preggersagain...oooh...beady eye on your wealth of experience then: does your shop have any bedside cots in? i can only find ONE on the web, surely there are moret han one around?

turtle23 · 19/09/2007 19:00

For those of you who feel overwhelmed by the choices of baby stuff...come shopping with me! I have tried almost every baby product and even if it wasn't for me I can tell you how it works. The shopping is the best bit! Honest! The only thing I have zero knowledge on is nappies(real, I mean) and would love to have someone to drag round Mothercare for the sheer joy of comparing prams and bottles.

Oh yes, shall we start the "which bottles would you use if not breast feeding" topic? HeeHee!
(Avent, by the way..)

preggers...which nappies do you stock?

Just want to say hi to everyone and introduce myself . Been lurking for ages and ages but been a bit shy of posting. I am 15+2 with my 1st baby (hence the name ) and EDD is 10th March. Been a fairly eventful pregnancy so far, with horrible MS, heartburn, constipation, imsomnia, early pg bleeding etc etc sigh... but very pleased to have made the 1st trimester. Think the MS is easing of slightly ie only sick after meals and not all the time!!

I've been following closely the discussion on food, cloth nappies and prams . Food wise, no cravings so far but don't like anything too sweet but I do force down a chocy biccy or two. Gone off all types of tea, normal or herbal .

Don't know a thing about cloth nappies but interested to find out more from you expert ladies in here .

Pram/push chair-OMG, that's my most dreaded thing! Am such a short arse, only 5ft and very weedy. Was in tears last weekend in Mamas and Papas trying to unfold and fold their Pliko pramette . Poor DH has to apologise and ushered me out pronto!

preggers am interested in the Stokke as I need one that's high up as have a bad back. Wasn't planning to go to Baby Show as ticket quite expensive but might do now to see you for a demo . Do I have to book a time or just turn up? Any tips as to where can I get complimentary tickets

turtle I would love to come shopping with you, that sounds like a dream. I hate shopping except for clothes. Buying other things makes me want to cry. Luckily my DH loves to shop and figure out the best things and find bargains.

Is there a dad's thread where they talk about such matters? Maybe if he could get all competetive about it he might get all interested and then I could just delegate all those duties to him.

Welcome back studentmum, I always knew you weren't a real apriler

merryberry, are you talking about one of those cots that sort of go right beside your bed so you can do night feeds without having to wake up properly? That's the only thing I'm sure I want, it sounds AWESOME.

skidoodle · 19/09/2007 19:15

Hi my1st and welcome!

10th of March is my 2nd EDD, my other one is 8th March, so we're sort of date buddies

It's my first too, so I'm totally clueless about prams. Seems you already have some idea of what you're looking for.

Some of my friends have ones with 3 wheels that seem to have good suspension and so work on all kinds of terrain. They seem cool. Don't know what they're called though.

studentmum1 · 19/09/2007 19:24

i can't believe everyones already talking about baby stuff... and prams! omg!! i'm just gonna stick to my cliche bugaboo! i think its vintage now!! i have had about 30 plus prams for dd1 and have had allsorts!

ones to avoid in my opinion are mamas and papas, i only had one, and its was awful to push.
i have had a lot of three wheelers, these are lovely to push but don't fold down very small, also don't get one without numatic tyres.

glammama · 19/09/2007 19:31

Evening all! I had a fab bedside cot for DD which I'll somehow be trying to squeeze into this bedroom -cot It cost a couple of hundred quid but it was great as I seemed to breastfeed solidly with her.

As to tickets for babyshow, my antenatal clinic had a voucher, buy one adult at 14.50 and get another adult free. I picked up a couple if anyone wants one..

And exciting news..... a thread I started is on the fornt page as a Discussion of the Day!!!! Fame!!! Can you guess which one it is?

my1stbaby · 19/09/2007 19:33

Hi skidoodle yay, EDD buddy . You've given me far too much credit, I am totally clueess but just popped in to M&P to buy friend a baby present and thought I should check it out since I'm here IYSWIM? Was so upset having to come away in tears. Fortunately have already bought present for firends baby . All I know is what I can't have due to my numerous limitation not least being vertically challenged .

I would love to go shopping with someone who can tell me what to buy and what's best. I am flailing alone in the dark. It's kind of exciting but daunting too. So far DH has been great but think he got a bit worried after my antics at the w/end. He's away overseas at the mo, so am having quite a nice time on my own with little beanie.

By the way, anybody doing any form of exercise. I need to get off my fat arse and do something I think. Problem is it's impossible to find any ante-natal pregnancy classes here, believe me I tried phoning round almost all day today. Can't get motivated to do at home on my own.

glammama · 19/09/2007 19:40

Do you mean a DD who takes forever to eat or a fab BRio cot?

glammama · 19/09/2007 19:41

Sorry, you mean a voucher!!!!!!! pregnant brain

glammama · 19/09/2007 19:43

email me at [email protected] with your details, 1stbaby

PurlyQueen · 19/09/2007 19:43

Which pram/pushchair?

That'll be my anxiety dream for tonight .

Last night I dreamt that my poor baby was cg itself everywhere because I have no idea how to change a nappy.

MarchMum · 19/09/2007 19:43

So glad to hear others are having headaches - not that i am happy you are in pain but so glad I am not the only one. Has been a bad week in that dept.

BrazilianMum and others - I've heard the NCT sales are worth checking out - I am going to this one: Nov 3 ? North West London NCT Nearly New Sale, 10am?12pm, Mazenod Community Centre, Mazenod Avenue, London NW6 4LS

And to the baby show on the 19th - if others will be there on Friday let me know and we could organize a second get together.

HolidaysQueen - I think your approach to risk during pregnancy mirrors your approach in life. My friends who are uber cautious wash their lettuce eight times and tut at me for drinking wine. I am not boozing, just having a glass/half glass when I am out or at a special occasion. I don't eat raw meet, blue cheese, runny eggs and have coffee once a week - everything else I do. (GP said coffee (1 cup) is good idea if headache really bad). And I feel good about all of it. But that level of risk is how I am normally. I think the myriad of reactions are quite interesting as well. Everyone seems to find evidence to support their position/comfortable level of risk! :.) The French are clearly on the high end, god bless em!

my1stbaby · 19/09/2007 19:44

for asking! I would be hapy to give you some money for it

my1stbaby · 19/09/2007 19:45

oh glammama thank you so much!!! . I will email you right now.

PurlyQueen · 19/09/2007 19:45

Oooh - another NW-Londoner!

I'll see you in the queue!

my1stbaby · 19/09/2007 19:55

Hi Purly, am not in London as live down south now. Was in North London for years and years but forced to move away last year as DH and I can't afford to buy a place. Missed it very much though. I commute to central london for work about 1-2 days a week, a bit of a drag but it's not too bad when trains and tubes are working.

Am just wondering if those who are going to the show could try to meet up for tea and cake??? I've never been to this type of show before s don't know what to expect.

x

MerlinsBeard · 19/09/2007 19:55

is there anyone NOT from down south in thi sthread...??

glammama · 19/09/2007 19:58

I know it doesn't help mom but I'm a Northerner trapped down south!!!!

MerlinsBeard · 19/09/2007 20:00

my1stbaby · 19/09/2007 20:04

Hi everyone, my god this does flow fast!!

DH trying to say that we don't need ANYTHING new at all for this one..Pushchair wise I have a battered 3 wheeler that I picked up for £25quid to go to my boys football and a 7 year old stroller with the 6 yr old buggy board attached, and my 8 yr old graco travel system that looks sooo old!!

Tried to convince him that it makes us look like gypsies to not keep up with the trends but he's having none of it!! I won't buy a new new one just a nice second hand one I was thinking, I'll need something with a toddler seat anyway cause Ds3 will be 18mths when lo comes.

Men - they just don't understand the whole pushchair thing do they!!!
