I just had my booking in appointment with the midwife over the phone, she was lovely but did stress me out a bit telling me about the nuchal scan.. I didn't really know whether to get it or not, does anyone have any experience of this? It seems like it's the sensible thing to do but I'm just a bit clueless!
@Coronababy hi! Glad to hear you had a good scan, from what I've heard the dating can be a bit all over the place as they grow at different rates. I've been napping all over the place!

BabyG123 · 11/06/2020 19:59

@sachaf08 is that not just part of the 12 week scan πŸ€”

OP posts:
sachaf08 · 11/06/2020 20:13

@BabyG123 she gave me the option of a basic dating scan taking 5-10 mins, or the nuchal scan which takes about 30 mins. She said not to decide yet and have a think about it. I don't know why you would refuse the longer scan?

BabyG123 · 11/06/2020 20:27

@sachaf08 same, why wouldn't you want as much detail. Can't believe they give the option

OP posts:
CoronaBaby · 11/06/2020 22:09

@sachaf08 as with @BabyG123 I was under the impression that this was just done as standard. But if given the choice I would also take the longer scan! possibly with Covid they are giving people the option of a quicker scan so less time in the hospital?

Skyla01 · 12/06/2020 10:45

@sachaf08 that's odd, I wasn't given an option and as far as I know I'll be getting all the standard screening (including nuchal measurement) as routine. So I wouldn't worry about it too much but if I were you I'd go for the more detailed option. Funny how different health boards do it all differently!

@CoronaBaby glad everything is going ok!

I'm feeling ok, bit fed up of feeling rubbish but it's manageable just now. Can't wait for 12wk scan & 2nd trimester! Just under 4 weeks to go (8+6 today). Looking forward to week 9 tomorrow and seeing what fruit is next! Anyone else got a pregnancy app with fruit-foetus comparisons?

Hopefulmummie · 12/06/2020 11:34

Hi everyone hope you are all doing ok I haven't been on my phone much so haven't had a chance to read.

I was in the unbearable pain again this morning but strong painkiller kicked in fast and they have took my bloods today instead of tomorrow to see what's going on

sachaf08 · 12/06/2020 12:26

@Skyla01 and @CoronaBaby yeah I think I'll go for the full scan, I just spoke to my brother whose wife has a 7 month old in the same county as us and he doesn't think they were given the option, so maybe it is a covid thing. If she hadn't given me the option I wouldn't even be worrying about it!
@Hopefulmummie really hope they sort it out soon! It's good that you're in hospital being looked after! Will they do another scan to check what's going on?

Hopefulmummie · 12/06/2020 14:12

@sachaf08 I think the blood results will show if my pregnancy levels are going down and if they are it means injection is working

Skyla01 · 12/06/2020 15:15

@Hopefulmummie fingers crossed the blood test shows progress. Do you still have to stay in until Sunday?

Hopefulmummie · 12/06/2020 15:45

@skyla01 got them back earlier and pregnancy levels have slightly dropped although still high so they'll do them in another few days but means injection probably starting to work

Yeah at least Sunday cause I've been in so much pain they want to keep an eye on me until they know levels def dropping

OrangeJ · 13/06/2020 08:42

@Hopefulmummie hoping the pain eases for you soon. X

I’m now 7+1 and still not feeling many symptoms at all. I do need a wee early in the morning and wake up a bit hungry. My food aversions are not very strong at all and I’m still eating what I normally would albeit maybe don’t enjoy it AS much as I used to.

I’ve still got no nausea and feel like my tiredness is just due to me being really lazy at the moment πŸ˜‚

I’m in limbo a bit with my maternity care. My gp apparently sent my referral and I managed to get a copy after I requested it, but the hospital still haven’t received anything. Feel a bit lost and don’t know what to do πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Hope everyone is doing ok. It’s going to be so nice here today. My mum is joining our household today in our isolation bubble. Bbq and chill all weekend ☺️ I’m sure she’s going to guess as well 🀭

Skyla01 · 13/06/2020 10:22

@OrangeJ I must be in the only place in the country where the weather it crap today!! A bbq sounds lovely though. Sorry you haven't got very far with your referral. Maybe chase it up next week? Tbh it's just a lot of questions at booking, and some places don't do it until 8-10 wks anyway.

sachaf08 · 13/06/2020 11:34

@OrangeJ I am so jealous of you not having any nausea! I've just had an absolutely terrible morning throwing up non stop. Saying that though, I thought mine had started at 6 weeks but when I got my scan I was a week further on so it actually started at 7. I hope it stays away for you!!

Readyformyeggy · 13/06/2020 14:36

Hi everyone! I haven’t posted for a while because to be honest I’ve not had much to say other than extreme tiredness
Had an early scan today at 8 weeks 5 days
The scan photo looks like a blob / scary face if you look at it sideways πŸ˜‹ but it was so worth it if anyone is thinking of having a private early scan
I was kind of in disbelief about being pregnant and it’s made it all feel so real xx

Skyla01 · 13/06/2020 18:23

@Readyformyeggy that's lovely to see! I thought about a private scan but kinda want to save the money instead. Only 3.5weeks to wait...!

My nausea hasn't been too bad today but still not feeling like eating much. Felt better this morning as I didn't have to get up for work and had a nice lie in. How come I'm already wondering if it's bedtime yet?!

OrangeJ · 14/06/2020 17:52

Aawww @Readyformyeggy what a gorgeous little blob πŸ₯°

I’m so tempted to book in for an early scan but also feel like I should just wait for the 12 week one

I saw on my FB feed yesterday that my pregnant friend said she was told partners were allowed at scans now. Has anyone else heard that?

Skyla01 · 14/06/2020 19:02

@OrangeJ I hadn't heard that. At the moment partners aren't allowed when I am, but given there's still a few weeks to go I was hoping the rules might change. I'll definitely be phoning up to check before mine. I guess the rules might be different across different hospitals too.

My nausea has made a comeback this evening. Great :( At least I got a few days break.

sachaf08 · 16/06/2020 19:29

@Hopefulmummie how are you getting on now? Xx

Hopefulmummie · 16/06/2020 19:38

@sachaf08 Hi thanks for asking.

I finally got home from hospital this afternoon. Although my blood tests today showed that pregnancy levels have went up again :(
They were going to give me another dos of the methotrexate injection today but decided to leave it and I have to go to early pregnancy on Thursday to have bloods again and check for levels. They are going to scan me too to check ectopic hasn't got any bigger.
I'm so relieved to be home but just wish this was over me and now I don't know if I will need another injection

BabyG123 · 16/06/2020 20:29

@Hopefulmummie was thinking about you today, I hope the pain have subsided and you get good results soon. Xx

OP posts:
OrangeJ · 17/06/2020 07:11

@Hopefulmummie glad you’re home but sorry this is all still ongoing for you. Sending you hugs.

Girls, has anyone else out on weight yet? πŸ™Š I’m not eating the most healthy as I really only fancy carbs and cheese at the moment. Also don’t have the energy to exercise. Wish I had nausea to put me off my food a bit! 🐷

I think I’ve put on 2lbs now 😬

7+5

BabyG123 · 17/06/2020 07:32

@OrangeJ I think my want for carbs is being balanced by not being able to eat a few times per day with nausea 🀣 so far I haven't but as I'm in the over weight category I can't really πŸ€ͺπŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

OP posts:
Skyla01 · 17/06/2020 11:50

@Hopefulmummie I'm glad you're but sorry there isn't a quick and easy treatment for you. Hope it will be sorted soon.

Skyla01 · 17/06/2020 11:54

@OrangeJ I have been tracking my weight out if interest (and the pregnancy app I use has a weight tracker). A week after getting a positive test I had put on 1.5kg!! But it must have been fluid or something as it disappeared again a week later. Now I'm actually a kg lighter than at the start, I think because odd evening's I can only manage a bowl of cereal rather than a proper dinner (and also missing my usual evening chocolate!). But I've been eating more this week so hope weight creeps up again soon. I definitely went through a carb craving phase a few weeks ago, my diet was terrible but I just couldn't manage very much of it.

@sachaf08 how is your nausea?
