

claraq · 14/10/2007 16:24

hi everyone hope you are having good weekends. We had friends to stay and after we put the LO's to bed stayed up until gone 11pm (after watching the rugby) talking, which is VERY late for me. Had a glass of champagne with my meal as well and have felt lousy/totally bolloxed all day today. However it was worth it for an evening of adult conversation!

Workingmum - sounds very like me, the baby is so strong now it wakes me up in the night. I think it's a lot stronger than last time but that could be because stomach muscles are weaker. I also think it is still turning - we thought it was head up the other day but now I think it has turned again. But I reckon it'll keep spinning for a while until it finally gets stuck - it just seems to like to dance!

Suey2 - I don't think I could force my DH out of the labour room for love nor money; he is the opposite of squeamish and seems determined to have the whole experience, including cutting the cord. He wanted to watch the c-section from the business end last time but they keep the dads up the top end to support their partners...and in case they faint!!

mixedmama · 14/10/2007 16:34

Have not been able to catch up, that is my first job at work tomorrow.... just saying hi. Wasnt feeling so well last week so had the week off and no access to the net.

Speak tomorrow ladies.

claraq · 14/10/2007 16:42

Mixedmama!! You have no idea how worried everyone has been for you - so glad to see you are ok! Everyone will be so relieved. I think because you normally post quite a lot, there was a lot of anxiety when we didn't hear from you.
Hope you are feeling ok now. You'll have a lot to catch up on.....

Amberooni · 14/10/2007 17:43

Hiya, just downed a pint of milk to try to resolve heartburn. Went for hospital tour this morning, feel better about going in now, though the smell of eggs and bacon helped!! I'm glad DH went as he's been quite blase about the whole thing, think it's really sinking in now. Baby is getting pretty uncomfortable too, the mexican wave across the belly is so amazing, yet very strange to witness and weird to feel.

insywinsyspider · 14/10/2007 20:28

Mixedmama - good to hear from you and sorry you haven't been feeling too well - how are you doing?

suey - I gave dh the option as I don't think I could watch someone go through childbirth and whilst i had ds on just gas and air i really relied on him to make decisions for me - aparently he kept asking what ds's heart rate was and then telling doctor to do one when they wanted to intervene and telling me to push harder but he was right - it was a big ask and I did wonder if i needed someone who had been through childbirth before to be with me - he was fab and said he won't have missed it for the world, he def didn't want to cut umbilical cord and stuck at the head end - cried with me at the end just before ds was born (but think that was emotional exhaustion for the both of us!) I think its about giving them the option, althought other mums looked shocked at the fact I wouldn't force dh to be there if he couldn't bear it, much better he's willing than forced into it...

hope everyone had a good weekend - we got ds his first pair of proper shoes I'd been putting it off as his feet haven't grown but there is only so long he could use his cruisers for, he looks wicked in his ankle boots - took him to country park for a walk and feed the ducks... wish it wasn't work tomorrow

buzzybee · 15/10/2007 02:33

Hi everyone! Had my 30 week scan today and everything's fine
Kidneys normal!! Only "unusual" thing was that there's a large amount of amniotic fluid - but as the sonographer said, better too much than too little. Probably explains why I'm feeling so huge and umcomfortable. My MW visiting this evening so will just double check with her that there's nothing I should be worried about there (and whether's there's anyway to reduce it to improve my comfort levels...) but generally it seems like I should just get on with the next 10 weeks as normal and LO shouldn't even need to have a post-natal scan to check the kidneys.
The sonographer was sooooo lovely too. A complete change from last time. She took all the key measurements again and said baby measured about average for all but one of them - i.e. about average sized (she calculated just 3lb 8oz) which is all good considering I'm still hoping for the homebirth. She also confirmed that she's a girl!! (and head down but that could change - especially as there's so much fluid to move around in).
Only "bad" thing was that I got faint again half way through the scan just like at the dentist's the other day. She said that's normal - something about weight pressing down on key vein to the heart - and I should try not to lie on my back in bed. Haven't been anyway as not very comfy.
Hope you're all well and had nice weekends. Great to see you back Mixedmama.
