@Positivetime I'm glad your scan went well. Did they give you a pic? I've never heard of a fibroid

I'm sure they would have let you know if it was a bad thing x

MoonW · 27/05/2020 14:03

@BabyDust13 I’m pleased you’ve got your appointment details! Fingers crossed for you.

@Positivetime Glad all is fine with baby! Did they discuss the fibroid with you if it meant anything or if it was something needed to be kept an eye on? I’m not sure about anything to do with it unfortunately, but I’m sure someone here will be able to offer some advice. How many weeks are you?

Skyla01 · 27/05/2020 14:26

@Positivetime that's great news that all is ok.

sachaf08 · 27/05/2020 15:49

@Positivetime I've not had any personal experience with fibroids but from what I've heard they're not a concern and won't be treated unless they cause symptoms which apparently most don't. I think I read somewhere 1 in 3 women has fibroids. I'm not an expert but I dont think you should worry particularly if they didn't say much to you about it!

OrangeJ · 27/05/2020 16:21

@MoonW Congrats on your BFP! πŸŽ‰

@BabyDust13 glad you’ve got your scan booked in pretty quick and this time tomorrow you will be feeling more reassured. X

@Positivetime glad your scan went well. I’m sure if the fibroid was a concern they would have said something. Could you call them up to double check?

I’ve called my gp this afternoon to tell them and get myself booked in etc. (Bearing in mind nhs website does state to call as soon as you know you are pregnant). Told the gp my ovulation date - 8th May, and that I got a positive test last Monday and have been testing positive since then. She asked me to double check my dates and confidently told me that, and I quote, my dates β€œmake no sense”. I double checked as she had me doubting myself and feeling very stupid and they are 100% right! Do medical professionals not know about 10miu tests? And more to the point, does it matter when I got the positive test?! I really dislike this doctor. I’ve been to her once before to ask about irregular periods and PCOS. She told me β€œit’s very common, lots of women have it and if you have got it, there’s nothing you can do about it”.

Anyway, she went on to say that I was very early (I know this, but following nhs guidance here!) and nobody would need to do anything with me until the 12 week scan. So maybe I don’t get a booking appointment in my area? When she asked where I wanted to have the baby I explained that we will have moved house by then to Cambridge (currently in Essex, my postcode is 29 miles from Rosie hospital in Cambridge), she told me they don’t refer to that hospital and to look on their website...but I have and they don’t take self-referrals. She suggests I have scans etc. in Essex and transfer at a later stage.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? I don’t know what it’s like to transfer care halfway through your pregnancy?

I feel so lost, unsupported and really don’t know what to do ☹️

OrangeJ · 27/05/2020 16:21

Sorry that you now have no ears left 🀭

MoonW · 27/05/2020 16:37

@OrangeJ thank you πŸ’• I’m sorry that you had such a poor experience ringing the GP! They sound awful from what you’ve said! I rang my GP surgery yesterday and the receptionist didn’t even take any of my details, just congratulated me and gave me the phone number for the local midwives so I could call and self-refer, they were lovely and confirmed I’d be around 4 weeks at the minute and to ring back in 2-3 weeks time to arrange a booking-in appointment with them, so may be worth ringing your doctors reception and just asking for the local midwife team’s phone number maybe and seeing what they say rather than giving details or anything? πŸ’•

Skyla01 · 27/05/2020 16:43

@OrangeJ sorry about your experience. That gp sounds terrible, and she is giving out incorrect advice! I was told I need a booking appointment with midwife between 6 and 8 weeks. This can either be made via GP (with midwife attached to the surgery), or self-referral to local midwife unit.

You could try asking gp receptionist (I haven't spoken to gp at all, just receptionist who made appointment with midwife for me). Or try and speak to another gp! Might be best just to bypass GP entirely though!

OrangeJ · 27/05/2020 17:51

Thanks @Skyla01 and @MoonW. I was just expecting the receptionist to give the number and was surprised when she said the gp would call me back this afternoon. Maybe they’re not very busy πŸ˜‚

I might try the receptionist again in a couple of days and just ask for the number. Thanks girls. Xx

Littlepeas2 · 27/05/2020 22:53

Ah @OrangeJ what a horrible experience. I hope you have better luck calling your midwife team. I have no experience with transferring but I can see why that would be worrying you. Definitely worth speaking to the midwife team as they will be probably be more reassuring!

@BabyDust13 wishing you lots of luck for your scan tomorrow!!

BabyDust13 · 28/05/2020 08:23

@Littlepeas2 thank you I'm so nervous I've got a morning of work to get through first should take my mind off it

MoonW · 28/05/2020 09:28

@BabyDust13 lots of luck for your scan today ✨

OrangeJ · 28/05/2020 10:59

Morning all. So I phoned Rosie today and they were lovely and said there’s absolutely no reason why I couldn’t go there and my gp can refer me, just that she Is choosing not to. A couple of phone calls to and fro my surgery which ended in me crying in frustration to the receptionist has got me a referral! They do say you shouldn’t make a pregnant woman cry don’t they?! Haha.

Best of luck today @BabyDust13 xx

Skyla01 · 28/05/2020 11:16

@BabyDust13 all the best for you scan.

@OrangeJ who is Rosie? At least you got your referral in the end.

Sorry I've been kind of quiet. I'm feeling worse each day :( hope I don't need to end up taking time off work.

OrangeJ · 28/05/2020 11:52

Aw @skyla01 that really sucks you’re feeling so bad πŸ˜” hope you feel better soon.

Sorry, Rosie is the name of the hospital in Cambridge. Hopefully it all works out. What a palaver.

MoonW · 28/05/2020 16:04

@OrangeJ Glad you’ve managed to be referred!

@Skyla01 I’m sorry you’re feeling so poorly, hope it eases up a bit for you x

So I’ve got myself in a right flap this afternoon. I’ve been out and about and was sure I was out of the sun and covered up, but I’ve come home and just noticed I’ve managed to catch and burn my shoulder/top of one arm in the sun and stupidly googled to see if it would have an impact on pregnancy! Just hoping I haven’t ruined it all Sad

BabyG123 · 28/05/2020 16:34

@MoonW I believe only if it raises your body temperature or you're dehydrated it can cause issues. Drink up and have a nice cool bath x

Hey ladies

I've had my scan all went well saw the little bean with a nice strong heartbeat dated at 5+5.

They also saw something else they aren't sure if it's the beans cord or another embryo so I have another scan next week to find out if it's twins

So excited πŸ₯³β€οΈ

sachaf08 · 28/05/2020 17:10

@BabyDust13 I'm so glad it went well!! And how exciting if it is twins! ( Still exciting if it's just one though!)

sachaf08 · 28/05/2020 17:11

@BabyDust13 sorry forgot to ask, did the dating match up to what you expected?

MoonW · 28/05/2020 17:13

@BabyDust13 I’m so glad to hear it went well, and how exciting!

MoonW · 28/05/2020 17:14

@BabyG123 thank you for the advice, I’ve drunk another 500mls of water and sitting in front of the fan. I also took my temp before putting the fan on and it was the same as this morning (36.81) so hoping everything will be ok. I’m a natural worrier at the best of times and just feeling so worried about everything at the moment x

BabyDust13 · 28/05/2020 17:52

@sachaf08 I thought I was 6+1 so only a couple of days out ❀️

BabyG123 · 28/05/2020 18:24

@MoonW you're welcome
