I'll start one!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
3madboys · 24/09/2007 20:18

((MOD)) if you are worried go to a&e or call your midwife, but let me say this is NOT a punishment for what you said, so do not start beating yourself up and worrying, bleeding is common in early pregnancy and quite often there is nothing to worry about.

given that you have had a fall etc and are worried i would say go and get checked out, do you have an early pregnancy unit at your hospital? if so try ringing them, they should be able to see you.

rest up xxxxxxxxx thinking of you and sending your beanies lots of good vibes.xxxxxxxx

onemore · 24/09/2007 20:26

I know it's hard but try not too worry.

The bump you had maybe just jolted them in there, it's a v good sign that there's only blood when u wipe but if I were you if any more bleeding starts then just go to a&e they're bound to give you a scan just to check.
I know in my area even if I just rang them in the morn & said what had happened they would get me in for a scan - don't be shy about asking.

Try & take it easy tonight. Can't really advise just hoping everything is ok for you. x

spugs · 24/09/2007 20:43

oh hun try not to worry to much.

theres a chance you might have pulled the placenta away a tiny bit but with such little blood loss its problys only tiny or im wrong! dont worry if it is btw,but see your midwife to be on the safe side.

was it red or brown blood and was it only there the once? and are you having any cramps? if theres anymore bleeding or you have any pains then get to a & e otherwise i would take it easy and ring midwife in the morning.

babies are very hardy and theres stories of women having absolutly gigantic falls and all being fine.

modsaluk · 24/09/2007 20:46

It was browny colour and there has been none since. Going to call my Midwife in the morning unless i have any more during the night. Someone suggested wearing a pad so i can tell how much there is.

Thank You

fitnforty · 24/09/2007 21:44

Right then...
BBC predictor : boy
Chinese predictor : boy
dodgy yes/no quiz thingy : boy

Do I take a hint or not?
Wasn't quite sure on the last quiz what to put for direction my pillow faces since it's east!

Modsaluk - know how you feel re the bleeding as I had a tiny bit the other night, but literally only 2 wipes and there was no more.
Brownish blood is old, so could have been hanging around for weeks...I got some spotting at 5wks and 9-10 weeks but everything was fine when i had my scan so am trying not to panic now. But easier said than done!
I haven't bothered phoning anyone since my m/w never answers her phone and the office isn't private enough to call the docs or hosp from there...I'd worry more about not being overheard than having something up with me!

Am so dying to take time off work, but it's really busy and noone else around to do the work if i'm not there...so no point in being off and having to do it all in even less time when i go back. Sigh. Left at 7.20 tonight and only managed 20 mins for lunch so shattered! Can't wait for my mat leave replacement to start in a couple of weeks so I can sit back a bit

fitnforty · 24/09/2007 21:46

oh, and don't care what flavour the offspring is really. Completely want to find out as I'm very impatient when i think there's something i could know and don't! But as for wanting either, have no real preference as I think they each have their pros and cons

monthlymayhem · 24/09/2007 22:39

Modsaluk - hope there has been no more bleeding and you're taking it easy x

We're not going to find out the sex, it's our first and we've always liked the idea of having 2 children, one of each, so don't mind which comes first! I do seem to be thinking about LO more as a boy, but I think that's just because my two friends who have recently had babies had little boys...

Hope the weather in London is better tomorrow as I'm coming down for the day - 6am flight, so alarm will be set for 4.30am - good pract

By the way - starting tomorrow night on CH4 at 9pm is a series called 'Bringing up baby' following different families with newborns and how they get on with different techniques for sleeping, feeding etc.

Night all!

turtle23 · 25/09/2007 07:06

modsaluk-hope all is well.
The program tonight should be good, but is bound to spark a debate on here about THAT PERSON WHO IT'S TOO DANGEROUS TO NAME and although I have a strong opinion, am too weak to fight it at the mo

OP posts:
glammama · 25/09/2007 08:36

Good morning all,
I hope Modsaluk, you are ok as is everyone else.
I know what you mean about the programme tonight. I'm almost a little to scared to watch it in case I get very upset/irate at PERSON WHO IS TOO DANGEROUS TO NAME. Oh well, I will watch it though. Hope everyone has a nice day. I'm a lady who lunches today, albeit in my lunch hour. Going to a fab veggie cafe in Bethnal Green. I'll get my mung bean brownie points. You know, I'm sure they make brownies out of mung beans there!

glammama · 25/09/2007 08:38

Oh, nearly forgot. If anyone was planning to come to the 13th Oct meet up only please see the thread for important info.

Thank you!

Paranoid1stTimer · 25/09/2007 09:52

I ended up in hospital yesterday because of bleeding since Saturday. I am 15 +4 and on asking the girlies I know who have had babies what they thought I should do, I was advised to call NHS 24 or hospital for advice. I was just expecting to be told "if it gets really heavy, get yourself to a&e" but noooooo... "Get yourself down here right now" AAARGH!!! Obviously, everything was thankfully fine but I panicked and went into hysterics (prob not helped by the hormones) and by the time I got to the ultrasound unit, I was shaking like a leaf. I could hardly look at first cos the scan picture was really fuzzy and unclear (unlike the 1st one which was so clear you could see the baby's heart pumping away) so I couldn't see anything. Then, sonographer said heart was beating away fine and the wee baby on screen shot it's arms out like it got a fright! It was amazing. What a difference between 13 and 15 weeks. Scary how fast it's growing.

Anyway, I had what was like a very light period and had to wear pads so it was pretty scary. All stopped now. Turns out the placenta had been close to cervix at start and when the uterus grew, the placenta moved up and back shedding a little (?!?) blood when it separated from cervix.

It's weird how people just come out and ask you things you would NEVER talk about when you weren't pregnant. Like I'd never mention my cervix to my mother in law and now we're all gabbing away about my insides like it's everyone's business. Think I am a bit of a prude so I'll have to get over it! The sonographer yanked my knickers down to "see everything more clearly"!!! That was a bit of a shocker. How much have I got coming to me in the next few months.....

Glad everyone's doing ok. I can't keep up with all your news!!!

e14mum · 25/09/2007 09:52

Morning all!
Glammama- where is fab veggie cafe in Bethnal Green? I'm so up for that! Fab veggie cafe near work was closed all summer , but is now open , so may have to pop in today!
Must get some work done. Hope you're all well.

e14mum · 25/09/2007 09:54

Oops- xpost Paranoid1stTimer... glad you're ok.

ClaphamLauren · 25/09/2007 10:10

Who is the lady who can't be named?!

I'm intrigued!

Was up all last night with sickness in between having a massive arguement with dp and had a total of two hours sleep. Now at work and struggling! Guess this is what my life is going to be like next year... eek. So scary.

glammama · 25/09/2007 10:45

Sorry to all of you who have had stressful times recently.
E14mum, the cafe is Wild Cherry details here Just tucked behind the London Buddhist Centre, great for lunchtime meditations. If you like banoffee pie, Wild Cherry does an amazing one, every now and again. I mean it's always amazing, just on the menu every now and again. Gosh I hope they have it today. Is it too sad to ring upand check, as I'll be going there anyway?

turtle23 · 25/09/2007 10:45

Lauren...don't ever mention her name, will you? It rhymes with tina bored and she wrote a book on babies which not everyone agrees with. I know for a fact that there are members of both camps here and that blood will be shed if we start this topic, so let's leave it? hiding again

OP posts:
e14mum · 25/09/2007 10:45

I think lady-who-can't-be-named has initials GF and rhymes with Tina Lord. Can't be named because of a big lawsuit last year because there were some negative comments about her on MN.
Is that correct?
Ahhh... can't even think about routines until I get past birth!!

e14mum · 25/09/2007 10:48

Glammama- that's not sad! You need to know! Go on... maybe they'll start making it more often if they get requests?

glammama · 25/09/2007 10:48

CL This is the blurb about the programme tonight, THE PERSON WHO CAN'T BE NAMED BUT I'M GOING TO NOW is Claire Verity (boo hiss) ch4link

turtle23 · 25/09/2007 10:51

I was talking about the other...CV is GF for all intents and purposes.

OP posts:
turtle23 · 25/09/2007 10:51

Thanks for the link, glam...but it was for your cafe!!

OP posts:
glammama · 25/09/2007 10:55

sorry guys this should work!

ClaphamLauren · 25/09/2007 11:43

I see! Saw that programme advertised, it looks interesting if a little scary.

Is anyone else just planning on winging it and hoping for the best!?

I've not been a MNetter for long so I'm unaware of all these sorts of things and it's my first pregnancy. Is parenting style frequently a bone of contention then? Does this apply to RL too?

turtle23 · 25/09/2007 12:44

CL...yes. you will find that whatever way you choose to parent, everyone will always have an opinion on it and be only too glad to give it to you. The thing to remember is that it is you, and not your neighbour, work colleague or childminder who is the parent, so by all means listen, but make your own decisions. And if you do want to watch grown women shouting at each other, bring up Gina Ford at your coffee mornings when the babies are 3 months old...

turtle23 · 25/09/2007 12:45

And no, I don't have children yet. Have just been a nanny and maternity nurse for many years and have seen the carnage!
