was smirking at glammammas bee-knees haircuts til i remembered my lower sixth confection of shaved temples, long crimped pony tail and upright quiff which took hairspray and sugar water rinses to keep upright...i wouldn't go out on windy days.

glammama · 20/09/2007 13:27

sugar water! I remember using cans of Elnette! I can still smell it now. Havig reread my post I think it looked like I had a quiff simultaneously with the dreadlocks. No No No ladies, that would have been a crime of fashion that only someone like Merrberry (see previous post) would have committed . No, my hairstyles ran concurrently! Sorry, I seem to have hijacked this thread yet again. Is anyone else familiar with the having too much work to do and still being bored phenomena? Come on wimmin, make me laugh....

glammama · 20/09/2007 13:29

re the windy days......the old approach to Piccadilly Station in Manchester used to play havoc with my quiff too. It was not very cool to hold onto one's quiff whilst bent double into the gales And at school they called me Wacaday after the parrot.

merryberry · 20/09/2007 14:53

glammamafunnily enough, not so many people talked to me to call me anything when i pitched up with that hair cut. and the DMs. and the plaid mini-kilt.

modsaluk · 20/09/2007 15:13

preggersagain · 20/09/2007 15:16

congrat mods! I'm having twins as well!

how many sets of twins do we have now??? 3,4.......5??

modsaluk · 20/09/2007 15:21

oh preggersagain, thank god, i am a little worried about it all with having a two year old too. Do you have any other children ?

glammama · 20/09/2007 15:28

Double Congratulations Modsaluk. You will get lots of support on this thread, espcially from preggersagain.

Merryberry, I still wear DMs, not the same ones of course! Hoping I'll still be able to tie them myself come next week!

imjin100 · 20/09/2007 15:33

modsaluk, welcome and big congratulations. Lots of support here from people expecting twins, and lots of wierd envy from those of us who aren't! Thrilled for yoiu and for us as take great pride in our march threaders.
a lot of chat today, can't keep up but hoep everyone is well.
I'm missing daily dose of chocolate and have yet to find a sugar free alternative but that said the MW would be proud of me, 4 days of no sugar is good going - I will knock diabeties into touch....I will, will, will.

gingercat12 · 20/09/2007 15:33

Mumofmonsters I am in Newcastle, although not a Geordie.

Brazilianmum · 20/09/2007 15:49

Welcome Mods and my1stbaby. We've been hard at work this afternoon haven't we??? I feel so tired today, was on a conference call and alsmot started dozing off in front of my director. MS was back today because I had lot's of meetings and didn't have a chance to eat till 1. Feel very lethargic compared to you lot doing exercise DVDs and swiming. have been saying I will go swimming every night but by the time I get home just want to take the dog for a walk and have dinner. Must have more willpower.

I think I am going to try to go to the Baby Show on Friday as I don't like big crowds and Sat/Sun will be manic. We should definitely arrange a meeting up so we can look around all the lovely baby things and compare notes.

ClaphamLauren · 20/09/2007 16:56

Imjin - Thorntons do a good range of diabetic chocolate and it's actually quite nice! I used to get my god kids choc from there!

my1stbaby · 20/09/2007 17:26

Hello again everyone! Been having a nightmare of a day. Still working hard, well...suppose to be anyway . Am having a quick break and thought I'd check on you guys and what brill news from modsaluk eh . So double congrats are in order.

brazilianmum, preggers has actually convinced me to go to the fri baby show. Think might drag MIL along as BF would already have her newborn by then and wouldn't want to be drag round on a baby show LOL! Would be grand to meet up for tea and cake though.

x

turtle23 · 20/09/2007 19:01

modsaluk-welcome and big congrats! Very jealous!
I'm too exhausted today. Been up since 4 and fading fas...night all.

glammama · 20/09/2007 19:07

Gosh turtle, 4am! Good night.
Everyone for the London cake meet up:- I've taken the radical step of suggesting a date and place on t'other thread. I know all people can't make that date but I can! So, at the risk of coming across all selfish, I've just taken the bull by the horns. And as the fattest lady here I think I should be accorded due respect when it comes to the consumption of cake Plus my grandfather was a patisserie baker, beat that!!

skidoodle · 20/09/2007 19:28

hi all,

night night turtle,

welcome and congrats modsaluk.

I love that merryberry and glamma were both doc-wearing, quiff-sporting teenagers. How cool

nothing major here. am in love with bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Not quite the New York bagels I've been craving, but will do until I visit.

my1stbaby · 20/09/2007 19:29

emm...which other thread glammama re. tea and cake ?

derah · 20/09/2007 19:38

Ugh, dragged my poor self off the sofa where I've been camped all day. Seems I have food poisoning, which started straight after supper last night. Made me very grateful that I never had morning sickness! Anyway, haven't been sick since this morning but am soooooooooooo weak and floppy and being vertical makes me feel quite ill so I'm off back to the sofa. But I do keep having bouts of ravenous hunger between feeling ill so baby is letting me know he/she needs to eat!!

glammama · 20/09/2007 19:49

Oh Poor you Derah, I hope you feel better very soon.

Sorry 1stbaby, this thread

fitnforty · 20/09/2007 20:43

was feeling knackered today so unnaturally pleased to hear belly dancing was cancelled due to the teacher being sick...

Also not feeling the best after being stung by a wasp for the 2nd time this week. Tues morning one dropped into my hair and got me on the top of the head, today one got me through my fleece right underneath the bra strap. How did it manage that huh?

Would love to do the baby show on the friday, but given work at the moment, am saving all my leave for Feb! So making a weekend of it in London with the show on the saturday

merryberry · 20/09/2007 21:19

fitnforty, poor soddingluck that. derah, get well soon.

imjin100 · 20/09/2007 21:52

derah sorry to hear you aren't well and sorry about the wasps fitnforty - not good at all. Apparently there ahve been loads more this year - something about the lack of sunshine I assume!
Amazon parcel arrived today with the dreaded davina dvd. Having had flu figure can't yet hit gym so going to give it a try tomorrow morning for a gentle work out - something better than nothing I think. I did walk home rather than taking my second bus tonight so 20 minutes walk which is something.
DH out with the boys tonight, my parents coming to stay tomorrow so an opportunity for a bit of tidying (eg making a big pile of stuff and dumping in a drawer).
Hope everyone feels better tomorrow - you are brave going to that baby show, I'm afraid you wouldn't get me there if you paid me...except to spy on you guys of course and then i'd be there like a shot!
night all.

tori32 · 20/09/2007 22:04
