Oh, fun and games with nappies and dopplers on Saturday, this should be a blast!!

I was supposed to see my mw this week (16 weeks) but she's away so I have to wait until next week, so it will be fun to have a listen to baby before then. I was feeling all happy and reassured cos I had some movement, but now it seems to have more or less stopped (baby probably just changed position or I can't feel baby over all the gas rumblings I've been having this week ).

DH is very confused and bemused by this meeting on Saturday. He keeps asking me "Tell me again where you're going and why? Who are these people?" Not sure why he's having such a hard time getting his head around it! You're not all psycho murderers are you?

Brazilianmum · 02/10/2007 13:24

Well Derah, I guess he has reason to be worried. A bunch of hormonal pregnant women on a sugar high has to be quite scary.

merryberry · 02/10/2007 13:38

"Well Derah, I guess he has reason to be worried. A bunch of hormonal pregnant women on a sugar high has to be quite scary. AND ON MARYLEBONE HIGH STREET WHERE THEY SELL PRETTY PRETTY THINGS"

be very afraid, menfolk.

ClaphamLauren, you should have gone to my comprehensive. We were the only comp in north london playing lacrosse. Two probs with this: 1) the private schools initially assumed we were thugs and always got their retaliation in first and 2) who's idea was it to give a bunch of hormonal teen girls hard sticks to use at head height while trying to knock ball out of other tribal teenage girl's head height stick??

Prisci · 02/10/2007 14:03

Glammama on the line with BT too, completely understand you... how can they charge me £99 to come and fix a fault, not fix it and then tell me it is because they sent the wrong person around....and for the issue they think it might be I need to be home since they can't come to fix but need to do it remotely...which they need to do by Appointment during working hours etc...which I can't do because I work....etc...45min with them.... It is probably my hormones but....

derah · 02/10/2007 14:55

Hee hee, yes, London had better watch out for this gathering of preggers women on a sugar rush armed with dopplers and nappies!! LOL!!!

I asked this on the meet-up thread but thought I'd put it here too in case it hadn't been seen - is anyone else coming in from Waterloo, and if so would you like to meet up at the station and go the rest of the way together?

Brazilianmum · 02/10/2007 14:57

Hi Derah, I will be coming from SE London so can meet at Waterloo and then get the Bakerloo together to Marylebone.

ClaphamLauren · 02/10/2007 15:10

I had never thought about lacrosse like that! It's probably more dangerous than hockey if you play with any girls that you don't like etc.

If I do come on Saturday I will be going to Waterloo too, changing from the Northern to Bakerloo Line. Can let you know nearer the time Derah.

Has anyone else had any dizzy/passing out spells? I've hit the deck twice today and it's terribly embarrassing (especially this morning on the tube, apologies to anyone using the Bakerloo Line at 8:30ish this morning, someone pulled the emergency cord - sigh - it's easier to wait for the next stop commuters, come on!)
Will pop to the docs this afternoon to check it out as I do have low iron and low blood pressure so I expect it is just a combo of the two.

Do I sound like a crazy over-worrying first timer much?!

Lottie22 · 02/10/2007 15:25

Hello from another over-worrying first timer! Baby due 26th March.

I too have had tube problems (underground, that is) - got stuck in a tunnel without any power on the Jubilee this morning. Thank goodness I had a seat.

Anyone finding it difficult to eat proper food in the evenings? I seem only to be able to manage the odd bowl of cereal or toast, though did manage to get some fish down me last night. Also not feeling particularly pregnant apart from the lack of appetite...roll on bump! Anyone else feeling that way? I actually keep forgetting I'm pregnant and then wonder why people are saying 'congratulations' to me.

monthlymayhem · 02/10/2007 16:05

LOL at the thought of you all lying in a coffee shop listening to heartbeats . If you can, you must take a picture of the group and post it afterwards as it would be great for all of us that can't be there to see you!! Well I guess that's only if you all don't mind having your photo on here

I was hoping my doppler would arrive today so have been listening out for the postman all day, but doesn't look like it...will just have to wait until tomorrow.

Work has actually been much better today and for the first time in weeks I'm not feeling stressed...glammama, hope you're putting your feet up and feeling better for it too.

Oh and one more thing - I've got a meeting with my work HR tomorrow to discuss maternity leave etc and they've asked that I brink my 'MATB1' form with me Has anyone else been given this yet as I haven't - or is it something you need to ask for from the midwife?

preggersagain · 02/10/2007 16:08

mm- you won't get your Mat B1 until about 28 weeks- your hr dept should know that!!!

hope all is well- i've crawled out of my hiding hole for a few minutes to get more chocolate and beetroot

i'm enjoying a well earned break from work, which although restful is getting a bit boring now!!! Back off to watch the dvd again!

monthlymayhem · 02/10/2007 16:11

Thanks Preggers! Typical of my HR dept....

ClaphamLauren · 02/10/2007 17:03

I've lost track of how many days/weeks I am - is anyone else due 10th March to save me counting?

I'm being a lazy bugger

3madboys · 02/10/2007 17:09

well i am due on 29th feb, so you are about two weeks behind me, i am nearly 19wks now so you must be 16/17wks? i have my twenty week scan next week, i am excited but also slightly nervous.

i have also just had a driving lesson, i failed my test when i was ten wks preg, i got 6 minors and 1 serious but i havent had any lessons as since then as i wanted to wait until i stopped feeling sick and faint. i got in the car and could drive fine, did all my manouveres etc, no problems, i was worried i would have gone backwards having not driven for so long, but i new what to do just want to pass my test next time

ClaphamLauren · 02/10/2007 17:12

Thanks 3mb - that sounds about right! I have the dates somewhere!

Good luck with your driving, I'm going to do an intensive driving course and hopefully get it all out of the way in one go. It's horrible having the time pressure of wanting to pass before March.

20 week scan, how exciting! I don't get mine until 23 weeks so not for another 6 weeks, seems like ages away!

PurlyQueen · 02/10/2007 17:16

Is anyone else spending a fortune on bras? My current ones have given up the ghost. I've just bought two more - which were not especially cheap as I have to buy mine from Bravissimo, the shop for ample bosoms.

I shan't say what size they are now - I'm just terrified of having to have mine specially made by the time I reach 39 weeks!

HolidaysQueen · 02/10/2007 17:30

PurlyQueen - I too am worrying about my bra spend... I bought two new ones at 8 weeks from Bravissimo but the past couple of days my boobs have been so sore that I need to go again this weekend, at 16 weeks. So at the rate of 2 new bras every 8 weeks, they're going to be getting at least £300 from me for this pregnancy!

I'll bravely admit that I'm currently 34H and still growing - so much so, that last night I actively considered phoning Rigby and Peller to find out if I can afford a specially made nursing bra without having to take out a second mortgage. I can't imagine I'll fit into anything off the peg by March!!!

piggyp · 02/10/2007 17:49

I wish I could make it to London on Saturday ! None of my friends have babies and there doesn't seem to be anything in the way of NCT, pregnancy yoga classes etc in my part of North Norfolk! I was really hoping to meet some other mums-to-be! Asked mw if she knew of any classes, of any type - but she didn't. We're not booked in for the ante natal classes yet either! It's all very frustrating !

3madboys · 02/10/2007 18:02

piggyp, i am in norfolk too so maybe we could meet up sometime? i thought there was someone else on the list in norfolk too, but i cant remember for sure.

re bras i have a huge selection from my past three pregnancies, so have only bought one new one so far and was lucky that blooming marvellous had a sale on and i got an elle mcphereson one for £10 my bust doesnt seem to be changing that much at the mo but i am still feeding ds3 so maybe that is why?

incidentally i woke up this morning and i am starting to get a teeny bump, well dp says i just look like i have eaten too much cake and my jeans still fit, but there is definelty a curve there

derah · 02/10/2007 18:16

Lauren - I'm 16 weeks (17 on Friday) and due either 11 or 15 March depending who you believe so you must be about the same as me.

Oh bras, been buying loads. I was complaining about it the other day. Just bought the Bravado ones someone suggested. The package has been at the PO depot since Friday but tomorrow is the first chance I'll have to pick it up. Got my new maternity swimming coz in there too; the one I've been using for aqua natal is getting too small and isn't nearly supportive enough!

PurlyQueen · 02/10/2007 18:26

My bra size is now - gulp - a 36HH

derah · 02/10/2007 18:33

My goodness, you ladies with H-bras! I thought my DDs were impressive!!

PurlyQueen · 02/10/2007 18:39

Derah - you are most welcome to them .

I was a G cup before I conceived and I really miss being able to pick up bras at M&S. Bravissimo were lovely, but my face was a picture when the sales assistant told me that i may go up another 2 cup sizes

Turning over at night has become a real problem thanks to my tender boobs.

turtle23 · 02/10/2007 19:46

2 years ago I was a AA. Had breast implants to make me a small C. Now a DD and expanding daily...guess should have just hung on a bit longer!!

OP posts:
derah · 02/10/2007 19:59

PQ, no really, I don't want them thanks! I'll be happy to get back to my regular c-cup! I feel like a right tart at the moment with cleavage showing no matter what I wear unless it's a polo-neck!!!

derah · 02/10/2007 20:05

There's a lovely thread here with some great homebirth stories for anyone thinking about a home birth.
