I'll start one!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MarchMum · 01/10/2007 18:37

Mine too! Have booked 6 trips/'trip'ettes' before 30 weeks hits

merryberry · 01/10/2007 18:38

we did this posho weekend away antenatal course with ds, so dp could be there for all of it. it was fab: nice hotel, great food, small class, NCT syllabus, two trainers. was 800 quid odd for whole weekend. sounds a lto, but it's a great two nights away plus priceless to ensure he could be there for it all. won't go again, will just do the natal hypnotherapy again, cross my fingers for luck etc...

but holidays, schmolidays now sigh so jealous of winter sunshine plans! what with basically 1 income, new mortgage and various other outlays, we'll be lucky to go at all next year. and I'm a big proponent of the end of 4th trimester holiday. with ds it made me flexible (swimming loads) and sane (no housework, on tap family help) again. I do so hope there's a chance next year.

derah, what does your name mean? derive from? it's cool. do we pronounce it to rhyme with 'stair-er'?

Prisci · 01/10/2007 19:27

Turtle and Holiday Queen don't worry you are not the only...also booked holidays at 28 weeks and some for after the baby is born, the only way I can face the fact I will be stuck on a small island for 6 months....

I agree with Holiday Queen, go for it, if is Sharm El Sheik, for the same reasons...enjoy .

derah · 01/10/2007 19:55

HQ and MarchMum - v jealous of all your holidays. We never go anywhere because a) we can't afford it and b) DH suffers from a terrible case of inertia and it's very hard to get him to leave the house! I'd love to travel lots. Plus we both have families abroad so even when we do go anywhere, it's only ever to the same old places to visit them.

That said, we're off to South Africa for Christmas. Yes, it's to visit my family, but we're going to the Cape, which is somewhere both of us have only been once before, and many years ago, and we get our own holiday cottage rather than staying in relative's houses, so I'm really really looking forward to it. I got travel insurance through the Post Office, and it covers travel up to 32 weeks.

MerryBerry - Derah is short for Deborah. Debbie never really worked for me. Pronounced like Sarah but with a D.

Turtle, cool, sounds like you aren't under any illusions! Glad you like babies - I just don't! Glad it's not just me Brazillianmum!! You put all this time, love, care and effort into looking after babies and all you get back is sick on your shoulder! At least DD is full of love and cuddles now - so much more rewarding!

Turtle and anyone else interested in the cloth nappies, if there are any ones you're specifically interested in please let me know asap, since the lady who runs Surrey Real Nappy Network is making me up a package of nappies to bring along and show you, and she asked what I needed.

Right, off to make lasagne, YUM!
Right, off to make lasagne!

PurlyQueen · 01/10/2007 20:07

We're only going on this one because it's a 40th birthday present from his parents to him.
I can't wait - we're going to fly to NY, train to Washington DC and spend the rest of the time in Virginia Beach.
I'm going to eat my way down the Eastern Seaboard and stock up on maternity gear. With an exchange rate of more than $2 to the pound it would be daft not to

MarchMum · 01/10/2007 20:36

Everyone - bring nappies please!

I am bringing books I am done with to share if others want to do the same.

monthlymayhem · 01/10/2007 20:50

Oooh, I'm jealous of all of you going on holidays! I love going away, but we've already had a few this year and I don't have any holiday time left

I seem to start off the day with a flat tummy and it slowly but surely gets rounder as the day goes on...but maybe that's just all the food I'm eating

I think I can start to feel some kind of movements - nothing definite, just vague sensations. I did give in and buy a doppler off of ebay yesterday, it should arrive tomorrow and I can't wait to try it as we only got to see the heat beating at the scan and not actually hear it. I'm hoping I can resist using it all the time, and only use the doppler when I need a bit of reassurance.

Finally told work today and everyone was very excited, so it was nice to be able to talk about pregnancy and babies etc.

On the 'coming out' front, I'm Vicky - I'm really disappointed I can't meet up on Saturday, but coming down from Scotland is a bit much!

PurlyQueen · 01/10/2007 21:20

In my case, I think my tummy is due to my new favourite food - jacket potato with butter and cottage cheese. No idea why I got that meal in my head - I rarely ate cottage cheese before I was pregnant. Perhaps I'm deficient in Vitamin D

glammama · 02/10/2007 08:51

What's a holiday then? I might squeeze in a very short trip to Paris with DP before March. The Eurostar station is moving to St Pancras which is only a 30 min bus ride away. Just got to get DP a new passport as his has expired. And the holiday money, and the spending money.
You know there's about 12 people on the June 08 thread. Soon, we'll be sixth formers.
Are Dopplers heavy? Are they the sort of thing that could be brought to French patisseries in central London ? My midwife said you couldn't hear the heartbeat at 16 weeks which I wanted to argue about but couldn't be bothered. So, just thought I'd drop a few heavy hints

I'm still online , maybe BT have seen the error of their ways. How can you terminate a line when there are no bills outstanding? They drive me potty, they really do.

merryberry · 02/10/2007 09:25

oooh, yes am also v close to st pancras terminal, and v tempted by a quick trip

ClaphamLauren · 02/10/2007 10:15

Thank gosh lots of you are taking holidays! I'm flying at 28 weeks to Tenerife for some sun and to visit family, had some disapproving comments from MIL about flying so late. She almost convinced me I was being irresponsible!

Been feeling lots of flutters this morning it's a very odd sensation!

ClaphamLauren · 02/10/2007 10:38

Thank gosh?! I sound like something out of an Enid Blyton book. Apologies!

Also meant to say, Xplory Stokke, anyone know how collapsible it is?

HolidaysQueen · 02/10/2007 10:40

Oooh Enid Blyton - I always wanted to go to boarding school because of the midnight feasts and jokes they played on the French teachers at Mallory Towers...

ClaphamLauren · 02/10/2007 10:42

Me too! I used to beg my Mum to send me away to boarding school, I always wanted to learn how to play Lacrosse...

Feeling incredibly unmotivated to work this morning. Just eating Minstrels! Yum!

Brazilianmum · 02/10/2007 11:03

We are off to Chicago for 9 days to visit my brother and do some shopping. We will be there for halloween so will experience the whole trick or treating thing first hand.

Can anyone who is coming on Saturday bring their doppler? I had the same thing with the mw at 15 wks refusing to let me hear the hb, but last week dr did and it was so lovely.

Saw a woman with an Xplory on Saturday and it looked fantastic. Just don't think I can justify the price.

turtle23 · 02/10/2007 11:32

soooooz...I'll bring mine. Same size as a CD walkman thingy so not a problem. Problem may come in you trying to lie down a bit to use it, but you are always welcome!!

turtle23 · 02/10/2007 11:33

ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO CAN USE MY DOPPLER ON SATURDAY. Also, if anyone wants an Avent bottle warmer am bringing that too. xx

gingercat12 · 02/10/2007 11:39

I will spend Christmas in Hungary, but I have not made plans for later yet.

Gave a call to my hospital to book a parent education class and a breastfeeding workshop, and they could hardly squash me in for February. I will do the active birth course in the Sage Gateshead, where we will apparently sing to our LOs as well. It is called Musical Bumps.

ClaphamLauren · 02/10/2007 11:45

I have a friend who is selling her barely used Xplory as she prefers her Bugaboo Bee and is having a special model imported from NY - more money than sense!! Hoping she will sell it to me at a heavily discounted price as she is rich and I'm not... I have no shame in playing the sympathy card, hehe.

A proper halloween in America sounds awesome! One thing I really can't wait for is all of the childish things that having a kid allows you to really get involved in

glammama · 02/10/2007 11:46

Thank you turtle
I'll have to lie down on your laps ladies! Does it matter if one is a bit, well a lot, podgy? There's a lot of padding, ok, fat, for the heartbeat to travel through.
DR has signed me off for TWO weeks! I'm just about to do a bit of cleaning/tidying then I might have a little sit down, to recover, you understand.
Hope everyone is is taking it as easy as they can.
Oh and merryberry I think you're right with the knitting needle/ligament thing.

ClaphamLauren · 02/10/2007 11:54

Two weeks off... Jesus! Are you ok?

I was signed off for two weeks at the end of August and surprisingly ended up bored/worrying about work so much I didn't enjoy it all so try not to make that mistake. Put your feet up and make sure you get lots of TLC!

glammama · 02/10/2007 12:07

I'm fine, really, GP thinks I'm suffering from work related stress (and my ex is stressing me out a lot). Some time ago we posted about having upset stomachs, well I've had mine for over 2 months
So he said my treatment is 2 weeks putting my feet up and as he put Complications of Pregnancyon my certificate I'm exempt from sickness procedures at work. I love my GP I'm trying not to worry about work too much. Thanks for your support, CL.

e14mum · 02/10/2007 12:12

I used to love Halloween! And if you go to the shops the day after, they have all the little bags of candy reduced A LOT. Good for indulging chocolate cravings.

I'm giggling at the thought of us all crammed into PV lying across the chairs with a doppler trying to relax and listen to our LOs. Count me in! (90% sure I'll be able to come )

Have to go to the gp (again) this aft to get blood results. Really hoping she'll listen to the hb then. Fingers crossed!

And PQ- jacket potato with butter and cottage cheese? I'm drooling! One of my faves too.

e14mum · 02/10/2007 12:15

Glammama, sorry to hear about your stress, but glad you're able to take the time off. (And just think- you can call up Wild Cherry every day for 2 weeks to see if they're doing banoffee pie )

glammama · 02/10/2007 12:20

You know I never thought about calling Wild Cherry! And they do fab herby jacket potatoes with cottage cheese! Think I'll have to send out DP on his motorbike to fetch some in!
Marchmum Try and get us a table at PV with a banquette if they have one
