@ShiningStarz Sounds lovely! Nice to be able to have a pamper 😊 I’ve got my highlights booked for tomorrow, a hair trim for the following week and have booked in a very nice sounding pedicure where you even get a shoulder massage, very excited for that! 😁😁

ShiningStarz · 16/07/2020 13:27

@Emmy2020 it's great to have something to look forward too before baby arrives which obviously is the bit I'm most looking forward too. Just feels it'll make the countdown to baby arrival go that little bit quicker !! 🤣🤣

Emmy2020 · 16/07/2020 13:56

@ShiningStarz Yes definitely! X

OrDis · 16/07/2020 15:04

Don’t know about you guys but this week is going SO SLOWLY for me! Now that i’ve hit 30 weeks and am feeling increasingly uncomfortable I feel like it’s all going to start to drag again. The wonderful second trimester went so fast 🤣

ShiningStarz · 16/07/2020 16:30

@OrDis I actually feel ok which worries me lol!! I'm 32 weeks and managing during the day ok fine. At night can get uncomfortable turning just. Can't wait for scan on Wed to ensure this little one is growing ok 🤞🤞

Lazydaisydaydream · 16/07/2020 16:35

@OrDis yep time seems to have screeched to a standstill!!

MooseWL · 16/07/2020 18:55

I'm kinda the opposite can't believe how fast it's going now! But also kind of just want it to be September already and meet my baby!

I can't believe how much colostrum my boobs are making. I've always found it mental that actual milk is gonna come out of them. When I'm making full on milkshakes it's gonna blow my mind 😂🤯

ShiningStarz · 16/07/2020 21:13

Have you started @MooseWL how many weeks are you?
My midwife is supplying the kit at my next appt which is in 2 weeks time with her, I'll be 34 weeks then so think it's still too early to try and express colostrum.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 16/07/2020 21:56

Yes I feel like it’s going super slow now (at almost 32 weeks) - and feel like I have a bowling ball between my legs when walk around!

(And yes you shouldn’t harvest colostrum until at least 37 weeks as it can bring on labour).

ShiningStarz · 16/07/2020 22:15

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I thought that. Look forward to trying in 5 weeks time!!

This gestational diabetes is so tiring!!!
I prick my finger at least 12 times a day!! Counting carbohydrates and not being able to eat when I'm hungry is exhausting. I try to bulk up on avocado and other healthy days, hitting bout 1300
Cals a day, seems low. But I can't much if anything between meals incase pushes me over :(

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 17/07/2020 06:48

@ShiningStarz I totally sympathise and remember it well from last time - it’s genuinely a really trying experience - but that being said it will be over soon and you will be able to forget all about it once baby arrives - and I have never enjoyed hospital sponge pudding and custard so much in my entire life as when baby was born and you can eat normally again!!!

MooseWL · 17/07/2020 07:30

@shiningstarz @mostlyambridgeandcoffee nope not intentionally collecting just very leaky atm! I feel like if I do want to collect it will be not a problem when the time comes but not sure I'm going to bother!

Laura1348 · 17/07/2020 07:31

Is everyone back to 'normal'? I am struggling to pluck up the courage to go into a shop etc having been stuck in since 13th March.
Thanks all

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 17/07/2020 07:56

No not still back to ‘normal’ but then we are fortunate to both be able to work from home. We are starting to be a bit braver though - eg going to get the odd coffee from a coffee shop and we are putting DS into nursery 2 days a week from August so that he’s in routine again for when baby’s born. Also being a bit more relaxed with local (next door) family who we have been distancing from until now . How about others ?

OrDis · 17/07/2020 07:58

Oh thats hard @ShiningStarz, I love to snack, not sure how i’d cope without it. At least it’s for a temporary period, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel

Lazydaisydaydream · 17/07/2020 08:02

@Laura1348 I am gradually getting braver, but have decided to still avoiding strangers, so I have seen family and friends but avoiding shops and restaurants etc. My husband is having to return to work in the office next week, and also going to send my son to nursery two mornings a week from beginning of August, so that he's settled before the baby comes.

We live somewhere with no local cases so that makes me feel a bit more relaxed, but I still don't want to go out and about too much as don't want to become complacent if that makes sense?

emma278 · 17/07/2020 08:02

Hi @Laura1348 apart from still working at home as our central london office is closed ive been quite back to normal, been to oubs restaurants shops all felt fine and very safe just have to be sensible. Seen lots of friends just not hugging etc. Its done absolute wonders for my mental health. I think that was the most importang thing for me. Only thing i havent used is public transport but then being oregnant you cant drink anyway so it doesnt matter! Xx

OrDis · 17/07/2020 08:03

@Laura1348 I wouldnt say I was back to normal. I wouldnt want to sit in the cinema for example or in a resturant for a long period (not that I can as in Wales), but I am popping to shops and things. Been very impressed with the ones i’ve gone to so far which are all laid out well for distancing. I wear a mask whenever I go into shops now, which still is a bit out of the ordinary in Wales as they haven't made it compulsory yet and most people (where I am anyway) still don’t seem to bother.

We’ve also done a few day trips to visit family and go for nice walks at the beach (in the evenings when it’s less crowded). I feel like I want to do a bit more now whilst the chance of catching it is less, so that if things ramp up in a few weeks and there is a second wave and I need to be much more careful I won’t feel like i’ve totally missed out. Plus I know life is going to change dramatically with a baby and so I won’t get to do these things in quite the same way in the future anyway, so trying to make the most of this last summer!

ShiningStarz · 17/07/2020 08:15

@Laura1348 I'm pretty much the same as @OrDis I have just started doing food shop once a week with mask always on. It's usually somewhere like M&s, nice and small. Haven't been near a big supermarket since early March!! Walks in evening, getting out for drives and seeing both sets of parents. I haven't seen friends, we don't know who they have seen, if they are out at pubs restaurants n shops etc so I just feel it's too much of a risk. Although the mental health aspect as @emma278 mentions is so important. Do what's best for you xx

I think I told someone on here I feel great and sleep great!!! I jinxed myself!!! Last night I woke with sore calf's again and sore sides and hips!! Calf pain is excruciating for a while until it settles 😩

ShiningStarz · 17/07/2020 08:16

@OrDis @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I'm looking forward to cake and custard 🤣🤣 shouldn't complain!!! It's funny how by morning I don't feel hungry lol.

Laura1348 · 17/07/2020 08:34

Thanks everyone. I'm Supposed to be meeting a friend in town but just worried about how that will feel.

I think slowly slowly but you make a good point @OrDis - try to get out now in case it gets worse!

Thanks again. It's lovely to hear your experiences.

LatteLover12 · 17/07/2020 09:32

Morning everyone,

Last day of term for me so I suppose that's kind of me on mat leave now - eek!

In terms of trying to get back to normal, I've not been in our big supermarket since February but we have got a smaller one in the village where I live & I've popped in there a few times now. I've also been for a coffee (on my own!) in a local cafe but it was practically empty so I didn't feel too worried.

I'm really hoping to go out for a meal with my DP before baby comes but we haven't decided yet. We wouldn't have to go into town or anything and we've got zero cases locally. I'm just not sure what to do!

I had a call from the HV yesterday. Not sure how useful it was!

NeuroMama · 17/07/2020 09:44

I am feeling pretty uneasy about going out in the world again, and living a pretty isolated routine still. We are luck and both can continue to work from home for now. Still just doing our fortnightly click and collect for food, and no other shopping. We have seen a couple of friends outdoors, socially distanced, but I will admit even that I feel unsure about. Luckily both me and my partner are massive introverts so not going out hasn't felt too bad for us. I miss strict lockdown when I didn't have to constantly do my own risk assessment!

NeuroMama · 17/07/2020 09:46

I should say I live in the middle of a major city, so I think this effects how I feel, as it is challenging to leave the house without people being everywhere!

LatteLover12 · 17/07/2020 10:04

I agree @NeuroMama I think if I lived in a city I'd be more cautious. I feel lucky to be in a rural part of Northumberland that's for sure.

Is anyone taking iron tablets? I've had to start taking them and I've stopped taking my multivitamin but now I'm worried I've done the wrong thing as I keep being told that vitamin D is so important. What's everyone else doing?
