Hi all, its taken me nearly an hour to catch up with the gen!

I started my mat leave 4 wks before (2 wks of that was AL). I suppose it depends on how you feel and the type of job. I was still scrubbed for 4 hours at the operating table on the afternoon I left, so stood on my feet for long periods. I also didn't have any medical issues like high bp.

CL take care and I hope everything is ok.

LOL at turtle with the eating for triplets!
Last time I put on a staggering 4st 10lbs so am being very careful this time! Have still put on 9lbs though! Now 5'6'' and 11st 10lbs. ( Have never been really skinny though.)

Very worried that I will look like a tramp at the meet up though, as my DH has been away so I haven't had chance to go shopping. What are people wearing?

derah · 05/10/2007 16:09

Tori - I only do scruffy, so don't worry about that! No makeup, heels or smart clothes for me unless it's a major event (and even then, I never wear heels). So, it'll be jeans or other comfy trousers and one of my lovely collection of swing tops for me!

Brazilianmum · 05/10/2007 16:36

I'm quite lucky as we are on felxi time here, so i can troll in any time up until 10.30 very day, so I leave the house to get a train I know won't be too full.

HolidaysQueen · 05/10/2007 16:38

e14mum - i don't want to go back full time, and would ideally do 3 days but think 4 days will be most i can get them to agree to.

my work gives me 6 months full pay on mat leave which is wonderful as we should be able to afford for me to have the full 12 months off, but this is a retention thing so i need to commit to going back for 6 months or else i have to pay it back. I'm hoping to go back for the 6 months at 4 days a week and then hope to switch to a consultancy type role (either here or at another company) working more flexible hours. DH has just got a new job so finally earning more than me, so we should hopefully be able to afford for me to go part time provided i can find a suitable job.

id love to set up my own business like derah is planning - just need to get a good idea first!!!

Lottie22 · 05/10/2007 17:23

On the weight gain thing - Prisci I think you and I must have similar builds as I have only put on about 1.5kg too and my boobs are still a disappointing 32b. Am getting very envious of all the big bazookas described by most people here! Heard the baby's heartbeat today though, so he is definitely still there (had started to wonder) - MW said that at around 15 weeks it's very normal for people to start feeling unpregnant...

piggyp · 05/10/2007 17:50

CL - poor you, I hope you are feeling better!
Hello Moop.
My MW didn't weigh me at my 17 week appointment so I don't know what's happening. I think I'm shrinking in some places and growing in others! In fact MW didn't seem very interested at all - heard LO's heart beat and the normal wee check and that was it!
Really bad stretchy ligament feelings in my side today, or I might have pulled something - I just can't get used to sleeping on my side! Is it normal to have 'side pains' at 18 + 4?
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'll be thinking of you with dopplers tomorrow!

PurlyQueen · 05/10/2007 18:15

Have a fantastic time eating cakes and comparing bumps. I wish I could be there to put faces to names, but hopefully there will be a another meet-up!

MarchMum · 05/10/2007 19:05

Agree with skidoodle on weight issue and I've read (in the expect when you are expecting book) the same as her dr/mw said. And just in case you are worried, I have an extreme case - I have lost 5kg since pg (which means I've probably lost 7 and 1.5 back on from weight of baby). I've been v. sick. Anyways, Dr/mw only concerned about length of baby on scan and measurement top of baby to pubic bone. It's all measuring right, in fact, a little big for gest age so they say don't worry. Books confirm. Besides, when you lose/gain, you don't really know where it's going - may be coming off somewhere but gaining on baby.

I would also prescribe coming for cakes tomorrow to add to weight. Wearing only pair of pants that fit me - black Top Shop maternity jeans :.) Looking forward to it!

PS Can't remember who has headaches but I've got them too and it's HELL!

tori32 · 05/10/2007 19:14

Oh good! Jeans are good for me! I only do casual!

tori32 · 05/10/2007 19:15

moop welcome, kept forgetting to say that on earlier threads!

turtle23 · 05/10/2007 19:22

I promise to find something in my wardrobe to wear by tomorrow. May come to cakefest in fancy dress, tent, or possibly even husband's clothes. Maybe the jeans will last one more day...

glammama · 05/10/2007 19:39

Welcome Moop, and big hugs to CL. let us know how you are.
I will be wearing make up tomorrow (if I can find it) as my skin is pretty spotty now and I hate it. And I can't bear anything round my waist bar tights so jeans are out. Which only leaves my stretchy black dress, which sounds posher than it really is! Typically, my lovely warm new maternity coat from ebay arrived this week and now it's too warm to wear it. Not that I'm complaining!
May even wash my hair as I don't get out much these days!
I'm a bit nervous about tomorrow. I'm not comparing you ladies to a dodgy bloke off Match. com but my last experience of meeting someone off tinternet was a bit strange! But I did get quite a lot of furniture and a living room floor out of it- long story! Plus there's the fact that you might all hate me!

turtle23 · 05/10/2007 19:50

Glam...we could never hate you. You're very cool. Let's all remember that we're all pregnant and not expect to have to turn up looking like supermodels!

Brazilianmum · 05/10/2007 19:56

Really looking forward to tomorrow. I think wearing comfortable clothes should be the order of the day. Saying that not sure what I'll be wearing myself yet.

Going to an NCT nearly new sale in the morning to have a browse, dragging DP who seems to be in a foul mood tonight. Poor thing has been working too hard. But even so it's going to be a lot harder come March and he will have to pull his socks more as I hate living in a dirty house. Mess I don't mind so much to a point but dirt I can't stant. So cleaning after dog and feeding said dog will be up to him.

If he complains I can tell him that the day he can breast feed we can switch roles.

i was thinking to myself abotu whether we are going to start talking in MN slang tomorrow. So using to saying and reading DP, DD, DS, MW etc it would be funny.

derah · 05/10/2007 19:57

I've warned work that if I don't turn up next week it's cos I've been kidnapped and sold by weird internet preggie ladies!

Really looking forward to meeting you all. And I'm very sure you're lovely, Glammama!

3madboys · 05/10/2007 20:01

hope you all have a great meet tomorrow, if dp wasnt working i would have thought about hoping on the train and coming to join you, but unfortunately his shifts are all over the place at the minute.

i am getting nervous about my scan next week, its on fri at 3:40, will be exciting to see the bean tho, i cant believe that i am half way when i lie down now i have alittle bump which sticks up between my hip bones even dp says something is going on, however as soon as i am dressed you cant tell i am getting to the stage where i want a bump now.

merryberry · 05/10/2007 21:06

got to hear the match.com story tomorrow

MerlinsBeard · 05/10/2007 21:14

CL let us know how you get on

enjoy your cakes tomorrow, someone eat a huge piece for me (like i need to ask )

fitnforty · 05/10/2007 21:31

have a great time tomorrow those who are meeting up, have a piece of cake on me!
I'm off to Northumberland for a week's break by the sea where i can hopefully relax a bit.

Toddled over to the GP yesterday as my pulse was fast so wanted to have my BP checked, have ended up being referred to a cardiologist! Do they deliberately try to scare the sh*t out of you? BP was fine though, just got an average resting pulse of about 96 at the moment

Very jealous of those of you getting so much mat leave on almost full pay! HAve been properly stitched up in work by triggering a review of our policy. Was 6 wks at 100% plus a 20% bonus on basic for 12 months on return to work. Then they said they didn't want to encourage shop-floor type staff to return, so would change policy to 6wks 100%, 6 wks 90%, no bonus. Have now found out it'll just be the crap statutory 90% for 6 wks an nowt else. Going to phone CAB to find out if they can legally do that after I notified them but suspect they've found a way to avoid it being classed as discrimation since it's been passed by Legal dept.

With all the extra stress, don't think i'll last as long as i want before going on mat leave, but due to crap pay during it, will have to stay longer to be able to afford the time off afterwards! HAve got my replacement starting next week, but although I'll be expected to work a day over Xmas and a weekend straight after new year, new girl won't! Think I'll have to get signed off to avoid the extra work!!!

Sorry for ranting, got to get it off my chest (and that's a big shelf to slide off )

Speak to you all in a week or so

HolidaysQueen · 06/10/2007 09:36

Morning all! I hope everyone meeting up has a fab time (v sad I can't be with you, but will make sure I eat cake anyway!) and that everyone else has a fab weekend

glammama · 06/10/2007 09:46

Hello all,
Sorry we're not going to all meet up today. Perhaps we can have a pre-Christmas meet and try and get everyone if possible together. I'm starting to feel a bit like I'm going on a blind date today. A blind date with several pregnant women, Cilla never thought of that!

piggyp · 06/10/2007 10:11

Hope you all have I lovely time today! I like the idea of a pre christmas meet-up. I have just phoned mw because my (very small) bump suddenly went rock hard. Apparently this is normal - why does know one tell you these things!
DH out today so going to spend day eating carrot cake, making free-from-nasty-chemicals moisturiser and lip balms and watching rugby / men's muscles. Mmmmmm....

e14mum · 06/10/2007 10:23

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving everyone! What a great weekend for a autumn hike, then a big roast dinner(turkey if poss) and pumpkin pie for dessert!!

(I was up last night making said pumpkin pie It's a bit like Marmite, you usually love it or hate it!)

So if you're pigging out anywhere, or enjoying the sunshine then have a great day!

gingercat12 · 06/10/2007 11:21

A pre-Christmas meeting sounds nice, if we can organise it.
I'll have a cake as well today. Although just like fitnforty somewhere in Northumberland.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving e14mum!

3madboys · 06/10/2007 14:10

hope you all have a fab time today, i am having a lazy day, unlike the bump who is really really really wriggly its lovely tho to be able to feel it move so much, and now you can feel it when you put your hand on my belly, as long as i am lying down, ds1 is very impressed 6 days till my 20wk scan i think i am the first to have it on here?
