@ShiningStarz not twins haha, but I have polyhydramnios (excess fluid) so means even though baby is average size there's a lot more fluid stretching it out haha. I had the same with my son and honestly I look at pictures from my due date and wonder how I managed to stand upright haha! I'm normally a size 8 and I'm only 5"2 Blush

sianyflewog · 19/06/2020 21:49

The talk of hairy bumps has really made me giggle - on my first pregnancy, I had serious facial hair going on. It was just excess vellus hair, but was a bit darker and I was so aware of it! It went within a short amount of time after delivery. Hormones do crazy things.

@ShiningStarz I ordered my Aden + Anais dream blanket with natural baby shower, and delivery was so quick! Excellent service.

@Bubble29 3 bags is nothing, I’ve made my husband do 2 trips to the tip! 😂

@ChipsAreLife Tip top advice! I didn’t even come up with a birthing plan on H as I just figured I you couldn’t say for definite on what I’d do in a situation that was so foreign to me. As it happens, I had an elective section so wouldn’t have needed it anyway! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Have my consultants appointment next week, and hoping I don’t have to fight to have an elective this time - the midwives seem to be pushing VBAC, which I don’t want! Anyone been in this situation?

sianyflewog · 19/06/2020 21:52

Loving all the bump pictures. So funny to see how different we can all be at (roughly) the same stage, especially in the difference between people with first and people with subsequent pregnancies!

HugeAgeGap · 19/06/2020 23:17

@sianyflewog I had an elective section with my first 11 years ago due to breach. A few years ago had quite a lot of treatment for abnormal cervix cells so was referred to Consultant to discuss VBAC or elective. MWs all encouraged VBAC and said that was their recommendation as section major surgery blah blah. Had my phone consult with consultant this week (28w) and she couldn't have been more supportive to go with whatever option I preferred, no pressure or pushing for either birth, I told her repeat elective section felt right for me, she read me the VBAC stats applicable to my situation and emphasised that was in no way to change my mind or influence me, it was a requirement to give the info, then she said are u happy with the section decision to which I repeated yes and she said I'm happy with that too shall I book it all in now, and went ahead down the phone and gave me the date for the section itself and the date and time to go in for pre-oop and covid testing, a few days before section.

Hope this helps xx

Lovely bumps ladies @emma278 i love your cardigan, where is it from?
@Sara7455 I hope you and Wren are doing well 💗

pangolin84 · 20/06/2020 07:59

Here’s my bump this morning - 26 weeks today. Yesterday I happened to be looking at the bump just as he gave me a good whack and the whole thing wobbled like a blancmange.

ChipsAreLife · 20/06/2020 08:02

@sianyflewog I've found the opposite. I was encouraged to have elective sections based on my first experience. We reached a compromise with my second where if I went into labour I could try vbac but they wouldn't let me go over 40 weeks or be induced. Ended up having a planned section, although that got cancelled as there were too many staff off! My births never seem to go to plan 🤣

This time round my consultant was lovely and said let's just go for a section as it's safest for me and baby. I said is there any benefit to trying vbac? She said only if I had my heart set on it (which I didn't).

I think in general there fine with ELCS but I remember reading horror stories on here about people having to fight so was worried but didn't need to be.

Thanks ladies. I had an elective last time due to a low lying placenta, and had a major bleed during - I was so thankful that I was still in theatre, as they were able to act quickly. They ended up fitting a balloon to stem the bleed, and I am obviously fine but my worry (even though I don’t have a low lying placenta this time, and know this is most likely what caused the bleed) is that I’d have a bleed like that again and not be in theatre for them to see and be able to deal with the source.

I have read up on VBAC but I don’t see that it necessarily offers me any benefits, other than it being easier to get around in the days afterwards. What also sticks in my head is the (very small) risk of stillbirth or brain damage, I think due to rupture, which is reduced to 0.001% or some minute figure like that with a repeat section. Even though the first figure is small too, it’s not really a chance I want to take! I’m hoping my consultant is just happy to go with my choice, I know my midwife is generally supportive but the others I’ve seen 🙄

Lazydaisydaydream · 20/06/2020 10:39

@sianyflewog I think the important thing to remember is that it Is YOUR decision. The doctors will have to advise you of certain things, but if they follow NICE guidelines they cannot deny you an elective c section. You don't need a justification or "good enough" reason.

I'm finding the opposite though - I want a vbac and feel like they are pushing c section instead haha. Maybe we should switch doctors Grin

ShiningStarz · 20/06/2020 12:15

Beautiful big bump @emma278

Haha @Lazydaisydaydream the extra fluid doesn't sound much fun but your bump
Is so cute!!

@sianyflewog I have literally everything off the natural baby shower site. Love it! Their customer service is fab!!

@pangolin84 I love your bottoms so colourful and your bump is like mine!!

I have no clue about birth plans !! I said I'd start the hypnobirthing online course I bought from 30 weeks. So hopefully more educated after that!!

I had a bit of swelling at my ankles and hands last couple days with mild headaches so I went to the maternity emergency. I rang first and she said pre eclampsia doesn't happen this early! I almost told her about you @Sara7455 !!! Anyway all was fine thankfully 👍

emma278 · 20/06/2020 12:20

Ah thanks @Lilice its literally 10 years old from primark 🙈 living in h&m maternity vest tops and shirts or cardis.

Thank you @ShiningStarz i havent hear back re my diabetes test yet they took blood weds afternoon. Im not sure how long before you can breathe a sigh of relief 🤷🏼‍♀️

X

Lilice · 20/06/2020 12:39

@Lazydaisydaydream im going for a vbac too. The consultant just asked me what i wanted and that was it. I had a vaginal birth with my first so maybe that's why they don't mind me having another one. She even said I could go in the birthing pool when I asked. I think we all know things never go to plan anyway. Que sera, sera!
@emma278 me too I like h&m stuff

ShiningStarz · 20/06/2020 13:47

@emma278 I'm having mine Monday Monday!! Drink the stupid drink arghh!! Results available that afternoon! You'll
Prob only hear if there is a problem so I would take it as good news

CNovittBolden · 20/06/2020 19:39

Hi all! I’m 26+1 and felt reduced movement today as well as a little pain, so took myself to maternity triage. Heartbeat is fine but they agreed baby wasn’t moving and wanted to check growth so have admitted me overnight. I’m terrified!! Please someone tell me this is normal and everything will be fine!

Lazydaisydaydream · 20/06/2020 20:10

@CNovittBolden goodness that does sound scary, but you are on the right place and they will be able to keep a close eye on you! How tonight goes well and they have some answers for you soon xxx

Bubble29 · 20/06/2020 20:15

@CNovittBolden I hope all is okay! You're right to get checked out. I'm still trying to work our patterns! There is always something to worry about.

ShiningStarz · 20/06/2020 20:21

@CNovittBolden I hope all is ok. I'm sure it is, they are probably being cautious which is best.

ChipsAreLife · 20/06/2020 21:05

@CNovittBolden oh I'm sorry, you must be so worried. But sounds like they're on it and heartbeat is good. Sometimes babies just have lazy days but best to be safe. Make sure you talk to the midwife if you've got questions. Thinking of you x

CNovittBolden · 20/06/2020 21:20

Thank you all for your kind words! You've definitely helped me calm down!

Nurse came and had a listen and could hear movement and was happy. I'm still in overnight and will speak to the doctor tomorrow and they're arranging a scan for me tomorrow or Monday to make sure everything is alright.

Had a bit more bleeding but that could be down to the examination. They said my cervix has some cells that are bleeding and took some swabs.

Definitely scary being here with no visitors!

WillowT · 20/06/2020 21:22

@CNovittBolden hope everything is okay. Always best to get it checked out.

Movement really worries me, it's my constant anxiety. I didn't have much yesterday and I don't have any pattern although my husband pointed out it doesn't move much when I've had a stress-y day at work and wait till I relax tomorrow...today it has moving about. I've realised I just have quieter days at the moment. But still, worry every time!

pangolin84 · 20/06/2020 21:32

@CNovittBolden That sounds stressful! But positive that the nurse was happy with baby’s movement and heartbeat. I’m 26 weeks as well and I totally over-analyse how much movement I’ve felt. From what I’ve read the movements can be really erratic up until 28 weeks when there’s more of a reliable pattern so it’s most likely absolutely fine. Completely the right thing to get checked out though - better that than worrying at home. Bleeding also sounds ok if it’s from cervix rather than from placenta. Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight x

Lilice · 20/06/2020 22:25

Thinking of you @CNovittBolden hope you manage to get some rest tonight xx

emma278 · 21/06/2020 00:13

Ended up at triage tonight too as baby has been quiet. They were happy with heartbeat and movement even though i can barely feel it, she said its likely babys posistion. Such a worry. I hate the quiet days so much x
